PCI Serial Port error

the computer says it is disabled, and when i try to reinstall or fix the problem through the options, nothing works.  what do i do?

Is this WIndows 7?  There is something about the Intel security drivers and WIndows 7 that crates problem virtual serial ports. I just remember seeing something about it.

    Hi,
I just installed the motherboard and did a fresh install of win2k sp3. I've installed the latest BIOS, Intel inf and everything from the windows update service but it's still not able to install the PCI serial port. Can anyone clue me into what I need to do?
    Thanks,

    Dear Subhash,
If your Ci is running then http://hostname:port should give you a start page, but if you login to perticular new instane with http://new host:new port and if this is returning some error then we can categorize as we have problem in new instance.
Can you please paste .out logs from your work dir for new instance.
and chek the memory settings according to following notes:

  • Missing PCI serial port driver on elitebook 2560p after faulty motherboard replacement

    Hi,
I have the following issue, after a faulty motherboard replacement on my elitebook 2560p with Win XP, I find a question mark in the device manager list reporting that a PCI serial port driver is missing.
Browsing device properties I can read:
PCI serial port - PCI bus 0, device 22, function 3
    and
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C3D&SUBSYS_162B103C&REV_04\3&B1BFB68&0&B3
I've already tried locating driver without success in SP38312, SP45131, SP53918, unzipping the files and trying to locate manually the driver inside the folders with the windows driver update function.
can you help locating the correct driver?
    thanks a lot in advance

  • Videoconference serial port error

Hello, I'm a spanish student and I'm doing a project with labview. This project is about video coding for low bit rate (H.263). Sometimes I have a problem reading from serial port. My program is composed for one sequence with three frames. In the first frame i read from serial port, in the second frame i decode one picture with a dll and in the last frame i show one picture. this frames are runnig constinuosly. I inicialize serial port with a buffer 65535 bytes and no flow control. I'm using only the line RxD. The problem is that appears "Error 16386 ocurred at bytes at port" hex code x4002. I don't understand why it happen if I have 65535 bytes of buffer and I receive data to 115200bps. I suppose that the buffer is full every 4'5 sec
onds and I don't understand why character is lost by overwrite. What can I do? I'm lost and I'm grateful for your help. I'm sorry for my English because it isn't very good. Thank You.
    Jose Luis

If serial port data is being overwritten this may be due to data being continously written. Try flushing the buffer after you do the initialize. For VISA, the function is VISA Flush I/O Buffer. If you're using the traditional Serial VIs, after the initialize, do a Bytes at Serial Port and then do a read of that number of bytes.
By the way, don't worry about your English. I think it's great.

  • Can't find a PCI-serial port

    Hello:
I am using a PCI-Serial card to control a serial-port stage, I can not find the serial port with Labview8.0. Windows can find this serial port. When I use the same Labview program in my old computer which has a serial port on board, it can be recognized. Shall I change something of the 'Visa serial' communication module?
The attached file is a Labview programmed driver for a motor-stage.
    Thanks,

If Windows can't find the serial port, then LabVIEW isn't going to find it, and it's irrelevant what you've coded. You should go into the Windows Device Manager to see what it tells you about the device. Does it even show up in the list of devices? Does it have a driver loaded? If it doesn't show up in Device Manager, try plugging the card into another PCI slot. Does the card show up if you plug it into another computer? Perhaps the card is bad.

  • GPIB and serial port communication errors via an executalbe file.

I have a data acquisition program that communicates with instruments via the serial port and GPIB bus. When I create an executable file and run it on another PC I get GPIB and serial port errors when the program tries to initialize these ports. Are there additional vi's I need to include when I build the executable?

When you installed the GPIB board on the other pc, did you install just NI-GPIB? Did you configure the GPIB board? You also need NI-VISA if your're using VISA calls in your program. You can either install the full NI-VISA or just the run-time version.

  • Serial Port Overrun

    Hello All,
I am developing Teststand sequences which run Labview code. I use 1 labview vi to configure and drive the serial port, the first call configures the serial port. The second call writes a message and reads the response, the last call releases the resource. When running the call write&read I intermittently receive the error shown in the attached jpg, this causes my whole sequence to lockup till I return to restart the test. I need to run this repeatedly overnight so its a problem. I have a feeling this isnt so much a serial port overrun problem as a hardware clash ( i also configure and run a camera ).
I have spotted a number of posts a on this same topic but I havent yet found a soultion only advice, which I have already tried.
    Help greatly appreciated
    Regards Chris

Are you familiar with handshaking?  There were several posts on this subject recently.  The end device is sending data faster than your computer and Labview program can handle.  You need to implement handshaking.  There are two types of handshaking, software and hardware:
Software, also called XON/XOFF.  With this setup, when the computer serial port incoming buffer gets nearly full, it automatically sends an XOFF command (don't worry about what it is since it is automatic).  The XOFF command tells the endpoint device to stop sending data.  When the buffer gets near empty, the computer sends an XON command.  The endpoint device then starts sending data again.  For this protocol, the endpoint device must be able to support this, and must be configured to use this type of handshaking.  You would have to read the manual to find out how to set it up.  For the computer end, you can set it up with an option for the configure serial port function on the input labeled "Flow Control".  Right click on this terminal and select Create - Constant.  A text ring will be created.  Select XON/XOFF in the text ring.
Hardware, also called RTS/CTS.  Same principle in that the computer signals the endpoint when to stop sending data and when to start again.  However, instead of sending a command, the computer drops the CTS line (Clear To Send).  Actually, the endpoint device raises the RTS (Request To Send) when it wants to send data, and the computer responds with raising CTS if it is ready to receive data.  When the buffers get full, the computer drops CTS which tells the endpoint to stop sending data.  When the computer is ready to start receiving again, it raises CTS.  Again, both sides must be configured for this.  The text ring has an RTS/CTS selection.
You will have to read the manual on your endpoint device to see what it supports and how to configure it.  Warning:  If sending binary data, DO NOT use XON/XOFF.  The binary data may just happen to form a pattern that looks like XOFF, and everything will lock up because XON will never be sent.  So if binary data is being transferred, use RTS/CTS.  If normal ASCII characters are being sent, you can use either protocol.

  • 64-bit Vista Drivers for PCI Serial device

I've just got an T500 and put Vista 64-bit on it.  I've found (I think) all the drivers for it that it needs, except that there are 2 drivers in the Device Manager that show as not installed/needing update they are:
    Under Other Devices
     - PCI Serial Port
     - PCI Simple Communications Controller
Anyone know what divers I should get to get these loaded properly or what devices/capabilities I am loosing because there are no drivers?
    Thanks,
    George

    George, welcome to the forum,
have you tried using ThinkVantage System Update to see if it can automatically find the drivers for you?
    Hope this helps

  • Connection to serial port via USB adapter- error -2147221503

I am trying to drive a stepper motor provided with possible Labview or VB programs. This motor is supposed to be connected via serial port, but the computer has not some, so I bought an USB adpater to connect my motor via USB. I am using the labview programs provided (Labview 8.0). The program cannot connect to the port and returns error -2147221503. Where may I find some help with that ?

I see references to 'Luminos'. Is this the provider of the stepper motor and LabVIEW code? If so, your first step should be to contact them. The whole VI is nothing but ActiveX properties and methods and the vendor would be the only one who knows what is going on.

  • Getting error in call library node when establishing communication with MAX1452 on serial port using dll

I want to communicate with MAX1452 in labview on PC serial port. Maxim provides dll file which has functions to communicate with device. It says first two functions should be findcom port and initialization sequence where findcom port returns PC's serial port address while initialization sequence helps device to learn baud rate.Iam not getting exception error in call library node.i have kept dll file in the same location as VI.

Labview verison is 7.1 and os is win xp.
The data types are according to the dll functions defined in functions definitions( attached previously).
I'd put dll in the same directory where the code resides.

  • Error 37 with serial port / no with hyperterminal

I have added to my Pc a card with two serial port, I can access to them by hyperteminal or by labview but only at port 0 and 1 at the same time or 2 and 3, if not I have an error 37. What can I do?

Error 37 means that LabVIEW cannot find the appropriate serial device. This indicates that one of the following conditions exists:
    LabVIEW cannot open the specified serial port;
LabVIEW cannot find the file serpdrv.
Make sure that the serial driver was installed before the board, and that the com ports appear normally in the control panel. If you cannot get it working, contact NI through either phone or email support. Since there are several potential causes, this is difficult to diagnose without more information. You can contact NI using the following webpage.
