PDF Links in Excel Sheets - Adobe Prof. won't open

When i try to open a pdf document which is embedded as a link into a excel sheet, Adobe Professional 7.0.0 pops up for a second a close itself again instantly.
I could figure out that the problem lies somewhere in the .pdf file extensions which are managed by the OS (Windows XP in this case). So what im doing is deleting all the WinXp PDF File extensions and creating a new one.
This "hotfix" works as long as i don't reboot the PC. As soon as Windows starts Adobe Professional starts some kind of startup and the problem occurs again.
Anyone a idea ?
Thanks in advance

Have you tried right clicking on a PDF and selecting open with by default, and select AA?

Can you please let me know
    1) How I can convert the PDF into a excel sheet
    2) Which s/w i need to use for that(adobe s/w)
    3) do need to purchse any other 3rd pary s/w to use this
    s/w - software
PDF Image - scanned document in the image format
    Regards
    Shrinivas

You need Acrobat Standard or Pro to convert the scanned image to readable text (OCR) and then save it as a Excel file (if Acrobat recognizes that it's a table, which I doubt it will). Maybe there are some 3rd party plugins that can help you further.

  • Adobe reader won't open on iPad after recent update

After most recent update, adobe reader won't open on my iPad. I have lots of docs that I need to get to. Please help.

This forum is probably the best you can do. We're now on the weekend, and Adobe engineers don't work 24/7. When they return on Monday and see the reports, they'll work to fix it. The update will need to be submitted to Apple and then approved for an update.
Note that there are other apps on the App Store which can read PDFs.

  • Adobe reader won't open, even after re-download

adobe reader won't open because of error - NEED PDF READER NOW!!!!!!!!!

The reason is Adobe has not updated there software yet to play well with Mavericks. The fault is of course with the Adobe Software. I suggest you go to there web site and see if they have a fix yet for there software, If not all you can do is continue to check back with them or get on there fourms and see what others have to say about this same issue.

When I try to open an .ai/pdf file received through my email, it won't open and asks for a password. I have never set up any kind of password for email security, but have tried typing in my standard passwords. Nothing works. I wonder if it has anything to do with the use of my Wacom3 Tablet...I've been having trouble with it and was getting the same message when trying to open the User's Manual in my Applications/WacomTablet file on my hard drive. Any suggestions? I just downloaded the latest version for the Wacom and recently upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.7 (which I hate, and my CS3 hates, etc.)

It sounds like you have a a password-protected PDF. The password was set by the person who encoded it.

  • Adobe Reader won't open

just posted a long question (1st time on this forum) & been sent here after creating a username - do I really need to re-type everything all over again or can someone there see it?
    just in case.....
Adobe Reader won't open - I eventually get a message saying there is no default mail client & telling me to run Outlook & set it as the default mail client (I'm not going to do that).  I then get a message saying that Adobe is not responding.  Uninstalled & re-installed & problem persists.

Since you mention Outlook, I assume that you are on Windows.  Here are some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

There are multiple problems with these forums, and unfortunately things like that happen all the time (to all of us).

  • Is it possible to populate a PDF from an excel sheet?

I have been asked to create a dynamic PDF which will take values from an excel sheet & grow accordingly... Is it possible to link cells(which may not yet have values) in an excel sheet to fields in a dynamic PDF?
    Thanks in advance

If using Acrobat prior to 9 to create forms, you can use Acrobat's JavaScript ADBC, Adobe Data Base Connection, to connect to an SQL database. A named range in Excel will meet this requirement. If you have created your form in LiveCycle Designer to create your forms you can use the data connection.

  • I converted a PDF to an excel sheet, but can't sort the data because of not all the merged data are in the same cell?  What do I do?

I do a sort a converted PDF to an excel spreadsheet?  The merged fields aren't the same...

Sorry, I don't understand anything.  What means "merged data" and "merged fields"?
Can you perhaps provide a screenshot of the original PDF, and the resulting Excel sheet?  See https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1070933

  • Create link to excel sheet from ssrs

    Hi!
I,m trying to create a link from SSRS to an excel sheet that is placed on a server (in my case the same server as Sql is running)
\\csedb30\BusinessWarehouse\VDC\Actual\exceltest.xlsx.  I have made links to url sites and to other reports within reporting services, But this time i would like to use a
textbook control in a report and when the user click on the texbox it should open up the excel sheet in the same way that a hyperlink works in excel. The problem seems to be that i have to link to a source on a server not a URL adress.
Is there any solution to this.
    Best regards
    Arne
    Arne Olsson

    Hi Arne,
In this scenario, you just need to put    file:\\csedb30\BusinessWarehouse\Linktest.xlsx in the Go to URL expression. Don't put "=" in the expression,
and the path will be underlined. And you need to redeploy the project to make it work. After you click the textbox, the path will be shown in the browser.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
    Best Regards,
    Simon Hou

  • Adobe reader won't open PDF file

I have Adobe Reader 9 and Windows 8 on a Dell computer. When I try to open a PDF file from a website it sends me to my Library on my computer and won't open the file. If I try to open a PDF file from my Desktop, it opens OK. What can I do to fix this?

Do you use Firefox' own PDF viewer, or the Adobe Reader plugin?  See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

  • Adobe reader won't open pdf files

I was hoping someone can help. I have Windows XP, and I use Firefox as my web browser. I have installed Adobe Reader, and when I click on a pdf link, in the lower left field of the screen it reads as follows: 'connecting, waiting, stopped' it repeats this over, and over, and over. I eventually have to right click and save the link to the desktop, but this is becoming entirely too frustrating........I have since uninstalled Adobe, and re-installed it, but nothing changed. I even uninstalled Firefox and re-installed, but to no avail.
If anyone has a fix, I am open to your suggestions.
    Thank you.

    Jeff
    Have a look here:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Opening+PDF+files+within+Firefox
    (http://preview.tinyurl.com/5a6klx)
it's probably an issue with the Firefox plugin for Adobe Reader.

  • Adobe Reader won't open PDFs

Why do I keep getting an error message when I try to print a PDF with Adobe Reader? It says that I have to sign the user agreement. I have already done this at least 10 times....

The ikon appears on my desktop ok.  But when I click on it I get the following message:
Adobe Reader could not open "Paul Voigt and Edison Bell.pdf" because it is either not a supported
file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and
    wasn't correctly decoded.
I get this message every time I try to use Adobe Reader!
