Palm Pre2 email connection

Hi,
I have a Palm Pre2.  It accesses the internet every 10 minutes.  I think this is to check for new email and/or updates.  It is costing me £1.50 a day.  How do I turn it off?  I have a wi-fi connection at home.  I have set the phone up to connect to that.  Can I switch off the auto-email-update facility without affecting the wi-fi connection on the phone?
Thanks.
Jimmy

Hi,
The issue isn't resolved.  Please see previous topic.  I have switched wi-fi off as well now.  I will probably change my telephony provider to one that provides internet access.  If I do, should I leave the wi-fi switched off until it is required?

  • Palm Pre2 Streaming music from winPC to mobile

    Hello,
I'm looking for an application that allows me to stream music from my PC (Win7) to my Palm Pre2. I've looked around and only VLC remote comes close to what I want.
To be able to control Winamp (or any other music player) as a remote but also streaming music on the go is what I'm after. And if there is a free version that would be the best.
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi. Welcome to Verizon!
Contacts: I would try Google to store and sync your contacts, since your BB is T-Mobile, and Verizon Backup Assistant doesn't work with the Pixi. Your other option would be to take the Pixi and the Droid to a Verizon store for transfer.
Email: You will have to set up your accounts on each new device, as far as I know. When you sync, you can choose how many days of emails you want to sync.
Pics and music: If these are on your BB's SD card, I would back them up to your home computer. Since the Pixi doesn't use an SD card, you will have to connect via USB cable and transfer to the Pixi. When you get the Droid, you can reformat the SD card (this will erase all info on it, so make sure your files are saved on your computer before formatting!), then transfer the pics and music from your computer to your Droid, either by hooking up via USB cable or putting the SD card into a card reader and inserting it in your computer.
I don't know the answer to your iTunes question, sorry. I read something about the Pixi no longer syncing with iTunes, but I'm not certain.

  • Internet/Email Connections

Hi everyone, just purchased a Palm Pre2 Smartphone and as such am new to the Palm community!
I am currently using the phone with a "pay as you go" SIM card, and have also got it successfully connected to my wireless home network. When not in range of my wireless network, the phone keeps making regular connections to internet (I assume to check for emails?). This happens every 15-30 minutes and I have not even set up the phone to receive emails yet! Majority of calls are free, but some incur cost and are using my credit up pretty quickly! Am told by my mobile service provider that this is a feature of many smartphones.
Is it possible to change the settings on the phone to prevent these frequent connections? If so, how can I do it?
If not, then presumably I have to take the costs, or pay upfront for internet connection to stop my credit being swallowed?
Any advice anyone can give would be much appreciated!!

Hi..  Welcome to HP Webos forums.
It sounds like you have your email acct set to check email periodically.  To change that go to the envelope on the launcher bar, your email accts.  Then the tab top left and preferences and accounts then scroll down to accounts and select the email acct, then scroll down to the sync section.  Under get email you can set it to manual and then it will only go out to check email when you do a manual sync.
The only other option would be to turn off data.  phone then tab top left and pref and accts. under network you should see a option to turn off data.  This can be turned on when needed as well as using the Wi-Fi connection.
    Hope this helps..

  • How do You Test EMail Connectivity?

How do You Test EMail Connectivity?
Once you setup the mail gateway with an IP address, port, and domain name.  How can you test email connectivity?  How do you force the MARS Appliance to send an email?

There is no "test e-mail connectivity" button/function. Essentially you need to configure inspection rules to notify you when they are fired by mars.
You will need to setup a user (preferably a non-admin account for testing) under "Management"-"user management"(if you haven't already done so) make sure to supply e-mail address.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/security_management/cs-mars/6.0/initial/configuration/setup.html#wp1030836
Now you can "Configure a Rule to Send an Alert Action." the following link explains how to do this...An easy one would be the "System Rule: CS-MARS Login Failures - Non-Admin User" rule. Follow the instructions in the link below under the "Configure a Rule to Send an Alert Action" section to modify the rule mentioned above. Keep in mind that this rule only fires when there are login failures. Once you have modified this rule try logging into mars using the non-admin user with a bad password...you should get a e-mail from MARS.

  • How to setup calendar email connectivity

How do i setup the email connectivity of a  collaboration room calendar without using a microsoft exchange server. Can i  just use java mail server?

You can configurate the email connectivity under configuration -> collaboration ->
transports -> mail transport. This mail transport uses the java mail library. You
need to provide the host name of your mail server. But keep in mind that by doing it you won't have calendar connectivity. You will have only mail connectivity to send mails from KM folders and mails for collaboration tasks for example.

  • N97 Email connection issue

    I have N97 with firmware version 11.0.021.209.04.
I am basically pleased with the phone apart from the slide unlock not working maybe 1 in 30 times (just open the qwerty pad to unlock in this case) not a big issue to me but hope it resolved in the firmware release.
However I have the following issue which is bugging me:-
I have set up my network priority list with my WLAN as 1, and the vodafone connection as 2.
I have my email connection setting set to default connection.
When I'm at home I have no problem, I can access my email through my WLAN.
However when I leave the house and try to to access my email I get a message saying WLAN is not available unable to access email. Obviously it is not available and I would expect the phone to automaticall switch to priority 2 but it doesn't.
I have to manually go into email connection settings and select vodafone.
My internet connection goes through the priority list no problem.
Does anyone know if I've not set something up correctly or if it is a bug.
    Cheers

i have read the posts in this thread. so far, settings will be one of the reasons why you can't access your network providers' packet data.
    >please understand that setting up email needs packet data/ GPRS to finish setting it up and then you can use WLAN to retrieve email whenever you want.
    try this setting:
    -->menu>messaging>options>settings>email>select mailbox (yahoo/hotmail,etc)
         >options>connection settings>access point in use> select network providers' packet data
--> if  the same issue persist, try deleting your WLAN connection and add it again
--> or, you can try to do a soft reset which will make your phone return it's factory settings only
not deleting file at all, just key-in *#7780#
--> next, do a hard reset. this time your files will be deleted so it is very much advisable to back
up your files in OVI suite first or in your memory card before hard reset, just key in *#7370#
--> least likely, if your phone is a new one or you just bought it, it is unneccesary for you to do
software update unless it is indicated to your product key that you may do so and if there
is a new software for your phone. (check in nokia.com if you may do software update by
         by entering your product key)
--> if all else fails, bring your phone to Nokia Care Center/ Service Center accredited by Nokia

  • Email Connectivity in Collaboration

    Hi all
I've recently installed Collaboration in EP 6 SP 2...the email functionality that needs to be set up from the rooms is as follows:
When a new user is added to the room or new documant/etc added to room, an automatic email with link to log on to the room should go out to the required user so that he can register himself/or do requisite actions. The client does not want to send out emails from the CLP.
Could anyone please let me know what configuration needs to be done to achieve the above?
    Appreciate all help.
    Thanks
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
to configure the email connectivity as required, you have to configure the EMAIL Communication Channel by navigating to (System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Configuration -> Content Management -> Utilities -> Channels -> E-Mail Channel).
You should also configure EMail-Transport by clicking on (System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Configuration -> Collaboration -> Transports -> E-Mail Transport -> JAVAMailTransport)
Email notification for document subscriptions and room creations should now work. If you do not want to let users send emails from the CLP, you can easily remove the command "send mail" from the UI Command Group.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • How to Sever Email Connection?

Hi. I would like to retire or give away this iMac. I have deleted all personal documents, but how do I safely sever email connection from this device? I also own iMac OSX Snow Leopard and iPod.

    Hi
If you have the original disks, which you would pass onto the new owner, the best way to clear your stuff off the computer and set things up for the new owner is to put a new installation of the OS onto the Mac.
Insert your Install disk 1 into the drive and then Restart, and hold down the C key to take you to the installation windows.
Select your language, the start up Volume and choose Erase and Install.
At the point your registration process starts, abandon the registration, quit and eject the disk and switch of the computer.
This will allow the new user a freshly installed system, whereby they can complete the registration process themselves. Make sure you hand on the disks 'cause they'll need them.

  • Loose of email connection to company server

I am periodically loosing email connection to company email server on both my iphone and ipad.  Happens randomly.  Reconnection occurs right after.  Have gone thru and deleted email account in settings and re-established to no avail. Any thoughts?

You are allowing slack or losing tightness in your email connection?
are you connected to the server by string?
If you meant you are losing the connection, what troubleshooting have you done?
have you checked with the IT department for outages or if it is a widespread issue?
What kind of Internet connection do you have during these outages-wifi, cellular?

  • T/X Email connection to Wi-fi

If you have followed some of my previous posts, I had a problem connecting to my TX to my wi/fi. This problem turned out to be related to incorrect security settings on the T/X. This has been resolved however I have a new problem.  I can connect to the Web with the T/X however when I try to connect to download my E-mail I get the following error: "A server name has not been entered. Please setup server preferences." Looking on the TX under server preferences only gives a option of keeping or deleting downloaded files  on the server.  Does any one have a suggestion on how to solve this issue? Thanks

Chapter 16, page 312 of the TX User Manual explains how to set up an Email Account on your TX.  This manual is included with your installation disk, or can be found online here:
    http://www.palm.com/us/support/userguides/tx/en/TOC.html
Just to get you started, open Versamail, click the menu, choose Accounts/Accounts Setup.  Enter all the pertinent information (like Server names and settings).

  • Cannot send emails - connection to SMTP server timeout

I cannot send emails from my Thunderbird. Every time I try, an error message shows up saying that the connection to SMTP server has timed out:
    "Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.lineone.net timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator."
I have looked at many different possible solutions and tried them, but nothing seems to be working. I have tried several different ports, failed to send in Safe Mode with Networking and Thunderbird safe mode without add-ons and tried many different settings. I have ensured that the my settings on Thunderbird match the settings that my ISP recommends. My anti-virus software is not affecting it either. Maybe there is something I am missing but I would really appreciate any suggestions!
    Here is some general info:
    Mail provider: lineone
    ISP: BT
    Anti-virus software: AVG
    OS: Windows Vista
    Thunderbird version: 31.5.0

    Hello @shredo,
Firstly, I would suggest reading this support article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages
If that doesn't help, try some of these things (not sorted in any particular order):
*Test your connection in another network. There might just be some blocked ports in your router or conflict of some sort.
    * Test your smtp settings in another email client (to ensure that they actually work). If it doesn't work, there might be some missmatch with the settings (even though you have ensured that they match), or some restriction by your router or something.
    * Apparently, compacting your thunderbird folders might help with this issue (something to do with too many "deleted", that are still there) - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Tips_:_Compacting_Folders
    I hope this helps.

  • Can't receive email - connection failure

Since last nigh, the inbox in my Mail program (both computers) has had an alert icon. When activated, it says ... "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account "XX" or try again.
The server error encountered was: The connection to the server "mail.mac.com" on port 993 timed out."
I can send email (apparently ... it goes) and I have access to the internet.
This is happenig on both computers with .Mac account.
Any ideas? Started last night. Mac Mini. MacOS 10.4.5 512 ram 1.5 GHz
    Thanks. RR

I did exactly what SiJmons recommended above and my Mail program is working normally once again! My .mac remained but I had to re-establish my ISP earthlink accountas per sijmons. After that it works good on both my desktop and powerbook. The question is, what happened? Is there a virus out there or did Apple have a timed clitch in the Mail program. What would have caused both computers to fail receiving mail at the same time, oh, other others out there?
    Again, the fix:
    Trash the following file:
    your home directory / Library / Preferences / com.apple.mail.plist
    and empty the Trash
    Restart Mail
    Re-install your mail settings
Thanks Sijmons! You are the Man today!
