Page background refresh, can I stop it?
I have what might be 2 questions. I'm using the apycom jqmenu on my web pages and when I select a menu item and go to another page, the menu highlight just goes back to home and does not stay on the selected menu item and I suspect that part of my problem might be the whole page seems to be doing a full refresh where the background flashes white, then redraws the background and so on. In an earlier version of my site with a different menu, the back ground did not refresh like this. So what is causing the background image to redraw, and how can I prevent it when changing pages. The background image is the same for all pages. Thanks.
If your persistent menu indicator isn't working, something is wrong with your code.

Help! My Mouse pad is not working properly. The arrow cannot be controlled, it just keeps jumping all over the page. How can I stop this?
There are several possible causes for this issue. Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried until it's resolved. Some may not apply in your case.
1. Follow the instructions in this support article, and also this one, if applicable. A damaged or defective AC adapter could be the cause, even if it's the right kind.
2. Press down all four corners of the trackpad at once and release. If there's any effect, it's likely to be temporary, and in that case the unit must be serviced or replaced.
3. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and delete all pointing devices other than the trackpad, if applicable. Disconnect any USB pointing devices. By a "pointing device," I mean a peripheral that moves the cursor, such as a trackpad, mouse, trackball, or graphics tablet. A plain keyboard is not a pointing device.
4. Start up in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you restart as usual, stop here and post your results. Do the same if you can't start in safe mode. If there was no difference in safe mode, go on to the next step.
5. Reset the System Management Controller.
6. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
7. A swollen battery in a portable computer can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced without delay.
8. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built-in trackpad of a MacBook to behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
9. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
10. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think that your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
11. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine and/or external trackpad tested. -

When I open Firefox, a lot of tabs try to open at the same time. They all say Problem loading the page. It happened after I tried to download a owners manual for Harley Davidson motor cycles. How can I stop all but one tab from opening.
This can be a problem with the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

If my network connection goes out briefly due to a problem at my ISP, FireFox immediately opens a "diagnose network problems" page. This is particularly annoying when I don't even have FireFox or any other software open. Ideally, I do NOT want FireFox to even check if my Network is connected. How can I stop this?

I often get social buttons on left side obscurring a web page. How can I stop this?

Page background image can't be seen by certain users
hi! i'm using portal v3.0.9.8.3 and oracle db v8.1.7.0
i've created a page style with background image. I applied the page style to a page i created and assign some users to this default page.
problem is only some users can see the page with background image. they are have the same security settings and rights. but if i change the color of the tab, all users can see this change.
any suggestions?
thx.You may already know, browsers always cache css/images/js files. So if you would like to force browser to download new version of the files, you need to updated reference of the files using some kind of query string "http://server/test.css?version=XXX",
where on every updated you update the version 'XXX' to some new value. Usually we do this using some kind of programmatic approach - for example in my project I update the css/images/js links using the dll/assemlby modified date. So that every time I deploy
a new sharepoint solution, the files urls get changed.
Thanks,
Sohel Rana

Cannot add much more to the question. The bar appears below the toolbars and above the open page, at the right of the bar it has a button which says Allow? Would hope there is an answer to the question Regards Vivien
-> click '''Firefox''' button and click '''Options''' -> Advanced panel -> General tab -> Remove Checkmark from '''Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page''' -> click OK
Check and tell if its working. -
The question contains all the information I can provide
Ok I found a solution that worked for me, I simply dragged the user.js and the user.js.BAK to the desktop, before that I had done the same with the prefs.js and prefs.js.BAK, but that didn't help, so it's apparently the user file that was an error with.
It was the link from cor-el that helped me on the way http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved It's at the bottom titled User.js file locks certain preferences. This article can also help https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Preferences%20are%20not%20saved
It have still not made a new user.js file, but everything runs fine, hope this can help others to. -
Whenever I open Facebook through Firefox I get pop up ads and such. I do not seem to get this when using other browsers like Safari or IE. It's sooo annoying!!! I will use another browser until it's solved.
Since you have encountered the problem at other sites, not just Firefox, I'd bet that it is an Internet Explorer problem, not the web sites. Actually, I am sure it is an IE problem.
Try running Windows Update, perhaps there are some updates for Internet Explorer that might resolve the problem. If you don't know how to run Windows Update, use the Help on your system to look for information on Windows Update.
If that does not help, use Google to search for information on IE9 locking up when downloading.

For example: I was filling out a form on a website I had never been to before, which requested my e-mail address. After I had typed a few characters, a floating box appeared just below the form's field, containing one of my e-addresses (similar to but not the one I was inputting). I do not want Firefox to keep enough knowledge to allow other people to pretend to be me (even on my home computer).
Do the following:
# Open the Firefox options
# Click on the <i>Privacy</i> tab
# Change the History settings to <i>Use Custom Settings...</i>
# Uncheck the <i>Remember Search and Form Data</i> option -

Try trashing the .plist with CharacterViewer in its name in Home/Library/Preferences. To get to Home/Library you may need to hold the option key down while you do Finder > Go.

How can I stop auto refreshing a new web page in XP immediately after its opened?
In XP, once I access a new web page Firefox auto refreshes that page once the page is ~80-90% opened - how can i stop this refresh?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit") -
How can I stop the Drudgereport page from autorefreshing? None of the standard answers work.
''locking - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/775159 ''Drudgereport includes JavaScript code that refreshes the page.
