PDF Printer Page Size Limitation

I have been creating documents in Microsoft Publisher 2007 & have been trying to convert them to PDF via the Acrobat PDF Maker. When I am dealing with 11x17 & Poster size (36"x48"), the PDFMaker gets into the Converting Process (60%) then displays the following option:
PDF Page Size in Adobe PDF printer is small causing pages to be split.
Press OK to convert without preserving transparency, bookmarks & links.
Press Cancel to choose a bigger sheet (at least 17.00 by 11.00 inches)
I hit cancel & have changed every Page Size option I can find including:
the Change Conversion Settings, in the Adobe PDF tab in Publisher
Conversion Settings: (Created custom setting with default page size)
Printers & Faxes in Control Panel
Adobe PDF Printer
Printing Preferences
Changed default settings & page size
I even changed the output paper 11x17
Yet, it never fails to try to convert everything into letter size. It seems as though it won't do anything over Letter size.
I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard & running Windows XP.
PLEASE HELP!

WOW! I was amazed to see that within minutes of posting my initial thread, I tried something that works.
Apparently, the only way is will actually convert is if you select the regular Print option in the File tab. Then, change the Printer to Adobe PDF & the Paper Size to 11x17. It also worked for 36"x48" becuase I created a custom size named "Poster", so I changed the paper size to Poster & it worked!
I hope this helps someone. I searched for an existing forum on this issue off & on for MONTHS before creating this thread. If anyone has any suggestions why the Adobe PDF tab /PDF Maker wouldn't work, I'd like to know.

  • HELP ON PDF CUSTOM PAGE SIZE

Is there any way to save a 5.5" x 8.5" publisher file to the same sized pdf pages....???
I have Windows Vista and Adobe Reader 8.
I have a 348 page cookbook ready to publish, but the cookbook publisher wants it saved to pdf in the print-page size....5.5 x 8.5, one cookbook page to one print page.   I can get one page of 5.5 x8.5 as a stand alone on an 8/5 x11" pdf page... but can't figure out how to make the pdf page size the needed 5.5 x 8.5"
Is there a trial Adobe-something that allows  this?

You're in a forum for a completely different product than you need.
If you find your way back here to see this, go to the Adobe Acrobat forums. Acrobat will do what you are asking.

  • Fix header/footer size to print page size

Hi, is there a way to fix the font size of the header/footer to the print page size?
Example, when printing 1 PDF in letter, but the pages are from various sized originals, I want all the headers and footers to be the same size on the final letter size printed document. Currently the header and footer changes to the original page size.
    HELP?????

CR doesn't have an option to print just one part of the page. Your only option is to hide all parts you don't want to print first.
Also, you should post your question to the Legacy Developer forum. I'll move it there for you.

  • How to get the Pdf's page size?

    Hi,
Anyone can tell me how to get the pdf's page size with js in acrobat?
    Regards
    Goldbridge

The page size will not always necessarily conform to a standard size such as A4 - PDFs can be defined at any abstract size a user wants. Having a function that only output standard sizes would greatly limit its ability, so it was left up to the user to calculate whether or not the returned rectangle is a standard size as that satisfies many more workflows than the opposite method.

  • Printing to PDF (custom page size) from AutoCAD Won't Work Anymore

The DWG to PDF driver provided with AutoCAD 2013 will not save my artwork to a high enough resolution for me to use.  See attached screen shots of the PDF's printed by AutoCAD's DWG to PDF driver.
The only PDF print driver that I have found that will is the Adobe PDF driver provided with my Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro software.  See attached screen shot of the PDF printed by the Adobe PDF driver.  HOWEVER, I can only print to a standard paper size and I MUST print to a custom page size.  When I try printing to a custom page size it will no longer let me save the PDF.  It simply skips the save window.  It used to work fine up until this past week, but when I came into work on Monday morning it stopped working.  I cannot for the life of me figure out why it won't work now!
DWG to PDF set to Maximum Quality (400 DPI)
DWG to PDF set to Custom 1200DPI
Adobe PDF set to Custom 4000DPI

Try opening the DWG file in AutoCAD 2013 and changing its file format to an older version of Autocad (i.e, 2010/2011/2012).

  • How to change a pdf's page size, margins and page orientation? Are there available tools to do this?

We are converting Lotus Notes documents to PDF by exporting (printing) them to PDF via a PDF writer but found some content are truncated or cropped. We have to manually re-print to pdf using a different page/paper settings in order to capture the content correctly. Are there any other methods or tools which can automate this step? Would it be possible to change the PDF properties to adjust the page size, etc?
Hope there are some useful tools available as there are thousands of documents that are having this issue. Thank you.

The page size options are limited, but are in the crop tool. If there are no tags or other markup, you can also print to a new PDF and adjust the size in the printer interface -- sometimes the simplest method, but not normally recommended. The rotation can be done in the document menu and then saved. The rotation that is typically on the toolbar are only for the current view and does not save with the PDF. Many of these you can use a batch process to resolve (in AA8 that is under the Advanced>Document Processing). The better method is to setup your Adobe PDF printer to create the correct page size and orientation in the future. You can setup to typically expand to fit, select a paper size, and have the settings set to auto-rotate. The later is based on the text that is found on the page. The margin elimination is also part of the crop tool. Hopefully this at least gives you some things to look at. Unfortunately, the tools get moved around with every version, so you may have to search for the tools.

  • What's the maximum print (page) size supported by CS5 64-bit?

I'm using 64-bit Windows 7, Photoshop CS5 64-bit, and have 24GB of RAM. I've put together some panoramas - big ones, up to 20'-30' long. I know the 32-bit version of Photoshop on a 32-bit processor and OS had a page size limit of around 108" long or so. To print anything longer than that required the use of an expensive RIP.
Does anyone know if my 64-bit goodness will allow me to print panos that are 20 to 30 feet long, without having to purchase a RIP? I'd simply give it a try, but I hate to waste a ton of paper just to find out that it wouldn't print completely. Any ideas?
    Thanks much!
    Scott

I think that some print drivers have a limit too, you might want to state what driver you are using.
Some printers do not use a driver, but an export module, that should alleviate all limits.
I remember a very old 30.000 pixel limit, that, I think has been lifted. you want to check the reference documents.

  • PDF print postage size in lower right hand corner

I have a strange issue today, I have a user with the latest version of reader (11.0.5) anytime a job is sent off to the printer it comes out postage size in the lower right corner. What i have tried is
-Print to a different printer, all but 1 work which tells me its an issue with the printer settings somewhere
-change size selection to any variable (actual size, fit, custom scale, etc) doesnt resolve the issue
    -change paper size
    -reset default printing settings
none of these things worked until i went into advanced -> print as image. the problem with this is that it makes print ques enormous on the print server, and slows down printing significantly. are there any other suggestions for fixinig this?

Turns out i needed to restore all settings to default then uncheck the choose paper source by pdf page size. seems to rpint fine now

  • Word to PDF - custom page size isn't being retained

I'm having a problem converting a Microsoft Word docx to a PDF and retaining the proper custom document size. In Word (for Mac) the size in Page Setup is 5.25x8. But when I save it as a PDF, the PDF document properties say it is 8.5x11. Any suggestions?

Open up the printer properties (I assume it is similar on a MAC to a PC) and set the page size there. Acrobat does not necessarily use the page size you have set in your document. It is kind of like printing your document to a printer with letter paper in the paper hopper rather than your custom stock.

  • FOP PDF Printing and size limit?

I am using FOP for PDF printing in Apex 3.1.
If I run a simple query:
    select object_name, object_type
    form obj;
I can print the result to PDF if I limit the rows to 2750 just fine. As soon as I increase it to 2800, the Adobe document has an error and can't be opened.
The OC4J container doesn't receive a memory heap error. I have set the memory values quite high.
It lists in the log lines like:
    08/10/16 00:12:01 [INFO] [1]
    08/10/16 00:12:52 [INFO] [95]
    and then hangs.
    No other text appears.
However, on successful completion, the following message appears: Parsing of document complete, stopping renderer
    Any thoughts are welcome.

We have the PDF printing working with the increased memory sizes but we noticed something odd that we continue to test. Using the OC4J OEM console, we can see the memory usage as we run the reports. It "seems" like the APACHE FOP keeps taking new chunks of memory for each report without releasing the older ones.
For example, I run report A and it grabs a chunk of memory. I view the PDF then close the window. As I go to another screen and invoke a different report, another chunk of memory is taken without the first one being released. You can watch the memory usage go up and up each time you invoke a report.
We want to do some more testing to see what the test cases are (like if I log off APEX - will the memory then be released?) but I have read other Net postings about memory problems with APACHE FOP.
Just wanted to pass this observation along. Once we have some definitive test cases, I will post them here.

  • Pages size limitation

I'm wondering what Pages file size limitation might be. I put together an 83 page document that occupied around 750 MB of disk space when saved, and the next morning when I went to open it, the last 20 pages were trashed. It caused Pages to crash a couple times on launch before I got it to stay open, and I was unable to replace/repair the damage in the file. Anybody else suffered anything like this? Or have I run into a real limitation here?

My G5 has 4 Gb of RAM and plenty of empty space on the boot drive.
Interestingly, when I've tried to reload the images on the blown pages, Pages has reported the image files as corrupted/unopenable even though they open just fine in both PhotoShop CS2 and InDesign. For lack of time, I rebuilt the entire project, all 134 pages, each with a 5x7 300 ppi photo on it, using the very same image files, and had no trouble with it at all.
For what it is worth, I repair permissions regularly, and carefully keep up to date with all updates/patches.
Activity Monitor showed RAM filling upcompletely when I tried to open the file, with free memory down to about 40 Mb when Pages crashed while trying to open the damaged file. I did manage to open the damaged file when it first started misbehaving, and truncated it by chopping off the damaged 20 pages.
This truncated file opens fine, but it also fills memory to about 40 Mb free, before the document opens and memory use frees up over 2 Gb.

  • Do APEX themes have page-size limits?

    Hi:
    APEX 4.2
I have an application that uses theme 2. On one page I have several regions that display updateable items populated with SQL.  One particular region shows a tabular report that contains a combination of updateable and non-updateable items.  This region will show no more than 15 rows.  In one case I know that 22 rows should show.  The pagination links do nothing.  That is, nothing happens when I click the NEXT link or select the next X of Y from a list.
I saw on a not-too-related posting that suggested that a theme for an application can restrict page size.  Is this true?
I've spent two days on this problem, and I have gotten nowhere.
Can anyone suggest what else I should look for?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the response.
I have tried what you have suggested several times, and nothing worked.

  • The printer page size setting is not working in Photoshop 5.1 with Xerox printer

I am attempting to print an output size larger than 8.5 x 11 and Photoshop will not change the size even though the printer setting is now at the larger size.  Illustrator and other programs will print but but Photoshop fails.  This is an issue in both the 32 and 64 bit versions.  Help!

I found the following on the Xerox site...tip of the hat to T Robinson:
Re: Photoshop CS6 on Win 7x64 prints only letter size on Workcentre 7655
    03-20-2013 12:28 PM
We have a Xerox WorkCentre 7435 PCL6, and I have been having a similar problem. I found a workaround in Photoshop CS5, which I will describe in case it is helpful to others. I just upgraded to Photoshop CS6 however, and the workaround no longer works with it. Instead I get an error message if I print a Job History Report. The message is partially cut off at the right margin of the page, but the part I can read says, "Completed with error(016-799): Print Instructi...on Fail detected in Decomposer." (The ellipsis indicates the part of the message that is cut off. What follows it appears on the next line down. I downloaded all updates to CS6 to see if that would help, but it did not.
Here is the workaround that worked for me on CS5:
    1) Click on "Print Settings" in the Print dialog
    2) On the pulldown Paper menu, select "Advanced Paper Selection"
    3) Select the tray where your tabloid (or legal) sized paper is loaded
    4) Click on the button at the right end of the "Paper Size" field to display the Paper Size dialog.
    5) Click on the down arrow button at the right end of the "Original Document Size" field and select "Tabloid" (or "Legal") from the menu.
    6) Click OK to close each of the open dialogs til you get back to the Print dialog and then print your document. The print preview should update to show you a preview reflecting the selected paper size. (This may take a few seconds to happen.)
This worked for me in CS5. Unfortunately, as noted above, it does not seem to work in CS6. The only workaround I can come up with for CS6 is to save the file as a PDF and then print it from Acrobat. This works without a problem, but it's a lot of trouble to go to every time I have to print something other than letter size.
If anyone finds a better workaround in CS6, please let me know.
