Passwords aren't saving

I recently installed Firefox on my new computer (Windows 8). For some reason, I do not get the option to save my email password. (I've gone through all the password help provided by Mozilla so please don't repost those. Also, my email password is the only one that doesn't get saved.)
I know I can save my email password because I did on my old computer. The only difference between the computers is the operating systems (previously on XP). Is there a reason why I can't save my password in Windows 8 when I could in Windows XP?

login.yahoo.com uses ''autocomplete=off'' (maybe they've introduced it a short while ago - it won't affect passwords already stored before such a change in firefox profiles), so our prior suggestions of using an addon or a bookmarklet to circumvent this restriction should work to address the problem...

• Safari will not clear my username and passwords it has saved

I am trying to get Safari to clear saved usernames and passwords from the saved list and it refuses to do so. I've done everything from go into settings and click edit on the usernames and passwords and click remove and even remove all and nothing happens. I've also clicked on file and reset safari and my usernames and passwords still aren't deleted. Whatever happens, I do not want to lose my bookmarks though; those are very important to me.
Thanks,
Travis

HI Travis,
In Safari Preferences - Autofill
Make sure: user names and passwords is deselected.
Open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left.
Delete all the keychains for the sites you don't want user names and passwords saved for.
Relaunch Safari.

• Why is it when i take a picture with my new iphone 5S, the pictures aren't saved to my photos?

why is it when I take pictures with my new iphone 5S, the pictures aren't saving to my photos? The only pictures showing up in my photos are the ones from when I first restored my phone from icloud.

Hi AmishCake.
I tried that and it didn't work.

• When I click on the popup to remember password it doesn't take. The popup just sits there. I close it and password is not saved. How do I fix this?

This is not just problem sites like gmail or yahoo. Every site I go to is having this same problem. Window pops up asking to "remember password for x on x" and I press the "Remember Password" button and nothing happens. The popup just stays there like it didn't register my response. Finally I close it and ultimately the password is not saved. It's clearly a bug but I can't figure how to fix it. Any suggestions?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
It is possible that there is a problem with the files key3.db and signons.sqlite that store the encrypted names and passwords in Firefox.
Rename the files key3.db and signons.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder.
You can add .old to the file names (key3.db.old and signons.sqlite.old) or move them to another folder to make it possible to undo the action.
You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting key3.db and all currently saved passwords are lost.
If that has worked then you can remove the renamed files that are no longer needed.

• Root password not being saved

When I enable the root user it asks me for the password, then password verification. Then when I leave terminal I disable the root user. Next time I enable it, it again asks for the password and to verify it, but I can enter ANY password and get into SU in terminal. So anyone that can get to enable the root user and set a password. This is dumb or I am not understanding something here. The computer should remember the last password and use that password and not allow just ANY password to give super user access???
Rachael

I would be uncomfortable leaving the root user enabled. Frankly speaking the root password should be saved once I set it then disable the root user, saving that password for the next time I enable the root user it. Why is there even an option to change the password if it is not saved. Stupidity. Even setting the password in terminal with the passwd command will not save it. Stupidity. This is not how it worked in Snow Leopard. You set a password and it stuck. What is the point of having a password for root, it anyone can enter anything to reach it. Stupidity
But thanks for the suggestion

• FTP login and password are not saved on some sites

On some of my sites the FTP login and password are not saved
(even though the "saved" box is checked). Dreamweaver 8.0 on XP
SP2. I can export the site information and then import the same
file exported and there still will be no login or password placed
in the login or password window. I opened the exported .ste files
in notepad and found the login correct and the password incorrect.
I uninstalled Dreamveaver and reinstalled still same
problem.

Ok, I just spent about 3 hours on this. Here's the latest
that I've found. I had looked at the knowledgebase and my registry
matched what was suggested. As this has been an ongoing issue for
me, I thought it was still an issue. Apparently 8.02 did have some
improvements.
I can only guess that many of the 36 sites I have in the Site
Manager lost info before the .02 update.. or I hope so.
I did however discover that there is still what could be
considered a minor bug. I went in to Manage Sites and selected edit
for all of my sites, fixing the ones that had lost their user/pass
info. I'm not positive, but I think only the last edited site kept
it's data.
I discovered after many checks on all the sites, over and
over and over, that it appears that they are now holding the data,
but, if I add the user/pass, I must not only click the OK button to
close that particular site, but I must also click the 'Done' button
before only that one will be saved.
So, I thought I was fixing logins when in fact I was only
fixing one at a time.. Completely closing 'Manage Site' seemed to
hold one new set of login data each time. Seems that it shouldn't
be this way.
But I must say, I am rejoicing at the moment, as I actually
have all my sites set up with FTP info and I am now looking forward
to hopefully adding more and maybe they'll actually be available
for the next editing session.

• Messages sent from a shared mailbox aren't saved to the Sent Items.

Messages sent from a shared mailbox aren't saved to the Sent Items.
In my enviroment , I have Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2007 - i have a shared mailbox called
ServiceDesk. I have added this mailbox to user "Mike" and given mike "Send as Permission" .
The problem
When ever mike sends an email from ServiceDesk
- the email goes to his personal sent items instead of the sharedmailbox
sent items. Is there a way to force any email sent from serviceDesk Mailbox to its own sent items folder? .
More information
Below is a similar solution to my problem but i do not want to make any changes to my registry. Please any other solution to this?
http://www.msoutlook.info/question/278
Thanks guys for your help ..
Regards, MassonTech

Hi,
This is maybe the wrong forum for this question, but anyway;
Thie site you were pointing out's solution is valid.
Please look in to the following KB article that describes the steps needed to solve this issue. A hotfix package (which you might not need and a a "fixit" dowload for it, but will also change the registry key.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972148
If you have a larger environment and would want to deploy the registry value, I'd suggest using Group Policy Preferences Registry settings.

• How can I force Safari v.6.1 to Save passwords for sites that request passwords NOT BE Saved"?

Since the last OS X update when Safari was updated to version 6.1, I am having problems with passwords not being saved from specific sites that request that passwords "not be saved".
Example: Adobe.com
I did not have problem with Safari 5.1.
When I go to Safari Preferences and "click on box" "Allow Autofill even for websites that request passwords not be saved", a pop up box opens and refers me to "SECURITY & PRIVACY" indicating that a "SCREENLOCK" must be engged to allow for this action.
I have my firewall on.
I don't understand what they are requesring me to lock & how to do it.
Anyone who understands what I am being asked to do -or- how I can re-enable password saving, please email me.
Thanks,
<Email Edited by Host>

Actually, Linc's reply is EXACTLY the answer that is required.
If you go to the setting he mentions and enable the password after screen saver or sleep, then Safari 6.1 will allow you to save all the autofill login information you like, even the stuff for sites that request not to save them.

• Passwords cannot be saved in version 22. worked fine before the upgrade. I am NOT in the "Private Viewing" setting. It just will NOT save passwords.

The "dropdown for "Save passwords is NOT grayed out. Clicking the "save password box does NOTHING. I am running Windows XP SP3. The previous version (21) worked fine. Version 223 does not allow for passwords to be saved. I am NOT in the Private viewing mode. The ""Remember Passwords for sites" box under Tools/ Options/ Security is checked. "remember History" shows on Tools/ Options/ Privacy. As I said: Save passwords is no longer working with version 22. It worked on version 21. No settings were made with this upgrade. I am on another computer that does NOT have version 22 on it. I refuse to upgrade this computer.

This does NOT work either. If you are not running Windows XP SP# and Firefox 22 please do not make these suggestions. These two "suggestions" do NOT work either. The problem is inherent with Firefox release 22. It will NOT allow the saving of passwords. Again: if you are not running Windows XP SP3 and Firefox 22 please do not offer these "suggestions"....

• Play counts and ratings aren't saving

So far I've been using iTunes for a year and I haven't had any problems until now. So here goes:
As far as I know this has started since I've updated to iTunes 8.2. My play counts and ratings aren't saving when I exit iTunes and start it up again. When I plug in my iPod Classic it syncs up to the old setup and doesn't update playcounts either. At first this happened when I added a new CD and started rating the songs and playing it. Then last night I bought 3 tracks off iTunes Store and all of a sudden it started saving my playcounts and ratings for that past CD. Now today when I started rating and adding playcounts to those new tracks I bought it won't save anything again. It's like it saves the file when I add something new but always reverts to that spot whenever I open iTunes again. I hope this makes sense, haha.

Ok, I found out that when I added another new CD it seems to stop saving all information once I try to rate the new files, or something like that. For example, I started changing the 'Sort Artist' category for the songs and afterwards started to rate them. This was before I clicked 'Get Album Artwork' as well so then when I closed out and opened iTunes again it had the 'Sort Artist' info right but in the wrong spot and the artwork wasn't there. One song was missing too. Is this a corrupted Library file then? It won't save any changes for any of the other songs either. It always reverts back to the old info. I'm really not sure what to do.

• Can you add an Add Password to the Saved Password window?

There are some sites that do not prompt Firefox to save my password.
Is it impossible to add an Add Password to the saved passwords screen for times when I revisit the site?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Never remember history).
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
*Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"
The website might be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving form data like name and password.
*You can toggle the signon.overrideAutocomplete pref to true on the about:config page.
*You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox store form data like names and passwords.
Note that Firefox won't auto-fill saved form data automatically when autocomplete=off is used, so double-click the empty name field to get a drop-down list.

• "Allow AutoFill even for websites that request passwords not be saved." not appearing in Safari 7.0.3 prefs

A December 2, 2013 Apple FAQ says that you can go to Mavericks:Safari:Preferences:Passwords and select "Allow AutoFill even for websites that request passwords not be saved."
However, this checkbox does not appear.
The features and management of iCloud Keychain are causing concern among users.
I share these. For example, today I chose to let Safari produce a complex password for a Chase credit card site. Yet, when I went back to that site to sign in, I could not. Nor was that password in the list on Safari!
This is not good. For iCloud Keychain to be trusted, it must be very reliable, and we must be allowed to manage it.
I was forced to reset the password for Chase, and had to refuse Safari's offer to use their suggested password (as I would possibly never see it again!)

Safari version 7.0.4
That option is no more available.

• Firefox is saving passwords, but not saving them to my Keychain (Mac). Why?

My web passwords are usually saved both in Firefox and the Mac Keychain Manager. Recently I've noticed that there are many passwords saved in Firefox but not in Keychain Manager. Why is this, and does the problem lie in Firefox or Keychain Manager.

• I have updated my iPhone 4 for the first time in about a year. I had synced it so my photos should be safe but it's now telling me I have to restore. I'm worried I will lose my messages and whatsapp videos as I have a pc so these aren't saved elsewhere

I have updated my iPhone 4 for the first time in about a year. I had synced it so my photos should be safe but it's now telling me I have to restore. I'm worried I will lose my messages and whatsapp videos as I have a pc so these aren't saved elsewhere

Restore from backup and everything will be exactly as it was when the backup was created.
Restore as new and the device will be as if it just came out of the box.
