Passing filter values from column formula in OBIEE 10g

Hi,
I am trying to pass filter value from the column LY Spend YTD columns where we have a filter option and passing the year filter 2013 as below.
FILTER("Fact - Purchasing - Invoice"."LY Spend YTD" USING (Time."Year" = '2013'))
My goal behind doing this is, we have a filter already present for the whole criteria on the year which is 2012.
But specifically for this column i dont want to pass the year 2012 to it, Instead I want to pass 2013 to it. But I am not succeding the result is blank.
Please suggest and let me know if further understanding is needed.

Thanks for you reply.
I cannot do that way because some measures are satisfying with year 2012 and displaying the data and other measure are satisfying with 2013.
I am working on LY Spend YTD, LY spend YTD - 1, Spend YTD and Year ago spend.
So thats the reason I have thought that way of passing the filter in column formula irrespective of criteria filter.
Please suggest.

Other work around is to keep the Region column as Dimension in the pivot table (in column section) and use common measure.
it will be piovite table having
...............Asia..............Europe..........xyz
month.....measure........measure....measure
2012-01......220.............300...........955
2012-02.....3434...........5485.........656
here the measure will be common.
I this case if you click on measure, region column will also be prompted. You can use Is Prompted for month,region in sub report.
In your old case region wont be prompted.

Error while passing prompt value in Column Formula

Hi All,
I have created a dashboard and added a dashboard prompt on that with a presentation variable named "promptdyn" that is basically showing bank names.
Now i want to calculate the market value based on this prompt selection, so i edited the column formula as
"WM FACT Sec"."MARKET VALUE" * EVALUATE('getBankBaseCurrencyValue(%2)' As Double,@{promptdyn},"Industry Type".INSTRUMENT_CCY)
But it is throwing this error:
\nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.
\nQSError: 22051] The argument number 1 is not referenced in this evaluate expression: getBankBaseCurrencyValue(%2). (HY000)

I don't know what is wrong here.Here i tried to pass the value of the prompt to the function.
Basically I have created a function in the database with two parameter as "bank name " and "Currency" and calling it with the help of evaluate function.
How could we store the prompt value and pass it to some other function?
Pls help me as it is urgent for me to solve.

Just i missed out to write %1,%2 in the evaluate function.
But one thing i need to know that how can we store the value that is selected in a prompt say in dashboard prompt so that it can be used in query. Because i need to select a value first from the prompt and based on that i need to manipulate the values of the other request of the dashboard.

Passing filter value from one Tab to Another

I have a web template that contains 5 tabs and I want to use dropdown webitem in the main template and affect all the tabs with the selected value.
Is it possible? If yes what is the code etc.

Hi Amit,
I'm actually implementing the same scenario you just described, my TABs web templates Data Providers doesn't have a fixed definition of the query/query view, I do a reset_data_provider during runtime (when user clicks on the tab and based in a char selection - single drop-down box).
Now since my TAB data provider is refreshed with a new query/query view each time I go into a TAB the home screen filters or selections done within a navigation block (around 25 chars) doesn't impact the "local" tab table.
Is this your scenario as well?, any guidance will be more than welcome.

Pass filter value from one wad to another

Hello Guys.
I'm using BW version 7.
I have the following issue.
I have a WAD that displays 32 link items, representing a country for each link.
The user selects the country he wants to see and then another wad is display with 2 tables and 2 charts with information, but I want that this information get filtered based on the country link that the user selects.
For Example, if the user selects country 1.
The information of tables and charts in the other wad have to be filtered by conutry 1.
How can I do this issue.

Suppose you are having two web templates with technical name TEMP_1 and TEMP_2.
In TEMP_2 you should be using a query having a variable var_con that populates Country
Write the following code in Template Temp_1 using ahref (Please use proper anchor tags. i have not used it below because it was not allowing to write HTML code )

So in your temp1 you can se two hyperlinks as sown below.

Click on that it will take you to Temp_2 with the value of var_con populated accordingly.

I have model node element under which there are 7 values, and I've created value node element and trying to pass the values from the model node Element to this value node element. But instead of passing all the values its listing only one value.
How do we rectify this problem!!!

Filter Function in Column Formula is not working properly

Hi,
I am using Filter Function in Column formula tab in Answers to calculate the Total sum from the start of the Fiscal month to the Month selected from the Prompt.
My requirement is I have total sales column. Now I need to calculate TYYTD kind of thing for which I cant use the Time sereis due to my report constraint.
Instead of that I am using this Filter function on TYYTD column where i am giving the filter as start of the Fiscal month to the month selected from the Prompt.
For example if I select May month from the Prompt then this TYYTD column should give me SUM(Total Sales) between Feb and May for which I am using the Filter Function. But it giving me only May sales whcih is same as Total Sales column.
Can anyone throw some light on this as this is very important for us or any alternate solution other than Time sereis measures.
Did anyone got this kind of issue with Filter Function?

Ok...here's the steps to fix this as efficiently as possible. I have a whole bunch of mailboxes under "On My Mac" and they have a bunch of mailboxes nested in them. I get my messages into Apple Mail via IMAP. (I don't know if this matters.) The steps below assume you have a similar setup.
1. Hold the Option key down and click the dropdown arrow next to each mailbox that has one. This will cause all nested mailboxes below it to appear.
2. Go to the top of the list of mailboxes under "On My Mac" and highlight the first mailbox. Then hold the Shift key down and highlight the last mailbox in the list. This will cause all of the mailboxes and nested mailboxes to be highlighted.
3. From the menu, select "Mailbox --> Rebuild" and the rebuild process will start.
4. Watch the top of the mail screen to see the message count change as the mailboxes are being rebuilt. Wait until the activity stops before doing the next step.
5. As the mailboxes were rebuilt, many messages were reset as "Unread" even though every message was previously "Read." Make sure the mailboxes you want to affect are still highlighted. Right-click and select "Mark All Messages Read."
That fixed the problem for me.

How to pass the value from Sub report to main report

I have un report(mainreport) within a subreport(subreport).
With reporting services, how to pass the value from Sub report to main report?

Hi Alebet,
With reporting services to pass values from sub report in to main report is not supported directly.
But there are some workarounds through which you can get this .
There are two ways to get this.
1- Put your sub report query into some table. i mean to say through the subreport query get some temporary table.
2- Using this temporary tables data write some Scala function in the data base.
3- Now in your main report query return this scala function as a column.
4- Extract the column value where ever you want in your main report which is getting calculated from the subreport query. so you will be getting the values returned from the subreport in the main report.
This will definitely work fine as i have done some report in this way.
Another way of doing is that
1- prepare another data set with the same query as in sub report in the data tab.
2- then refer this 2nd dataset in your main report .
But better way will be the top one.
Anyway please let me know if you get the solution.

How to pass multiple values from workbook to planning function ?

I have created Planning function in Modeler and it has one parameter(Variable represents = Multiple single values).
When executing the planning function by create planning seq. in the web template : I see value of variable store data like ...
A.) input one value -> V1
B.) input three values -> V1;V2;V3
This function execute completely in web.
However, I want to use the planning function in workbook(Excel).
The value of variable can't input V1;V2;V3... I don't know how to pass multiple values from workbook to parameter(Multiple single values type) in planning function ?

Pass a value from a PL/SQL function to a javascript (html header) ? ?

Hey Guys,
Have a question regarding how to pass a value from a PL/SQL function to a javascript in the HTML Header.
I have created a PL/SQL function in my database, which does looping.
The reason for this is: On my apex page when the user selects a code, it should display(or highlight buttons) the different project id's present for that particular code.
example= code 1
has project id's = 5, 6, 7
code 2
has project id's = 7,8

Export your internal tables or work areas to a memory id in ur program before u use submit.
Then in second pgm you have to import from memory id given above.
example.
EXPORT gs_header FROM gs_header to memory id 'HEADER'.
EXPORT gt_item FROM gt_item to memory id 'ITEM'.
SUBMIT YFIIN_DISHC_MAILREPORT EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY AND RETURN.
In your second pgm you can write
import gs_header TO gs_header from MEMORY id 'HEADER'.
import gt_item TO gt_item from MEMORY id 'ITEM'.

Steps:
1. First create an instance for bapi and bind the instance to the bapi node.
Z<bapi name> zb=new Z<bapi name>();
wdContext.nodeZ<bapi name>. bind(zb);
2. Then if u have the import parameter u have to set them by using
    The instance of the above bapi.
    Zb.set<import parameters>;
3. If the bapi has a table parameters then the structure for the table parameters will also be imported
   In the model class.
4. Set the table parameters by creating the instance for that structure and using this instance set it.
   Z<Struct>itm tab=new Z<Struct>();
   Tab.set<table parameters>
5. Then add the structure instance to the bapi instance.
    Zb.add(Tab);
6. Then Execute the bapi after setting the import parameters.
7. If there is any export parameters, then get the values after execution.

Is it possible to pass a value from the list to another page..

Hi everyone,
I created a (list region) on a page and there is a FORM on the same page.I am trying to pass a value from that page to another page when the user selects one of the list entries.I tried with SET THESE ITEM.. WITH THESE VALUES in the list entries like
SET THESE ITEMS--P13_TESTING_ID
WITH THESE VALUES --&P10_ID.
but its not working for me.I want to pass that value only when the user hits that list entry.Is it possible to do.

Assuming P10_ID is an item on the FORM, I think , the form would have to be posted (submitted) for the item's vaue to be available in session state.
