PDF files would just opened and disappeared
Our internet provider is Bell and their security system is now with McAfee. This morning I got a message from McAfee that a new Adobe Reader update should be installed. I did but now I could not read any PDF file. The PDF files would just opened and disappeared. I tried different configuration but still could not open PDF files. Please help.
Hi Pat,
Thank you very much for responding to my problem.
Our operating system is Windows 7 (64). Adobe Reader was working fine until we got a suggestion from McAfee to upgrade it to version XI. After the upgrade, whenever we open our PDF file, the file just opened blank for about 3 seconds and disappeared (closed by itself). The PDF files were not deleted from the system, just unable to read as Abode Reader just closed itself.
We tried many options, such as:
1. Many restarts
2. Uninstalled and Reinstalled (as Administrator)
3. Reinstalled previous version (Adobe Reader X)
4. Disable McAfee
5. Etc.
After all these tries and repeated a few times, still could not be able to read any PDF file (those were perfectly fine before yesterday upgrade to version XI).
Thanks, Hung.

I can no longer read PDF files. The window opens and then disappears after a second or two. This began after the last Adobe update. I tried accepting the Adobe terms using Eula.exe but that disn't solve the problem. What do I do?
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

Whenever I try to download a pdf file, Firefox hangs and my only recourse is to power down and power up again. I have to use IE to get the pdf I am after.
You have two PDF "reader" plugins installed. Try disabling one of them. Tools > Addons > Plugins

Adobe Reader could not open 'jwfrank.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
Can you open that file in a text editor and verify that the first four characters are '%PDF' ?
If the document is not confidential, can you share it with us: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1408375 -
Pdf files will not open upon downloading
I download a lot of pdf docs for work and want them to open automatically upon download so I can screen them. Since upgrading to Safari 5.1, when I download files (which has gotten much more cumbersome) they do not automatically open upon download. Yes, I DO have the "open safe files after downloading" option checked in Preferences. Any other thoughts? A solution would be most helpful. (If anyone has a solution to how I can automatically download files as easily as in prior versions, that would be greatly appreciated also.)

.PDF files will not open without saving first
Since downloading Adobe Reader 11.0.07 on 5/20/14 .pdf files will not open without saving them first. I want .pdf files to open first BEFORE I save them (using Windows 7 and Firefox 30.0)

My Aperture 3 just crashed...by that I mean it would not open and showed the message: "Aperture 3 cannot open. -1712." I have the latest A3 version and had been using it continually for 3 years. This was the first crash. And it will not open as often as I tried.
I am using a 13" Macbook Pro with OSX 10.8.5.
I tried sending the A3 application to trash, and reinstalling from my A3 disk. Install message said "installation successful." But A3 would still not open and gave same message with -1712.
Any suggestions what I should do or try?
ThanksPerhaps your Aperture library was damaged, when Aperture crashed. What where you doing, right before the crash happened?
- If you installed new software - programs, plug-ins, preferences panels, check, if they are compatible.
- If you imported new images, you may have imported corrupted files, that crash Aperture.
Can Aperture launch correctly, when you try to open a new Aperture library?
Hold down the options-key, when you launch Aperture and select to create a new library. Import a few images. Does that work?
If Aperture will launch on a new Library, try to repair your current library. Hold down the key-combination option-command ⌥⌘ firmly while double-clicking the Aperture library to open in First Aid Mode. Hold the keys down, until the panel appears, and then try the First Aid Options in turn.
I have the latest A3 version
Is it Aperture 3.4.5? The latest Aperture 3.5.1 will not work with Mt. Lion. -

Hi aadeshs
This problem is on my laptop running Vista ( Business) on Adobe 10.0 , for many years I did NOT have a problem with this . No forum Pages on this.
Also i would like to know how screen readers can better interact with PDF as my wife has difficultys on some email attachments on her laptop , again there seems no easy avenue for someone in her situation surfing websites and forums for Hours maybe ok ok for sighted people, but not if you are blind & use a screenreader. No Support Help from Adobe is available.
thanks

I am trying to delete pages from a PDF file. I opened the bookmarks in the PDF file, selected the pages to delete and choose Edit > Delete. The selected pages are not deleted. Note: I have to open the file using a passport provided by an external party.

I can't open PDF files, can't open, update, or download Adobe Reader. (I had it until recently.) None of the "helps" seem to help. I can't even open Adobe Reader now.
Ignore the instructions about "edit options", to install Adobe Reader download the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ and run the installer. Alternatively, a direct link for the latest version of Adobe Reader is:
http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3.4/enu/AdbeRdr934_en_US.exe
The following article should help you set it up - [[opening PDF files within Firefox]]. -
When I click PDF file, the file does not open and installation software for creative suite automatically begin to start. Even after re-installation of creative suite 5.5, only acrobat reader dose not work and the same phenomena occurs.
Did you ever install Acrobat? It is not installed automatically with CS, but requires an extra installation step.

Why do PDF files in email open in safari with a quick time logo but only one page shows and I can't scroll through the following pages?
Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc. -
Pdf files won't open in Safari running on a Mac
I just upgraded my MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard in preparation for Lion and ever since the upgrade, pdf files won't open in Safari. I have Reader 9.4.5. It opens documents that are on my machine, it just won't open in Safari, nor do the documents download.
MIght be helpful to disable Adobe plugin by going to Adobe Reader's Preferences -> Internet and unchecking "Display PDF in browser using".
Then dump the atrocious bloated Reader.
See this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3252667?start=0&tstart=0 for further solutions.
