Pavilion p6157c freezes at blue hp screen HELP

My desktop freezes at the blue hp screen on startup, any button I press that is shown on the screen (f10, esc, f9, f11) won't register or do anything. I am running windows 7 and have a pavilion p6157c desktop. This is very important to me and if anyone helps I will be greatful!!

Hello Bruddahshark,
I understand you state your computer will not bypass the blue HP screen, is that correct? I will be happy to help you.
Try turning the computer on and tap the F10 key immediately, and see if you are able to access the setup menu. When doing so the F10 key is sometimes very sensitive so if it fails the first time try it at least 2 more times.
If you are successful, toggle down to one of the drives you see below. One drive will be for your hard drive and the other will be for the DVD drive. Select the drive that does not mention DVD-RW. Once you have selected on the drive, select smart support, and then Smart Shot Test. The Short Test will last about 3-5 minutes, if that test passes then select Smart Extended test, now that test will take some time.
See the screenshot below for an example of what the screen should look like.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.
Thanks

• Freezing on blue boot screen.

My Ibook g4 is freezing on the blue screen right before the login screen. It seems like once and awhile (very rare) it will make it past the login. For example I haven't booted the computer in a few weeks, today it started up just fine and crashed about 2 or 3minutes later. It also sometimes freezes at the grey boot screen with the rotation indicator. I've tried booting in safe and single user mode and still have the same problem. I'm pretty sure I don't have much hard drive space left on the unit. I'm not really sure what the problem could be and im starting to think from reading up on it that its a logic board problem. Any input would be great.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
It does sound like it could be a logic board problem, but if your hard drive is too full, that could be a problem too. Does it work any better when cold and if you squeeze the lower left corner? If so, that could point towards a logic board problem.
Do you have access to another Mac? If so, it might be possible to access your hard drive using Target Disk Mode and rescue your data. You really want to get your data saved before you do much else.
Do you have all the original CD's that came with the computer? Can you boot off of a CD? If so, you could go to Disk Utility on install disc #1 and see if you can verify and repair if necessary both permissions and the disk. You click on the brand name to do this. To check on how full your hard drive is, you can click on MacIntosh HD and see what it says at the bottom.
Once your data is rescued, you could try a clean install of the OS, in case corrupted software is part of the problem.
Good luck!

• Pavilion m9250f freezes with a black screen and no response after sleep

This prob has plaqued the cmptr since it was new, but now it is constantly happening.
When the cmptr is put in sleep, it will not boot up again. The fans work, but the video screen stays black. I have upgraded the video drivers to solve this issue, but it still happens. The MB has been replaced with an OEM board, I tried several video cards, installed all upgrades for the bios and hardware, and I removed the bios battery. The system has been left for hours with no power or battery. Once the system locks up, there appears to be no way to boot it up with the installed video card. Randomly, it will boot up. What triggers it to work is beyond me.
To make the system work, I have to remove the video card and use the onboard VGA video. This has worked for both MB boards. After using the onboard video, the plug in video will only start working when it choses to. As long as I shut it down after using it, it will keep working.

Rest the SMC and PRAM. If that doesn't change anything either contact Apple support via phone or return the system to an Apple store.
SMC:
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM:
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

Use iTunes to do a reset to factory default condition. Always be sure to do your backups before fiddling with your iPad. You might do both the iCloud and the iTunes backup, just to be sure!

For all iPad 2 owners, this is an important solution for you! These problems result from long-term use, continuous upgrades, corrupted files and various glitches that happen over this long term use. You just need to get your iPad 2 back to FACTORY FRESH CONDITION to start out clean!
Here's one person's solution which will help a lot of iPad 2 users!

Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgradein response to pacoKAS
SOLVED: IOS 8 Issues on iPad 2:
I just returned home from a visit to the Genius Bar. Like you and many others, when I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it became practically unusable. It was VERY slow, lagged whenever trying to to do anything. Lots of screen freezes and apps spontaneously crashing. I was convinced that the processor on the iPad 2 just couldn't handle the new IOS and I went in to see about restoring to IOS 7.
Thankfully, I was hooked up with a very sharp guy at the bar. The problem is not with the OS, it is with it being an *upgraded* OS. He used the analogy of when you had an older Windows computer and how over time (and over upgrades), they just tended to get slower and slower because of all of the garbage that was carried forward in the upgrades. At those times (and if you've ever had a Windows computer, you get this), the only thing that would speed it up would be to wipe the machine and do a fresh install of the current OS and then reload your apps, and the viola, everything would be fast again. Well, it turns out that IOS can suffer the same problems.
THE FIX: FIRST, be sure you have a current iCloud backup of your device. Connect your iPad to a computer that has a clean fresh copy of IOS 8 on iTunes (this is best done with a computer other than the one that you sync your device to because you DO NOT want to restore it from a back up just yet). Ideally, if you do this at an Apple store you'll be assured of the right version there and someone to answer any questions you might have along the way. You then hold the power and home button down to hard-reset the device and continue to hold them down until it reboots into recovery mode. You then follow the instructions on the computer to reinstall the OS on the device (which wipes everything from it and then reinstalls a clean copy of it). Once this is done (which only takes about 15 minutes), your device will reboot and ask you to set it up. Answer the questions about language, location, etc. and continue until it asks you to log into your iTunes account. Once you do that, it will ask if you want to either 1) Set it up as a new device, 2) Restore from iCloud, or 3) Restore from iTunes. Choose (2), restore from iCloud. This will ensure that it brings down "clean" copies of all of your apps and preferences rather than the potentially corrupted ones that might reside in your iTunes backup. That's it! It will take a few hours depending on how much data and apps you have, but I am happy to report that my iPad 2 is now running IOS 8 and it's running as fast as it ever did when it was brand new!
To sum it up, this process 1) Wipes your device and the garbage causing your problems, 2) Loads a clean and bug-free version of IOS 8 to your device, and 3) restores your apps and data so that it looks just like it did before the wipe, with the exception that it works now! :-)
Note also that by following this process you don't have to go through the painful and laborious process of reloading all of your apps, data and/or settings. iCloud takes care of all of that for you.

• HELP! CD stuck in drive. Try to restart brings up blue loading screen. Can't get the disc out and we've tried everything!

Imac Intel totally stuck with this CD in the drive,
Seriously. Every forum tells us to restart - but we can't because SOMEHOW this burned music CD (that we've had forever) has caused it to freeze on a never-ending blue loading screen.
Help please. Nothing's working. Only every now and then will the drive make some sounds to eject and then fails.
What has happened??

Greetings Ruth,
It sounds like the disk has become stuck in the drive and when it attempts to eject it becomes stuck on the inside of the drive housing or the optical drive itself has failed in some fashion.
Follow all the steps under "The drive doesn't eject discs or discs eject slowly".
If the steps don't help then follow the last step which is to take the system in for service / evaluation.
Best of luck to you.

• HP Pavilion with Vista keeps Blue Screening

After being racked with blue screens and too much stuff piled on my PC, I did a system recovery and restored everything to factory. However, now, a couple weeks later, I am being bombarded with blue screens.

The computer will glitch out, freeze and sometimes repeat a sound over and over again while showing blue screen and no matter how many times I restart, nothing fixes. Sometimes it wont even load past the blue HP screen or even to the logon window.

Currently, I'm getting the error ***STOP: 0X0000007F (0X0000000000000008, 0X0000000080050031, 0X00000000000006F8, 0XFFFFF800020E8834)

Sounds to me like a bad memory chip. Do you have memtest86 on a bootable CD? I would try to run with just one chip of memory installed at a time and see which one it blue screens on and if it works fine with another. It actually could be bad capacitors on the video card and/or mother board (check for bulging/rounded/leaking). The fan on the video card could be stuck or burnt out. Your hard drive could have a bad sector so download the drive certification test iso image from the hard drive manufacturer and make a bootable CD. That will tell you if the drive is good and can fix bad sectors and some minor problems.

Let the battery fully darain. After charging for an least an hour try a reset and restore. Use Recovery mode if necessary.
If not successful, then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

• Freezing with blue screen & can't boot from single user mode or disk

My keyboard is wired and plugged directly into my Intel iMac running OSX 10.5.8. I do not have the Leopard disks, but I do have the Tiger disks. I was trying to boot in single-user mode so that I could run AppleJack to try to fix another issue I'm having--I get the light blue startup screen flashed at me several times daily for the past week or so. When the blue screen flashes, it totally freezes my computer (obviously) and lasts from 1-10 seconds. I can't find anything that is triggering it. I haven't installed anything new that I'm aware of, and it happens whether the computer has previously been slept or not. I'm also not using an external display / additional monitor.
Also, for anyone who is nice enough to answer, please explain everything--I'm not an expert user.

Well since it is so time consuming and a security risk to turn off FileVault, I was hoping to hear from someone with more experience if this was the solution, or just something to "try"? Are you speaking from experience or just making a suggestion, leroydouglas? Thanks.

• HELP: I sync my iphone ios 4 to another iphone ios5, sync was completed but after a few mins, iphone will auto restart and freezes at the home screen which I can't unlock. I have to hold the "home" "off" button to restart the phone.

Dear all, please hel!!
I sync my iphone ios 4 to another iphone ios5, sync was completed but after a few secs, the iphone with the IOS 5 firmware will auto restart and freezes at the home screen which I can't unlock. It will then freeze for a few secs before repeating the restart phase again and again and again.
To solve this issue, I have to hold the "home" + "off" button to restart the phone. Afterwhich, it will restart the phone. However, although my stuff are still on the phone, all my sms are gone.
Can someone please assist urgently.
My data was transferred from another iphone 3GS which is running an IOS 4.0.1 to another 3GS running ios 5.0.1
Is there a serious compatibility issue with both firmware?
Please help.
Thanks!

Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
Only if you're running Snow Leopard and your employer will allow access (different than iPhone/mobile device access, so most likely not), but not needed - keep reading.
Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
No. It was true, but with the v3.0 software that changed - you can now sync your Exchange contacts and calendar over the air, and your Address Book and iCal via iTunes over the docking cable.
What is the best work around for this?
None needed. When you set up the exchange account, and choose to turn on syncing of contacts and calendars, you will be prompted to remove all other data, or keep it on the iPhone. Choose the keep option. Note that in that case, your personal data will not be uploaded to the Exchange server - the iPhone keeps them separate (although you can choose to view them in a merged fashion).
I have this set up on my phone (Exchange calendar along side personal and other calendars from iCal). Same for contacts. Works great.

• I have a blue hanging screen with restart and I went to trade line stores and they refuse to help me saying that I didn't buy my iPad from trade line store ?

I have a blue hanging screen with restart and I went to trade line stores and they refuse to help me saying that I didn't buy my iPad from trade line store ?

Your problem might be a easy fix.
If the firmware "forgets" what partition it's supposed to boot from, it won't load OS X, so if OS X doesn't load then it can't tell the fans to slow down, the default is "turbo mode".
So all you might have to do is hold the option/alt key down while booting the computer with a charged up battery on power, you will then see a row of icons and you pick OS X to boot from.
Once in you head to System Preferences and set the Startup Disk, that will tell the firmware what to boot from again.
Try it and see if it works.
You can do more if your problem is not fixed.

Yes, if it was purchased new you have a 1 year warranty, despite who you bought it from (unless it's stolen goods)
However you should purchase AppleCare while your in the store for another 2 more years of coverage also a backup drive for TimeMachine to protect your data.

My iPod Touch 4g keeps rebooting. ( sometimes it freezes on the white screen; sometimes on the Apple symbol) What should I do to make it stop? My iPod's warranty has expired. It happens every 10-15 minutes. Help!

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

- Try a reset.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Then connect to your computer and try to restore.
- See if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
- If the logo still show all the time, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try the above again.
