PDF in Browser: how to activate comments?

Hello,
i generate "normal" PDF's with iText and show it via Plug-In im IE8 Browser. But, the way to comment something into pdf is deactivated. If I open a file with Adobe Reader, comment tools are activated. I need Textbox-Tool to overwrite some secure text. Any idea?
Thany in advance
Vedran

To my knowledge, commenting in the browser is disabled per spec.
I did find this document that might help you: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/readerExtHelp/help.htm?content=000010.html
I haven't tried it myself so I'm not sure if this works with recent version of Adobe Acrobat/Reader.

  • How to enable commenting into pdf files using java?

    Hi All,
    Is there any way available to enable comments into pdf files through java. I have a Adobe Reader 9 and also I want put some comments into pdf file, but the reader is not allowed to place a comment into pdf file before enabling the Comments into pdf. After enabling the comments in pdf file then only we can place the comments and we can the pdf file with comments.
    Is there any way available to enable comments into pdf file to view acrobat reader.
    Thanks in advance.

    The end user who uses the web application has Acrobat installed in their mahcine needs it only for the purpose of enabling comments in pdf. If this task of enabling comments in pdf is done through my application there is no need for acrobat in such user's machine which was requested as a cost cuttnig measure.
    For this purpose, i need to know about how to enable comments in pdf through java api.
    I have used itext java api for other pdf related manipulation in java. But it does not have feature as per the requirement posted above. Can any body suggest relevant java api to achieve the task requested?
    Tahnks in Advance.

  • How to disable 'Enable JavaScript' and 'Display PDF in browser' in Adobe Reader 9.1 msi?

    I'd like to how to disable 'Enable JavaScript' and 'Display PDF in browser' in Adobe Reader 9.1 msi.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    NeoChang:
    You can modify the installation package using the Adobe Customization Wizard to toggle the "Display PDF in Browser" but I have not found a setting to disable JavaScript from the Wizard. I have created a script which makes the changes, but it has to be run for every user since that info is stored in the User hive of the Windows registry.
    Disable JavaScript:
    REG ADD "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\JSPrefs" /v bEnableJS /d 0 /t REG_DWORD /f
    Disable Browser Integration:
    REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Originals" /v bBrowserIntegration /d 0 /t REG_DWORD /f

  • How to activate Image, Pdf, Hyperlink and Scale Prices in SRM-MDM

    Hi Experts,
    I have requirement to activate the following features:
    1. Image
    2. PDF
    3. Hyperlink
    4. Scale Prices
    These should be activated and should be available in the current business' internal catalogs so that users could be able to easily identify the item they want to create.
    Does anyone know the steps on how to proceed on these?
    I have read and researched about this and I found out that objects should be imported in Data Manager and the link between items should be mapped in Import Manager.
    I tried this first in Image, I was able to successfully import image. I tried adding the link first in existing item in data manager by right click on the Image field->Add/Link New... -> I was brought to the screen where I should add the image again, so I added ti again and there I was able to link the image and the item.
    I understand that for the image to be available in the end-user's internal catalog screen, I should modify UI Configuration. So I added the Image field by going to Customize Display Tab-> and adding it in the Item Lists, Cart Preview, Compare, Item details radio button. But when I checked on end-user's internal catalog screen, Image column is still not there.
    I believe PDF and Image has the same process. But how could I add the link between image and item for the entire catalog items?
    Please also help on how to activate the Hyperlink and Scale price functionality.
    Thank you so much!

  • Subscription Acrobat Pro DC, Adobe Export PDF, Adobe PDF Pack. How can I activate the need of licens?

    Subscription Acrobat Pro DC, Adobe Export PDF, Adobe PDF Pack.
    How can I activate the need of licens?
    The reason can be Adobe policy, I have change computer, added products, stop using any product and so on.

    Hans,
    When you no longer need the Adobe software on a computer or you wish to move it to another one, you should deactivate the software.
    See this link: how to deactivate software. Installation rules will let you install the software on two computers of the same platform (both windows or both mac) but you are limited to running it on only one at a time. If you have only installed it once, you should be able to install it on the other computer. If you have already installed the software twice and you don't have access to your previous computer or you upgraded your computer's hardware, replace a hard drive, upgraded your operating system, or reformatted your drive before deactivating your software, you can ask Adobe Support to help you deactivate the software from the machine. Just have your serial number or Adobe ID ready, and then contact support. Then you can install the software from the links below and enter your serial number to re-activate the software.
    If you need to find your serial number, sign in to your Adobe account. On the Manage Accounts page that appears, all of your registered products and their serial numbers are listed in the Plans & Products section. For more information on locating serial numbers, or on registering a serial number, please see Find a serial number.

  • Force safari to display pdf in browser instead of downloading

    Most of times, my computer displays pdf within Safari browser window, which is my preferred way of viewing online pdf's. But sometimes it downloads it to the "Download" folder. I don't really understand the difference. Is there a way to stop Safari from download pdf's?

    My criticism of your words was founded on a logical interpretation of your words. Your use of +"however, I usually..."+ basically said this to me: +"but I get around the problem altogether by... and you might also consider the same."+ You may wish to argue that I read too much into what you wrote, but that is how my mind works. Hence my previous post. Even so, I appreciate your kind clarification.
    And as to your "invoke search engine" remark which my prior post comments upon, my words were clear. I didn't know what you meant, and I stated my experience about search. But again, thank you for your clarification.
    As to the "site manager denying that capability" comment of your most recent post, I can only say that we don't know if the site manager really wanted us to download the PDF or view it in-browser. Some people throw together sites without thinking too deeply. And reasonably speaking, we cannot expect web designers to "code it properly." I want to view all PDFs in-browser, regardless of the coding.
    Again, this is why one of my earlier posts in this thread mentions *Safari 5 extensions.* I've been using some of them lately, and they work magic. I therefore hope an enterprising extension writer viewing this thread might be inspired to write one that works around "badly coded sites" to empower Safari users to view ALL PDFs, from any site (however badly coded) to display in-browser.

  • Annotating, Stamping, Signing PDF in Browser

    Our company built a browser-based (Internet Explorer) product in which we allow the user to interact with PDFs to stamp, sign, and add comments using SDK 6.  We built an Acrobat Plugin using C++ to create a custom toolbar to facilitate zooming, searching, stamping, etc.  The webpage that hosts Acrobat 6 is part of an ASP.Net application.
    We are attempting to update the application to Acrobat SDK 11.  We have been successful in getting our plug-in toolbar to appear.  The issue is that we are unable to annotate the PDF.  The Acrobat control shows the built-in Acrobat tools for editing, signing, etc, but these controls are grayed-out (disabled).  No matter what we do, we can't get the Adobe browser control in SDK 11 to allow editing.
    Our internet searches have been unsuccessful in any information regarding this.  Is editing/stamping no longer available in the browser?

    Sounds like quite an application, which is probably why you are just getting around to updating from Acrobat 6...
    Please review the SDK documentation and this forum for details about the removing of commenting tools (by default) from the browser back around Acrobat 9/X and how some custom JavaScript can bring it back.  Of course, if you have your own plugin, you can also drive things that way.

  • After generating report in PDF in browser, save on client machine in diff.format

    I want to display my report in the Web Browser (using Servlets), in PDF format.
    Now, the user should be given the option to save this report onto his machine as a local file in a format of his choice (HTML, RTF, PDF, Excel). How can I do this?
    null

    Hello,
    These formats are very different. You can only do this by re-running the report. You could put hyperlinks in the source PDF file that pass on the same command line arguments that were used to run the PDF report, except that DESFORMAT would be changed to another format (HTML, RTF, DELIMITED).

  • MY APP STORE IS NOT WORKING.HOW TO ACTIVATE IT?

    MY APP STORE IS NOT WORKING.HOW TO ACTIVATE IT?

    Hi sahaabhijeet,
    The resource below explains how to use the App Store on your iPhone:
    App Store Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT2001
    The App Store is a place where you can download new applications for your iPhone or iPod touch. You can browse the App Store on your computer with iTunes, or by tapping App Store on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    Do I need to sign up for a new account to shop the App Store?
    If you already have an iTunes Store account, you can shop the App Store. If you do not have an iTunes Store account, you can create one using iTunes. Verify that the country flag at the bottom of the iTunes Store home page displays your country, then choose Store > Create Account. Click here for a way to set up an iTunes App Store account without a credit card. You can also create an iTunes Store account directly from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch by following these instructions.
    Accepted payment types
    Shopping the App Store requires an iTunes Store account. When you create an iTunes Store account, you must provide a payment method for your purchase. The available payment methods vary by country, but typically you can use credit cards, gift cards, store credit, or PayPal.
    In countries where the iTunes Store only sells applications, the accepted payment methods are Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Other payment types such as gift cards, store credit, monthly allowances, and PayPal are not accepted. Depending on your App Store country, prices are listed in either US Dollars or Euros.
    What can I purchase from the App Store?
    At the App Store, you can browse and download applications for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Applications from the App Store can be downloaded to, but not used on, your computer. To use an application from the App Store, simply sync it to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The App Store is also available on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch1 and works over mobile phone networks and Wi-Fi, so you can download applications wirelessly and start using them instantly.
    To use applications or the App Store with iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you must have iOS 2.0  or later installed on your iPhone or iPod touch, and iOS 3.2 or later on iPad.
    Some applications are not available in all countries. Application availability and pricing are subject to change.
    Cheers,
    Judy

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Extended: How to activate logfiles?

    Dear members
    Does  someone now how to activate or read out logfiles of a 3DPDF conversion?
    I would  like to convert Catia V5 data via command line, but cannot find or  activate logs...
    Currently I'm only using the OLE objects "AcroExch.AVDoc" and  "AcroExch.App". In the API reference at livedocs.adobe.com there is  nothing about it.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards
    hanseat82

    That's clear, we are calling the Acrobat over OLE via Perl, scrap:
    use Win32::OLE;
    $infile = $ARGV[0];
    $outfile = $ARGV[1];
    $NOSAVE = -1;
    $PDSAVEFULL = 1;
    ## Create Objects
    $avdoc_obj = Win32::OLE->new('AcroExch.AVDoc') || die "new: $!";
    $app_obj = Win32::OLE->new('AcroExch.App') || die "new: $!";
    ## Open Inputfile
    $avdoc_obj->Open($infile, $infile);
    ## Get PDF Document as Object from Inputfile
    $pddoc_obj = $avdoc_obj->GetPDDoc();
    And I found the Java code from you, Adobe:
    #            catch (ConversionException e)
    #                System.out.println(e.getErrorCode());
    #                System.out.println(e.getConversionLog());
    Can you give me name me the import module of class "ConversionException" or in general how to go on with that?
    Thanks and regards

  • Display PDF in browser issue in 9.1.1

    We deployed the 9.1.1 msp update to all of our clients but we realized that it unchecks "Display PDF in browser," so now I need to figure out how to get that checkbox rechecked for every current user and any new user that logs on.
    I know that all I need to do is delete bBrowserIntegration in HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Originals but this will only change for the currently logged on user. For shared machines that we currently have deployed in our environment how to I  change this setting for all of the users that are currently not logged on or for any future users that may log on?
    Thanks for any help.

    I would create a script to go into the active setup folder that will run when each user logs in.  Appdeploy is a good website for stuff like this.  Here is a link that will might be able to help you create a active setup script if you're not sure.

  • "Display PDF in Browser" setting - $500 reward for the solution

    The corporate policy requires the "Display PDF in Browser" setting to be unchecked for all applications, this is to open the PDF document in new reader instance but our specific application needs the reader to be opened in the same browser even if the preference "Display PDF in Browser" is unchecked.... The setPreference from javascript (html) doesn't seemed to work... How do i make this work? I am looking for programatic way to set this preference in HTML javasript or Java Applet or ActiveX or any other means. I am currently using JS and Object tag, the only functions that we need at this point are page navigation and getting current page using JS.
    Also, I need the links the browser to open in new browser once the PDF is loaded... do I need to reset the preference once it is loaded for the links to open in new browser? How can this be progrmatically achieved without altering the original PDFs?
    I realize that this may be difficult and am looking for workarounds or alternate solutions to meet my req. $500 for anyone who could can provide solution.. Please email me [email protected]
