Path to RTE Dumpfile / RTEDumpFileName
Hi,
can I change the path to the RTE DUMP file? Perhaps via the parameter RTEDumpFileName?
Or can I reduce the size or the number of files stored there?
Thanks
Jan
Yes, the by you mentioned parameter should be used in order to change the location. Check [this|http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_8/44/d7cb202e6338d3e10000000a1553f7/content.htm] for a confirmation.
Kind regards,

Bash script to dumpstream many files simultaneously with mplayer
hi guys
i have a problem which i´m sure can be solved with the power of bash scripting
unfortunately i´m no bash scripting guru and all my experiments failed so far
the problem:
i have a file in which are links(streaminglinks)
mplayer offers the funtion to dump such a stream with simply issuing
mplayer -dumpstream mms://path/to/video -dumpfile video1
for example.
now i want mplayer to download this streams specified in the links-file automatically.
basically all it required is a bash script which goes through the link file and generates a command like mplay -dumpstream <link> -dumpfile video<n>
(where n is the nth link) and execute it.maybe there a even simpler solutions
well since i´m not that experienced with bashscripting i can´t solve that problem at my self....
i´m grateful for any helphey guys
thx for the two scripts.
my approach was nearly the same as your´s kraluz with the difference that it doesn´t work
but they both have a little blemish
they download the files sequentially not simultaneously
how could that be realised
thx in advance -
File IO: waiting for changes to be actually made to the filesystem
Hello.
I' ve multiple threads that access concurrently to a file.
The operations are:
-open the file file1
-copy some lines to a new file file2
-delete the old file file1
-rename file2 into file1
the method is synchronized.
The problem is that, even after I close the files and return from the method, changes are not still propagated to file system.
So, if the threads are fast, even if the second thread enter the method after the first has terminated, the old file has not yet been deleted and the second not yet renamed, or anyway "handles" to such files not yet been relased at file system level.
I don't have to guarantee high concurrency..so it would be just good for me to be sure that every thread will wait until all changes are made to the filesystem and all the handles have been released correctly.
How can I do that?
thank you very much.

LabVIEW RTE Search Paths Capitalization [LV/TS]
Not sure if this belongs into LV or Ts so I'm posting on both.
I'm getting the following error when I try to run a sequence in TestStand 4.1 with the LabVIEW 8.5 RTE as my adapter.
Is there a flag in the ini config file that I can set to make my paths not case sensitive???
Thanks,

For me it looks like a TestStand Error - Did you tried what's written : To find all the steps who call "tkwca200 basic setting.vi" and select load dynamically into the TestStand Step option.
Another idea is to have only one step who call this VI and see if it work..and then add another one, and see what happen.
Hope it will help

Jonathan,
We found a workaround moving the folders around and that seems to fix the problem. I talked to a support engineer on the phone yesterday and he confirmed that this was a bug in the TS-LV adapter.
This is the procedure we are following to fix the problem:
Create a new VI in C:\MyProject\Projects\Component\Everything.vi
Add all the VI's within Component as sub-VI's to "Everything.vi"
Close LabVIEW
Move the whole directory of C:\MyProject\Projects\Component to C:\Component
Open Everything.vi. Help find the VI's it is having a hard time finding.
Close LabVIEW
Change C:\Component\Product\Common to C:\Component\Product\xxommon
Open Everything.vi. it should automatically find everything without asking you for help
Close LabVIEW

Open Everything.vi. it should automatically find everything without asking you for help
Close LabVIEW
Move Component back under MyProject directory structure
Open Everything.vi. Help find the VI's it is having a hard time finding.
Close LabVIEW
Cross your fingers and see if it works this time.

3-1674105521 Multiple Paths error while using Bridge Table
https://support.us.oracle.com/oip/faces/secure/srm/srview/SRViewStandalone.jspx?sr=3-1674105521
Customer Smiths Medical International Limited
Description: Multiple Paths error while using Bridge Table
1. I have a urgent customer encounterd a design issue and customer was trying to add 3 logical joins between SDI_GPOUP_MEMBERSHIP and these 3 tables (FACT_HOSPITAL_FINANCE_DTLS, FACT_HOSPITAL_BEDS_UTILZN and FACT_HOSPITAL_ATRIBUTES)
2. They found found out by adding these 3 joins, they ended with circular error.
[nQSError: 15001] Could not load navigation space for subject area GXODS.
[nQSError: 15009] Multiple paths exist to table DIM_SDI_CUSTOMER_DEMOGRAPHICS. Circular logical schemas are not supported.
In response to this circular error, the developer was able to bypass the error using aliases, but this is not desired by client.
3. They want to know how to avoid this error totally without using alias table and suggest a way to resolve the circular join(Multiple Path) error.
Appreciated if someone can give some pointer or suggestion as the customer is in stiff deadline.
Thanks
TeikThe strange thing compared to your output is that I get an error when I have table prefix in the query block:

Message filename and path is too long to be copied-How to fix?
On Windows 7, TB ver 24.6.0, I use a program called SecondCopy to copy my email at shutdown from my C drive on my workstation to our file server.
I get several messages each day like this for the copy to be saved on our network data share:
7/4/2014 9:07:16 PM - Unable to create \\Oz\Data\System\Users\billr\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\5kxps6et.default\ImapMail\imap.googlemail-4.com\INBOX.mozmsgs\urn.correios.msg.201211050157328fade3baa08b405e9a940681276b34d9%401352080653478.rte-svc-onebox-na-1d-i-8da6c8f1.us-east-1.amazon.com.wdseml Cannot create file "". The filename or extension is too long
I've done some abbreviating of folder names, but my names pale in comparison to the LOOOOONG names TB gives them.
How can I fix this?'''''I've done some abbreviating of folder names, but my names pale in comparison to the LOOOOONG names TB gives them.'''''
That is because wdseml files are simply files created to allow windows search to index your mail. I do not allow it and safe quite a lot of totally wasted disk space on a feature I do not use. Thunderbird has a perfectly good search engine. At least as good as windows search.
Your mail is stored in MBOX files higher up in the profile along with a file of the same name with an MSF extension that indexes the folder contents. One file and one index per folder of mail. In the example above, it will be \\Oz\Data\System\Users\billr\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\5kxps6et.default\ImapMail\imap.googlemail-4.com
So I would suggest backing up your profile minus these space takers and seriously consider simply disabling windows search. Tools menu (Alt+T) > options > advanced > General under system integration.
Beyond that we all have to live within the 256 character limitation on path length imposed by windows. -
LV RTE cannot open project files that have .lvlib references in Dependencies
I'm writing a LabVIEW DLL to inspect LabVIEW project files, and I've noticed that if a project has a .lvlib reference in its Dependencies, then the Run-Time Engine contradicts itself about whether or not it can find the project file:
Project.Open returns error 7 (file not found)
Project.GetFileLVVersion is successful
Here are snippets from my G and C code that exercise this behavior:
int openStatus = StatusSuccess;
char* projectVersion = createStringWithLength(VersionStringLength);
printf("Analyzing %s\n", pathString);
OpenProject(pathString, &openStatus, projectVersion, VersionStringLength);
printf(" Project written in LabVIEW %s\n", projectVersion);
if (openStatus == StatusSuccess)
printf(" Opened project file.\n");
else
printf("Error: Could not find project file, or file was not a project file (error code %i).\n", openStatus);
However, when running in the development environment, both methods succeed.
Is this a bug, and if so, is it fixed in LabVIEW 2014?
Here is how you can reproduce it:
Prerequisites:
LabVIEW 2013 SP1 32-bit
ConEmu for a good console -- https://code.google.com/p/conemu-maximus5/wiki/Downloads
minGW for compiling a program to use the LabVIEW DLL -- http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw/files
.lvlib reference in Dependencies breaks Project.Open in LV RTE
Unzip the attachment into a temporary directory (eg c:\xtra\temp)
Open "OpenProject.lvproj" in LabVIEW.
Build "Open Project Library".
Using ConEmu with a bash prompt, navigate to the temporary directory.

Here is another way to trigger this behavior, which also shows that LabVIEW only sometimes tidies the Dependencies item:
Open "OpenProject.lvproj" in LabVIEW.
Add a new VI to the project and place the "Application Directory" file path constant its block diagram.
Select "File » Save All (this Project)" and use the default name for the new VI.
Type OpenProject 'c:\xtra\temp\OpenProject.lvproj'
Notice there is an error again, as is expected.
Remove the "Application Directory" file path constant.
Select "File » Save All (this Project)"
Type OpenProject 'c:\xtra\temp\OpenProject.lvproj'
Notice the problem is gone, as is expected.
Re-add the "Application Directory" file path constant to the block diagram.
Select "File » Save All (this Project)"
Type OpenProject 'c:\xtra\temp\OpenProject.lvproj'
Notice there is no problem, which is surprising as there should be an error since the Dependencies item hasn't been tidied.
Close the new VI and remove it from the project.
Select "File » Save All (this Project)"
Open "OpenProject.lvproj" in a text editor.
Notice the Dependencies item has been tidied.
Re-add the VI back to the project.
Select "File » Save All (this Project)"
Type OpenProject 'c:\xtra\temp\OpenProject.lvproj'
Notice there is an error again, as is expected.

The same behavior occurs in LabVIEW RTE: a new project with an Application Directory constant in a blank vi will return error 7 - file not found, but still return the correct version of LabVIEW in which the project was created.
I've been experimenting with workarounds for this behavior, and I found one.
When I provide the LabVIEW path for libdir in my executable's ini file, the run-time is able to load and inspect the project file.
libdir="C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2013"
While it's expected that a stand-alone executable may be placed on a system that doesn't have the LabVIEW IDE, it's still surprising to me that the Run-Time Engine cannot find LabVIEW's standard library without some explicit guidance. What other considerations contribute to that behavior?

Setting Search Directory with LabVIEW RTE
Hi,
I've LabVIEW 8.0.1 run time engine installed on target computer and would like to run LabVIEW executable on target computer. I also have required low level support VIs for developed VIs.
Question is: how do I set the search directory for low level VIs with LabVIEW run time engine installed on the system.
Suggestions/comments are appreciated. Thank you.If your hierarchy is the same as was in the IDE, then there won't be a need to search for the VIs. If the VIs are not found where they are expected to be, then LV (including the RTE) starts to search for them first in the folder where the VI\application is and then in the folders in its list. To change the list, you need to place the viSearchPath key in your application's INI file. You can copy this key from the labview.ini file and then modify the paths listed in it.

Does Vision82RTE include the LabVIEW 8.20 RTE?
I installed the Vision82RTE.zip from this KB, in order to run a simple LV app with a few vision routines.
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/0468423DEA93D2A786257111005EB9F7
The KB mentions that the Vision RT engine gets installed in :
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Vision\Run-Time Engine
However, I do not see any files in that directory, just NIVisSvr in the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Vision path and the executable says the LV RT engine is not installed. Does the Vision82RTE include the LV RT engine or not? Doe sthe LV RT engine need to be installed separately?Empire--
It is a little unclear what exactly you are trying to do. It
sounds like you are trying to run an application that someone else has
built into an executable. If this is the case, you will need both the
Vision Run-time Engine and the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine. Both of which
can be downloaded from our website (there is a link from www.ni.com for
"Drivers and Updates") LabVIEW Run-Time is a free program that you
will need to install; however, Vision RTE is a free download and
install but you will need to license the product before it will work.
As to whether LV-RTE is installed with your executable is a
question for the person that built the executable in the first place.
Whenever they do this there is an option to make an installer, where
they can select to bundle the RTE with the application.
In this same installer window, for LabVIEW 8.0 and 8.2, Vision
RTE is not an option to include. This is what the KB is saying. If
you want to be able to include the Vision RTE in an installer then you
can run that program. That program is not the actuall RTE, it is only
so that LabVIEW can see the program when making an installer so that
you can include it.
