Patching and auto installing SAPgui for Windows
Hi,
is it possibile to patch directoly SAPgui DVD installation with last released patch so we can install in one way SAPgui 7.10 and last patch ?
is it possibile to install SAPgui with unattended installation and/or without desktop interaction ? ... or with our saplogon.ini settings ?

Hi,
SAP GUI has a Installation server option, You can install installation server, create a package with required components & patch it. This package can be then extracted to a SELF EXTRACTING EXE, which can be installed on PC with minimal quesitons asked while installation.
One problem with this is that, it does not check if Microsoft DOTNET component is installed or not, so you may end up having BI components not working.

I duly did this but I cannot access Skype, it won't accept my Skype name and password combination. Strange: SAPgui for Windows cannot run without SAPlogon installed.
We find out that if there is no SAPlogon installed on a PC, then we CANNOT

The other options are GUI for HTML & GUI for Java.
For GUI for HTML you need to enter the details (Host & Path) of the ITS server in the system object.
In ERP 2005 the ITS is integrated with the ERP system.
For GUI for Java you would need to place the SAP GUI for Java installation files at the server and enter its http location in the "com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap" Service.

There is Linux like Ubuntu which can be installed on a Mac

Thanks!I have had both installed for months. I have not run into any problems with them both being present. I could see there being an issue if you plan to accept a call if you are on another call with the opposite client (since the mic/playback hardware would already be in use).

SAPGui for Windows Multiple Logon with Portal
Hi,
We are using SAPGUI for Windows in Portal in the external window, we are also using it the SAPConsole form the desktop. While using from desktop, the multiple logon (within same client) complains / comes with the pop-up with two standard options.
We would like achieve the same functionality of popup (Restricting multiple logons for the same client) within the portal, any ideas?
I came across certain threads and also notes but none seem to provide a solution....

The best way to authenticate users when they logon using SAP GUI for Windows, is to use SNC authentication in SAP GUi. Then, the browser iview will launch the GUI and the GUI will authenticate the user using their AD credentials issued during the Windows logon. You will need to setup an SNC library on both the ABAP system which the user is logged onto, and the workstation where SAP GUI is installed.
If you don't use SNC, and you just launch SAP GUI for Windows from browser, then an SSO2 ticket is used to authenticate the user to the ABAP stack, and this is not secure due to the fact that the SAP GUI session which is used to pass the SSO2 ticket is not protected - anybody can intercept the SAP GUI session, take the SSO2 ticket from this traffic and logon as that user - clearly this is bad security and needs SNC to make it secure.

SAPGUI for Windows via Portal - problem with frame
We are launching SAPGUI for Windows via Portal to drive single sign-on via AD. Our problem is that when SAPGUI launches, it is contained within an IE browser frame that causes some of the SAPGUI screens to not fit on the screen well. Those same screens fit just fine if we launch SAPGUI directly.

EP6.0 connection to R/3 system without SapGui for Windows
Hi all !
I have installed "SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal on SQL server - Developer Edition Sneak Preview"
- SAP Web Application Server Java 6.40 SP7 and SQL Server 8.0
- SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio SP7
- SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP6
It works fine.
My colleague installed a MiniSAP R/3 on SapDB with WAS 6.20. It works also fine!
Now I want to connect my portal to the R/3 system of my colleague, but it works only if I install a SapGui for windows on my PC. I don't want that! If I uninstall SapGui, the portal ask me to download "com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap ".
I would only like to access his transactions and databases without anything installed on the client pc. What is the solution? Should I implement WebServices? Or is there a simpler way?

Only true if you installed the portal on a 'true' WebAS and not just the J2EE part. Not sure what the latest status is, but not too long ago a EP6 SP3 or higher was not supported on a full WebAS.
So development with the developer studio is the way to go indeed. On the other hand, the Visual Composer is a great tool for showing and changing data from SAP in a table form in a matter of minutes. Maybe this is all you need.
Maybe somebody can explain to me how the integrated ITS on WAS640 really works. I was under the impression that you still need ITS to connect to SAP systems that run on WebAS < 6.40 -

It fails to apply the one of the patches , as Opatch get the CLASSPATH environment variable that has spaces.
The workaround for this to unset the CLASSPATH environment variable and then begin the installation process. Its doced in the release note and install guide. -

The application was installed 2 days prior and works fine but the patch will not install.

Wendy2014Yes let's see if there is any error occurs in installation log.
Meanwhile from the error message, the possible cause is that a part of the application is missing such as a registry key with app version. In this situation you can first test to reinstall/repair the application though it is still working fine - see if issue
persists after reinstall the app.
Meanwhile you could also contact Citrix about this issue. It may be a common issue and Citrix may provide a quick fix for it.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -

I purchased my system June 16, 2009 with Vista downgraded to XP Pro so I was not able to purchase a upgrade disk from Lenovo.
This week I purchased the Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium upgrade package at a local store.
I did the upgrade (clean install) Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium on my ThinkPad T400 type 2764-CTO. Also successfully installed all Win 7 64 bit ThinkVantage software with System Update 4.
I downloaded Rescue and Recovery 4.3 for Windows 7
The documentation for the installation of R&R 4.3 is difficult to comprehend and I could not find a post on this board that deals with my topic.
The recommended procedure before installing Rescue and Recovery on computers running the 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows 7 is:
you must download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package (x64) SP1.
That was done with no problems!
To make the Rescue and Recovery program work with Sysprepbackup in the Windows 7 operating system, you must download and install the Sysprepbackup accessory package.
The Sysprepbackup operation changes in the Windows 7 operating system because a new version of Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE) is built in the Windows 7 operating system. When you run the System Preparation Tool (Sysprep) and use the /generalize option, the Sysprep operation disables Windows RE by removing the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) entry to the Rescue and Recovery Pre Desktop Area (PDA). To make the Rescue and Recovery program work with Sysprepbackup in the Windows 7 operating system, you must download and install the Sysprepbackup accessory package.

Instruction:
To install the accessory package in the Windows 7 operating system and take a Sysprepbackup on a USB hard disk drive, do the following:
Type the following commands to start the Sysprepbackup process using administrative privileges: cd "\Program Files\Lenovo\Rescue and Recovery" rrcmd sysprepbackup location=U name="sysprep backup" The "...run sysprep now..." message displays. Note: Before you take a Sysprep backup on the USB hard disk drive, make sure that there is at least one backup on your local hard disk drive.
Go to the C:\Windows\Systme32\Sysprep directory and launch the sysprep.exe file. The System Preparation Tool window opens.
Be sure to select Quit from the Shutdown Options drop-down list box. Click OK to save the setting. The Sysprep process begins.
When the Sysprep process is completed, run the msi file that you downloaded using administrative privileges. Wait until the package is successfully installed.
Restart your system. Then, it will automatically boot to the PDA to continue with the Sysprepbackup process on the USB hard disk drive. For the detailed parameters about the restore operation commands using RRCMD, refer to the Rescue and Recovery 4.3 Deployment Guide. Software versions to use with this release.
3.At the end Install the Rescue and Recovery 4.3 package.
Ok that should be simple to do.
What is "Sysprepbackup" and do I need to follow the installation procedure above to be able to install and run Rescue and Recovery 4.3 for Windows 7. I dont think I need to or want to do a "Sysprepbackup on a USB hard disk drive". or may be I will when I understand what it is.
Can I simply install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package (x64) SP1 and the the Rescue and Recovery 4.3 package.

Go to Solution.I installed Win 7 Pro 64 on my T400, ran TVSU and installed R&R 4.3. Fortunately, I didn't read those instructions first, or I might not have done it
Have you tried just installing R&R? If it needs anything else, it should ask for it during the install. IIRC, it does require the VCC+ package.

You don't even need to do that. As downloading the drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant can be unreliable, it is better to get the package directly from here:

Copy the .zip file to a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD in OS X. Install Windows as normal, insert the flash drive/DVD in Windows, copy the .zip file to the hard drive, extract it, then run the setup executable. -
I have installed the Windows 8 on my MacBook using BootCamp already, but I cannot install drivers for Windows now: I've got only BootCamp 3 disk and it doesn't goo even if I start it using compatibility options. And my BootCamp on Mac didn't offer me to burn cd with drivers for windows as I saw in many instructions. How can I resolve the problem? Thanks a lot.
