Parallel work flow_SRM7

hi,
we are facing work flow issue.
In org structure,say there is 2 departments say DEP1 and DEP2.
DEP1 having buyers for Stationary items and Dep2 having buyers
for Tools items. for one step approval respective department
head will approve the shopping cart.
Problem is if i want to use 2 step approval
suppose if Stationary item is required for Dept2 user,shopping
cart should approve from first dept2 approver and second level DEP1
buyer. How to achive this Parallel approval process.or
we are using application controlled work flow(SrM7), is there any
solution if i use process contrlled work flow? or
if i change org structure it will work?

Hi Rami,
if you use process controlled workflow available in SRM7, you can easily implement the scenario. Using process schema evaluation, you can implement two different schema for department 1 and department 2 based on differement department.
Thus you can achieve two different workflow - if the requestor is from department 1, one step workflow (only manager)will be triggered. If the requestor is from department 2, two step workflow (first manager of the department and then buyer of department 1)will be triggered .

PARALLEL WORK IN AN OPENED WORD DOCUMENT AND FORMS 9i

Hello,
Our customer want to have an enhanced integration of the Forms application and
MS Word. Currently, he opens an existing Word-file from a Forms form, MS Word
opens, he edits the Word file, closes it, and goes back to the Forms
application.
The point is, that while the Word file is being opened, he wants to be able to
go back to the Forms application do some necessary things, and then go back to
MS Word where his word file is "waiting". Actually, he needs the possibility to
switch between Forms 9i application and MS Word.
The integration with MS Word is being done using WebUtil 1.0.6. The call to MS
Word is done using WEBUTIL_HOST.blocking. I also tried to call MS Word using
CLIENT_OLE2-Procedures but again I'm not able to go back to the Forms
application.
Is it somehow possible or is there any workaround how to enable the "parallel"
work in Forms application and MS Word?

Hi Dimce,
Okay. approach in the right direction. In order to get forms to wait executing the trigger code while in non-blocking mode, create a callback scenario. This is out-of-the-box webutil functionality (please read the webutil manual for details).
In short,
1) create a callback trigger at forms level
2) move all code that fires after you call MS Word to the call back trigger. This code is then executed whenever MS Word is calling back to forms.
3) use webutil_host.nonblocking_with_callback instead.

How to set processor with 2 core to parallel working

I have a intel core2 duo with 32bit Arch.
I allow paralleling work in bios. In the system I see 2 processor and both are working. But they don't work together. I mean when processor A is comming up then processor B is comming down. When A working at 80% then B working only at 20%. I think they rotate with their work but never working together.

Multicore is difficult, because many things are hard to do in parallel. In other words: Many tasks will only use one processor.
But just to see both processors at 99% you can do the following:
Open two terminals. Execute in both terminals the following code:
while [ 1 ]; do echo -n; done
This is a simple infinite loop in bash, which will "print nothing" and "stress" your CPUs. (Use Ctrl+C to end the loop.)

Change parallel works dynamically

Hi,
now I am doing export data pump for a data warehouse database,
Export has been started and I use parallel=4, it is running now..
1. Say if I want to increase parallel level to 16, how could I change it dynamically while the exp is running?
( now the exp rate is 5.1/hr far, do you think this rate is normal or not...SA want to change some NFS settings. I think increase the parallel works may not increase the speed of export, based on my past experience, somehow still feel a little slower than expected)

Not got much experience with doing this through nfs - but compared to filesystem that is really slow.... WIth parallel 6 i can export 400GB in about 30 mins.....
Is there a long network distance to the nfs server?
If you plan to just load the dumpfile into another database afterwards you are probably better using the network_link parameter instead.....

Will Parallels work with XP SP1 on imac?

PC user switching over to Mac. I'm getting my new intel based imac and wanted to ask if my OEM disc of XP pro Sp1 will work with PARALLELS during installation, if not, what are my options...

It depends. Retail versions will work fine, but many OEM disks contain modifications that lock them to a particular hardware configuration (for example, you wouldn't expect to be able to use the WinXP install disk that came with your HP desktop -- it won't work).
If you purchased an "OEM" disk with a white-box PC, there's a decent chance it will work fine.
The serial keys can also be locked to a particular vendor. So, the serial number on the OEM disk may not be usable with another OEM or retail disk.

WLI task assignment in parallel work flow

I have been working with the WLI for a proof of concept leveraging the task assignment
features. Following the worklist tutorial I was trying to assign a task usining
a parallel process. The server indicated it was unable to assign the tasks in
parallel b/c one of the parallel branches claims the task and does not allow for
the assignment to the other branch.
Is there a way to do this? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Will VMware or Parallels work for a 3TB fusion drive?

I'm in the market for an iMac but I need windows for work-related stuff (and some games)
I have an older macbook pro (13" the first year the 13" went pro, 2009 i think) and I load windows through bootcamp, so no problems there.
I understand that the 3TB fusion drive won't work with bootcamp so my only option seems to be either VMware or Parallels (i haven't used either of these) to load Windows 7.
Just wanted to ask to make sure that there is no limitation with a 3TB fusion drive and VMware or Parallels.

There are limitations with either choice you make.
With boot camp, that is where you partition the drive to install windows and have a dual boot system, and a fusion drive windows will be installed on the rotating standard drive only. Not utilizing the ssd flash storage at all.
If you go with a virtual machine install of windows in either parallels, vmware fusion or the free vm program virtualbox from oracle the limitation are in the virtual hardware used. Most specifically in the virtual video card all of the virtual machine program use. So if you are using graphic programs the preformance in a vm will be lower then if windows was in it own partition and using the real hardware in the system. On the plus side for a virtaul machine install of windows is that you can run both os x and windows at the same time, windows and the virtaul machine program might be placed on the ssd part of the fusion drive and will actuall run faster then if it was in its own partition on the standard rotating hard drive.

Will Parallels work with OSX Lion?

A friend has just bought an iMac which still has Snow Leopard. He was wanting to upgrade to OSX Lion but has heard that Rosetta is no longer available in Lion (which he currently needs to run an older language program)
He was thinking about using Parallels and running the Windows version of this program, but needs to know if currently available versions of Parallels will work on Lion.
He can't use bootcamp because his Windows machine OS is WinXP and there is no point in buying Windows 7 just for this one program.
Or should he not upgrade for the time being?
Has anyone had experience with Lion and Parallels please?

HT3258 why won't parallel work with Mountain lion

I just downloaded Mountain Lion, but the parallels program isn't working... I have to have parallels for school... do I need to go back to Lion or is there another fix?

Can Parallels work on a mac os x snow leopard v10.6 or later, or is snow leopard outdated?

I've looked into options on running windows on my laptop, and bootcamp didn't satisfy me as much as Parallels did, but when I went to the Parallels site, it only mentioned Parallels for Mountain Lion. Is there any way I can get a working version of Parallels for my Snow Leopard OS?

Parallels working for anyone?

All four machines upgraded nicely. I have Parallels on two, and it works on neither. I get some message about a driver; reinstalled it on my MacPro and it loads, but when I press "start" to run Windows, it hangs. I'm sure a fix is coming, just curious to see if any others have this problem.

I have Parallels 3.0 working on a MacBook.. am trying with a Mac Pro later this afternoon. I'm using a bootcamp partition and Vista Business. The first couple of times, I got a memory allocation error, and it wouldn't start at all. a couple of reboots later, it seemed to start running. I had a difficult time getting Parallels tools to install, and for about an hour, saw a couple of blue screens / reboots with Vista... but after awhile, several attempts at installing the tools it seems to have settled down and has not had any problems the last 20 startup / shutdowns or so.

Parallels works great, but there is a missing piece to the puzzle....

I've installed Parallels / Win XP on two intel Macs, on a local area network. All is 90% well, and I am impressed with the ease of install, and performance of Win XP when used this way.
Problem: Both systems can print from the windows desktop, to networked printers. The only thing not working in windows are the Browsers. Firefox and Internet Explorer launch, but no pages open. It is as though Windows is not "aware" that it's networked.
What am I missing here? It almost seems that there is some other network setting needed. Does something need adjusting under System prefs / Network?

Does any version of Parallels Work with Mountain Lion

I use Parallels does any version of Mountain Lion work with it..

I am using Paarrallels 7 and now 8 successfully with Mountain Lion on the iMac.

Can't install win xp using parallels. worked fine with 10.4

parallels 3.x installs fine, But im trying to install xp from the cdrom, and it's been on the screen for over an hour... "setup will complete in about 39 minutes"....
seems nothing is installing... its just sitting there....
worked fine w tiger.
anyone else having issues installing on leopard?

How to make Auto Parallelism work?

We are running Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production. We have upgraded from 11gR1 recently. We are building a data warehouse in the instance of Oracle I am writing about. Heretofore we had been using hints in queries to take advantage of parallelism. We were hoping to achieve a performance boost by using the new "automatic degree of parallelism" support in 11gR2, but are having some problems understanding how to use it properly. From reading the Oracle white paper on parallelism http://www.oracle.com/us/products/database/twp-parallel-execution-fundamentals-133639.pdf , we had thought that by setting the database initialization parameters properly, and removing the query-level hints, and removing the parallel specifications in the table declarations, that Oracle would automatically determine the correct level of parallelism, and apply it. Instead, we have found that the removal of the hints and declarations results in a single-thread execution for our data-load queries, which load 100s of millions of rows, involving joins among tables that each contain more than 90 million rows. Reapplying the hints significantly improves our throughput. During the time we are running the data loads, the data load is the only significant user on our system, and our goal is to complete execution as quickly as possible.
The PLSQL packages that load the data issue a "ALTER SESSION ENABLE PARALLEL DML " before running the loads.
Here are our database initialization parameter settings that relate to parallelism:

One common mistake is to not run the IO CALIBRATE before enabling AUTODOP=AUTO
you may need to tweak this value or set it manually to something like (0,200,...) -- Check MOS for more on this
this requires a bounce of all instancesAlso: there are thresholds that need to be surpassed:
.e.g the default 10 seconds for parallel_min_time_threshold would suppress parallelism attempts for shorter queries vs. longer
If default load has thousand of short queries this may not be the parameter for you: However you can decrease the threshold to a lower value
such as 5 seconds or less.
EM is a good place to monitor parallelism in real time ( or historically)
- You might consider testing and reviewing if the above is relevant
Last- Trace files including 10046 or 10053 should show AUTODOP being used
- If this is LIMITED but the parameter is AUTO, you probably have no io calibrate stats
