PDF Conversion of Word document file too large

I am going crazy trying to figure out why PDF document files I make on my Mac are so much larger (file size) than the same document converted on my Windows machine using Adobe Acrobat. I also tested the file size by having a friend use her CutePDF document converter to convert it for me and my PDF document with a file size of 2.18 Mb came back from her at 78.5 Kb. However, when I try to view the document it has a message where the images are that "QuickTime and a decompressor are needed to see this picture". But she could see everything fine.
I always loved my Adobe Acrobat software when I was a Windows user. With the exception of using Quicken on my MacBook using VMWare Fusion for running Windows, I don't want to use Windows anymore so I don't want to have Acrobat sitting on that partition. I know my Mac can convert to PDF but is there a way I can get the file sizes smaller? Or am I going to have to get a PDF writer program specifically for converting and compressing file sizes where other users, whether be Mac or Windows can see them.
HELP please. I'm about ready to purchase the Adobe Acrobat X Professional for Mac OS X. I only need the Standard package but it appears they don't have a Mac version for anything less than the Professional package. I'm also wondering if CutePDF would work for me. Hmmm. I truly need the knowledge of you seasoned users.
Thanks a bunch!!!

Problems converting PDF to MS Word document.  I successfully converted 4 files and now subsequent files generate a "conversion failure" error when attempting to convert the file.  I have a large manuscript and I separated each chapter to assist with the conversion; like I said, first 4 parts no problem, then conversion failure.  I attempted to convert the entire document and same result.  I specifically purchased the export to Word feature.  Please assist.  I initially had to export the Word Perfect document into PDF and attempting to go from PDF to MS Word.

    Hi sdr2014,
I'm sorry to hear your conversion process has stalled. It sounds as though the problem isn't specific to one file, as you've been unable to convert anything since the first four chapters converted successfully.
    So, let's try this:
If you're converting via the ExportPDF website, please log out, clear the browser cache, and then log back in. If you're using Reader, please choose Help > Check for Updates to make sure that you have the most current version installed.
Please let us know how it goes.

  • How to open and read pdf and micrsoft word (.doc) files or documents

My problem is how to use my BB 9800 software version 6.0.0.546 to read/view pdf files and microsoft office documents. I have also bought documents to go from online and have installed it on my phone, but whenever i try to open it I receive a message that it is incompactible. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, Sammy.
Why not install a 3rd party PDF reader and Word Doc reader to help open and read pdf and micrsoft word (.doc) files or documents? You can google it and select one whose way of processing is simple and fast to help you with the related converting work.  It will be better if it is totally manual and can be customized by users according to our own favors. Remember to check its free trial package first if possible. I hope you success. Good luck.

  • Max Character File Size Limit exceeded. The document is too large to process

    Hi
I have  made set on section on products in report.
the Reports contains around 50 products when im opening the report
in draft mode the following error is displayed
"Max Character File Size Limit exceeded. The document is too large to be proceesed by the server .Contact your business Objects Administrator."
can some body help me out how to increase my report character file size

    Hi,
If you are using Business Objects XIR2, there is a performance parameter in the Web_Intelligence Report Server where you can increase the size of that file. The parameter is Maximun Character File Size. Go to the CMC>Server>server.Web_IntelligenceReportServer in the Properties tab you will see it.

  • Create PDF from a Word document within Acrobat

    Hi!
I am having trouble to create a PDF from a Word document within Acrobat itself, and not by using PDF Maker in Word. When I try to create a PDF using Acrobat, it gives me the choice to choose any Office format file, but Word format doesn't appear. I can convert from an Excel document or a PowerPoint document, but not from a Word document, even if Word 2010 is installed and works perferctly. Why?
I know I can make a PDF in Word itself by printing to the Adobe PDF printer or by using PDF Maker, but I want to resolve the issue in Acrobat that prevents me to select a Word document in the Create PDF dialog window. You can see the dialog box in the screenshot attached.
    Any help would be appreciated.
I am using Acrobat X version 10.1.8 on Windows 7 Home Premium and I have Office 2010 installed (with Word 2010).

Thanks for your reply. PDF Maker works in all of my Office applications. However, in Acrobat, the file formats available for me to create PDF from figure all the Office file formats except the one for Word. This is not normal. At my school, Acrobat X and Office 2007 are installed, and I can use there both PDF Maker in Word and creating PDF from Word document within Acrobat.
So I think maybe there's a key in my Windows registry that is not set correctly? or something like that. I repaired the installation of Office 2010, and I did so for Acrobat X too, but it doesn't help. Any idea of how I can resolve that?

  • Scanning - files too large!

I have an HP OfficeJet J6480 All In One - when I scan a text document to PDF, the file size is enormous - one page is at least 600Kb at 150 dpi - this makes for files too large to email if scanning 10 plus pages. Is there a setting to change to reduce file size while leaving the scan easily readable? Thanks
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

there are 2 PDF file type options you can scan to using our software, (normal) PDF and PDF Searchable. you are scanning it as PDF Searchable, correct? have you tried scanning it to a normal PDF and had the same results also?
EDIT: i saw ur post in the 2nd thread you posted where you have tried scanning to PDF without searchable text. so no need to reply to this, and ill see what i can do.

How to export a PDF to a word document? at the moment it came up with "The encoding (CMap) specified by a font is missing ????? what can I do?  thanks

    Hi frenchiem,
This is due to the PDF file cannot display the original fonts. To fix it, creator should create the PDF file with the embed font option enabled. Thus, user can open the file on any platform with the same layout. Or the Acrobat product can display them after you install the appropriate font support package on the client side.

  • How do I change a PDF to a word document?

How do i change aa PDF to a word document?

In Mac preferred method (because it uses Adobe's PDF engine):
Save file as word Document (for Backup)
    Go to Print Menu
Click and hold on PDF button until context menu appears
    Choose Adobe PDF
Wait for menu to change - choose quality (this eqivelent to job options in Distiller) and turn off open with Reader (or Acrobat)
Then click okay to go to nex window item
Either use Title assigned or change (I usually remove references to Microsoft Word-, and .docx so it just shows as for example Joes.pdf),
Browse (pick out) to desired save Location.
    Click Save.
Go to location saved and open.
Notes: Expect to multiple PDF if the Word document page have switches in Page orientations.
URL links won't cme over with this method.
To have Urls to be active (except those created with the Format menu > URL)
    Do the following:
    Locate the Word Document
Locate the acrobat Icon on the Dock (similar to Start up menu on PC)
Drag the word document to the icon of Acrobat on Dock and Drop
Wait ........... You might have enough time to boil you a pot of coffee
When PDF pops up on screen save at once!
You will now have a document that will have live MailTo's and URL's except for those created with the URL wizard ( select desired word> go to Formtat menu > URL >when opens type desired URL or Mailto)
This is a 15 year old bug Adobe refuses to fix. Don't bleive the blather the put out bout the proper hook in Mac Version That's been proven as false years ago.

Acrobat 9 Pro (not Standard) can export ("convert") PDF to Word, RTF, or other text formats.
    Click-path:  File - Export
    Take your pick.
With install of Acrobat 9 the Help PDF is installed also.
From the this PDF's Bookmarks expand Chapter 5's bookmark and select "Convert PDFs to Word".
    Be well...

    Hi debrat84859140,
To save that converted file to your computer, you just need to download it from your Acrobat.com account:
Log in to your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com/files.
Select the file that you want to download.
Click the Download link at the top of the file list. Your file will be downloaded to the Downloads folder on your computer.

I am having to spend time editing and finding all the mistake, deleted the purpose of converting if I have to retype everything.
