Page jumps to top when click on link

Hello everyone!!
I remember seeing a behavior for dreamweaver 8 that stops
page jump. I have picture links on my pages that bring up a 600pix
X 600pix picture and when it does, the page that you are curently
on jumps to the top. This makes it anoying because you have to
scroll back down to where you were. Can someone tell me what tis
behavior is or give me a link? Thanks!!!

Look at your link, you should have something like:
<a href="#" onclick="somefunction(stuff here,and here too
may be)">Your link
text</a>
As Murray said you need to include a "return false" statement
in there, but
the way he wrote it may confuse you. You don't put it within
the "href"
value itself but with *onclick*.
Like this:
<a href="#" onclick="somefunction(stuff here,and here may
be);return
false">Your link text</a>
You may want to read the first paragraphs of this article:

It talks about the use of "null links".

I use Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010, when clicking a link in Outlook I always get a box stating
General Failure. The URL was "http:// etc etc".The system cannot find the file specified.
Yet it still goes to the specified page. Any ideas on how to resolve this

I am having the exact same problem with Windows 7 Professional. Out of the blue, this issue just started a few months ago when running my monthly Windows Backup where I have used a USB drive for the last 3 years, and never ever had this issue before. Most
of the solutions listed on the Microsoft websites and answers deal with
    "Restore" functions, not the
"Backup" itself. I have 3 folders being skipped during the backup.
So I went and changed the Backup from "let Microsoft choose files, directories, etc" to "Let me choose". I included the files and folders that were being skipped, and ran the "Backup" again, and got the same error message,
but the files that were skipped the first time were "Backed up" finally. This issue is somehow related to my "Libraries"?
    The 3 backup problems are:
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\My Audio Books\Audio Book Recordings. Error:(The system cannot find the path specified. (0x80070003))
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\My Audio Books\Audio Book CD Label-Cover Art. Error:(The system cannot find the path specified. (0x80070003))
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\My Audio Books\Audio Book MP3 Tag Art. Error:(The system cannot find the path specified. (0x80070003))
Did a "checkdisk" - no problems. Ran a program to fix registry - no problems. All updates up to date. I guess I could eliminate these folders from the Backup folders in the
Library, and just choose them under the "Users" locations, and be done with it. But I really want to understand this, and fix it. This is within Windows 7 and may be related to Windows Media Player or
    some recent Windows update.  Thanks.

  • Major bug in Safari 6: previous domain persists in URL bar when clicking a link

I've noticed an extremely weird and significant bug in Safari 6 / Mountain Lion:
When I'm navigating through a site, sometimes when clicking a link, Safari tries to open the corresponding URL on a previously visited site's domain instead of the current site.
    For example:
First, I'm surfing on apple.com. Then, I navigate to another site, say estibot.com. On estibot.com, I click on a link that should take me to:
    http://www.estibot.com/tools.html
Instead, safari takes me to http://www.apple.com/tools.html, which of course produces a 'not found' error. Nothing wrong with the link; this is purely Safari's doing.
This happens often, and apparently can happen with any site.
In other words, the domain name of a previously visited site persists in the URL, and the page that I'm trying to navigate to is added to the domain of the PREVIOUS site, not the actual site I'm using.
This is a major bug and is often rendering Safari useless for my workflow. How could a bug like this end up in the finished product?
    Cheers
    Esa

Having the same problem. It is randomly consistent, i.e. some links consistently get redirected to a specific domain. For example, I am experiencing this issue when using Basecamp and links being misdirected to a specific client's website. However, the criteria for why some links redirect and some do not appears random. This issue does not occur in Firefox. This leads me to believe that it is not a DNS issue. May be a Safari/DNS pair issue or solely a Safari issue. We do use an internal DNS (OS X Server) for browsing internal development wbsites which then rolls over to a public DNS. Again, this problem has never occured in Firefox and consistently occurs in Safari.
    Safari Version 6.0 (7536.25)
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4
    On a side note...
Safari's strong-handed rewriting in the address bar as you type is crazy anoying. Or should I say "too helpful?" It seems to break the first rule of usuability: don't change the interface while the user is interacting with it.
And the unified address/search is rediculously annoying for developers who use non-complient top level domains for internal development (such as .dev)
And the new inspector seems like a huge step backwards in usuability. (debatable considering I'm probably not as advanced as some developers.)

  • How do I change email client when clicking mailto links?

I have reformatted my computer about 1 month ago. Everything almost as I had it before. Just 1 thing that is bugging me.
'''My email client is IncrediMail'''. When clicking mailto links in Internet Explorer, my IncrediMail opens as it should do, but in Firefox (which is my preferred default web browser) it opens another tab, wanting me to sign in to GMail to compose my mail.
I do have GMail accounts, '''BUT''' I want Firefox to open up my IncrediMail to compose my emails, just like it did before my reformat.
Any ideas would be gratefully received ;)

To make Firefox use Incredimail for mailto links, do the following.
    1. find the path to Incredimail on my Windows 7 machine it's:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\IncrediMail\Bin\IncMail.exe" (you can find this by right clicking on the desktop Incredimail Icon and selecting Properties. Copy this address))
    2. Type about:config into your Firefox location bar and hit enter. If you've never edited used about:config before, you'll see a warning.
    3. Click "I'll be careful, I promise!" This will bring you to the about:config window.
    4. In the filter field type "gecko". Find the entry gecko.handlerService.schemes.mailto.0.name;
    5. Right click and select Modify.
    6. Paste or type the Incredimail path in the field provided "C:\Program Files (x86)\IncrediMail\Bin\IncMail.exe" (the qoutes are required)
    7. Make sure that network.protocol-handler.external.mailto; is set to true.
That worked for me after many hours of searching and finding answers posted by individuals who wanted to help but didn't have a clue.

  • When clicking download links the profile folder opens up

when clicking download links the profiles folder pops up

Is this a new installation of Firefox you're running for the first time, or have you been running Firefox for a while?
Are you using the "built in" profile manager (firefox.exe /profilemanager) or the new "stand alone" profile manager?
If you look in this folder:
    C:\Users\''username''\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox
do you have a file named profiles.ini? It's a text file that usually has information for each of the profile folders in the Profiles subdirectory.

  • When clicking on links that open in a new window, the links don't open and Firefox freezes in a way. I can navigate the page I am on but cannot click to open a new tab or bookmark.

When navigating the internet, if I come across a web page that has a link to open a picture or program in a new window, if I click on it, it does not open. Firefox immediately looses functionality in that I cannot open a new tab with the mouse wheel, right click to open a new tab, or use my bookmarks in either the drop down or toolbar to navigate away. I can usually still navigate the page that I am on, for example, (https://loanconsolidation.ed.gov/AppEntry/apply-online/appindex.jsp), when it freezes I cannot click on any of the content at the center of the page but I can still use the links from the list on the far left. For an example of the pictures, (http://www.insect-sale.com/), if you click on "New Arrivals" at the top of the page it takes you to a list of products that can only be viewed by clicking on them. Usually a picture of the item would open in a small window but it does not and Firefox freezes. This has also happen when I try a view a degree audit on a school's website where a program would usually open in a new window. The only thing I have been able to find that still functions properly when this happens is the home page button. I can click on it or use the wheel to open it in a tab just fine, but if I try and go anywhere else I cannot. The only way I can get Firefox back to normal is to use the Task Manager and end the process. Another thing I have noticed, that may or may not be related; is that my Norton Internet Security toolbar, that should show up below the bookmarks toolbar and above the tabs, only shows up about 1 out of every 10 times I open Firefox. Some days it doesn't show up at all. If it does show up and I log into Identity Safe, the autofill for the programed website works, even if the toolbar doesn't show up the next time I open Firefox.

    Go to Tools->Options->Apps
Here you should see two columns: Content Type on the left, Actions on the right.
Find and select excel spreadsheet or any other content type in the left column. There should be a corresponding action in the right column. What is it? You can use the drop-down list to select the option you want:
Always Ask - Firefox will ask each time: What do you want to do with this file?
Save file - Firefox will save this file to your computer
Use - Firefox will give this file to the program to open it
In case of saving, Firefox will either prompt you every time where you want the file to be saved, or save it to the default location. It depends on the preference in
    Tools->Options->General->Download

  • After the Firefox 6.0.2 update (up from 6.0), Firefox does not open a tab/page anymore when clicking on links in e-mail(have Thunderbird 6.0.2)

Firefox no longer receives clicks on links in e-mail and others. No response at all. When I click on URL links in Windows, I receive "Windows cannot find http://<an address>. Make sure you typed the name correctly ...". When I click on e-mail links in Thunderbird, I do not get an error but nothing happens.

This problem disappeared after a few days by itself but the last significant change in my PC prior to noticing normal Firefox link behaviour was MS Vista update KB2607712 & restart. This may or may not be the solution to the problem.

  • When clicking on links a blank page loads initially with'about:home' in the address bar is this spyware?

is it spyware,a trojan or a geniune program?

"about:home" is the address of the default Firefox home page. It normally appears in the first tab when you open a new window, and is not a sign of any problem.
If the home page is showing up when you don't expect it to, it might be a problem with your system, or something that you can change with a setting. Please provide more details if there's something you want to change.

  • UWL: Jump another role when clicking in a WI (Task)

    HI Experts!
I tell them that I've have a problem when working with the UWL for SAP Enterprise Portal modules and SRM7.0 7.13.
The stage on which I locate the problem is this, we have created many custom roles portal with many features (standard and own client) and much of this role have the workset that brings SRM7.0 Portal installation to the UWL to display tasks that contains the user for management.
In this work, we find WI order approval standards, for example, which the user uses it daily and that when run, will open a document approver display mode (managed by the FPM and some dynamic parameters in the call). Inside the application for approval of orders, we have included a LINK to an custom application which we call clicking through on relative navigation (Path IVIEW), including the folder navigation role, the IVIEW Luncher for custom application.
Now comes the problem, the situation is that when you click the LINK application does not run giving an error in JAVASCRIPT. After analysis, we found that, at the time of the click, the WI (on tasks in UWL) the IVIEW on approval so that it runs is not relevant to the role from which you accessed the UWL, but has made a jump to a standard role. I mean, being in the role A (which is a custom role), for example, when you click on the task in the UWL, the system searches the IVIEW to execute that task in another role (role B - Standard Role) . Then the problem is that the navigation then run on the PCD_LOCATION corresponds to the standard role where not, the folder navigation, the IVIEW custom application and enforcement of this fails it.
We have reviewed all, SRM configurations for execution of tasks, XML configuration, configuration Roles, etc, but were unable to determine where and why you are running this jump in the role system.
What has happened to anyone?, Will created the wrong of the UWL IVIEW associated with the custom role?, Do these calls can be parameterized anywhere? This is happening to us in all systems and do not know why that is.
we really appreciate all the help we can provide

    Hi all
I am also facing a similar problem while implementing a dialog which needs to be shared by two pages. I am also implementing it the way described in the case that does not work. i.e. dialog is in the jsff of child taskflow. I am encountering the issues described here. Is there some solution to this problem?
Is there any other way also to implement a shared UI dialog?
    Thanks

  • Open page in new window when click on HELP TAB

    Hi
I have a number of tabs which work on my pages. My very last Tab is a Help Tab.
What I'm trying to achieve is that when a person clicks on the Help tab, the page should open in a new window.
The rest of the tabs should function normally, ie just switch pages in the same window.

  • When clicking CTRL+Link my new tab opens in the background window, instead of the foreground window I'm using. Is there a way to make this work the way it used to, where the new tab always opens in whatever window I was currently using?

I use a web based software for work. I go to a web page listing all employees as links (Window A). When I click an employee link a new window opens (Window B). Window B contains links, i.e. Add Client, Change Address, Change Phone Number, Change Name, Upload Photo, etc... When I hold CTRL and left click the links in Window B, the new tab opens in Window A. I don't understand why this has changed, as I've been using this method to open new tabs in my current window in both of the previous versions of Firefox.

That didn't work, but thank you very much for the offer of help. I had already tried that option.
To give you an example of what I'm speaking, I found this page that recreates the scenario.
    1. Goto [http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/centered_popup.htm http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/centered_popup.htm]
    2. Click the GO in the center of the box on their page (This creates a pop-up window with links to other programming pages)
    3. CTRL+left click any of those links. The page opens in the background/original window, not the pop up window where you are currently working. And, with your solution takes me back to that window and the new tab.

  • Disable Switch To Tab Function when clicking a link

When i click some links particularly in gmail, for instance if i get an email from youtube about a video being uploaded and i click said video, firefox opens this link in a new tab but the problem is that it automaticly switches to that tab which i hate. this happens with other links that want to open in a new tab to.
Switch to tab no more or switch to tab blacklist does not work. i did have a fix for it within the about:config page but i recently refreshed firefox and it removed the function. preferably i dont want to use an extension to solve this
''(edited title for clarity - c)''

You can remove the checkmark on "Open Tabs" in the location bar settings.
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest:<br />[] Open tabs
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Options+window+-+Privacy+panel
Note that you can hold down the Alt or Shift key while an entry in the drop down list is highlighted to disable "Switch to tab" and see the URL of all entries instead.
    * Alt + Enter opens the highlighted URL in a new tab.
    * Shift + Enter opens the highlighted URL in the current tab.
    * Cursor Right copies the highlighted URL to the location bar in case you want to edit it.

  • Highlight the bookmarked text when clicking bookmark link?

I have severeal bookmarks on one page of the PDF. Is it possible to have the PDF set up so that it will highlight the bookmarked text when the bookmark link is clicked? Or something that would make it easier to find the bookmarked section of the document. I am using Acrobat 9. Thanks!

A bookmark (go to page view type action) doesn't really link to text, it links to a page and view setting (zoom, and possibly scroll). So this isn't an option with such a link.
