PDF portfolio view in Adobe reader

Hi,
I recently created a PDF portfolio for a co-worker using Acrobat 9.0 Pro. I used the Grid with File Preview layout and added a header that appears right above the grid. Everything works well except that when my co-worker opens the PDF portfolio in Adobe Reader,  I think it's 9.0, the preview pane takes up most of the screen so that the grid and header are barely visible. Of course, all my co-worker has to do is move the divider over to the right so that the divider is around the middle of the screen, then he can clearly see the complete grid along with the header.
Is there anyway to make my PDF portfolio open up in Reader so that the dividing line is right in the middle between the grid and preview pane so that the grid and header are clearly visible without having to move the divider? Also, I encountered the same problem when I tried to use a welcome window. In Acrobat 9.0, the welcome window is dead center over the grid and the preview pane is invisible unless I click to proceed. However, when I open the PDF portfolio in Reader, the welcome window only appears in the grid section and again, the gird section is mostly covered up by the preview pane.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • PDF file pages missing when viewed in Adobe Reader XI

    Hi All,
I have been made aware of a recent issue when viewing scanned PDF files in Adobe Reader XI. Pages are missing when the PDF file is viewed in Adobe Reader v.11.0.x though all pages are visible when file is viewed in Adobe Reader 10.1.5?
I can confirm I have checked Show large images option under Preferences -> Page -> Display, though this doesn't appear to have made a difference. I have been able to replicate this same issue on several other machines.
All machines checked and tested are running Windows 7 (64-bit).
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Never heard of such an issue.  Can you share such a PDF with the forum?  See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1408375

  • I have an editable pdf made in Acrobat. Viewing it Adobe Reader Mobile (Android) and I can fill it fine. I want to be able to fill the form but it keeps autosaving. I just want to email the form and then it goes back to an unfilled form. How do i do that?

Currently, Adobe Reader for Android does not provide an option to disable auto-save.
In the Reader home screen (where your files are displayed), you can make a copy of the original PDF document, open the copy (instead of opening the original document), make changes to the copy.  Once you email the copy, you can delete it.
For more information, please see Help > How To... > Copy, edit, delete, manage.
Although it is not the most convenient way to accomplish the task, that's the only feasible workaround that is available in Adobe Reader for Android right now.

  • PDF Viewer or Adobe Reader/QuickOffice Questions - PLEASE REPLY!

Does the D Inc ship preinstalled with the "PDF Viewer" or Adobe Reader?
Also, can you CREATE documents with Quickoffice, or does it only view doc/xls/ppt from attachments? I'm assuming you can also drag documents from the computer to the SD Card and view them on Quickoffice as well?
    Thanks!

The Dinc with 2.1 had a pdf viewer but it was removed from the 2.2 update. You can download the Adobe pdf reader application from the Market for free.
I believe that the QuickOffice installed on the Dinc is for viewing files only. The full paid version of QuickOffice has more options and is available on the market.
Yes you can drag and drop documents into the sd card and they will be viewable by the QuickOffice application.

  • The hyperlinks in my pdf all have a blue shaded box around them when viewing in adobe reader.

The hyperlinks in my pdf all have a blue shaded box around them when viewing in adobe reader. How can I get rid of these? Why is this happening? The pdf was created from a presentation in powerpoint and uses the links for some interactivity.

That's a great feature request. I'd like the ability to turn off the blue boxes over hyperlinks as well.

  • Figures show up pixelated in presentation viewed with Adobe reader

I am working on a presentation which I am making in beamer (latex). Since I am including animations and hyperlinks to sounds, I am using Adobe reader 9 for unix on Lubuntu. Everything is working fine except for one strange thing:
    - The fonts and labels on the figures I am using appear extremely pixelated in the presentation pdf (viewed with Adobe reader) even though if I open them individually, they look fine.
    - If I open the presentation pdf with evince, there is no such problem and the figures look fine. But since animations dont show in evince, I have to use Adobe reader
Apparently this is an Adobe reader problem. I tried meddling with the settings a bit (pixels per inch, smoothen lines...) but with no success. I have no idea why this is happening, but it is quite terrible for me.

As a follow to the above, the problem was related to a file transfer.  The PDFs in question were being transfered from a Unix platform to a Windows Server.  The transfer was defaulting to ASCII or Text and not binary.  Apparently this was never an issue with older versions of Adobe Reader.  Once the transfer was switched to binary, Reader X was able to view the files with no missing pages.  Something was being stripped from the file that Reader X just didn't like.

  • Specific PDF not opening in Adobe Reader on Lumia ...

I get an error message on a Lumia 625 when trying to open a downloaded pdf (88Mb) in Adobe Reader Vers 10.4.3.
I have more than 3Gb free space. The file seems to be successfully downloaded & joins the list of all PDF documents in the Adobe Reader app. All other PDFs DO open OK. Just not this one.
The message reads “The document path is not valid” & phone screen shows “Loading...” but fails to actually open anything
What does this mean & how do I fix it? Thankyou in advance...

Thankyou. The Central Question over this Lumia 625 inability to open a specific pdf (by Lonely Planet) remains:-I could uninstall this Adobe Reader app but think this is not the problem as this app does indeed open all other pdf's on my phone successfully, e.g. the Lonely Planet Invoice!
On the other hand, this particular downloaded & installed pdf can be read on my home PC, my Macbook & my IpodTouch so I can't attribute fault to the filename.
The basic Troubleshoot step of a "soft reset"  is NOT described in the Lumia 625 User Guide & I'm pessimistic this arbitrary step will bear fruit. I have come to the conclusion that no matter what I do, this Lumia model using the MIcrosoft OS has a system flaw that is unable to read the file (a file that other devices & another OS can read) & I will not waste time with ad hoc actions such as resets as this is not a hobby for me.
The pdf in question (88Mb, Lumia free space is >3Gb)  is a travel guide I'd like to use on my next trip & this Lumia 625 is proving not worthy of coming with me. I am disappointed at the lack of "Customer Support" shown by the Nokia Company & I hope this is relayed as some "friendly feedback". Thank you for your own assistance, though.
I invite correction if this assessment is mistaken.

  • How do I save/download a PDF file  as an actual PDF that opens in Adobe Reader?

When I save/download a PDF from Google Chrome it always saves as an Internet Explorer file instead of a PDF that opens in Adobe Reader.
    Why is this?
And how can I fix it?
I really need PDF files for school and work.

What means "an Internet Explorer file"; what is the file type / extension?
Also, how do you "save/download" these files?

  • I adobe acrobat 7.0 professional. When I open or save a PDF it reverts to Adobe Reader XI. How can I change that to the pro as it has far more editing options.

I adobe acrobat 7.0 professional. When I open or save a PDF it reverts to Adobe Reader XI. How can I change that to the pro as it has far more editing options.

You may want to keep Reader. You may want to select Acrobat as your default, but be able to click on a PDF (or PDF link) to open in Reader when needed. There are likely some PDFs that will not open correctly in AA 7 because of new features folks add. Just because it opens in Reader XI does not mean it is in the new format, but just that is the default opening you have. To tell the type of file, you have to open the PDF and check the properties (ctrl-D) and check Description>PDF version.

  • How do I open a link in a pdf in iOS App Adobe Reader 11.6.4?

When I open a pdf in iOS App Adobe Reader 11.6.4 I cannot click on a link, the link is underlined but I have no possibility to choose that link. On a PC this link in the same PDF is functioning correctly.

    Michael,
Your form is a special type of form called a "static XFA form" (typically authored with Adobe LiveCycle Designer).
The "links" in the static XFA form are actually buttons (form fields) that act like hyperlinks.
Unfortunately, Adobe Reader mobile products (including Adobe Reader for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support static (or dynamic) XFA forms.  Sorry for the inconvenience.
The static XFA buttons for web links did not work with any of the non-Adobe PDF viewers that I tried on my iPad, either.  So the users who receive the static XFA form will experience the same problem on mobile devices.

  • How to disable 'Enable JavaScript' and 'Display PDF in browser' in Adobe Reader 9.1 msi?

I'd like to how to disable 'Enable JavaScript' and 'Display PDF in browser' in Adobe Reader 9.1 msi.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    NeoChang:
You can modify the installation package using the Adobe Customization Wizard to toggle the "Display PDF in Browser" but I have not found a setting to disable JavaScript from the Wizard. I have created a script which makes the changes, but it has to be run for every user since that info is stored in the User hive of the Windows registry.
    Disable JavaScript:
    REG ADD "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\JSPrefs" /v bEnableJS /d 0 /t REG_DWORD /f
    Disable Browser Integration:
    REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\Originals" /v bBrowserIntegration /d 0 /t REG_DWORD /f

  • Why do old Adobe PDF files which I attach to a document show as Firefox files instead of an Adobe PDF file after an Adobe Reader update??

Why do old Adobe PDF files which I attach to a document show as Firefox documents in my files instead of an Adobe PDF file after an Adobe Reader update?  My saved files Adobe PDF documents also appear as Firefox documents instead of Adobe PDF files.

NO MATTER WHAT VERSION OF WINDOWS YOU'RE USING:
Right click one of the PDFs with the Word icon.
    Select "Properties"
Where it says "Opens With" there is a button to change it from Word to Adobe Reader, which should be in the list of available programs that pops up.
Choose Reader, and click APPLY before clicking OK.
That will change ALL PDFs to Reader as the default application.

  • PDF quality issues on Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0

The quality of PDF's rendered by Adobe Reader 2.0 PPC is awful when compared to Adobe Reader LE. We are running it on HTC X7500's with a nice 5" display, but you have to zoom in +5x to read the text on our parts manuals, where as LE renders the same manual crisply and sharply and you don't have to zoom in at all to read the text. Unfortunately we use a lot of hyperlinks, forms and annotations in our documents which are only available with AR2.0PPC and not LE or indeed any of the other 3rd party readers (FoxitReader, PocketXPDF or Clearvue).
I'm assuming that this is down to anti-aliasing methods used, and that AR2.0PPC has not been updated for four years!
Are we likely to see a version of Adobe Reader for Pocket PC with the quality of LE? or have Adobe given up on developing this platform?

    >>> Our techs have been using the HTC Blueangel (Same as the I-Mate pictured on your site), and although the image rendered by Adobe Reader was quite sharp, the size of the screen meant you were continually zooming in and out of pages to find the appropriate parts. So weve chosen the HTC X7500 as a replacement because of its 5 screen (amongst other reasons). <<
Ho Kay... have looked at the file and, based on the general layout (drawings with part# references) don't think you can get there from here.
Back to the basic goal, a couple of thoughts based on the assumption that your company is generating these pdf's and needs pda access to them.
Perhaps the part# references can be hyperlinked so the tech could tap the part# on the image and go to a table entry with all of the info on that specific part.
In that case, html would be a better format for navigation since, afaik, there does not seem to be a <back> button in reader.
