  • What is the difference between partner function and partner type

    Hi Gurus,
What is the difference between partner function and partner type?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi John,
The partner types allow us to distinguish between different business partners such as customer, vendor, employee etc and the partner functions represent the functionality or role each partner plays within the business transaction.
For example under the partner type Customer, you will find - Sold to party, Ship to party, Bill to party, Payer.
The business partners that exist in the market place are represented with a partner type in the R/3 system. Examples of business partners are customer, vendor, employee and contact person.
The following partner types are defined in the partner processing for the sales & distribution module –
    a.     AP – contact person (06)
    b.     KU – customer (07)
    c.     LI – vendor (08)
    d.     PE – employee/personnel (09)
Assigning the partner functions in the SAP system determines the functions of particular partner in the sales process. One partner may take on several functions also.

  • Passing Partner function and Partner number in Action container editor

    Hi all,
We have a requirement to create a follow up transaction with different business units as partner functions depending on some logic. I tried defining one action using copy_document method and was able to pass the container values of partner function (CRMT_PARTNER_FCT) and partner number (CRMT_PARTNER_NO) along with transaction type (process_type). However, still the follow up transaction does not contain the relevant partner function and value.
Please let me know is there a way I can default differnt partner function and partner number while creating a transaction based on my actions.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Varun Gupta

Thanks maggie, I know couple of options using code like the one you mentioned in copy badi. There is another BADI only for partner function. I can activate it in the access sequence and can do my code over there. However, in actions (copy_document specifically) we can pass parameter like transaction type, activity category etc. SAP standard implementation automatically takes those parameter into consideration and create subsequent transaction with right transaction type and activity category. On similar basis I have also tried sending partner function and partner number without any success. So I thought of raising this and need all CRM experts advice on it.

  • Difference between partner order and partner oject?

    hi all,
Can any one please explain the difference between partner order and partner object?
What is the purpose of partner object from controlling perspective?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    S.Sumana.

    Hi Kumar,
coming to customization in between SO(Rush order) and OR(Standard order).
    Go to VOV8 T.Code.
The Rush order has the details as "Under Shipping tab",
There will be "X" mark in the immediate delivery .
the Rush order will be having the order related billing.
But the Standard order can be either Order related or Delivery related.
In Standard order after creating the order we are going to create the order we are going to create the delivery by using "VL01n" T.Code.After that we are going to create the billing by using "VF01" T.Code.

  • Bapi_po_create1 - partner function and partner number problem

    hello.
let me just first state that on ecc5 this problem doesn't exist.
we are in the middle of an ECC6 upgrade right now and i have a problem creating a PO through the BAPI on the ECC6 upgrade system, needless to say that all customization was copied from ECC5.
when trying to create the order i get an error MSG ME 350, "please enter partner number" .
i didn't get the error in ECC5. customization hasn't changed in ECC6. I've checked Ecc6 customization on MM->purchasing->partner determination. entering a partner function isn't mandatory and we've never entered a partner function before in the PO header besides the vendor number.
    please help.
    thanks,
    Oren.

    hello.
the note suggested doesn't help my case.
can someone please suggest a different solution?
maybe in ECC6 the partner function is set by default to some value? and therefore expects a partner function?
    thanks,
    Oren.

  • Regarding ports and partner profiles in ALE.

    Hi All,
Please tell me how to transport the partner profiles and ports from Development to Quality systems.
    Please reply asap.

SALE Area Menu for ALE configurations. It includes transactions for
Logical System definition and linking it to a client, Transactions for
RFC Destination and Port Definition Etc.
    SM59 RFC Destination
Here we specify the login settings for the destination including
the I.P address or Application Server name and the User name and
password. The information entered here is used to run Remote Function
Calls(RFC ) on the destination server .We can create number of types
of RFC Destinations but 3 types are important .
    R/3 (R/3 to R/3), LS(logical system) and TCP/IP.
The name of the RFC destination should be same as that of Logical
System as it helps in creation of automatic partner profiles.
    WE21 Port Definition.
There are 6 types of ports but only 2 types File and Transactional RFC
    types of ports are important.
We have to specify the RFC Destination before a port can be created.
    WE20 Partner Profile
Here we create partner profile for each and every partner from / to which
the messages will be exchanged. There are 6 types of PF generally only
profiles of type LS(Logical System) ,KU(Customer) ,LI(Vendor) is used.
We specify the partner number and partner type and the agent and
the agent type responsible for handling of errors .
For every message send to the partner we have a outbound record and for
evry message coming from the partner we have the inbound record .
We specify the message in the otbound/inbound records ,double
clicking will take us to the detailed screen where the IDOC Type ,Port
and whether the IDCO will be immediatelt processed or collected are
    mentioned.
    Reward points if helpful.

  • SO via inbound EDI. partner problem LIFNR - PARTN

    Hi,
Working on PO -> SO interface. Question on populating VOE4 (EDPAR).
in the inbound IDOC I have this segment:
    E1EDKA1:
    PARVW: AG
PARTN: external customer number (in my case it is purchasing organisation)
    LIFNR: 'blank'
In forums it is told that segment LIFNR should be populated by external customer number.
What is the difference between PARVW and LIFNR? Does VOE4 look at PARTN for substitution?
in my case seems that it ignores PARTN at all..
    Thanks,
    Artashes

I think what you need is the following.
On the EDIDC record, field SNDPRN, you need to have the Sold To customer number mapped.  You'll also need to have the SoldTo setup in WE20 with a partner profile.
You can send in an Order to SAP with a Logical System in the above field but you then have to have the PARTN fields filled in with the correct Sold To Ship To.  Which you typically would not have.
On the KA1 segments, you'll need two KA1 segments, one for the Sold To and the Other for the Ship To.  Since you already would know the Sold To since you put it in the EDIDC record, just fill it in the PARTN field, unless your partner wants their store number back.  Personally I would set it up this way with the external store number.
So you'll want a KA1 record with the AG qualifier for the Sold To and the LIFNR field filled in with the partners external number for the Sold To.  This could be the Duns number or N1/04 code.
On the second KA1 for the ship to, set the qualifier to WE for Ship To and then fill in the LIFNR with the external store number.
You'll now need entries in VOE4 for each KA1.  Customer would be the same as the Customer in the EDIDC record, field SNDPRN.  external function is either SP or SH.  External Number is the external number, either the DUNS number for the Sold To (Most likely) or the N1/04 code for the ship to.  Int No is the Internal customer number for the Sold To and Ship To.
    Sold To 55555
    Customer Sender ID/Dunning #  123456789
External Ship To Store #  321
WE20 setup for  Sold To 55555
    VOE4 setup for 55555    SP    SOLD TO   123456789  55555
    VOE4 setup for 55555    SH    SHIP TO     321              55555
I think what SAP Messed up on is the fact that we should not have an external cross reference or hard coding mechanism to populat the SNDPRN  with a customer number for inbound transactions in order for the EDPAR table to work correctly.  You can have a logical system at the EDIDC level but would need to populate the correct Sold To and Ship To on the KA1 segments.  When using the LIFNR fields, SAP Uses the SNDPRN, External Partner Number and Partner Function on the KA1 record to determine the Internal Customer Number.
If anyone else has an opinion please let me know.   I would love a way to be able to cross reference the Dunning Number for a partner to a Sold To within SAP and allow for the LIFNR fields to be used for the Ship To's.

  • Logical system and partner profile configuration

    Hi,
I have a SQL server which is defined as a Business system in my landscape. It is sending records to ECC 6.0 which makes it a JDBC to IDOC scenario (inbound IDocs)
First question is do I have to mention a logical system name for the SQL server Business system too ?
Second question is do I create a Logical system in the ECC system (BD54/SALE) for the SQL system or would it be for the client of the ECC system itslef?
Third question is do I maintain partner profile configurations in WE20 for the SQL business system or for the ECC business system?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    S

    Hi Sam,
    > First question is do I have to mention a logical system name for the SQL server Business system too ?
Yes, In SLD You have to specify logical system name of the SQL server business system while creating SQL system. After importing business system into Integration directory,in Adepter-Specific Identifiers  you can see logical system name of SQL server business sytem which you defined in SLD.
    > Second question is do I create a Logical system in the ECC system (BD54/SALE) for the SQL system or would it be for the client of the ECC system itslef?
Yes,You have to create Logical system in ECC system for SQL system(Logical system name must be with the same name as logical system name you have given in XI SLD in previous question)
    > Third question is do I maintain partner profile configurations in WE20 for the SQL business system or for the ECC business system?
In WE20 You have to maintain partner profiles for SQL server Logical system
For example: If SQL server Business system name is SQLDEVBS and logical system name is SQLDEVLS
In ECC you have to create logical system as SQLDEVLS and
Partner profiles for SQLDEVLS in WE20.
Please let me know if you have any issues.

  • Configuring ALE Logical Systems and Partner Profiles

    hi,
Trying to build a scenario which deals with two third party systems transfering XML file from one to another. Sender is using a file adapter. Reciever is using an Idoc adapter. However the pre-requisite mentioned for this exercise are that ALE logical systems and partner profiles must be configured (these steps are not outlined in the exercise) . Could i get help on what steps i need to carry out for sender/reciever to configure logical systems and partner profiles.
    regards,
    Manpreet

    Hi Manpreet
At the R/3 system the partner profile should be maintained for both the third parties.
for creating the partner profile go to transaction we20, give the
partner number :your logical system name or customer number or vendor no
    partner type:LS(logical system)or ku(customer)OR LI(vendor)
give the message type in the outbound parameters
after this double click on the message type and give the login deatils for the RFC destination define the port and all
if you still have problem please reply back
    Thanks

  • Change log for Distribution model and partner profile

    Hello All,
Could any one please suggest how to get teh change log of the distribution model and partner profiles in SAP.
    Thank you!
    Arvind

    Hello,
The documentation says what distribution model is used for. My question is can we have change log for any change in the distribution model like user, time and date.
In production system if distribution model and partner profiles are changed by someone to a destination which should not be used, then how can we trace who has changed it.
I hope I am able to explain.

  • Message determination and Partner function LS (Logical system) for PO

    Hi,
I have worked in the past with vendors (VN) as partner roles in a PO, with the message to create an EDI outpout to Partner Type: LI (Vendor), and this works succesfully.
Now, the idea was to use in EDI, a Partner Type: LS (Logical system) as a receiver of EDI messages (message types: ORDERS) for inbound Purchase Orders to the Partner.
So, we have set up a respective message condition, with Partner Function: LS  (Logical System), in transaction: MN04 (Create Output-condition records).
    A. When we use ME59N and create a PO with ref. from a PR (created from a sales order), the message determination works well, it reads the condition set in MN04 (condition records for messages), and creates a message (with output type for EDI , medium: 6, and partner function LS: Logical system). Message is created and idoc is sent to partner.
    B. When we try with ME21N, ME21 and we create the PO with ref. to the same PR, either by entering manually the PR in the document overview of ME21N or by selecting the PR (without entering the PR number), i.e with date, the message is not created in the PO.
Company code is assigned to purchase organization, and so is purchase organization to plant.
Any idea why there is no automatic message determination in the case of the transaction: ME21N?
There is a single message condition that is to be read for both cases (trans: ME59N and ME21N).
Note: If I try ME21N, and enter the output type and partner (=Logical System), manually, I receive a warning message :
VN006 (Partner XXXX does not exist for partner function LS). If I accept this warning message, then message is saved- idoc is sent.
However you can not assign a partner function LS to a vendor, in vendor master data, because of message CZ 327 (Can not use this partner role).
Anyone with similar experience? Thank you for your advice.

    Hi,
I well understand that the receiving partner can be a partner: Vendor (LI).
    I have seen that working.
However, in the Partner Profiles (trans: WE20), the receiver was created as a Logical System (LS).
We want the partner Logical system (LS) to receive the idoc for purchase order (ORDERS).
After that, I think that the idea is that the LS can generate an idoc for a sales order creation that will then outbound to another partner.  I think that this is the concept.
The issue is that I have seen that the POs created with transaction: ME59N, have received from message determination (trans: MN04) the message with partner LS (automatically), and the idoc of the purchase order (ORDERS) have reached the partner LS.
The question is why the message determination fails when creating the PO from trans: ME21N or ME21, with reference to the PR. Message condition is the same and message determination procedure is the same for both cases.
There is no issue with customizing for the LS in trans: WE20
(Port processing agent is Active for LS and ORDERS have the proper processing code for application EF).
I hope I am helping more with this.
