Patch Manager lists patches i already installed... help!

Update Manager is still showing 173 patches which i already installed on May 20th.
The "Installed Patches" section is showing 0 patches.
I am Running Solaris 10 on x86 Dual Xeon
Once all the patches were applied I linked 2 folders off to *{color:#0000ff}/export/home{color}* to save space on the root drive...
but as far as i was aware this should not make a difference.
Below you can see my {color:#0000ff}*/var/sadm*{color} folder
# pwd
/var/sadm/patch
# cd ..
# ls -al

When i cd to {color:#0000ff}*/export/home/var/sadm/pkg*{color} it lists 1057 packages.
In the Update Manager, the spool directory is{color:#0000ff} */export/home/patches*{color}, there are no patches in here. I cleaned them out.
When i attempt to install an already installed patch, it fails (which is good) but doesn't remove the patch from the list.
Has anyone any ideas how i can get Update Manager back to normal?
Thanks
Michael

Try moving the files in /export/home/var/sadm/patch and /export/home/var/sadm/patch back to their correct locations.
You might then find that updatemanager works as expected again. Did you ever stop to think what those directories were used for?

  • Adobe Application manager says I have already installed programs when that is not true

    Hi there,
I have a CS6 subscription, and whenever I try to download and set up an application, it says that the program is already installed on two computers. Which is not true as I am going for the first install of that program.
I just spent an hour waiting for InDesign CS6 to download and install, and now I cannot start using it as it says it is already on two computers. AIt would be good to get the warning saying the program is already set up on two computers BEFORE I wait an hour for the program to download and install.
Online chat is not available and the phone number on the website is for the USA. I am in Australia.
How can I get help to solve this problem? I have NOT installed InDesign CS6 before, so how can the Application Manager think I have already installed it twice?
What is wrong with the application manager or my subscription? I am paying monthly to get access to CS6 programs and I am just getting error messages after a long wait.
    Very frustrating.

Sam if you are receiving the message that the software has already been activated on two other computers then please choose the deactivate all option.  You can then activate on your computer and then reactivate or activate on another computer.

  • Error "Version 3.1.04063 of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is already installed" - help !

    hi,
I've tried to install AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client on my computer (Mac OS 10.6.8), I've never installed it before on this computer, however when I want to install  i got the message
"Version 3.1.04063 of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is already installed"
I would be thankful if anyone could help me with this problem !!!

Would I be correct in assuming that you are trying to do a manual install of the AnyConnect client when you get this error? Have you ever used this MAC to connect to an ASA and to establish a VPN? If so it is quite likely that AnyConnect was installed in that on line session and does not require a manual install.

  • Application Manager says Photoshop is already installed?

Finally decided to join Creative Cloud. Downloaded the latest version of Adobe Application Manager, and I can't download Photoshop because it is listed as "Up to date." I need to fix this problem ASAP!
Note also that I previously had CS5 (master) installed on my computer (I use a Mac), but before I did any of this, I removed all apps from my hard drive (including emptying the trash). Not sure if the two are connected, but if so, I find it strange that only Photoshop is the problem when I had the full collection?
    Thanks

Uninstalled Application appears as still Installed. SOLUTION:  I'd like to share something about Uninstalling apps . Sometimes when installing an  "X" app (using the Adobe Application Manager) a piggy-back app "Y" gets installed, also. And this without you noticing.  To succeed uninstalling, make sure both the main "X" app and its piggybacks ( "Y" ) are also uninstalled.  Normally, the uninstaller window will ask you if you want to uninstall the "piggy-back" app(s).  Say Yes ! You wanna uninstall everything that the uninstaller window proposes you.  Otherwise, Application Manager will consider app "X" as still Installed and/or updated, etc.
It happened to me with PREMIERE (my "X" app - the one that I really needed).  By installing Premiere, a piggy-back came along (app "Y" - the one that I didn't know would be also installed ).  That piggy-back was Adobe Encore. It was not until I uninstalled Encore, that Adobe Application Manager recognized my previous Uninstallation of Premiere.  My Fault !  Because, when I started to uninstall Premiere a little window pops-up, and asked me if I also wanted to remove Encore.  I said No.  And that's why Premiere was still showing up as "Installed" in Adobe Application Manager.  So, I uninstalled Encore using the uninstall app inside Encore's folder, and now I'm ready and clean to make fresh installation of Premiere (and its piggy-backed Encore).  Funny, because, Encore means "AGAIN" .  Here we go encore ! GOOD to share this.  Adobe Cloud rocks!  Peace !  fr. Luis "Netweaver"

  • I can not open my doc in pages it keeps asking me to download the lates version and when i go to apple store it is saying already installed, help please?

I can not open pages it keeps telling me to download the lates verison, does anyone know where that is?

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

  • Updatemanager shows patches already installed

    Hiii !
I'm using the updatemanager on Solaris 10 x86.
Recently I installed the kernel patch 118855-36 (you have to do that manually).
( By the way: the patch was not signed. How come ? )
After reboot the updatemanager comes up with a lot of patches, around 90.
When I try to install those, most of them (if not all) fail, because they are already installed.
How do I get rid of them ? Where can I tell the manager that tey are already installed ?
On other computers we have similar problems since years ;-)
Updatemanager comes up with patches for packages that are not even installed.
    Thanks in advance, felix

First, I am a hobbyist running Solaris 10 within Parallels on an intel Macbook.
When I tried to patchadd 124631-03, the result was
The following requested patches will not be installed because
no patches required by the patch are installed on this system.
0 For patch 124631-03, required patch 119082-25 does not exist.
consistent with what felix wrote in reply 5. Unfortunately, I am not a paying customer and was not allowed to download 119082-25 (although I was allowed to download 124631-03).
I can only hope that both patches will show up in update manager so that I can install them from within update manager .

I'm using ZCM 10.2 RC1 and am trying to test Patch Management. I have patch management working, patches have downloaded and DAU is running. One thing that is not working is the dashboard. I have flash installed but the dashboard is blank. Are there any special requirements for the dashboard? Has anyone else got it working?
BTW, I'm running ZCM under Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 SP2.

I uninstalled Acrobat X to try and resolve some issues with plugins, but Adobe Application Manager insists it's already installed and won't let me download or attempt to re-install it again..

  • Installing MS Office Updates using SCCM 2012 patch management.

    Hi,
We have SCCM 2012 in our customer environment, we would like to deploy MS office 2012 non-security updates using SCCM patch management. Can someone help me how to configure non-security updates on SCCM 2012 and deploy the same.
    Regardsm
    Madhan

The process of deploying non-security updates and security updates are the same.
    As a side note:
To reduce the numbers of required updates, you can also download service packs, and other updates (msp files) and copy them to the update folder of your Office installation source. Then they will be installed as part of the Office deployment process.

    Hi Anne,
Your version of Safari is still supported.  Please see Adobe Flash Player | Tech specs for supported OS and browsers.
If the Flash Player plugin is in the Plug-ins (disabled) folder it's because it's an older version that Apple has disabled in Safari.  This has nothing to do with whether or not Flash Player supports the browser.
I'm not sure what you mean by "when i click on flash player itself i am told there is no application to open it."  Flash Player.plugin only works in the browser to view Flash content in the browser.  The plugin does not open files outside of the browser.  If you have SWF files you'd like to view outside of the browser, then you'll need the Flash Player projector. However, based on your previous comments this doesn't appear to be what you are trying to do.
Google Chrome does embed Flash Player in it, while Firefox does not.   Mozilla has also recently started blocking older versions of Flash Player in Firefox similar to what Apple is doing in Safari.
Following the 'clean install' instructions should result in you having the latest version of Flash Player installed that will not be blocked by the browser.

  • How to install "Oracle Universal Content Management 10g Patch Update Bundle

I have downloaded and installed Oracle Content Server 10g r3 , and i did a simple cycle for a work-flow , and after that i downloaded "Oracle Universal Content Management 10g Patch Update Bundle", but when i opened the file i found that it contains many folder and some without a setup files , so how can i install the patch update bundle file ?
    Thanks

Although what Srinath is true and correct, it is advised that you always install all the enabled components. The only situations where this is not the case is where:
    1. You have a newer component than is in the bundle (i.e. you recently had a patch for that component which is newer than the bundle).
    2. You have customised the component in question for your own use - in which case a newer version would overwrite your customisations.
Otherwise, you should install all the enabled components if possible.

Not sure how it happened. Original admin is no longer with the company. My guess it was installed with a -G in the global zone? Is there some magic that will apply the patch to the zone w/o backing out and reinstall in global zone? The install of 144500-11 is bombing out because zone does not think patch is installed:
<pre>Patches that passed the dependency check:
    144500-19
Fatal failure occurred - impossible to install any patches.
SUNWlu-zone1: For patch 144500-19, required patch 142909-17 does not exist.

Not real interested in installing 144500-19 with -G but if that's the last resort then...

Patch can be installed in local zone individually. But, 142909-% is kernel patch which you might have read in the read-me. Analyze before you take any action. Also, there are some special install instructions at the end of the read me of 142909, check it.

  • What is the best approach for patch management

    Hi,
I'm new about patch management. I would like to ask you how manage patch on few Solaris 10 servers using command line.
    I would like to know:
    1. Using only command line how to download latest patches
    2. There are some dependencies how to check this and install only those patches which meets dependecy requirements?
    3. Is there possiblity to atomate this?
    4. Is it possible to have one patch server and others servers will download and install this patches?
    5. What if some patches are not installed?
    6. How to find out which patches are necessary and which patches don't have to be installed? Or maybe or patches to be installed?
    7. Could you please describe your approach for managing patches? Or maybe you can recommend some books/web page/articles that can help me to understand patch management.
    Thanks in advance,
    Daniel

smpatch is the command line tool to manage solaris patching. first you need to register yours system - this can be done using sconadm, detailed here:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-9-82688-1
smpatch analyze will list all required patches and resolve dependencies. smpatch download will download all the required patches, and smpatch update will apply them. You can set up a Local Patch Server to download patches, then your clients will download the patches they require from it. This is detailed in chapter 6 of the update connection admin guide
