Paste image from clipboard works in Chrome but not in Firefox

Hi there,
I would like to know a bit more about the technical reasons why image pasting from clipboard works on Chrome but not Firefox.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the text editor on github.com, e.g. by commenting on an issue
2. Copy an image to clipboard
3. Put the mouse cursor into the text editor area
4. Use CTRL+V to paste the image into the text editor
On Chrome, the image is pasted and automatically uploaded on Github. On Firefox nothing happens.
Can someone please shed light on this lacking feature?
I would so much love to see support for this on Firefox as it is a very convenient functionality.

The best is to try it yourself I guess.
Go to Github and try pasting an image into the compose editor.
The editor definitely supports image pastings. They work directly in Chrome(ium).
Thus I am wondering why Firefox does not support direct pasting from clipboard into the editor.

Do you see the Java plugin in Tools > Add-ons > Plugins ?
Firefox is a 32 bit application, so you need to install the 32 bit Java version.

ActionScript 3 paste image from clipboard

Is it possible to paste image from clipboard using ActionScript 3 and Flash Player 11?
Need web solution only, not AIR.
Use case:
- User opens image some in some native image editor.
- Selects part of image and clicks Ctrl+C (Command+C on Mac). Now part of image is in clipboard.
- User open web application that is running in Flash Player
- User inputs image by clicking Ctrl+V (Command+V on Mac) or using context Menu->Paste.
I browsed the docs for Clipboard at: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/desktop/Clipboard .html
The only format that seems reasonable would be Clipboard.getData(BITMAP_FORMAT) on paste events. This seems to be supported by AIR only.
Are there any ways to implement the given use case with Flash Player?

P.S.: There is some support of paste events in HTML in Chrome and Firefox, but Internet Explorer 10 and Apple Saffari 6 seems still have issues with pure-HTML approach.

What gives you the impression?
AIR-only functions are marked with a fancy AIR logo
(like the first one in this list: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/images/sprite-index.png )
and getData doesn`t have it, so it should work without problems in the "normal" Flash Player if you follow the recepy:

Clipboard.getData() will return the contents of the clipboard only if the InteractiveObject has received and is acting on a paste event. Calling Clipboard.getData() under any other circumstances will be unsuccessful.

What operating system are you using? Is it 32 or 64 bit? Given that the addon appears and is "enabled", you might want to try these steps:

In addition, are you using any virus/firewall software that might be interfering? You might want to try rebooting in safe mode with networking enabled to see if Flash works under that scenario.

Why does my webcam transmit fine in html5 in Chrome, but not in Firefox?

On every website I try, Firefox does not support getusermedia, so I cannot transmit audio and video data from my Windows 8.1 tablet in html5. Thus, I cannot use Firefox Hello. I have tried tinkering with numerous settings in about:config, but nothing works. I have exactly the same problem as this guy:

In Google Chrome, however, there are no problems with this. This is not an add-ons issue, as I have uninstalled all addons and have re-installed Firefox anew twice. On a friend's Windows 8.1 laptop, however, there is no such problem. So what, exactly, can I do to remedy this situation?

I just wanted to post an update for other readers for this. I just want to provide assistance to others. This is a combination of Muse, which I love, Dreamweaver, which I like, and WordPress.
If you design a single page in Muse and do not design anything in your master page - just design it on the "home" page. Anyway, after you do that, you can "cut up" the HTML and CSS in DW, then add the code snippets of WP (also in DW) to get a CMS system into the design. I went back and just created a very plain simple design in Muse, then did the above and it worked. I still have a ways to go to figure out other things.

Medical app from Intuit works in IE, but not Firefox.

Encrypted medical app works in new IE, but not Firefox. Everything works down to the end, and click on "continue" and nothing happens. A tech and I have spent hours on this. Did not work on FF5 or 6. Did not work on old IE, but did on fresh new version with no data files copied in.

If it works in IE but not FF, then it has nothing to do with the mp3s. More likely it's because of the HTML on the page.
To start, page is missing DOCTYPE declaration... a MAJOR problem. The DOCTYPE declares which set of rules the browser will use to display the page. Without it, different browsers go crazy or do not work at all.

Copy/Paste Image from Clipboard - still no support for transparency?

I just tried to load an Image from the Clipboard by using DataFlavor.imageFlavor. Everything works well if the clipboard-image doesn´t use any transparency. When loading an image with alpha-channel (png or gif), the transparency occurs as black pixels. Here is the code snippet:

I think you have to update Firefox the call you are using needs 12 or higher:
"Gecko 12.0 (Firefox 12.0 / Thunderbird 12.0 / SeaMonkey 2.9) and later support using XMLHttpRequest to read from data: URLs."

Playing of video from NRK.no works in IE but not in Firefox why?

I am trying to see TV progs from the Norwegian Broadcasting System nrk.no. I have searched after Windows Media player pluginn and instaled them to no avail. Opening the same site in IE and all is well.
What do I do to avoid using IE??

The images might be embedded as CID (Content-ID) (src="cid:image") that link to an image that is attached to the message.<br />
Firefox doesn't handle images embedded that way.
You would need an email program like Thunderbird to see the images.
