PDF sent in 'mail' not readable

Some PC's cannot open PDF's created in Pages on the iPad. Error message refers to embedded objects. Advise please and thank you!

I have a similar issue. Windows PCs find my iPad Pages exports illegible and even on the Mac, Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.3.0 has trouble with the embedded fonts.

Sent E-mails Not Saved In Sent Folder

A while back I posted a topic about randomly sent e-mails not being saved in the Apple Mail Sent folder. At the time I thought it had something to do with AOL. BTW, I am using Apple Mail to access AOL's e-mail servers.
I am also using Apple Mail to access the e-mail servers for a web account I have with Your-Site.com. The same thing happened. I was sending an e-mail with a 6MB attachment. The Apple Mail status bar was holding steady at the half way mark. But it was not moving for about 2-3 minutes. Eventually the status bar disappeared. I checked my Sent folder and the e-mail I sent was not listed. No error messages. I did happen to bbc myself to another e-mail account that I have and it did make it there. But I have no idea if the e-mail was received by the company who I addressed it to.
I sent a follow-up e-mail to ask if they have received it but have not heard anything back.
Should I assume they got it since the bbc was successful?
Also, is it possible for randomly sent e-mails not to be saved in the Apple Mail Sent folder? And if so, why is that?

I have the same problem, and I think my mail is an older version 1.3.11 (I don't know why it's not updated though!!) Anyway... it's very frustrating, but I know that even it's not copied in the sent forder, the recipient receive the message. But We don't have any proof until the recipient reply or tell us that he had it. I could say that 97% of my message are copied in the sent folder and the other 3% is lost I don't know where... Why ? I don't understand... I there a probleme with the server .mac or the Mail app. ???

PDF's in Mail Not Previewing Properly - All Text is small Boxes with "X"'s

Hi, when I attach a .pdf file in Mail the letters of the fonts sow up as small boxes with an "X" in the middle. I have attached PDF's before with no problems viewing them in Mail but now they are unreadable.
I contacted Adobe but the PDF looks fine in other applications. I also open the file and save it using "Preview" and it looks fine until I attach it in an email then the font letters are all boxes with "X" in the middle.

Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

Error "number out of range" in pdf sent through mail using smartform outpu

Hi Experts,
We have a program which sends mail using smartform output in 'PDF' format. We are able to preview smartform correctely in SAP and mail is also getting sent fine with attachment of form as PDF document. But, when we try to open the document, it gives error saying 'Number out of range'. Also, not all of the windows of smartform are appearing in document and some are coming only half.
We are not able to find out the reason for this. Any help would be appriciated.

PDF attachments in Mail not showing up in Outlook

I am using the Mail client on Snow Leopard to send a message with a pdf attachment. This attachment is not visible to recipients using Outlook 2010. Why? Windows Friendly Attachments setting is on. The PDF file was created by printing from Pages.

If you have an Exchange server; you need to apply the required Update Rollup to the Exchange server, rather than local Outlook clients. Noe that the Outlook Web Access should still display the PDF attachment.

PDF attachments from Mail not arriving in Outlook on PC

Using 10.6.7, with Font Update, sending with Mail, via Exchange Server 2007.
When attaching PDFs to emails, the attachments aren't being delivered properly in Outlook 2010 on a PC, using same Exchange Server. They are coming through in Outllook for Mac 2011 ok.
You can see the paper clip icon in Outlook 2010, but not attachment is seen in the email when opened. Word, Excel & JPGS etc are coming through ok.
Obvioulsy compressing the PDF works ok, but would like to know the reason for this issue.

In case anyone has similar issues, I've found the cause.
Basically... It's to do with the way Mail encodes attachments as "inline" If you have version2 Rollup3 of Exchange2007, which uses MAPI to send the email to Outlook, which can't render the attachment as it wasn't created the way Outlook expects it to have been.......!

Some sent Mac Mail not being Received

My mac. mail account is receiving mail and indicates it is sending mail but it will not allow me to send my mail to myself (as a test) or to my friend with an active mac mail account. She is having the same problem. In an extra bizarre twist, one small forward externally received mail is able to be sent and received by us both. Neither my friend nor I are getting any error messages on our sent mail. Neither of us have any rules applying to our mail that we are aware of would impact sending and receiving mail. I have tried synching my account, etc.. and nothing seems to work. Can you please help.

Hi. I had this exact same problem, and it had the same oddities yours does. It is an Apple problem, not sure exactly what. But the only way it got solved for me was to write .Mac tech support (be sure it is not their feedback page and also make sure it is .Mac tech support and not Apple). It took them three days, but they finally got back to me and when they did, they gave me detailed instructions that weren't needed, because the problem cleared for me. But not until hearing from them. Either mine was fixed by accident because they cleared the problem for other users who complained or they checked on mine and managed to find the problem.
This cryptic message was included in my email: "Apple has implemented several measures in the .Mac Mail system to help resolve these issues. To assist in our continuing investigation, please inform us in the event that any messages sent from your .Mac account after September 7, 2006, are not received as expected."
There has been some speculation that this problem is being caused by anti-spam software Apple has installed on some servers (to see how it worked—I guess not too well!).
That's all I know about it! There are numerous other threads you can check out for more information, but for me, it was only writing .Mac tech support that made any difference (since the problem was totally on their end).
Another workaround in the meantime—you can change your SMTP server to the server provided for your ISP. I changed it in my .Mac account that wasn't working and it worked fine sending from my Comcast SMTP server.

Sent E-mail Not Appearing in Sent Items - Recipient Never Received

Do they appear sent on the server? If not, then they didn't get to that point.
Check her drafts folder as well. She might have saved it but not sent it.

Weird issue:
We have a Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 user who sent 3 e-mail messages this morning from outlook 2013. The messages were never received by the intended recipients, they are not in the Sent Items folder, they are not in the Deleted Items folder, and when viewing Sent and Deleted Items in OWA, they don't appear there either.
This user was replying to messages from other users in our office, and the messages she was replying to says "You replied to this message at 9:04 AM". None of these replies contained attachments.
A casual search of Outlook reveals no traces of the sent messages. Messages that were sent before and after these messages have been received by the recipients.
Do e-mails really just disappear?

Blank PDF sent to mail

We have a transaction ZME9 through which users can print a Purchase Order Draft or send it to the mail in PDF format .
In one case user is getting a blank PDF documnet for some particualt Purchase orders . We have observed that hte issue is happening for japanese users when they trying to use PDF option for Purchase orders with US vendors .
After investigation we have found out that in this case the Buyer is related to a Pinter and the Device type of that Printer is JPHPLJ4 - HP Laser Jet PCL 5- japanese. In this case the user is getting a blank PDF ,but the print option and the preview option are working fine
But if i change hte Printer in Debugging mode the PDF is generated successfully ,device type of this printer is POST2.
Can you please help me how can i solve this .

Sent e-mails not saved

Mail Version 4.4 (1082) does not store/save sent messages using the Exchange (Microsoft Outlook), and often spottily for Gmail. The command to save them is "ticked" in the preferences. How to remedy this?

Darin, are you using a corrupted font?
Try validating all fonts in Font Book and see if that helps.

Sent mail not sent; .Mac mail not receiving

Having a real problem on several computers. First of all, my ISP assures me that they have not blocked any ports or changed anything about their network recently. And I too have changed nothing recently.
I am not able to send e-mail it seems from my .Mac account, although the messages appear in my Sent folder and I do not receive any error messages. I am not able to send messages to myself to confirm working order. It also doesn't work if I am working thru the web based .Mac e-mail. I have another e-mail address running thru Mail as well and it seems to send and receive e-mail just fine. Although using it to send my .Mac address a message does not work. I have tried to send my .Mac address an e-mail from another .Mac address that my wife uses to no avail either. Similarly my other non-.Mac e-mail address does not receive e-mail from her .Mac address either.
Its puzzling. When I take my wife's MacBook to a local free wifi hotspot all e-mails seem to work fine.

You need to determine if the issue is system wide or isolated to your user account on the computer.
Create a new user account by going to System Preferences>Accounts
Click on the lock in the lower left corner. Enter your admin password.
Click on the + sign and create a new user.
Go to the apple menu and choose the bottom menu choice to log out.
Log into the newly created user account.
Go to System Preferences and choose .Mac
Enter your user name and password in the fields.
Close System Preferences.
Launch Mail and it should be set up automatically and download your mail from the server.
Test whether you can send and receive.
If it does not work. You have a system wide issue.
Your best bet in that case is a reinstall. You need to make sure you don't have other issues.
Run disk utility from the Utilities folder, choose your hard drive, Verify disk.
If Verify disk fails let me know.
If Verify disk passes then repair disk permissions and you are ready to reinstall.
Do an archive and install preserving user and network settings then do a Software Update.

Sent E-mails not being shown

Hi, I have a MBA and since yesterday all the e-mails that I have sent are not being shown in the sent folder. I sent one to myself and I got it so it must be working but how can I see them again after I sent them? Oh and the other problem is that search function does not work the way it used to. When I typed in one word it would show me all e-mails that had that word in them including the ones from e-mail adresses with which had the word in the adress.
Does anyone know how to get this to work?

A couple of important questions to get us on the right track.
1.) What type of email account are you using? Who's the service provider?
2.) What are you using to search? The Spotlight feature inside mail or the OS-wide Spotlight search?
The Mail search requires a little tweaking, by default it doesn't give you access to your entire account just specific mailboxes. There are ways to control if you want to search all mailboxes or if you're looking for the text string as the subject (or just content).

Spool to PDF sent by mail - Pb to open PDF -

Dear all,
I try to convert a spool in a PDF file using the FM 'CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF' and then I send it by mail using 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1'.
When I open the attachement I have the error message from adobe.This error can change depending on what I have in the spool (I let the cover page, I have error 117 from Adobe, I dont' let the cover page I have an other error) !!!
I think that this problem comes from the FM 'CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF' - Sap has just provided 2 Sap note regarding this FM, But it seems that the problem is for Unicode system.
I'm in 4.7, all my programs are flag "Unicode Checks Activ", but my system isn't yet translate in Unicode.
Do you have an idea? May I have to implement the new sap note, or do you know an other solution?
