Palm TX-lost everything in a recent move

After the move, I have the TX and the Hot Sync cable-that is it.  Can someone let me know how I can get the things I need to get going again?  And what do I need?  No CD, new computer, no power cable.....

Plenty of ideas...but not enough information from you!
What version of Vista?  32bit or 64bit?   If 64bit, head over to the Windows HotSync section of this forum and read the sticky post concerning "Windows Vista and Win7 instructions..."

  • My Iphone 4 recently reset itself to factory mode and I lost everything. I managed to get most of my music back but I was wondering if there was a way to credit money that I spent on itunes cards for things in the games I purchased?

My iphone 4 recently reset itself to factory settings and I lost everything...contacts, pictures, itunes, apps. I managed ON MY OWN thanks to NO HELP from apple to figure out how to restore most of my apps and some of my ITUNES music. However I lost all of my games standings and that was a lot of money that I spent on upgrading games and such and quite a few of my songs. Is there away to research what i purchased and maybe get credited or something?

The easiest way to get back missing items?  Restore your whole hard drive with all your irreplaceable things like photos in about 20 minutes from the backup clone you make on a regular basis.
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • My hard drive crashed and I lost everything. No backup.  Does Itunes backup to a server?  Can I get my library back?  If so how?

My hard cdrive crashed and I lost everything.  No Music library back up.   Does Itunes have my music on their Server?  If so how can I get it back?

You can re-download everything you already bought, if you remember what it was, and you won't have to pay again. This assumes the music you purchased is still available for download.
Other than iCloud backup, which does not store your non-iTunes purchased music anyway, that is all there is.

The following items are not backed up to iCloud. You can sync these items with a computer using iTunes:

  • My computer crashed, and I lost everything, includingmmovies and music not downloaded in I-tunes...what do I need to do to preserve these files when I upgrade to IOS 5 with the cloud service (I-pad 2)

I had a computer hard drive crash, and lost everything, including music and video I had transferred to my I-Pad 2 from other sources.  The upgrade to the current OS warns me that I will lose all non-Apple downloads when I upgrade.  I have lots of non-Apple music and videos that I cannot replace.  What do I do????

Betsy, the place to look for the conduit settings is not in Palm Desktop, but in the HotSync Manager.  This is found in the little Hotsync icon in the bottom right tool tray of your computer.
Click on it, choose Settings, then Applications.  Highlight the conduit you wish to change, then click the "Configure" button.  Choose the direction you wish.  Don't click the "Default" button, or this will be the direction that will occur every time.

  • I have updated my iPad and lost everything can you please help me?

I have updated my iPad and lost everything because my only option on iTunes was to update and restore. The update was very strange because I pressed install, I had enough space for the update and I agreed to the terms and conditions. My iPad turned to a black page with a picture of connecting to iTunes, I couldn't get it off my screen even when I plugged it into iTunes. to update and restore my iPad was my only option and if I plugged my iPad out my screen would still say plug into iTunes. I haven't backed up my iPad for a few months but I need the most recent stuff on my iPad. I need my iPad for school. How do I fix this? And can Apple do anything to get it back? I am stressing out so much and I really need answers and I need them quickly. (Sorry if I sound rude but I'm freaking out about this)

You should be able to see all your Purchased Music in your iTunes Account and you can download that Music to your iPhone during a Sync.  First step look under Purchases in iTunes.

  • Hard drive crash, lost everything, need Microsoft Office back

My Macbook Pro's hard drive recently crashed, and I lost everything. I need to reinstall Microsoft Office Student & Home Edition 2008, but since it came installed on my Mac, I have no clue how to get it back. Ideas? Thanks!!
Would it be on my applications CD with the ilife package?

If it came pre installed on your Mac, check the Optional Installs.pkg in the install disc.
It's not part of the iLife suite of software.

  • I updated my to ios 5 and lost everything!

I updated my ipod and I literally lost everything. I restored my ipod to when it was last update and I only got my apps back. I didn't get any music back and I don't know how to. HELP!

Music is not part of the backup that iTunes makes for your iPod.  Same goes for other synced items including photos from your PC, podcasts, and movies/videos.  If the music is no longer in your iTunes library or in a backup somewhere, you'll either need to redownload these tracks again from iTunes via iCloud or rerip them from their original source.

  • Trouble with Maverick, lost everything on MBP upgrade?

Im not sure what to do next, and afraid I may have lost everything a moment ago
so would really appreciate some help at the moment.
-- Last night I started downloading the Maverick upgrade from app store, woke up and pushed the button to start the install.
-- The screen was showing the green bar at the end stage of the install for an hour, even though it was saying "less than a minute remaining"...
-- I didn't know what to do, so I abandoned without thinking and shut down => restarted => now the computer is taking me through the steps as it did when I first bought the computer.
-- Im afraid I may have wiped the system clean when I aborted the install (?)
-- I started going through the steps, but then stopped when I realized what was happening. Shut down again, restarted in "safe mode" but still getting the set-up (choose your main language) welcome page.
What can I do to get my data back? I moved over to an iMac recently so havent been backing it up with time machine, have a few very important files on the desktop that I would really like to try and recover...
I know this was lame to not have a backup.
Any advice from any of the pros out there,
    please help!

Hi, I had exactly the same situation.
Yesterday I managed to reinstall without loosing any data.
    I did following:
    1) I have installed Maverick OSX once again to external HDD. I pressed CMD-R when booting and selected second option Reinstall OSX and have chosen external drive.
Then I booted from external HDD and WAS ABLE to access all my data on internal HDD. So I did BACKUP and copied them all out to ext HDD.
    2) I removed external HDD with backup and pressed CMD-R during restart. I have selected again second option to Reinstall OSX (this time on internal HDD). Everything went smoothly (except the last minute was much longer, but don't panic again - shame on Apple) after installation has completed and did natural reboot I had all my profiles and all my data ready in computer. No need to restore anything from backup

  • Computer crashed, lost everything...

So a few days ago my laptop crashed and I lost everything, including my iTunes.
All my music is just on my iPod. Fixed my computer and now I installed iTunes again but don't how to get the music from my iPod to the iTunes without losing it. I don't want to lose all that music that I payed for or imported from CDs. Can anyone help me?

1). Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only let you copy your purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • I upgraded my I-tunes and as a result lost everything!

I upgraded my I-tunes and as a result lost everything!  My library is gone, my playlists are gone!  This is very upsetting.  Apple, what were you thinking?  How can I restore back to preupgrade?

My earlier advice has been expanded in the light of recent posts. It may well be that your library can be recovered by replacing the current .itl file with a recent .tmp file, or "Previous Version" if Windows is saving those for you.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to a recent state. There is also the possibility that Windows (Vista or later) has created backup copies of the iTunes Library.itl file which may be found if you right-click on the current copy and select Restore Previous Versions.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor to most since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems in some cases it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any AV scanning process.
