Parameters not Working with Links

Hi everyone, I have a question about opening pdf files with hyperlinks. I am trying to open a pdf file to a specific page number with a hyperlink from a word document. The hyperlink I'm trying to use looks something like this:
file:///C:folder/file.pdf#page=5
As far as I can tell, that should open the pdf to the 5th page. But no matter hwat I've tried, the pdf is always opened to page 1. I've trying using various different word processing programs, and even opening the hyperlink with different pdf viewing programs. But even with Adobe reader, the pdf still always opens to page 1. I've also tried opening the file with other parameters, and none seem to work. Interstingly, if I copy and pase the link into my browser (but not open the link with my browser) it works as desired. But I'd rather not copy and paste the link every time I want to open it to the correct page.
So can anyone offer me a suggestion of why the parameter isn't correctly being applied when I open the document? I'd be really grateful for any help you can offer; thanks.

Turns out this only affects Firefox, a possible workaround is to set the browser to open new pages in a new window rather than a new tab. It looks like this workaround may work fine in FF 3.0x, but not in FF 3.5.
This was traced back to a bug in FF. A workaround solution is due to be put into SP3

Since Reader X previous view tool not working with linked documents

We have many linked pdf documents. After upgrading to Acrobt Reader X we can´t go back to the parent document by using the "previous view" command. In older versions we can use this function to navigate back. Is there an option in the preferences to reactivate this possibility?

I have been told by Adobe support that this is not a bug, but a security feature.
Our company has, over many years, developed for our most important software application a PDF help system with hundreds of books and thousands of pages. There are myriad links between and within the books. In order to make navigation through this morass easier, we have provided our users a starting "Main Menu" with links to the books. We also set it up so that only one PDF is open at any given time ("open in same window" option), otherwise a user could end up with hundreds of open PDF documents on their taskbar or desktop. We also have our users take advantage of the "Previous View" mechanism to make it easier to navigate while keeping only one window open at a time. (The browser "Back" button trick will not work with PDFs that have been closed).
However, Since version X of the Reader, the Previous View mechanism will not work with PDFs that have been closed. That is, you can only get back to a previous view in another PDF if it is still open. As mentioned above, this could leave our users with hundreds of open PDFs, and thus it is not an option for us. But Adobe has ignored our pleas.
You must vote with your feet; that is all Adobe understands. Adobe does not care about our needs and we have given up on them. We are currently telling our users:
"If you use a non-Adobe PDF reader, you will be able to install it on a system alongside any version of Adobe Reader, including version 10. We have found that Tracker Software makes an excellent free product called PDF-XChange Viewer, which may be downloaded HERE. PDF-XChange has a smaller footprint, is faster, and has more features than Adobe Reader, including a 64-bit version for Windows XP/Vista/7.
To set up this program to optimally use our help system, go to Preferences, and under "General," specify that the Documents Layout be Single rather than Multiple. Then you will be able to use the Alt keys with the arrows, or the Previous/Next View buttons on the toolbar, with closed PDFs."

Page parameters not working with Omniportlet in 10G

Hi,
I have a fresh install of 10G (infrastructure and Portal in separate homes on the same machine). I can create an SQL-based Omniportlet with parameters, and it works fine. When I create page parameters, I cannot map them to the Omniportlet parameters. The "Portlet Parameter Values" section shows my portlet as "No Parameters".
I have verified that my page group has parameters and events enabled.
Here is what I'm doing:
1. Fresh install of 10G with Infrastructure and mid-tier in separate homes on the same machine.
2. Log in as orcladmin
3. Create new page group. Open page group properties and click on 'Configure' tab. Verify that parameters and events are enabled. Click Close button.
4. Add Omniportlet to default region.
5. Click 'Define' omniportlet
6. Choose SQL. Enter SQL text 'SELECT table_name FROM user_tables WHERE table_name LIKE :tbl'
7. Define database connection
8. Define bind variable Tbl as ##Param1##
9. Set default value of Param1 to %, and check 'Customizable'
10. Click 'Next' and accept all defaults until the wizard is done.
11. See results of query on page.
12. Click 'Properties' on page header
13. Click 'Parameters' tab.
14. When the tab opens, the omniportlet is listed as (no parameters) in the Portlet Parameter Values section.
15. Create page parameter tbl_name, set default value to %
16. Cannot map page parameter to portlet parameter, because my portlet is listed as (no parameters)
Is there anything I can do to make this work?

This is a known issue, that could be fixed easily:
you need to refresh the OmniPortlet provider from the navigator.

Midi Parameters not working with FCP X Effects

Hi...
I am creating a FCP X Effect in Motion 5.
In motion I am assigning a Midi Parameter to the Level Input Black Slider.
In Motion it works perfectly and the while turning my midi controller the Levels Input Black follows along, nicely.
Then I apply the effect inside FCP X but nothing happens when I turn the midi controller.
I HAVE published the midi node to the template but it somehow in FCP X it doesnt work...
Is FCP X not capable of Midi ??/

From the last 10 days the HAL auto-mount with ntfs-3g file system of my external hard drive does not woks.
But the manual mount procedure with the command mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdb* /mnt/XYZ works.
I've followed the instructions in the wiki: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HAL and the system has worked up to the last kernel or HAL update.
My fat32 usb-stick works without any problem.
If I try to open the device with KDE it appears an error popup wit this message:

I have done the following:
Downloaded the patched hal version.
used makepkg in /abs/local/trunk/ to create a pkg for pacman
used sudo pacman -U pkgname to install it.
used sudo nano /etc/hal/fdi/policy/preferences.fdi to create the fdi file with the following content:
saved the file and removed my ntfs entryes from fstab and rebooted. and still there is no automount off ntfs partitions.
have i done something wrong?

WARNING: what follows is a guide of what did work for me, I'm still in an early stage of learning linux, so please correct me if anything of what follows is wrong/dangerous/stupid. As I said, this worked for me, it's not pretty, since I was learning each step on the fly and I'm sure there are better ways to do this.
So fjodork, you seem to have done the the necessary steps, though i couldn't get it to work until i first removed hal without dependencies
pacman -Rd hal
it will give you some warning about the dependencies, ignore it since we are reinstalling hal in a few steps.
First i tried to follow Raymano's link, obviously it showed me nothing in the browser so I thought it might be a broken link.
So I downloaded the source tarball from here http://hal.freedesktop.org/releases/hal-0.5.10.tar.gz
unpacked it changed the /tools/hal-storage-mount.c as per Milfadoodle's instructions.
at first I tried to compile directly from source, the process would finish without a glitch though after reboot nothing changed, as if hal weren't
installed, i guess there were issues with paths. anyway read on
Then repacked the source in tarball, copied it to /var/abs/extra/system/hal and modified the PKGBUILD as follows

Safari not working with Yosemite- incompatible with google search too

Ever since I upgraded my macbook pro, Safari has been slow. In the past 2 days, it's more than slow - it's impossible. I am able to get to pages I have bookmarked or get to links in email documents - but every time I try to do a search using the search bar in Safari, it hangs. Sometimes I get a list of possible websites (after a few minutes) but if I click on any of those, Safari just hangs there and won't go. I even had to use Chrome in order to generate this question in the discussion groups. Does anyone have any suggestions other than using an alternate browser. Is it possible that google and Safari on Yosemite are incompatible? I did try using the "Develop" menubar option and chose DuckDuckgo as the search tool and it worked a bit better.
This is now the 2nd big issue I've had with Yosemite -- it totally would not work with my Adobe Photoshop Elements program -- I spent hours on the Adobe forums and discovered that 100s of others were also having issues. It turned out to be a problem with Yosemite and the trackpad. Adobe finally came up with a temporary plugin that allows Elements (and other Adobe programs) to run.

Try a Safari reset.
Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items. Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History and Web Site Data. The down side is it clears all cookies.Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site.

we want to integrate SAP BW Bex Queries 7.3 into an Enterprise Portal 7.3 EP ABAP Stack only installation.
1) We have Done SSO between EP And BI System
2) System Object is Created
3) When we trying to create Iview of BEX 7.3 report, its executing that report on BI server, we don't have java stack on BI System
4) We have updated the required table in Bi system for executing the report on EP
5) RFC is OK, System Object Test is OK, Report is working independently from Business Explorer, but not working from EP
There no irj services available on BI system, as it is only ABAP stack.
Can anybody help us in achieving our requirement

Side Note: I wrote a reply to a thread that was from 2013. I do apologize because the link was sent to me by my bf and I did not realize how old it was. Since my reply has to be approved I can't delete it.

I bought my Dell laptop last year and at first I did not realize that it had only one audio jack (combo, as the specifications manual says), I only noticed when I was trying to plug in my Ozone Rage ST headset.
I searched online threads and found out that I needed an adapter and most people mentioned Headset Buddy. I couldn't find any adapters for sale in my country (or employees didn't really know what I was talking about) and since Headset Buddy is a bit expensive, I decided to try StarTech Headset adapter for headsets with separate headphone/microphone plugs - 3.5mm 4 position to 2x 3 position 3.5mm M/F www.amazon.com/.../ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top.
It arrived today and let me tell you that I can't make it work. I can hear everything but I can't get the external mic to work or even be detected. I have always used my headset (mostly for gaming) and I prefer to use my external mic rather than the internal one. First I connected my headphone and mic jacks to the adapter and only after that did I connect it to the laptop combo jack. I also tried vice-versa. It didn't work, regardless of the order. I even tried with a different headset and it still didn't work. What else can I do?
I have also found a thread on Dell forums saying that Headset Buddy doesn't even work on Dell Inspiron 15, model 3521. So since it doesn't work and I'm assuming StarTech doesn't, either, what am I to do/buy?! I am getting extremely frustrated and I'm very disappointed with Dell because the brand should have included with the laptop a proper working adapter for these situations and not make its customers buy an extra accessory to make whatever working gear they already had function. It just doesn't make sense to me! Either make the changes work properly or simply don't touch anything. I spent some of my savings on this laptop which, overall, is great but now I am being forced to spend more on an item to allow me to use my headset. I am running out of options here and even Dell can't seem to tell its customers with 100% certainty what really works for this specific model.
If I can't make the adapter work, I just hope I can return it, otherwise I'll end up with no refund and with a piece of equipment I have no other use for!
Any thoughts?

This is the first time I was forced to buy adapters such as these so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if there's anything else I can do to make it work. When I plug the adapter to my Dell, the laptop presents me with several options such as: headphones, headphone, speakers, skull candy headphones, etc (maybe some may have different names but since I see them in Portuguese, I'm not quite sure how they appear for someone who has the computer in English), I have picked different options and it still doesn't work, the only noticeable changes are sound quality related, I guess.

I read your post and see that the printer is making noise and is stuck initializing. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
I have provided some steps to try to see if we can resolve this issue.
Check and remove any packaging material inside the printer and toner.
Disconnect the USB/Network/FAX and power the printer on Standalone.
Do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
If the issue persists, perform a power drain by disconnecting the power cord from the back of the printer and keeping the power button pressed for 30 seconds and in case of a power switch keep the switch in ON position for 30 seconds before reconnecting the power chord.
Update the printer's firmware by a USB connection. Software and Drivers.
Select Option 2 and wait for the page to load and then select the link for firmware. This resolved the previous posters issue.

In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
What happened prior to this issue? (paper jam, changed toner) Any feedback would be appreciated.

HP B500 Wireless Bluethooth Adapter for HP Printer Not Working With Windows 8.1

I have been using the HP BT500 bluetooth Wireless adapter to print wirelessly to my HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer. I have been using Windows Vista, but recently upgraded to Windows 8.1. I learned after the upgrade that the HP B500 wireless bluetooth adapter is not compatable with Windows 8.1. I have attempted to find a driver upgrade for the B500, but there does not appear to be one available. I have also searched the HP site and other sites in an attempt to locate an alter wireless blotth adapter to replace the B500, but have again been unable to locate one.
Is there a wireless bluetooth apter that will allow me to print wirelessly to my HP Office Pro 8500 from my laptop?

I noticed that your HP B500 wireless bluetooth adapter for your HP Officejet 8500 is not working with Windows 8.1. I am sorry to hear this but happy to look into this for you!
I am not sure if you are using a 32-bit or 64-bit Operating System. But sometimes with Windows 8.1 you can use compatibility mode to install an older version of the driver. Which might help the situation. Here is a link to some other Windows drivers, HP bt500 Bluetooth USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter Drivers.
Once you got a driver downloaded, follow this guide, Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows, on how to install it using compatibility mode. It is not guaranteed to work, but it is worth a try!
If you still need me to look for other bluetooth adapters, please respond with your printer's Product/Model Number. To find your printer's Product/Model Number follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number. As there are multiple HP Officejet 8500 printers.

RRMXP does not work with GUI 7.20

Hi Experts,
I have the following problem. RRMXP does not work with GUI 7.20, BEX 7.0 launches and I have to enter proper user and password. (I get SAP Logon screen with listed systems)
It works properly with GUI 7.10 and I have not to log into BEX.
Did anyone encounter such problem? Does anyone know what causes the problem?

Hi,
RRMXP uses OLE to launch Microsoft Excel together with the SAP BEx add-in. Then it use a macro within BEx to open the workbook. check whether BEx is not installed properly (run SAPBEXC.XLA under C:Program FilesSAPFrontendBW) or the Excel macro security settings prevent execution of the macros.

It was totally separate. I just now went back to a previous email from Apple to that secondary address which urged me to transition to iCloud. I followed the link and it prompted me thru the process and the address is now able to send/receive emails. Thanks.

I went to Control Panel > Devices and Printers and i tried to add a new device as the bluetooth doesn't appear this is what i got. By the way the bluetooth was on.

Recovery did not work with new hard drive

The original Toshiba HD(250G, sata1) of my laptop( ) crashed.
I bought new one (320G, sata 2, Western digit )
The problem is that, when I tried to use the recovery CD that I used to use it with old HD before, it did not work with this new HD well!?
After cd1 and cd2 finish installing it ask to take it out then restart, I do so, but when it comes to setup setting of windows.
An error message come out says " Windows Setup could not configure Windows on this computer’s hardware”
It restart and says again " Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on theis compuiter, restart the installation."
I have been trying to solve this a lot, but no way
