Password protection problem

Hello!
I recently purchased Lenovo G500 and, for some reason, it stopped asking me for a password when it directs me back to the log-on screen after being on screen saver. Also, it sometimes does not notify me when the e-mail comes, even though I my notifications are on for Thunderbird in PC settings. Pease excuse any mistakes in English, and thank you in advance for your help!

I am no expert but I just did a web site as well. If you want to protect it in IWEB click on your welcome page and at the bottom of the page you have a menu selection click on the icon for the inspector. looks like an italizised I then click over the menu option at the top of that that says password. you should be able to do it that way. good luck marty

Password protected iWeb sites - problem with login

This is an FYI regarding a problem I recently encountered. Neither MobileMe, nor Apple tech support or specialists were able to resolve it, but I finally figured it out.
I created a company website for my client, including secondary websites that were password protected in order for her clients to download support materials for her classes. The passwords worked fine last night, but this morning we could not login with the setup passwords. Even when we changed them and tried to re-upload the entire site, we could not. I don't know specifically what changed, but we went through a plethora of solutions over many hours, but to no avail.
In the end, it appears that how we setup the domain was where the problem existed. We have our own domain through Netfirms, which we set up to use in MobileMe as per the instructions. In Netfirms however, when you log into version 8, it does not give you the option to change the CNAME, as MobileMe states needs to be done. Instead I had set up the domain to forward to our "web.me.com/company" site. This was the problem.
To correct this, I turned off the url forwarding and logged out of Netfirms. Then logged back in, but into version 6 of the control panel. From here I was able to setup the CNAME as web.me.com. And ta-da, once it updated on the server the entire site and all password protected areas are working as needed.
Phew.

To password protect a site, folder or page when using a server other than MobileMe you need to either enable this in your control panel or do it using a .htaccess file.
The server side script is the most secure way to do it. There are javascripts that you can use but they are less secure.....

IPhoto - MobileMe gallery subscription - problem with password-protected

I am having a peculiar problem with subscribed galleries from MobileMe in iPhoto 08 and iPhoto 09. For galleries that have password-protection enabled, the full URL of the gallery subscription feed is pulled through as the Subscription title instead of the gallery title.
For example "http://gallery.e.com/ACCOUNT-NAME/XXXXXX/?webdav-method-truthget&depth=infinit y&feedfmt=atom....
This doesn't occur for public MobileMe galleries. The title of the gallery comes across and the URL of the subscription is hidden.
Anyone having similar problems? Local Genius Bar couldn't help and assumed it was just a bug, but it doesn't seem to be typical of Apple.
As an aside, it would also be nice to have these feed subscriptions behave similarly to the way RSS subscriptions work in Mail, with the ability to select how often the feed is queried and indicate the number of new items. This would alert users of changes to feeds.

Upon further research, it appears that this problem occurs when publishing from either iPhoto or Aperture to MobileMe. The problem seems to be when a gallery is published and one chooses not to have the gallery appear on the main gallery page (hidden). It seems to have nothing to do with whether or not one protects the gallery with a password.
So, Apple, if you are listening, can you provide any information on how to have the title of the gallery come through when subscribing using iPhoto while at the same time not listing the gallery on the main MobileMe gallery page? This seems to be a fixable bug.

You'll need to remember it or recreate the PDF from the original file.
If there were an easy way to get around that, passwords wouldn't be worth much.

Problem with Mac Office Password Protection

I'm running Mac OS X 10.7.5 with MS Word for Mac 12.3.5 and MS Excel for Mac 12.3.5.
I created a Word (.docx) and an Excel (.xlsx) document on my Mac at home, both with password protection. I uploaded the documents onto Google Drive. I was able to open the documents a few times with the password on my Mac at home, and on my PC at work. However, now upon opening the docs, Word and Excel say the password is incorrect (both home MAC and work PC).
I know I'm entering the correct password. I'm 100% positive. I was able to open the docs a few times previously just a day before. Now they're completely inaccessible. My questions are:
(1) Is this a common problem with Mac for Word/Excel docs?
(2) Are there ways to recover the password (a dictionary based brute force solution is unlikely to work, as I use non-word passwords with numbers)?
(3) If this is a common problem, are there other alternatives to password protecting or encrypting Mac for Word and Excel docs that don't cause problems?

Could just be thats the way it runs on Rosetta. I called in apple to ask if I could return office '04 because I didn't want to take the chance, they were more than eager to return it for me because of the fact it would be slow/maybe have problems running in Rosetta.
I just got iWorks instead till the universal version of office comes out (which if you buy office '04 you'll have to buy the new universal version as well, or so the rep told me).

Creator Startup problem: Password Protected Site

Hi, does anyone know why this happens. I've been using this version of creator for a few months and now every time I startup it pops up a box with the title Password Protected Site and asks for a username and password. If I keep pressing cancel it goes away but I need to do that like 20 times. I've tried my sun developer password - doesn't work either. Does anyone know what the password is?

after installing Netbeans 5.5 in a VMware environment (Version 5.5, Host: Ubuntu 6.10, Guest-OS: Windows XP) i was able to reproduce this problem.
In my environment i'm behind a proxy, which is automatically configured via Internet Explorer.
After getting this weird "Password protected site" popup i remembered cealex solution and tried my Proxy authentication. Et voila. it worked (i had to put it in twice!!!). So i think, whenever it has a network connection it tries to download new contents for "Articles & News" and "Blogs".
I feel that it is just a weird popup header ... ;-)
I'm also a newbie to Netbeans.

Password protected song problem

I have over three thousand songs and about half of them won't play due to being password protected. I typed in the password to my e-mail account and it doesn't say anything but it just keeps asking me the question. Finally I decided to make a new password for the account because obviously there is somethign wrong with my old one. I made a new one and it still doesn't work. When it asked me again I typed in the new one, didn't work. Typed in the old one again, that still didn't work. For my Itunes account I have had a new email name for about two years. So to see if the password I was thinking about was the wrong one I logged into Itunes with the one email where half my songs are password protected and I logged into it fine and logged out. I have no idea why the password is not unlocking my songs. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

So...do you have purchases on more than one iTunes Store account? If so, you'll need to authorize for both of them. If authorizing isn't working, it can sometimes be caused by a missing shared folder or other issues. You might try these suggestions:

Problem accessing password protected podcast

Hello,
I'm having trouble accessing a password protected podcast. I'm not asked for my username or password. The download fails silently. When I click on the exclamation point in the left columb I see the following message:
There was a problem downloading "http://rss.somepodcast.net/podcast/podcast.xml".
Authorization is needed to access "http://rss.somepodcast.net:8080/podcast/podcast.xml".

I'm using iTunes 7.0.2 on MacOS 10.3.9. Has anyone experienced similar problems? I discovered that I could access the podcast if I hand edit a copy of the feed and insert my username:password into each link.

Network problem - 2 networks set up, how do i delete one, password protect?

I originally set up a new network, but didn't use the software that came with the router. It never allowed me to put in a password. I then put the software in, but it created a second network which is now password protected. Now I cannot delete the first network, or password protect it. It still allows connections, and is unprotected. How do I delete this network, or password protect it so nobody can join? I tried going to Network Preferences>Advanced>Security and setting a password, but every time it does not stick. Please tell me how to solve this problem. Thanks

It's one router, one computer, one connection- but my airport finds 2 networks with different names that are from my one internet connection, along with other people's wireless networks in my area.
The first time I connected, my network was named Linksys1. After having problems with this network, I inserted the router software for assistance, and instead of editing the first network, it created a new one, Linksys2.
Now there are two networks, Linksys1 is unprotected, and Linksys2 is protected. I cannot modify or delete Linksys1, but I (and other people) can still connect to it. When I go to the router link in the browser, all the settings are for Linksys2 only.

Why does the new version of Firefox not integrate with Norton 360 Identity Safe. Problem for me because I use Norton 360 Identity Safe to manage my passwords and make it more difficult to use password protected website without that add-in.

OBIEE 11g having problems with password protected PDF files.

I have been able to get an analysis in OBIEE 11g to display PDF files.
However, some of these documents contain sensitive information and must be secured. Since anyone with access to the file name
could simply type in the proper path in the browser window, this is unacceptable. In order to try and prevent this, I created a pdf file
that is protected with a password.
Opening the file by itself, produces the desired results. The password is requested before the file will open.
When I open the file through my analysis in OBIEE, Adobe reader activates, but the password is not requested and the file does not open.
It is as if OBIEE is somehow not sensing that Adobee is asking for a password.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

FYI, in case anyone is interested, I found out what is going on.
I created the original password protected PDF using Microsoft Word. I did this because I do not have a full version of Adobe Acrobat that allows me to create files.
On a hunch, I found someone that has a full version of Acrobat, and had them create a password protected PDF file. This file worked perfectly.
Apparently, Word is not strictly adhering to PDF guidelines, and OBIEE senses the differences, resulting in the file not opening properly.
Something to keep in mind for anyone linking to password protected PDF files in OBIEE.

I can't access the page in any browser without a MobileMe/.Mac password to open iDisk. I was planning on launching this site with students tomorrow so they can access my lecture podcasts securely on my site. I can't give them access to my iDisk password obviously. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Adobe DC/ problem with password protected documents

I downloaded Adobe DC on my android tablet for school work. When I try to open my textbook it is password protected and I am unable to enter my login details.... please help?

Do you get a username as well as password field or just a password field to enter your login details? Is your PDF file, 'ProtectedPDF' by Vitrium? Currently, Adobe Acrobat DC on mobile devices does not support third party DRM protected pdf files. You will have to open the same on the desktop.

Problems with password protection.

Hi guys,
my site was password protected and now when I republish it and visit it, it doesn't block me anymore... (I don't have to type anything, it just opens the page) in the inspector panel it still looks like the thing has a protection - password and user name - but I can access it anytime I want without it.
It drives me nuts... there is no way to tell if the thing is secure or not... is it a new update issue? I don't get it.

Your password protected site will accept either the username/password you specified in iWeb OR your .Mac username/password. Either can be saved in your browser cookies or wherever so once you are logged in, you won't necessarily have to do it again.
