PDF attachments on emails

Newbie here - looking for an answer: I receive an email on my phone (8530Curve) and I can see there is an attachment but when I go to the same email on my PB, no attachment shows - there's nothing there. Back to my phone or pc and it's there - I even forwarded it to my gmail account from my pb and went to gmail on line on my PB and there it was! what gives? I work with a lot of PDFs and I'm concerned that I can't rely on my pb if I can't even see an attachment exists. Thoughts - feedback help would be appreciated. Thanks.

OK - here's the IT guys response:
Please note that BES and BIS are BlackBerry abbreviations and I can not say that our email server is BES or BIS. We are using Exim email server to handle our email service. It should be accessible from every device with Internet and availability for email services.
I have searched for your problem on Internet and found the following articles which may be helpful to you:

When you are having no troubles with your BlackBerry phone I'm assuming that there is a problem with your PlayBook configuration.

This is making me loco. I am not on a Blackberry Enterprise Server, so I didn't find any of the above helpful, although you might as you are far more familiar with the lingo and apps.  Again, I appreciate your time and help in resolving this. - Best!

I have no problem opening PDF attachments that arrive in my Outlook 2003 Inbox; they open fine with Adobe Reader 9. It may be an issue with your email client.
But if you think that Adobe Reader 8 will fix it, you can download it from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/8.x/8.1.3/enu/AdbeRdr813_en_US.exe - make sure that you uninstall Reader 9 first (and Acrobat.com & Adobe AIR).

Have you tried to open a very old iPhoto library from iPhoto 6 or earlier and downloaded
iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.0.?  Then it does not suffice to install the upgrader, you need to run it and to upgrade the library.
Or do you get this error message for your current iPhoto library?

You can't. If you could it would be a HUGE security bug, and would be quickly fixed.

  • PDF attachments in Email lost ability to "open with"

Just in the last few weeks, suddenly ios email is treating PDF attachments as a picture only offering me the option to Save Image or Copy when I press and hold the preview image in email.
I need to be able to Open With my apps like GoodReader,
I have already tried a reset and that did nothing

I guess you mean that after ******* around deleting this and that, and getting it to work once or twice, the problem resurfaced ?
This is a bug pure and simple.  The same problem is in evidence when using a link to a pdf in Safari.  The only thing you get is the qick-view output (1.st. page) and no opportunity to open it with, or save it to iBooks.
You would think that Apple would want to solve this problem, wouldn't you?

  • What is the fix to get pdf attachments in emails to open without having to save first?

I received a new machine and now when I get an email with a pdf attachment I have to save it first before I can open it.  How can I fix that?  Thanks

The fix will be to your email setup, or browser, or something like that. Can't always be fixed.
So, how do you read your email?
    What app do you use?
If it's a browser, who provides your email?
What happens when you try to open the PDF attached to emails?

  • CRM 7.0 Unable to open/view PDF Attachments in Email (Intermittent issue)

    Hi,
Unable to open an attachment (PDF format) sent from exchange server(Lotus) to SAP CRM,Actually its an intermittent issue When i try to open email in UI ,getting an error message "File is damaged and couldnot be repaired".
I understand that PDF attachment wasn't delivered(Synchronization issue between Lotus and CRM) to SAP CRM system properly by the exchange server ( Lotus ).Hence the particular attachments are not able to view/open in SAP CRM system.
Is there anyway to trace and find out root cause of the issue?
    Regards,

  • I'm running Windows 8.1 and find I can't open pdf attachments to emails? Any help appreciated

Each time I try to open a pdf email attachement I'm told the file is corrupted but I am able to open from an old Apple computer.
I am running an HP Desktop with Windows 8.1.
This has only started happening in the last few days since I uploaded updates to Adobe Acrobat.

    Hi Anand
It’s happening with all pdf email attachments.
    I am using Outlook.
I have Norton Antivirus – I don’t know how to turn it off – I don’t really want to delete it because it came with the Windows system
I don’t know what version I was previously using, but the version on my system is Adobe Reader X1.

  • IOS 8.0.2 iPhone 6 can not open photo or pdf attachments in email

After the photo (jpg) downloads, all I get is a grey screen with the photo name.  Same as when I tried to open a PDF attachment.
Is there a security setting or something I missed on the phone?
The files are fine, opened everything on my iMac and MBP.  Just can not open on the phone. Attachments are being sent through email.

    Hey Mrstudio,
Thanks for the question. Are you experiencing this issue with an Exchange account on your device? If so, the attachment may now be downloading fully. Check out the following resource:

  • How can I open pdf attachments in email? Adobe reader used to do this, and does not.

About 3 weeks ago, I suddenly could not open pdf attahments while reading my email. I now must down load them and save, in order to open them. Can someone help me to fix this? They open on my desk top, but not in Internet explorer. I would like to see them before down loading. What can I do to fix this problem?

Enable the Adobe Reader plugin in browser : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

  • Why do .pdf attachments in email show up differently

I  am using Adobe Reader 10.0.3 on an iMac running on 10.5.8. Sometimes the .pdf attachment shows up in emails  I am sending as the full text and othertimes as just the icon. It doesn't affect the receiving by others. They can open either one. Why does this happen and how can I make them consistently showing just the  icon?
    [email address removed by host]

This is probably being done on the email server which you are using. The links are probably being modified based on security settings.

  • I can't see pdf attachments in emails once downloaded but I can see it in iBooks

    Hey All,
Need help. It's for my co-workers iphone 5. He gets sent emails and when I try to open the attachment - pdf - It doesn't show it. However if I select to Open in iBooks it is visble. Other twist to the story is that I tried to forward it to me and when I open it on my iPhone 5 it works perfectly fine in the emails, I dont have to waste time viewing it in iBooks. Any suggestions? Could it be his mail settings? Or the iPhone playing up? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Usually when you open an email with an attachment above the email itself it says view images. If you see this you click allow and then there is another box that says always allow select that and it should be good
    Hope this helped,
    Jeremy Eramian

  • PDF Attachments in Exchange emails opened in iPad

Would like to know how to consistently make a PDF attachement in an Exchange email shown as an icon; not embedded text in the message body.  We use iPad to open PDF attachments in emails sent from multiple employees.  These attachments are all originally made in Word (Office 2010) on desktops, saved and sent in PDF, and opened in iPad Exchange email accounts.  Some attachments are shown as text embedded in the message body but some others are in an icon at the bottom of the message body.  We would like it to show as an icon and open it with other PDF readers on ipad.  How can we make them to show all in that way?
    Thanks

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.
