Page size in designer window of HFR

Can anyone tell me how to increase the width of the designer page, it always show me up to 8. I guess we can extend up to 10, Can any one tell me how to increase the designer page width.in HFR 7.3

Hi friend,
We can do page protection functionality inside table of main window using Folders option. Follow the below steps,
1. Assume rows are created inside table in a main window, with corresponding line types.
2. Create a folder named PROTECT inside table, for example in Main area of table.
3. Just drag and drop your Row(s) into folder PROTECT and simply click page protection check box of the folder PROTECT.
4. This will help you to add the required functionality using Folders option in smartform.
Try this and update me in case of any concerns. Hope this will solve your problem.

CS4 Page size fit in window

Hi. The page sizing to fit the page you are working on has changed from the bar at the bottom to the bar at the top. What I am wondering is ... is it possible to permanently change the numbers in that window so I don't have to type in 90% or 85% each time to get the page to fit like I'd like it to. It goes from 103% to 100% to 75%. Is there some place I can do a permanent change for my CS 4 InDesign to make it easier and quicker? Thank you!

Scripts are easy. Copy the text from the forum and paste into Text Edit, change the value to the percentage you want and save as plain text with a .jsx extension. Put it in the scripts panel folder in your user library (Bob, can you give the whole path, please?).
To assign a shortcut Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts... and make a new set, then navigate to the Product Area dropdown and select Scripts, scroll to your new script and assign a shortcut. Save the set.

Can Reader pick up the Default Page Size of a printer that is not the Windows Default Printer?

We have a web based application that generates PDF documents via Crystal Reports.
We are using Adobe Reader 8
The PDF pages are displayed within an Internet Explorer window where the the users then print the document.
The application is designed so the user only gets one chance to print the document (ie they cant come back and change printer settings if they happen to print the document out incorrectly)
The document needs to be printed on A3 paper, full duplex.
We have a printer set-up decidated to the printing of the documents generated by this application. The default page size of this printer is set of A3.
If we set this dedicated printer as the Windows Default Printer we have no problems at all. The default page size (A3) is picked up and the document is printed correctly.
If any other printer is set as the Windows Default Printer (eg one that has a default page size of A4), the users must obviously select the correct printer from the Print Dialogue Box -however when the user selects the dedicated A3 printer, the page size remains as A4 (page size of the Windows Default Printer). This means the user must remember to change the paper size to A3 each time.
Out users find IT a struggle at the best of times - anything that makes the process simpler is very welcomed!
Is there a way to ensure the default page size of the printer is respected when that printer is not the Windows Default Printer?

PHYSICAL PAGE SIZE IN REPORT DESIGNER 2.5

I have designed a report in character mode and it prints on a page size of 15" * 5.5". Only one record is printed on one page. I have set the page size at design time and looks fine. I have also defined page as 130 * 33 characters. But when you run the report and send it to printer, and the end of each record page feed skips one page. i.e. printer feeds 11" paper or 66 line paper. Now how can I make the printer to set page size 5.5" or 33 lines.

Check on your printer defintion file and modify it to match with your page size or print area. Hard work to modify from standard
HP files to legal (242x66) and letter (88(?)x134) since nobody or vendor or Oracle
provide (max)many columns and rows on letter and legal. I had to modify two special printer define files. I am glad to print exact layout to the HP printer without contact any vendor or Oracle. Also I dropped my special files to Window NT shared disk area and Later I am only person to run Oracle Report 2.5 output at my personal computer. Therefore you must work very hard to test, test, test and understand PCL language script for your need or this page size than standard letter or legal. Sam

Creating a custom page size not working

Hi,
I have Pages 3.0.2 and I wanted to create an PDF for an ad that our playgroup wants to submit in a local paper. The ad needs to be 10cm x 6.2cm so I went to the Inspector dialog and the Document tab and then selected Page Setup. In the new dialog I selected Manage Custom Sizes under the Paper Size drop down and then created a new size by clicking on the + icon. This allowed me to specify a Page size of 10cm width and 6.2cm height. I selected user defined printer margins and entered 0.25 for all margins. I set a name for the page size as 100by62Ad.
All good so far, but now when I select this new custom size in the Page Size drop down I can see the page size and underneath the drop down it says 10 by 6.2cm and click on OK the Document Inspector flashes then shows the A4 sizes again.
Nothing I do seems to allow me to select the new custom size. I can select the other page sizes such as DL fine and see the new page size in the window, but my new custom size refuses to display. I have tried closing down Pages and coming back in but get the same thing. I then tried downloading another program, in this case one called "Stone Create", and selected the custom page size in that program and it worked fine. I got a small 10cm x 6.2cm document to work with.
This seems to be a bit of a bug. Has anyone else managed to work with custom page sizes?

I tried deleting the preference file and restarting Pages but I still have the same problem with the custom page size. When I start Pages I am presented with a bunch of templates so I choose Blank then I go through my procedure to select the custom page size that I created and always end up back at an A4 document.
I have used the demo version of Stone Create to do what I needed to do with the small page size (ie. create a small ad) but it is a pain that I paid for Pages and now will need to buy something like Stone Create to do what I need. Although, that said, having used Stone Create for this little ad I must say that for the price it seems like a pretty decent program that will do a whole lot of the desktop publishing type of functions without the rather steep prices of the Adobe products. I kind of wish I had bought this program instead of Pages now.

HP Photo Printing Software - How to change predefined sizes in "Design To Page size:" window?

I have a HP Photosmart printer, which came with a photo print application, "HP Photo Printing Software", Version 3.9.0.0. When I try to change the page size of the photo output using the "Design to Page Size:" screen, I see a list of predefined page sizes (e.g., "4x6 w/tab"). However, these predefined sizes (there are 11) can't be changed from within the program. For example, if I want to print a 4x6 photo with no border, which is a frequent requirement, there seems to be no way to do it.
How do I change or override these predefined print sizes in this program? BTW - I have Windows XP on my PC.

You may want to try HP's new photo-printing program, HP Photo Creations. It's a free download at www.hp.com/go/hppc.
To print photos at a predefined size, select the Print-at-Home tab (2), then Prints & Posters (3), then the Prints project (4). Then design your print and select your desired size on the printing screen (7).

How do I set the Page size default in Adobe Reader using Window 8?

I need to set the page size everytime I go to print from my Adobe Reader in my windows 8. Is there a way to set the page I want letter (8.5 by 11) as a default? So I do not have to do this everytime I print something?

I can't help but wonder why Adobe doesn't respond to this - at this point there are 464 views of this item and still no answer. I have the same problem and it's a big irritation to have to set the duplex mode everytime I want to print!

HP PhotoSmart Premium C310 - Windows 8 and Office 2013 - Where have the page sizes gone

I have just upgraded to Office 2013 on my windows 8 PC.
Now when I goto print, and click "printer properties" evert drop down is blank, and all the titles are in Chinese. HELP please.
Also the page size options have now lost useful things like A4, Letter etc.
Technet says to upgrade my printer drivers, but I'm on the latest ones, I can't contact support, as It says my printer is no under warranty support any more. I don't have fault with the printes, its with the driver. Please HP help.
I can supply screen shots of the issue, but could not work out how to post them here!

So only print functions and printer-related settings are in another language? Did you use the installation disc that came with the printer or did you download the software from the HP Website?
Here is a video on how to uninstall the HP driver from Windows 8 in case you can not understand the words. When I went to www.hp.com/support, I selected your country first and then chose the Software and Drivers section after that. Modifying existing book designs - page sizes etc

Hi,
I was playing with the book feature of Aperture recently and decided I wanted to print it on my home printer (r1900). I found out that there was no way to actually adjust the page size in the design to fit properly aligned on A4 paper as the book design is locked to letter size paper.
I tried creating a custom book - you could define the page size and margins in that, but it lacked all the frames and backdrops that existed in the Snapshots design. So, I started playing....
Using some information provided on the good Mr Boyer's site re the Aperture book plist file locations and their content, I was able to identify the string in my custom book that specified the page size. Great, thinks I - I'll just change the corresponding string in the Snapshots book plist file and all will be good.
Not so fast, grasshopper! There is no corresponding string in the Snapshots plist file. After some careful reading and comparing of file structures, I came to the conclusion that if I added the pagesize string to the Snapshots plist, it should cause the book to become A4 size. Working on a copy of the Snapshot book folder with plist and other files, I added the <pagesize> string for A4 and saved the plist file within the entire folder renamed to A4 Snapshot Large.
It worked - an additional book design now appears in Large Books, called A4 Snaphots Large (yes, I know the Large is redundant but anyway...).
But here's the wrinkle - there are still framesizes and margin offsets that were configured for letter size paper, so it's not perfect. Has anybody done something similar and knows what other settings to adjust in which plist file?
If anybody's interested, I'm happy to provide specific detail of the string, but I'm being hassled to go make some plunger coffee for my wife on account of it being Fathers Day (not my job to critique THAT logic...).

I'm making a book and am intensely frustrated. There are 2 things that I want to do and cannot find the way to do them.
First I want to resize some of the boxes on the standard pages and it won't let me do it. The instruction manual says: As you work on a book, you may need to adjust the layout of individual pages. For example, you may discover that one image in a group should appear slightly larger. You can move and resize the boxes that hold images on individual pages, making minor layout adjustments when a master page design doesn’t quite suffice. You can also create your own master pages to create custom books.
Wonderful! But it doesn't tell you how.
The only boxes I seem to be able to resize are those that I add with the 'Add photo box' command but these appear with a different mount and I can't see how to change the mounts so they match all the standard ones.

Oracle 10gR2 LARGE PAGE SIZE on Windows 2008 x64 SP2

What are the advantages of Large Page Size and how would I know when my DB will benefit from Large Page Sizes?
My undeqrstanding is on Windows x64 – 8kb default page size – will now be 2 MB. Will this speed up accesses to buffer cache? If so is there a latch wait that I can monitor before vs. after to verify that large page size has improved performance?
My Database server has 256GB RAM and SGA is set to 180GB. I am quite sure the overhead involved in maintaining a large number of 8kb allocations (as opposed to 2MB) must be high - how can i monitor this?

The DB is for SAP on a 8CPU/48 core IBM x3950. For some reason SAP documentation does not mention anything about this registry setting or even if Large Page Size is supported in the SAP world.
Part 2 : I notice that more recent Oracle patch sets (example 25) turn NUMA OFF by default. Why is this and what is the impact of disabling NUMA on a system like x3950 (which is a NUMA based server)?
My understanding is Oracle would no longer know that some memory is Local (and therefore fast) and some memory is Remote (therefore slow). Overall I am guessing this could cause a real performance issue on this DB.

Thanks for your reply. I am very interested to hear further about the limitations of Windows 2008 and the benefits of Oracle Linux.
Generally we find that Windows 2008 has been pretty good, a big improvement over Windows 2003 (bluescreens don't occur ever etc)
Can you advise further about Large Page Size for the buffer cache? I assume this applies on both Windows and Linux (I am guessing there is a similiar parameter for 10gR2 on Linux).
SAP have not yet fully supported Oracle 11g so this is why 11g has not made it into the SAP world yet.
Can you also please advise about NUMA? regardless of whether we run Linux or Windows this setting needs to be considered.

Page size different between design and preview modes

When I accept the default sizes when creating a new site, the page size appears as it should in design, but then when I preview it, it appears much larger, almost a perfect square. So, what I think I'm creating in design is not what I see when I preview it. See the example below. So what I think I'm designing in Design mode is not the result I get when I preview it. Can anyone tell me why that is? Is this a setting I can modify? I've been accepting the default settings when creating a new site.

Can't process a batch with different page sizes. - Acrobat X Std / Windows 7 Ent. / Fujitsu-fi-6140

Unable to scan Letter and Legal pages in the same batch, the output is either all legal or letter. Need to detect page sizes and scan them as what they are into a single PDF file.

While reproducing the problem I realized I was in error as to how far in the sequence the problem occured. I actually do get as far as batch creating PDF,. The only difference there is that I can no longer "drag and drop" files in the batch create window. I have to use the "Add files..." command in the upper left of the batch create window.
So, the application batch creates the files. Afterward, I use the Action Wizard to batch "Password Protect" the files. It is during this command run that the error occures. (Note: I am trying to save over the old files by having them save to the same directory under the same name, just like I used to be able to do.) The error I get is:

Warning/Errors
The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document in a different

The error message loops through all the documents. I don't have the documents open or in use. By default they shouldn't be "read-only". This all did not occure when I previously used the application with Windows XP.
I have not yet tried saving them to a different directory. I will try that later today. (I didn't want to have a lot of versions of the same documents, it tends to be confusing.)
