11.1.2.3 maintenance release pre-req step
We are currently running Distributed installation of our production environment on version 11.1.2.1
Plan is to apply maintenance release 11.1.2.3 to existing 11.1.2.1
Going through document: Oracle® Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide Release 11.1.2.3
Page 188
Apply any required PSEs before proceeding with maintenance the installation.
To review the list of defects fixed between earlier releases, use the Defects Fixed Finder. This
tool enables you to identify the products you own and your current implementation release.
With a single click, the tool quickly produces a customized report of fixed-defect descriptions
with their associated platforms and patch numbers. This tool is available here:
https://support.oracle.com/oip/faces/secure/km/DocumentDisplay.jspx?id=1292603.1
QUESTION:
=======
Ran the defect fixed finder tool as suggested above and it came up with list of defects fixed AFTER my current release 11.1.2.1
1) Since we are applying maintenance patch release 11.1.2.3 on top of 11.1.2.1 would it just suffice if we apply patches to address defects on top of 11.1.2.3 ALONE as a post maintenance patch step?
2) Since the instruction mentions "any required PSU's" -- is it ok we skip the PSU's for version 11.1.2.1 and proceed with maintenance upgrade -- will there be any problem with this approach. Please suggest.I would question the requirement to install PSEs because in theory the maintenance release should be deploying the latest set of files/fixes and I would think it only relates to patches for the release you are currently running, this requirement was not in previous maintenance releases and with the software being released only a week ago it is difficult to give a definitive answer, maybe one to ask Oracle.
Cheers

11i Upgrade - Projects Pre-Upgrade steps
We are upgrading from 10.7SC to 11i (11.5.2) and in running several of the Category 2 pre-upgrade steps, we have found that only really old projects show up as exceptions that should be "fixed" prior to the upgrade.
These projects are now closed and the revenue/invoices etc. are for prior fiscal years. We will probably get accounting errors (from flexfield/acct combinations that have been disabled) if we try to process the old transactions. We are also not sure that we want to write revenue events or create changes for fiscal years already closed.
Has anyone else seen this? How did you handle it -- did you reopen projects, re-enable accounts and process the exceptions noted by the scripts? Will upgrade FAIL because of the presence of these exceptions?
Any input you can provide would be helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Maria

What are the pre reqs to learn XI
Hi..
Can any one suggest me what all the pre req's that i need to learn so that i can learn XI. I am new to this field, so can any one suggest me how to start?
thank you.
kishore karnatiKishore
If you know basic concepts of Java, ABAP and XML it would be a added advantage to learn and understand XI very quickly.
As you may XI is SAP's middleware solution, providing integration capabilities for SAP and non-SAP solutions alike. It is becoming increasingly important in any SAP implementation, mostly because it makes integration to SAP systems easy to implement. Also, SAP's newer solutions like SRM and MDM use XI's capabilities natively.
SO if you are interested in working with XI, that is agood thing. It is quite different from EP though, because EP is very user and front-end oriented, whereas a good XI implementation is invisible to the end-users.
An certification is a good thing to have, and XI is no different. But as in any other SAP solution, the certification is no substitute for hands-on experience on XI... which is what you must get as soon as you can.

Problems installing AIA 2.5 Foundation Pack pre-reqs on SOA 10g
I am involved in a very large AIA project. I am creating my own environment prior to go to the customer and I have found some issues while installing the pre-reqs for the Foundation Pack on top of Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3.4 (MLR #8) using OC4J.
I am following the attached doc, in specific these lines:
Oracle SOA Suite 10 g Release 3 (10.1.3.4 + MLR#8 or later). Use Advanced Installation option and select J2EE, the web server, and Oracle SOA Suite.
This version of AIA is tested and certified on 10.1.3.4 MLR#8 (Patch 8372150). You need to apply these additional patches over MLR#8:
* 5507491
* 7692665
* 8533397
Note: Before you apply patch 8533397, perfrom the following tasks.
1. Download OUI 10.1.0.6.0 (patch 6640838) and install it on the Oracle home with all components listed on screen.
2. Download latest 10.1 Opatch (Patch 6880880) and install it on the Oracle home.
* 8644645
I was able to install MLR#8, and then 5507491,7692665. I also did the pre-reqs for 8533397. But when trying to install 8533397, I got the following:

=====================
I've been trying to install the patch, but it seems OPatch is having some issues with the overlay patches and that is why is throwing that error. I also tried to do it with previous Opatch releases (52 and 62), but I got similar errors.
Do u have any suggestions?? Is there anything I can do to install those two patches (8533397 & 8644645).
In my research I noticed that the OPatch is either not being updated correctly, or simply not able to use the overlay patches, and that is why is saying that I need a most updated one. But for an Oracle DB 10.1 system, the latest OPatch version I found was 1.0.0.0.63.
Any suggestions are welcomed,
thx again

*..::WaLeX::..*Hi Walter:
how r u?
Basically the issue is related when u apply patch 6640838 to upgrade OUI. If u don't do the following, u get into the error u described in ur post:
1. Before u install patch #6640838 , u need to be sure to rename the OPatch directory under $ORACLE_HOME. Once u do that, u can proceed with the application of patch 6640838.
2. Then after applying it u can download patch 6880880, in order to have the latest OPatch version (1.0.0.0.63). In this step, u just need to unzip it, and u will have a new OPatch directory under $ORACLE_HOME
3. After that, u can go and do an "opatch apply" for patches 8533397 and 8644645.
And that's it, u will get rid of that messy problem.
I ran into the same issue, but just realized the step that was causing all the problem.
Hope this helps.

Warning while running pre-req checks for installing 11g binaries
I am trying to install 11g binaries on my box for upgrading my production db from 10.2.0.4 to 11.1.0.7. I have dev and Prod running from the same box. I already upgraded my dev instance to 11g and its home is /opt/oracle/product/11.10/dev.
I created another path for production as /opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/prod so that I can install the 11g binaries for production in there. When I run the installer, the pre-req checks gives me two warnings -
Checking PATH environment variable...
Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
Problem: The installer has detected that the PATH environment variable includes other ORACLE_HOME locations in it.
Recommendation: Restart the installer after removing other ORACLE_HOME locations from PATH environment variable.

Problem: The installer has detected that environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH includes other ORACLE_HOME locations in it.
Recommendation: Restart the installer after removing other ORACLE_HOME locations from LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable.
I ran ther pre-req again after unsetting the PATH and HOME variable. But it still gives me a warning on the PATH variable. What should I do to avoid this warning?If I were you, I would have defined the HOMEs as "/opt/oracle/product/dev/11.1.0" and "/opt/oracle/product/prod/11.1.0" - that would eliminate the errors you are facing. It is still not too late - you can install the prod binaries as "/opt/oracle/product/prod/11.1.0", then later on "clone" the OH from "/opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev" to "/opt/oracle/product/dev/11.1.0" and delete the former.
You could also simply clone "/opt/oracle/product/prod/11.1.0" from "/opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev" rather than running the the install/patching process all over again.

MASTER LEGISLATIVE HRGLOBAL PRE-REQ LIST doesn't have R12.HR_PF.B.1
Hi Friends,
I am using R12.1.1 with HRMS Patch level : R12.HR_PF.B.1 (which is R12.HR_PF.B.delta1 i believe)
I would like to apply Singapore Legislation so when i look at the MASTER LEGISLATIVE HRGLOBAL PRE-REQ LIST (Latest Oracle HRMS Legislative Data Patch Available (HR Global / hrglobal) [ID 145837.1])
I couldn't see either R12.1.1 (or) R12.HR_PF.B.1 and i could see only the later versions (R12.1.2,R12.1.3,R12.HR_PF.B.delta2,R12.HR_PF.B.delta3,R12.HR_PF.B.delta4,R12.HR_PF.B.delta5)
so do this mean i don't need to apply any Pre-Req patches for my current release/HRMS level and I can proceed with Data Install and apply hrgobal.drv?
Please confirm.

DBHi,
yes, you are right. this is because R12.1.1 comes with the installation. And you can not apply any pre-req before installing R12.1.1
All the patches listed in the table for pre-req are for the RUP patches which you will apply later. For example before applying RUP3 for HR you will apply 12757980 as a pre-req for Singapore.

and try again.
Cannot check bug/file conflict and component prerequisite checks.
ERROR: OPatch failed during prerequisite check.
OPatch returns with error code = 150
+=====================+
Any suggestions are welcomed,
thx again

Pre-personalization step on JCOP cards
Hi guys!
I have problem with pre-personalization step on JCOP cards. Using JCOP documentation I set global pin, 3 DES keys and keyset, card-state as OP_READY. Card not in fuse state and not protected, all needed info I write to card using /send WRITE comand from JCOP Shell in root applet. But when I /send PROTECT card not responce, I wait about 2 hours, but nothing happend. Can anybody face with with this problem and can help me?Hi,
I write script for JCOP shell, and use it for prepersonalization step, you need to change all addresses, because they are incorrect:
#----Pre-personalization script----
#Script folder can be set using /set-var shell command (e.g. /set-var path c:/JCShellScripts).
#The JCShell always searches the current directory for script files.
#To execute a script, just type the name of the file (without extension) in the JCShell command line.

I am attempting to deploy IE10 and its pre-reqs but don't appear to be able to get the client to evaluate that it needs it. On the client in the UpdatesDeployment.log I can see that the update is processed, but doesn't do anything else.

Also in the WindowsUpdate.log I can see that the client is checking the correct site. I am also deploying KBs 2729094, 2670838, 2786081 and 2758857 as pre-reqs, but I cannot get SCCM to recognize 2670838 in the catalog even though it is in the WSUS catalog.

i am going for OCA 10g but by mistake i have downloaded 11g .
can i go ahead with 11g and do all the practice over 11g or should i download 10g instead ???
thanx in advance
REGARDS !All 10g OCA practice can be performed in 11g. If you are following a book, you may see different screen results, especially with OEM. All SQL, backup, recovery, etc with 11g is an enhanced 10g,

Physical movement of SAP Servers ( Procedure,Odds n Cons, Pre/Post Steps )
Physical movement of SAP Server and Pre,Post steps ?
Hello Experts,
Need your help here.. Our Data Center is moving to Different Place , hence IM team proposed Physical movement of SAP Server to New Location.
In our Landscape we have SRM 4.0, XI 3.0 & BW 3.5 , ITS 620 and Requisites Servers available . As these are out of SAP support we don't have expert for ITS and Requisite Server installation and configutaiton.
Please please tell me Will this process work ? if yes then what are odds n cons in this procedure , Pre and Post Steps need to perform.
Please help me as early as possible as we need to take decision ASAP.
Thanks and Regards,
Raja.
Net-weaver Consultant.Hi Raja,
You need to take care of following
1) Ensure that IP address and hostname are retained in the new DC. If IP is changing you need to take a note of all the RFC and JCO connections where IP is used and replace them with hostname.
2) For ITS you can re-install and re-configure. It is not a big task.
Make a note which all places ITS is configured.
3) You need to have full offline backup of the system before movement.
4) You need to plan for some System integration testing post movement to ensure things are working post DC migration.
Some useful information can also be found in http://christian.bergeron.voila.net/DC_Guide/Data_Migration_Methodology_for_SAP_V01a.doc
Hope this helps.

Deepak Kori
