Patching of oracle 10 g

i have installed oracle 10g on linux platform .
i just want to know that how the patching of database performed??????????

Hello,
When you apply a patch or a patchset, in general you, have two main parts:
1. Patching the Oracle Software (the binaries).
2. Patching the Database.
Anyway, for each Patch or Patchset you have a specific Readme to follow carrefully.
More over, some patchs are cumulative this is the case for the Patchset or some PSU (Patch Set Update) or CPU (Critical Patch Update).
So, for instance, if you want to upgrade your database up to 10.2.0.4, you have just to apply the 10.2.0.4 patchset on top of 10.2.0.1 Database.
This link may guide you:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14196/software002.htm
Hope this help.
Best regards,
Jean-Valentin

  • 10.1.0.5 Patch for Oracle Application Server 10g Release 1

    Hi Guys,
    Does anyone know what is the patch number for 10.1.0.5 Patch for Oracle Application Server 10g Release 1?
    This is a Oracle Application Server and not Oracle Database server.
    I tried searching on Metalink but not able to find it.
    Thanks in advance!
    Avinash.

    10.1.0.5 is not a version number for an OAS. It is only a version number for RDBMS.
    If you are running OAS 10.1.2.x with the Identity Managmenet/SSO (OID Server), & elected to have it install the Metadata Repository database for you, this was a RDBMS release below 10.1.0.5. The OAS patch to 10.1.2.2 or 10.1.2.3 required the RDMBS be updated to 10.1.0.5 first. This is the standard 10.1.0.5 update for your platform.
    use Advanced Search on Metalink
    To find the OAS 10.1.2.2 or 10.1.2.3 patch set, search for Oracle Fusion Middleware Server. Release 10.1.2.2 and 10.1.2.3. Look for the decriptions like "PLACEHOLDER BUG FOR AS/DS 10.1.2.3 PATCHSET RELEASE" OR "PLACEHOLDER BUG FOR AS/DS 10G R2 PATCH SET 2 10.1.2.2"
    To find the RDBMS 10.1.0.5 patch, search for RDBMS Server, Release 10.1.0.5. Look for the Description containing something like "10.1.0.5 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER"
    The patch number is different per platform, so I can't tell you the exact #s without more info (OS)

  • Jena Driver Patch for Oracle 11.1.0.6 is missing

    I can no longer find the Jena Driver server-side patch for Oracle 11.1.0.6. I downloaded this a month ago from OTN but the link seems to have been removed. The installation guide is still available on the Jena Adaptor documentation page but I cannot locate the actual patch: jenadrv_patch111rdf.zip. Any idea what's going on?

    We are working on putting Oracle Jena Adaptor software on Metalink. After that, those links will be re-enabled on OTN.

  • Applying interim patches to Oracle 10.2.0.2

    Hi,
    After the CRM upgrade to CRM 2007 on oracle 10.2.0.2 on soalris 10, I need to apply interim patches to oracle 10.2.0.2.
    As I am new to it, please any one send me the step by step procedure to do so. I have already taken a backup.
    Regards
    M Kumar

    Hi,
    You should read the notes, all is explained on them.
    First you MUST download all the patches from SAP note 871096
    Then you also read the note, where is explained how to install the patches:
    Patch installation with OPatch
    To install Oracle patches for Oracle Release 10.2.0.2 or 10.2.0.4, use
    the Opatch version of patch 4898608 only. This is available on SAP
    Service Marketplace.
    The use of the OPatch version of patch 6880880 (particularly in
    connection with MOPatch) is currently not released.
    In this case, see OPatch Note 839182.
    Patch installation with MOPatch
    You must apply a relatively large number of patches for Oracle Release
    10.2.0.2. Information about the patch installation using MOPatch, see
    Note 1027012.
    Of course, this little excerpt of the note point to other notes that you should read to get more details.

    How can apply Oracle BPEL patch to Oracle BPEL Process manager??
    Thanks a lot!!

    don't see any invoke in your client against the intiate operation.. - which creates the correlation
    only 2 of them
    <invoke name="Invoke_1" partnerLink="PartnerLink_1" portType="ns1:CorrelatedBPELProcess" operation="receive1" inputVariable="Invoke_1_receive1_InputVariable"/>
    <invoke name="Invoke_2" partnerLink="PartnerLink_1" portType="ns1:CorrelatedBPELProcess" operation="receive2" inputVariable="Invoke_2_receive2_InputVariable"/>
    compared to this def of the process
    <portType name="CorrelatedBPELProcess">
    <operation name="initiate">
    <input message="client:CorrelatedBPELProcessRequestMessage"/>
    </operation>
    <operation name="receive1">
    <input message="client:CorrelatedBPELProcessRequestMessage"/>
    </operation>
    <operation name="receive2">
    <input message="client:CorrelatedBPELProcessRequestMessage"/>
    </operation>
    </portType>

  • How to get and install 10.2.0.3 patch for Oracle XE (express)

    Total newby here, pardon the stupid question....
    I've installed Oracle XE but I've been told I need the patch that updates the database to 10.2.0.3. I can only find a patch for Vista, I'm on XP. When I go to the metalink(?) page it says I need to have a support ID.
    How do I get a support ID (free) for XE, or is there something I'm missing.
    Thx,
    Mark

    1) Just for sanity, I'm assuming that you posted a Metalink Note ID, not a bug. Metalink Note 334968.1 refers to bug 3807408.
    2) The patches referenced in that bug would appear to relate to the Oracle client. Assuming proper licenses, I would expect that you could patch the Oracle clients accessing the XE database and resolve the issue.
    3) The Metalink note references an alternate workaround of installing Visual Studio in a non-default location that doesn't include parenthesis.

  • Patching on oracle client

    I have a question about oracle patching e.g. 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4
    We do patching of 10.2.0.4 for 10.2.0.1 on oracle server.
    Just wanted to know do we also perform patching on oracle client also?
    If yes then what is the advantage/purpose to do that?
    Thanks,

    Sir, i am confused with both your contradictory answers.... :)
    As per 1 reply we do patching for enhancements but i gues those will be helpful/useful at server side at the database level....
    how it wil useful for client side?This will help in preventing the issues which are result of client-side software code. F. ex. I can recall daylight savings time fix in 9.2.0.x (don't remember the exact patch number now, but I think it was 8) which included patching both client and server software.OP question is on We do patching of 10.2.0.4 for 10.2.0.1 on oracle server
    My answer included an "example". It has nothing to do with the versions that OP has mentioned.

  • Applying security patch to Oracle 10G on Linux

    Hello,
    I'm new to Oracle DBA world, need to apply security patch to Oracle 10G on Linux server, any tips and notes would be appreciated.
    thanks
    Sam

    Manish,
    1. I have to upgrade the database version from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4 on Linux, Is there any proper documentation which will help me out?Please refer to the following document.
    Note: 454750.1 - Oracle Apps Release 12 with Oracle Database 10.2.0 interoperability notes
    https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=454750.1
    2. What are the types of oracle database patches? what is the proper procedure to apply those kind of patches to Oracle 10g on Linux?
    Most of the patches in this upgrade are database patches (which should be applied using opatch). The main upgrade patch (Patch 6810189 - 10.2.0.4 patch set) should be applied using Oracle Universal Installer (runInstaller).
    Always follow the steps in the patch README file before applying any patch.

  • Where can I get the patch for Oracle JMS to work with RDBMS 9.2.0.1

    Hi,
    In the following extract from Oracle documentation the patch is mentioned that needs to be applied.
    "You must apply a server-side patch for Oracle JMS, which ships with Oracle9iAS Release 2 (9.0.3) and the OTN release of OC4J, to work with an RDBMS 9.2.0.1 database. This patch is documented as bug 2513629; see the Metalink Web site or contact Oracle support for more information. However, it is strongly recommended that users move to RDBMS 9.2.0.2 when it is available. Users do not need to apply any server-side database patches when running with RDBMS 9.2.0.2."
    Where I can get this patch?
    Is it RDBMS patch or OC4J patch?
    I don't have access to a Metalink.
    Thanks a lot,
    Andrei

    Check out the configuration on the mapping. There you can create a data file. Do that and fill out the other parameters for the bad and discard file in that node.

    Patch 19030202: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3+ Recommended Patch Collection 2 [RPC2]

    and the new feature on this patch
    -     This patch will resolve the creation of Orphan records in OM Interface table, when a header record is deleted from Corrections screen
