Patch set 3 of Application Server (version 10.1.2.3)

All,
I just got word that patch set 3 of Applications Server 10.1.2 (10.1.2.3) is now targeted for March 7th 2008.
It includes support for MS Vista, both on the client and the builder.
It does not include certification for Sun's plug-in version 1.6 though. It is targeted for the end of March currently.

Let me explain, although I am sure Jan can clarify further if required when he comes on line.
If for example, 10.1.2.3 came out on the 15 March (made up date) and we said that we have not yet completed our certification testing.
Then between the 15th and the 30th March we run all our tests and everything passes (it can take a week or so to do the testing). Then on the 30th of March we can say "10.1.3.2 IS certified".
So, we don't need to patch it, its just that we haven't completed all our certfication testing by the time the product is released.

  • 10.1.0.5 Patch for Oracle Application Server 10g Release 1

    Hi Guys,
Does anyone know what is the patch number for 10.1.0.5 Patch for Oracle Application Server 10g Release 1?
This is a Oracle Application Server and not Oracle Database server.
I tried searching on Metalink but not able to find it.
    Thanks in advance!
    Avinash.

10.1.0.5 is not a version number for an OAS. It is only a version number for RDBMS.
If you are running OAS 10.1.2.x with the Identity Managmenet/SSO (OID Server), & elected to have it install the Metadata Repository database for you, this was a RDBMS release below 10.1.0.5. The OAS patch to 10.1.2.2 or 10.1.2.3 required the RDMBS be updated to 10.1.0.5 first. This is the standard 10.1.0.5 update for your platform.
    use Advanced Search on Metalink
To find the OAS 10.1.2.2 or 10.1.2.3 patch set, search for Oracle Fusion Middleware Server. Release 10.1.2.2 and 10.1.2.3. Look for the decriptions like "PLACEHOLDER BUG FOR AS/DS 10.1.2.3 PATCHSET RELEASE" OR "PLACEHOLDER BUG FOR AS/DS 10G R2 PATCH SET 2 10.1.2.2"
To find the RDBMS 10.1.0.5 patch, search for RDBMS Server, Release 10.1.0.5. Look for the Description containing something like "10.1.0.5 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER"
The patch number is different per platform, so I can't tell you the exact #s without more info (OS)

  • What order to patch up my application server?

    Hi,
I'm looking for advice on the pathways by which to patch up my oracle application server. it consists of the following components:
    10.1.0.5 Infrastructure database
    10.1.4.0.1 Identity Management
    10.1.2.0.2 Middle Tier
I would like to be able to perform the critical patches on these components however for all except the database I believe that the versions are too low and may need some intermediate patching first. Can anyone give me the upgrade path - order and patch versions - to apply to these components to bring them all to the level where I can perform the critical patches for April 09?
    Thanks
    Adam

    Hi,
Our infra/identity management was installed along with the metadata repository as part of the 10.1.2.0.2 mid tier installation - is it still necessary to patch it individually or can infra/metadata be patched together as one product?
    Thanks
    Adam
Edited by: Adam J Sawyer on Jun 9, 2009 8:25 PMYour case is called a CoLocated infrastructure architecture with both IdMgmt and MetRep sitting on the same instance.
    1. As an instance, they can be patched together. But that means the software upgrade of the instance which holds both of them can be patched together in one shot.
    2. However, it does not mean that the Metadata Repository is also upgraded that way. Metadata Repository is upgraded once all instances (all infrastructures and all midtiers both - even if you have multiple ones for them) are already upgraded.
    3. And I insist, the Order of application of various steps in this Patch Set is important. (See my previous message and compare with the documentation).
The Software Upgrades have to be applied first on all instances, and Metadata Repository Upgrade must be applied later.
Read the documentation referred to about Patch Set 3 carefully about it.
    hope that helps!

  • Which Web application server version to install

We are on Ecc6.0 and planning to install ADS . I found that we need to have web application server  installed for ADS to run.
Can we some one guide me which version of web application server we need to install and location to download that

    Hello,
For ADS you will need a java stack.
Do you have a portal running in your system landscape.
If yes you can use the J2EE engine of your portal to setup ADS.
Using the J2EE engine of another system than the ECC system is explained in the ADS setup guide.
We also have an ECC 6.0 ABAP stack only and activated the ADS services on our portal which we use in the ECC system.
Installing the Java addin on your ECC system is also a solution.
You will have a double stack than, advantage of a double stack is that you always have to patch both ABAP and Java stack to the same level.
On the Java stack you can run the ADS services then.
Double stack (ABAP + JAVA) is still supported by SAP however not recommended.

  • Application Server version 11?

In the Forms forum there have been several posts that state that the next release of Forms and Reports will be version 11. Because Forms & Reports are tied to the release of the application server that implies that the next version of Forms & Report will not be until version 11 of the Application Server is released. Anybody heard anything about a version 11 of the Application Server? Features, release time frame, etc?

Its too early in the cycle really make any announcements about features of timeframes - sorry

  • Which adf runtime library version for application server version

After sifting thru this forum and some documentation, I was left a little confused about installing ADF Runtime libraries to the application server we're deploying our ADF applications to. I wanted to get a definitive answer to a couple questions:
    1) We're using Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.2.0. We've been deploying our 10.1.3.3 ADF applications to this application server. If we migrate our 10.1.3.3 ADF application to 10.1.3.4, do we need to install the ADF Runtime libraries (from jdev 10.1.3.4) to the application server before deploying/running our 10.1.3.4 version of the application on that server? If yes, do we need to uninstall the 'old' ADF Runtime libraries first?
    2) How can we tell what jars make up the ADF Runtime libraries?
Thanks for any help you can give. James.

You always need to have a version match between the ADF libraries on your server and the ADF libraries you develop with.
So if you are developing with JDev 10.1.3.4 you need to install the ADF 10.1.3.4 libraries on your server.
You can do this with the ADF Runtime installer or directly from within JDeveloper's tools menu.
You don't need to uninstall the ADF libraries - they'll be overwritten.
The list of jar files is in the ADF Developer Guide:

  • Patch Set Updates and the version number

Oracle document 854428.1, Patch Set Updates (PSUs) for Oracle Products, has this to say about the version number:
2.3 Baseline Version for Easier Tracking
Oracle associates a version number to the patch. The fifth number of the database version is incremented for each PSU. For example, the initial PSU is version 11.1.0.7.1, the second PSU for Release 11.1.0.7 is 11.1.0.7.2, and so on.
My DBAs just told me that they applied PSU3 to our database, which had version number 11.2.0.2.0. I checked the version number after the PSU was applied, but it is still the same:
    SQL> select version from v$instance;
    VERSION
    11.2.0.2.0
Do the PSUs change the fifth number in the version or not?

    SQL> select comments from sys.registry$history where action_time > sysdate - 1
    COMMENTS
    PSU 11.2.0.2.3
Thankyou, that answers my question. The fifth number in the version column of the v$instance view does not seem to change when a PSU is applied. However, the sys.registry$history view has a record of the PSU with the correct fifth number in the version.

    Hi,
Please, where may I find the patches for 8.1.7 server to download. I do not have access to metalink. I urgently need these patches.
    Thanks

    1. If both databases are using the same ORACLE_HOME , then yes you will be need to shut down both databases and patch each one. Youa re patching the Oracle binaries as well as running new versions of catalog/catproc/catrep etc.
    2. Not srue about number 2. I don't use the web server piece. My guess would be no since you are using a different version.

  • Upgarding 9i Application Server version 9.0.3 to use Java 1.4

    Hi,
I have started to use JDeveloper 9.0.4 on an iAS (9.0.3). As a result I have had to update the BC4J runtime libaries on the App Server which has worked fine. I also think that I need to upgrade the iAS JDK to 1.4.
    My questions are:
    a) How can I tell what version of Java the iAS is using.
    b) How do I go about upgrading if I do need to? I have got Java 1.4 downloaded I just don't know where or how to install it on the iAS.
    Many thanks.

Within the enterprise manager, you can find the version. I renamed my (9.0.3) jdk directory to jdk.9.0.3 then I copied down Java's 1.4 jdk (jdk directory only).
