Hi support,
I have a question regarding my sound card embedded on my notebook Pavilion DV6-2140el.
Could you please give me more details about the technical specifications of the sound card?
I would have also the model of the chipset. I am interested mostly on the output dB power of sound.

Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're looking for some information on components in your notebook. I will try to help you on this.
Most of this information is actually on the computer. You can use the Device Manager to find out a lot on each component. This may help you on how: What if Product Specifications For Your Notebook Are Not Available On The Web? - use the section on "Find specification using Windows Device Manager".
You may also find some information on those in the Maintenance and Service Guide.

Go to the link below.Enter your Product Number as listed on Service Tag attached to bottom of notebook (may be under battery). You can also get the Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key. Pavilion 752n sound card drivers.

I have tried just about ever driver I could find but I can not find a driver for the Soundmax Sound Card that was listed on the machine before I had to replace the hard drive.
Additionally I am unable to load the drivers for the audio controls on the keyboard but that maybe connected to the lack of a sound card.
Help!!!

I went to reatek's website (http://218.210.127.131/downloads/) and downloaded the AC'97. Once I installed the drivers the system crashed but after the crash I went into device manager, found the SoundMAX driver and did a update driver, when I ran the update I allowed it to search the Internet and it found a SoundMAX driver 5.12.1.3620 signed by Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher.
Also you need Microsoft's .NET 2.0 to install the keyboard drivers you mention.

HP Pavilion dv8210us sound card doesn't work.

Computer p/n ET831UA#ABA came with WIN XP Home Edition. Label states designed for Windows XP, Windows Vista Capable. I formatted the harddrive and loaded Windows Vista Business 64 bit. I downloaded and installed all drivers that were recommended by HP but my Sound and Audio doesn't work. Neither does my Mass Storage Controller nor my PCI Modem. All were working with the WIN XP. Need help on how to getting everything working.

when i try to play sound it isnt working my sound is all the way up and I'm getting no sound how do i fix?i also have beats audio if that helps

Please enable Speakers in Playback devices as follows:
1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner)
2. Select Playback devices
3. Right click Speakers
4. Enable it and set as Default
5. Click Apply/Ok

Pavilion dv6 sd card reader not working

I have searched the boards and have not found an answer to my built in SD card reader not working any more. It worked fine until a couple weeks ago. When I go to "my computer", the sd card does not show up as an available drive. I have tried several cards with no luck. The cards work fine when I use a USB card reader, just not the built in one.
I checked the driver in device manager - at least the one I believe is the correct one - Realtec PCIE Card Reader.
Any other ideas? It is a pain having to carry around an extra card reader. Thanks for the help

Prior to the uninstall did the computer make a noise to indicate it recognized the card when you put it in?
You should go ahead and reinstall the specific driver for the card reader just to make sure that doesn't have an effect on the issue. Here is the link for Windows 7 and here is the link for Windows 8.
Another possibility is the the Plug and Play service is deactivated. Try the following to check.
Press the Windows+R keyboard shortcut.
Type "services.msc" into the box and click okay.
Scroll down until you find "Plug and Play" in the list.
Ensure that it is started. If it is not right-click on the service and select Start or Enable.

No sound from built in speakers but headphones ok, pavilion dv6

HI all,
Out of a sudden , after watching a youtube video, my speakers and headphone gave noise when I was RE playing the video that I watched seconds ago.
I restarted my lap, and then didn't hear a sound at all
checked my drivers and updated them
the headphone is working fine. but when I unplug it I hear no sound from my built in speakers. though the drivers are working fine.
took my lap for maintenance to get it cleaned up and checked, they told me the speakers are connected and the wires are all fine! but the problem still exists.
they wanted me to leave it with them to be checked ... but I just didn't trust them since they suggested the sound card is damaged! if it was dagamed I don't think I'll be getting any sounds ! right ?
please, can any one tell me what could be the problem ? and how to solve it ?

You can try installing this IDT High-Definition Audio driver, it is not for your model but it is a Windows 8.1 driver. There are no Windows 8.1 driver for your model. If installing that driver doesn't work then it is a most likely a hardware issue with the speakers and you should have either a local technician take a look at it or send it to HP for repairs. You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or start here if you live outside of North America.

Dedicated Graphic Card Failure (ATI) - HP Pavilion DV6

Hey guys,
I have HP pavilion Dv6 which have AMD Radeon Graphics card(may be 69xx or 74xx radeon series 1Gb ddr3).
Currently i have installed Windows 7 & Ubuntu(Dual boot).
Problem:
I was playing NFS when the system froze,so i turned it off forcefully, after that laptop always get stuck at windows logo.I also tried to switch the (bios)dynamic option(graphic) to fixed,in this option i do get past the logo but i am presented with blank screen ,in short no luck.
However i have managed to get it to work with ubuntu with intel default video card , through advanced recovery option.
What can i do to use some how similar approach for windows 7 i.e disable dedicated video card?
Can Graphics card can be repaired/changed easily?

Have you checked the hard drive using Diagnostics in BIOS? Or F2 immediately after power on? (F2 may not work if you deleted the Diagnostic partition to install Ubuntu)

How do i add a sound card to hp pavilion p2-1106.

The HP web site says:
that on the hp pavilion p2-1106 desk top the on mother board audio will not work if a new souond card is installed.
How do I install a new internal sound card?

Here are the specs for the HP Pavilion p2-1106 Desktop Computer and it's IPXSB-DM (Cork) motherboard. This system has no expansion slots and will not accept any add-in cards. What it currently has is all you get.

HP Pavilion dv2500 no sound card detected after reinstallation

I recently upgraded a friends computer from Windows Vista to, windows 7 Ultimate.
The icon for sound in the task bar ( a speaker) has a red x marked on the speaker.
After trouble shooting using the windows trouble shooter, I got a message "below"
Trouble shooting Has completed
The troubleshooter has made some changes to your system try attempting the task you were trying to do before
       problem found
          Hardware changes might not have been detected                                                   Detected    !
the red x is still there and i still have no sound.
does this mean that I may need a new sound card or can it possibly be that I need to install a driver.
If I need a new sound where can I find this driver. Is it possible to us an external driver Is there such a thing

this looks like a driver issue. can you share the computer product number, it must be on the bottom of notebook. its something like AB123CD#ABA. that will help me share correct driver to you. thanks

Sound Issues HP Pavilion dv6-6158nr Entertainment Notebook PC

Hello,
I have HP Pavilion dv6-6158nr Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS. Recently I noticed issues with how my volume control works. I am not sure if it's an application issue (Firefox 9/10) or audio drivers. While watching playing an audio file or watching video my default playback device is set to speaker, but as soon as I plugin my headphones both headphones and speakers will go to mute. Some times disabling and re-enabling the device will solve this issue, and other than that I also have to restart Firefox to get the sound back.
Tried installing all the available updates form windows, also reinstalled/update the sound drivers as n admin with no possible fix. Also as shown in picture below, when I try to make a Google call using Firefox I use built-in mike an headphones. During that time headphones icon will be appeared in the window shown below listed as communication device and disable both audio in/out.
Let me know if any further information is required.

First uninstall the audio driver:
Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager. >> Audio, video and game controlar >> right click and uninstall all values under it >> restart >> download and install the following drivers:

Sound card issues downgrading Pavilion dm1z to XP x64?

A few months ago, while following the "Unofficial Downgrade to XP" guide, I decided to go with XP 64-bit for my Pavilion dm1z laptop. The thread does indicate that 64-bit XP isn't supported at all for newer HP laptops, but I wanted to still take advantage of the expanded memory availability for my laptop with a 64-bit OS. (Specs are below in my signature.)
I was able to get everything working that I needed -- monitor/display, wireless, wired networking, touchpad, SATA drivers -- everything except the audio driver, which HP no longer provides for 64-bit XP and which I was unable to find elsewhere. Upon repeated installs, I would always get "The upgrade does not apply to your system" or something similar. MS UAA HD Audio had installed properly, but audio always appeared with a yellow exclamation in Device Manager. Sound card is used with IDT audio drivers, and I'm assuming that the driver(s) I tried work only with a 32-bit OS. I ended up reinstalling Windows 7 through a recovery USB I had made prior to my attempted downgrade, but am still not happy with Windows 7, and would rather have XP 64-bit.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of either: 1) a guide on how to upgrade/replace the built-in IDT sound card with another, more widely used brand (like Realtek, Conexant or Creative), or 2) somewhere I can download IDT audio drivers for 64-bit Windows XP?

I receive an error message on HP Pavilion Dv6 when trying to read from an sdhc memory card.

Windows 7 64-bit
When I insert the memory card, I am presented with the scan disk message asking to scan and fix the "<memory card name> (D" If I click on "Scan and Fix", select either one check box or both check boxes (doesn't matter) it will scan the card and close out. When I then try to WRITE a folder to the memory card, doesn't matter which card I try, it sits there for a while thinking and then gives an error:
"File Too Large: The file '<%1 NULL:NameDest>' is too large for the destination file system."
If I try to read a photo from a card put there by my camera I get the message:
You need to format the disk in drive D: before using it.
or
Please insert a disk into SDHC (D.
or
any number of random errors.
I've updated the Intel chipset drivers, right clicked and updated the Realtek Card reader drivers using Windows Update.

Pavilion dv6 - loud beeping sound when starting +sound problem

i just bought an hp pavilion dv6 notebook LR732PA and every time i turn it on there's a loud beeping sound, and i'm not sure if this is normal but it asks me where to boot from (pc hard drive) and which oS (windows 7 64-bit). does anyone know how to stop the beeping?
Also sometimes the sound stops working altogether and an icon appears on the screen with a circle moving around it, and when i try to put the volume up the bar slides back down. it usually can be fixed by closing some programs and processes, it happens sometimes when ive just got 2 programs running and i close one and its ok, or if its not i have to restart. is this something to do with RAM or some kind of sound setting?
