Paradox? Two different apple ID, same e-mail.

Hi all,
just to add my experience with multiple apple IDs. Recently i've noticed that i'm unable to receive iCal shared calendar from other icloud users, no matter if they are using a full iCloud account or an apple ID based on a third party provider. So i started investigating and here is my situation. I've two apple IDs:
one is with login (names are just for example), "paradox" and have for primary e-mail "[email protected]" the second have login "[email protected]" and since this one was created for icloud have "[email protected]" as primary e-mail.
So that means that... when i sign up with "paradox" from my iOS devices, i can receive iMessages and all the rest, both on my phone number AND at "[email protected]". BUT... "[email protected]" is also ANOTHER DIFFERENT apple ID at the same time. So... when somebody send me an iMessage or a calendar event, what will do the apple server? Will it try to deliver the content to both the apple ID? I tryied also to change the primary e-mail of "paradox" to an alias created on the "[email protected]" icloud account, but using alias is not allowed.
For absurd, if i try to manage my apple ID "paradox" from the apple ID account page, it propose me to change my ID to an e-mail address and of course it propose me "[email protected]" (which is the second account...) but since that is impossible to do, if i click on the button, nothing happens. I have no error in return, no nothing. Of course i don't want to create a gmail account just for handling this mess, but i think that this kind of intricated situation should be handled with some option like merging or whatever... I have an appointment with the online support anyway to show them this... paradox.

I've done some test with the technician and what we figured out is that i can receive calendar events only on the e-mail address i registered when i've created my mac.com account. After the introduction of mobileme and the ability to sign up also with a me.com domain i though that both e-mails, despite you were using me.com or mac.com were the same. But they are not. If you originally signed as mac.com for that account, there you can receive calendar event, otherwise they will arrive as attachment if you use another domain introduced later. Well that's my case which i bet it will not the case for somebody else. It's like me.com is just an alias for my mac.com original address account.
As i told before there is another thing that make me think that behind all, icloud is a mess: the fact that i've two apple IDs and they have different options for the security page. One has three question (my first old iTunes one)
but the one i created when i subscribed .Mac has just one question.
So: are they running two different "versions" for handling the apple IDs accounts? isn't an account supposed to be upgraded when you add more security options? I find all this absurd!

I am trying to store music for two different iPods on the same Windows 8 computer, and when I try and download content from the Cloud I get an error message. Is it possible to have two different Apple IDs on the same computer?

Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value).  You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads
Content imported from your CDs will have to imported again
The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these).  Without details of the issues you're seeing it is difficult to suggest a remedy other than going through the media album-by-album, track-by-track, and correcting the inconsistencies.
In the absence of a backup or access to the original library data there is no option other than painstakingly recreating your library as described above.  As you do so, you'll now realize how important creating and maintaining backups are - in my case I have at all times three separate duplicates of my library, in two different locations, where none is ever more than a week old compared to the content of my master library.

  • My wife and I decided to both buy Iphones do I put them both under the same apple ID, or do I create two different apple ID's and two differnt icloud accounts?

My wife and I decided to both buy Iphones do I put them both under the same apple ID, or do I create two different apple ID's and two differnt icloud accounts? We want to be able to share my itunes library on both our phones and sync our calendars, but I don't want every update and reminder that my wife puts in her phone and I know she doesn't want every reminder I put in my phone.

What you need to do is both use the same Apple ID for iTunes content, but separate Apple ID's for everything else. So, you keep your existing Apple ID. If not a verifiable email address, you will need to create a new Apple ID for yourself. You also create an Apple ID for your wife, again a verifiable email address. You use the existing Apple ID for all iTunes content. The new Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc. Here's how to create an Apple ID:

  • HT204053 How do I use the same email for two different apple IDs?

I have inadvertently created two different Apple IDs throughout the years but now need my most recent one to use my email, but still want access to my old apple ID (if I can find it). The old apple ID has priority (the new one is not allowed to verify my email as it is linked to my old ID) with that email - can someone help me have the two IDs linked to the same email?
    Thank you

AFAIK this is Not Possible. Each ID requires a Unique address

  • Two Apple ID's for two different people on same computer causing issues

My husband and I have two different Apple ID's on our main computer.  I tried to download some items I bought but I keep receiving a message that if I download from another ID I wouldn't be allowed to download past or current purchases from another ID.  How can we both use the same computer with our separate ID's, make purchases and download those purchases?

A computer or device can only be associated with one Apple ID at a time. This is why you get the error. If you continue to wsitch from one account to another and keep downlaoding, you will trigger the 90 day limit. When taht happens, you need to wait for 90 days before you can switch users.

  • HT1206 How do you authorize a macbook with two different Apple IDs?

I am having a little problem right now. My fiance and I both have our own accounts; he got one made by his brother and used it sometimes to buy apps and eventually he started using mines to make purchases because for a while we forgot his Apple ID log in info. My questions right now is can I authorize the one computer that we share right now under two different Apple Ids so that he can get both profiles' contents loaded onto my computer and sync them to his ipod? Just wondering because we don't have wifi and want to get all of our apps, music, etc from both accounts onto our new ipod. I managed to download all of his apps from his Apple ID onto my macbook but I tried to sync them to our new ipod and it said that we had to authorize the computer under his Apple ID and I tried it and it wouldn't allow me to do it it said to wait 90 days before I can do this because it is already associated with my Apple ID. I deauthorized my macbook under my Apple ID and tried to authorize it under my fiance's and it said the same thing. And now Idk what to do:( Can someone help me and tell me what options are available for me? Can I reach itunes support and have them merge our accounts or enable me to have 2 accounts authorized on my macbook that we share or can I find a wifi connection and be able to download all of his content from his Apple ID account from itunes purchased on the ipod touch? Please help me out I would hate to have to buy all of the stuff on his Apple ID account all over again I spent so much money on his account in the past and I don't want him to be upset either:(

OMG I am so ecstatic and happy right now like literally jumping and crying with joy! Lol I fixed the problem and authorized both accounts onto my one macbook (that my fiance share) by clicking on one of my fiance's apps and it instructed me to authorize the apps for updates and what not on this computer and I just chanced it and logged into his account and both of all of our apps are on our ipod touch now:D I think we can even get his music back too. I looked at his authorized computer info and it says that he has one computer authorized with his account (the one we are now using) so it worked. Share with others who are in similar situations and warn them to log into their Apple ID Itunes accounts and download past purchased APPS on all the accounts they have before authorizing one of their itunes accounts on a new or different computer and once you have one authorized you'll already have the apps from your other accounts and you can authorize all the other accounts (the underground way) by clicking on the apps associated with each account and authorizing by signing in for authorization(authorizing one app will do them all). The Menu > Store > Authorize This Computer way didn't work for me just the *double click on app associated with the other account not authorized on my computer* and authorizing it that way worked for me. The way that I got all of my fiances apps on our computer first was by just logging in and looking at Purchased on itunes store and clicking download all for all apps. Then after I did his I did all apps on mines and then music and authorized my computer under my itunes account because downloading Purchased music required it and then finally going back and double clicking the apps from the other account and authorizing it that way it is much more simpler that the Menu>Store> Authorize this Computer.
After I tried that double clicking on apps and authorization by signing in I expected it not to work because the Menu>Store>Authorize way didn't work for me it kept saying "this computer is already authorized under a different Apple ID" and try again in 90 days. The method and steps I provided should allow you to beat around that obstacle and get your apps from all associated accounts.
Thank me later and good luck to all of you I hope that it will work for you just as it had for me today:D

How do I use Home Sharing with two different apple accounts?

    Morning Saintine,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Home Sharing enables you to stream or transfer music, movies, TV shows, apps, and more among up to five authorized computers in your household. To do so, you will need to Turn on Home Sharing on each computer using the same Apple ID.

  • HT204161 email associated with two different Apple IDs keeps me from logging in

It seems I have two different apple id accounts both associated with the same recovery email address. As I enter to “Manage My Apple ID” it tells me I need to verify my email address.
Specifically, it says “A verification email was previously sent to [email protected] We can resend the verification email to the same address, or if this address is incorrect you can change your Apple ID and email address.”
I hit the “Send Verification Email” button, but it tells me
“Email address is already verified for another Apple ID.” and I’m stuck, because I’m not sure what that other Apple ID that is associated with that email address is.  Can anyone help me out?

I've tried everything..unplugging and re-setting the Apple TV, restoring to factory settings and starting over...nothing seems to work. I'm not sure why the software upgrade would have affected it, but that's what triggered this problem. It doesn't seem right that if it's accessible on my computer and it's all music purchased by me, that it's not all accessible on my Apple TV!

  • One app, two different Apple Dev accounts ... Will it work?

Building a standalone/single-issue viewer app for a client. We've asked to be invited to join their Apple Dev team, but the client proposes this workflow instead:
    Scenario 1
    • We use OUR iOS Provisioning Portal/Apple Dev account to generate all the certificates, provisioning profiles and the app ID needed to bake out the app.
    • We deliver the final binary (.zip file) to the client.
    • Client uses ITS iTunes Connect/Apple Dev account to deliver the binary to Apple, so that the client will be the publisher of record in iTunes.
WOULD THIS EVEN WORK? Can you really create an app using one Apple Dev account, then publish/manage it w/ iTunes Connect using another Apple Dev account?
    We've also heard this scenario:
    Scenario 2
    • Using our Apple Dev account, we generate: Development Certificate (.p12) and Development Provisioning Profile
    • Using, their Apple Dev account, the client generates: Distribution Certificate (.p12) and Distribution Provisioning Profile
    THEN …
1.) … WHO generates the App ID, considering that our dev and their dist provisioning profiles need to be tethered to the same App ID?
2.) If it's the client, how do we tether OUR dev provisioning profile to THEIR App ID?
    Big thanks in advance.

My only experience with publishing is to create both the dev and distribution apps, so I haven't tested that workflow yet. But I've heard of publishers who need to do what you're proposing. As I understand it, you would basically create the required cert files from two different Apple accounts. With your Apple account, you would create a dummy App ID (such as com.publisher.publication.test), and create the dev .p12 cert, the dev mobileprovision file, and the dev push cert. Your client would create the real App ID (such as com.publisher.publication) along with the distribution .p12 cert, dist mobileprovision, and dist push cert. Once you get these certs, you use Viewer Builder to create the app using the cert files from the combined Apple accounts. You would publish and test the development ipa file. If it all works properly, your client would sign in to Viewer Builder, download the distribution .zip file and submit it to Apple.
As I said, I haven't tested this workflow yet, but we're currently setting up a similar split environment.
