PDF - Rotate single image only

The rotate tool in preview rotates ALL of the pages in a pdf file.
How can I rotate only ONE image of a multi-page pdf?
Thank you. - Robert

I don't think preview can do what you are asking. You might need to have Adobe Acrobat, which can rotate individual pages and - with add-ons, individual images or text. I'm not sure if Acrobat Reader can do this, but - since its a free download I suggest you download it from the adobe website and give it a try.
If this doesn't help, you can rotate it in Illustrator or at worst Photoshop and re-import the page back into the file. of course if you open the page in Photoshop, you will be in effect rasterizing it, including the type.

  • Fast rotation of image only for visualization

Good day, i need some help in a problem i have encountered.
We are developing an application for automated inspection of electronic boards. The user must insert the board inside a close box containing the camera and the illumination hardware, to help him find the reference we draw a rectangle and overlay it to the main image from the camera. Problem is that the camera is rotated of 90 degree from the natural insertion point of the box and this is no good from the user point of view.
So i simply decided to rotate of 90 degree the image from the camera, only during the insertion of the board, to help the user. During this fase i have some processing time spent to find the fiducial, over the board, and confirm his position. If i use Imaq Rotate take me about 400 ms to do this operation because i work with large images of 2592x1944. I already tried to reduce the size of the image and then rotate it but i obtained poor results.
There is some other way, maybe in the Imaq Indicator, to speed up the process?
    Thank you.

I was under the impression that IMAQ Rotate would catch the special cases with 90/180/270 degree rotations.  It might help to try switching a few options on or off.  For example, turn bilinear interpolation off.  I think Maintain Size needs to be turned off also.
You might be able to use IMAQ Symmetry.  That works really well for flipping images.  I'm not sure if you could get a rotation using a series of flips.  I'm not sure what Center symmetry is, but it might help.  It might just be both a horizontal and vertical flip together, which won't help any.  If you had a square image you might be able to do it.  The more I think about it, the more I doubt Symmetry will do any good.

  • Editing images in PDF rotation/placement errors

Using Acrobat Pro 10.1.7 on mac 10.8.3
Customer supplied fully imposed sheet, reverse of sheet is black only, well should be, but one logo was 4 colours (black weight only 90%), so we edit the image using the Tool > Content > Edit image command, Photoshop opens the logo, we convert to greyscale (black now 100%) save and allow automatic update in Acrobat Pro.
Problem is the graphic update rotates the image by -90 degrees.
This also happened on a 4 colour image on a different sheet, different customer, where the crop and position of the image toally changed after a RGB image was converted to CMYK using the same method.
Tested this on earlier Acrobat 10.1.6 on mac 10.6.8 and the problem did not happen.
Anyone else experience this? Anyone know how to stop it from happening?
    Many thanks for any feedback.
I have posted this on another page, but felt it worth posting in the Pre Press section too

Had a look to see how intuitive it is...which it isn't.
Can you guide me a little more please?

  • Determining DPI of an image-only PDF

Does the Adobe SDK provide the ability to determine the DPI used for an image-only PDF? I have a set of PDFs and need to be able to sort them into those that were produced by scanned at 300DPI and those scanned at 600DPI.
Can anyone point me to examples of how to use the SDK to analyze a PDF file for this characteristic?
    Thanks,
    Tim

The EASIEST way to do this is to just use Acrobat Preflight - either via Batch or Droplets - to do the sorting for you.
You can create profiles that check for image resolution and then have the output (which either matches or doesn't) go into different directories.

  • Contact sheet only shows single image; need multiple duplicates

I'm trying to print an image using the "Contact Sheet" setting. I need to output a page containing multiple instances of one single image. When I select the image and select "Contact Sheet," it shrinks the single image down and sticks it in the top-left box of what should be a page full of that single image ... but it's only creating a single instance of the image, and the rest of the blocks on the contact sheet are blank.
I'm ready to put my fist through the monitor. Please help before it's too late. Thanks.

Oh, how I do so wish that were the case, but when I click "Customize" and then get to the subsequent screen containing the "Settings" button, and then click said "Settings" button, I get, as previously stated, nothing but a dropdown that allows me to changes settings only for the text that one can select to accompany one's image, as shown in the screen capture found here:

  • Cannot assign changes to groups, only to single images

Since aperture 3.4.4. I cannot assign changes to selected groups of images. Changes are only accepted to single images, although groups are selected. Can anybody help me?

You may have set the "Primary Only flag" - uncheck the little button with the framed "1" or the menu option "Edit > Primary Only".

  • Framemaker to .pdf part of image missing

    Hello
I am using FM 10, Windows XP, Acrobat Pro X
I have converted a book and two images (from about 100) have the bottom 1/8th cut off.
The following may or may not be useful information:
    The image is a .png.
The image has callouts drawn in in Framemaker which print fine.
    I have replaced the drawing.
The drawing has been rotated 90 degrees.
The same problem occurs using FoxIt.
The same portion of the image is cut off if I move the image around.
    Any ideas?
EDIT: I've reimported the image and pdf'd it again and it prints fine.  The problem occurs when I rotate the image 90 degrees counterclockwise.
    Hmm
MORE EDIT: If I use the 'Rotate Counterclockwise' button, it crops a little bit each time it rotates.
    Hmm.

You put a lot of time in to this place, mate, Adobe should be paying you.
I'm just returning the favor. I've picked up several crucial tips here this year. Plus, you really discover if you know something when you try to teach it.
Our company designs lifting tools.  The design boys create them and I make a operation/test/assembly manual for them.
So are you working with wireframe hidden lines removed, or 3D solid renderings?
If wireframe, you would ideally want the image to remain vector all the way into the PDF, if the vector count is reasonable.
... png, jpeg, gif, bmp, tiff, emf, exif and wmf.
I don't know EXIF (except as a metadata format). Of the remainder, only WMF has a prayer of delivering vector, and I'm not sure how well Frame supports that mode.
No eps unfortunately.  Would you recommend using another format?
Autodesk can surely export DWG or DXF, but they are hazardous to your color catalog. Can Autodesk export vector PDF?
You will need to experiment with stroke weights, depending on your print path and any expected PDF viewing size. I'd suggest starting with 0.2 points (as delivered in the final PDF).
I find Illustrator really useful here. It can open DWGs, DXFs, and the EPSIs our older CAD software emits, and easily set stroke weights for final scale. It can also "simplify" complex drawings to some extent. When the PDF of a vector image gets over 250KB, we take steps (usually flattening it to 600 dpi raster). But we like to publish vector when we can.

  • Does rotating an image several times affect the quality?

I'm using a template for a cd sleeve. One half of it is upside down so to work on the other half I have to rotate the image. I will have to rotate the image a hundred times before the project is finished.
Does this affect the quality? If so, any workarounds for me?
    Thank you.

As the previous poster said - use non-destructive transform methods wherever you can. Apart from that, note, that rotating in multiples of 90 degrees does not change the pixels' color and transparency information, as this always coincides with the imaginary rectangular/ square pixel grid and pixels only get re-arranged. Only rotations at different angles will enforce resampling, meaning that in particular edges will be recalculated to keep them visually smooth. Doing this multiple times will result in softening, as the way Photoshop works, it has no knowledge of previous transforms and will apply the full sampling again in a "dumb" manner. Smart objects avoid that limitation, as they concatenate operations, i.e. a rotation of +60 degrees followed by one -20 degrees will be treated as a single 40 degree rotation. Likewise, CS4's canvas rotation, is merely a secondary rotation applied to the screen buffer, not affecting the image itself.

  • Converting PDF/A to PDF while combining images

Thanks in advance for your assistance!
I have a quantity of PDF/A that I need to convert to standard PDFs. However, here's the wrinkle: each file has separate images that are layered over each other. I really need one image that has all the separate images combined. Further information: there's embedded text that needs to be preserved.  An example image is here.  An example of what it needs to look like is here.
How do I do this in Acrobat Pro XI? I've tried a bunch of different things but had no success. I was hoping someone with more experience has some suggestions.  Thanks!

Well, the situation is this. We have an OCR program that reads tiffs of historic newspapers and makes PDFs of them. Then we have another piece of software that creates an XML (containing the text and related metadata) and PNG for screen display using the PDF as the source. Then these are ingested into a third software package that makes the newspaper pages searchable and displays the PNG via the web. It then offers the PDF as a download.
This works for us BUT we upgraded the OCR program and accidentally changed from PDF to PDF/A. For whatever reason the PDFs output with a single image but PDF/A takes any pictures or drawings and makes the separate image layers while "cutting" the pictures out of the main image.  The software that creates the XML can only process the first image it finds in the PDF. We didn't detect the change until we had OCRed about 30,000 pages.
We unfortunately pay per page for the OCRing. So I'm hoping to fix the incorrect files rather than going back and re-OCRing the whole batch and have to pay again on the same pages.  We corrected the process and now PDFs come out of the OCR with just one image. So moving forward we're fine.
So that's why I'm trying to find a way to flatten the images.

  • PDF Watermark - logo image is not displayed in ibr converted pdf

    Hi
I have enabled pdf watermark administration and configured image watermark with rule, if the content type is document then the image watermark is to be applied but it is not displayed to the converted word document to pdf by IBR.
If i change image watermark layer to "over", then image watermark is displayed, but word are displayed under the logo image watermark, so it is difficult to study the document.
If the native file is pdf, then its image watermark is working fine.
    Thanks
    Deepak

    Hi ,
I think this could be caused by the following :
Check the factor set for Transparency and if it is completely opaque (Transparency =0%) then the converted PDF's will not show watermarks which has Layer set to UNDER.
To get the watermarks displayed PPT's will need to be set to Transparency = 100% .
The intention of the UNDER watermarking layer is that it should appear"behind" whatever is in the content layer. If the content layer completely covers the page and is opaque, then nothing behind it will be visible, including watermarks. The only reasonable solution is to check the above mentioned value before submitting the PPT's for conversion so that users are aware of this behavior for PPT's
The above description if for PPT's where in this was found to be caused by the transparency factor of native PPT . If it is a word document then check for the same setting and set to 100% , then test .
    Hope this helps .
    Thanks,
    Srinath

  • Dragging a single image from mac Preview to InDesign CS6 doesn't work but 2 or more images does?

I usually take anywhere form 2500 to 5000 photos in any single day's session. Because of this, I need an easy way to sort through them and grab just the one's I need to import to my InDesign "book". I have been using CS3 for years now, and what I always did was open up Preview on my Mac to browse all my days photos. Then when I found a good one, I would simply drag that single image over to my opened InDesign screen and just drop it into a page. I would then go back to Preview and continue this procedure until I had looked through all the days images. I could even drag multiple images over and once I was over InDesign I can just click each image and pop them into various pages with ease. Then I upgraded to CS6 and I've hit a kink in the works. When I drag over a single image to InDesign, before I drop it into the page my mouse pointer looks like 3 tiny paste images (the little rectangle with the folded down upper left corner). If I release my mouse to drop the image into InDesign, it just flys back to Preview and doesn't drop into InDesign. Now if I get 2 or more images from Preview, this process works just like it always did. But 1 single image... never. I've tried holding down command, shift, control, option, and combos of those buttons to see if anything changes and it never does. I always get the mouse icon with 3 little paste icons. In CS3 if I dragged a single image it would only show 1 paste icon and 3 icons if I dragged 2 or more, but not in CS6. Is there a setting I'm missing or a preference? I've tried looking through everything that I can find to no avail. There has to be a way??? Thanks!

    Use Bridge instead

  • Export a PDF to an image with transparency

    Hello,
I'm trying to export a PDF (which contains a logo with 4 paths) as an image with transparency. In my case I use the PNG because it supports the transparency. As my logo is defined with paths it should be possible to create an image with transparency.
Maybe this is a limitation and Acrobat cannot create image wich supports transparency.
    Anyone have an idea?
    Thanks in advance,
    Joe

    @Joe:
    That's a really pity.
Have you found any other software which can do this job.
I searched yesterday but didn't find anything.
    @Doc Maik
    b)
I have a (lot) PDF containing a single image which has a transparent background.
You can check that in Acrobat by menu: Edit - Preferences - Page Display - Show transparency grid
I need to have a PNG or TIFF (these two formats allow transparency) of that image.
That's all but as it seems to much for Acrobat to handle.
"Save as ..." doesn't work in case of transparency!
    Thanks anyway.
    Best regards
    Norbert

  • Create a PDF with multiple images per page

So this seems really simple, but i cannot figure it out... i am creating a PDF from 30 JPGs and rather than having an image on each page in the PDF I would like to set it up so that there are 6 images per page... any thoughts .. thanks in advance
    cheers
    matt

Once you have the PDF with a single image per page, print it out to a new PDF with 6 pages per page.
Either that, or use an authoring application like Word or InDesign.

  • Single Image, Transition Between Two Pictures

    Hello all,
I have searched all over the internet, but apparently I don't know how to ask what I want.
I want a single image, made from 2 separate pictures I have, but I'm not trying to seamlessly integrate part of one into the other. Let's call them "A" and "B"
What I'm wanting is a single frame where:
    A ----> B
Where the "----->" is a place where the colors from the right edge of "A" gradually change into the colors for the left edge of "B" either (preferably) streaking lines or blurry gradients.
I'm sure there is a tutorial, but whenever I type "transition" I get movie effects, when I type in "gradients" I can only get colors and when type "combine"  I get things like "Bunny with Bat's Mouth".
    Thanks!
PS - If this is better done in Illustrator, that is an option as well.

Okay, on the top layer add a layer mask. Now, after checking that the mask thumbnail is selected, use the gradient tool to "paint" a black gradient on the mask. See image:

  • Adding single image to display list

    Hi,
I have a single image I imported to the library of an Fla document. I could have easily
imported it to the stage, but I chose the library instead. It is a .png file.  It's name
is ace_clubs.png   .     On import a symbol was created  by Flash and I deleted
it. THE ONLY THING IN THE LIBRARY IS ace_clubs.png . I then right clicked on
the the image and filled in for properties the following:
    1. Export for ActionScript
    2. Export in Frame 1
    3. The class was by default named ace_clubs.png which I renamed to
    my_images .
    4. The base class by auto default is flash.display.BitmapData
So how do you get the image (ace_clubs.png)  to display in the Flash movie at say
(0,0) ? Meaning in the ActionScript window what code is needed?
    Thanks
    Jim
P.S. I am sure it is no more than 3 lines of code, I just can't get it right.

To add anything dynamically from the library you need to assign a class name for it.  So as I mentioned already, you will need to have 52 classes in the library.  Having them as movieclips will whittle down your getting them on the stage to...
    var ace_diamonds:Ace_Diamonds = new Ace_Diamonds();
Now if you wanted to you could probably create one class for all cards, as a movieclip.  That movieclip will contain all 52 of your images, and when you instantiate it, you tell it to gotoAndStop at the image that represents its status ( or use visibility instead).  If you weren't using images, and didn't care so much that the cards look like your average deck, then you could do it all with code, just showing the symbol  (clubs, hearts, etc) and value (Ace thru King)
