PDF to Excel Check boxes

When exporting a pdf to excel no check boxes seem to make it into the excel file regardless of being checked or not.
Is there a way to include them in the conversion?

Form elements cannot be converted. Forms/ datasets simply work completely differently in both programs so there is nothing to translate.

  • Pdf's display check boxes wrong

I was able to post this question as it was not asked before. This is incorrect. A thread on this was closed on 2/28/2013 see here...
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/951196
    I am presently using FireFox V 23.0.1
When opening up a PDF with preselected check boxes, instead of a check box the #4 is placed in the box (I know totally random). The previous link has screen shots that represent the problem.
The previous thread, it was closed with a vague declaration that the problem was A) fixed or B) being addressed. This problem should now be considered pervasive as 4 verions have gone by with no correction.
Further PDF documents seem to have all sorts of bugs in them not the least of which is that editable fields for forms are un-editable when viewed in FireFox. If the Adobe API for working with PDF's is lacking, no worries. Please just declare this and state bug fixes for PDF's are low priority due to their hair-pulling, eye gouging, frustrations. I/We will not like the answer but will understand (I code too).
Any thoughts on the cause of this? It ain't cookies or browser cache.
Thank you for your attention on this matter...and your general awesome-es-ness.

The built-in PDF viewer still lacks many features of the Adobe plugin.
A slightly updated version (compared with Firefox 24) is available on the Add-ons site here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/pdfjs/
A development version that contains the latest changes is available from this page (scroll down to Browser Extensions): https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js
I haven't tested those to see whether they change the problems you're encountering.
One of the complexities of researching issues with the Javascript-based PDF viewer is that problems are tracked both on the github site and in the traditional bug tracking system...

  • Changing the Check Box color when selected/deselected

How do I do this using the Action tab in Check Box Properties within Acrobat 7.0 (NOT DESIGNER)?
I added the check boxes to the .PDF using the check box tool (Box Only-No Text).
I am trying to fill the box green when selected and yellow when not selected via ACTION>Mouse Up>Run a JavaScript>Add and enteringthe javasript below with no success:
    if (this.rawValue == "1") {this.fillColor="0,255,0";} else {this.fillColor="255,255,0";}
    PLEASE HELP!!!

If you are in AcroForm and not LiveCycle Designer, you not use LiveCycle Designer FormCalc syntax or LiveCycle Designer references.
    With a single check box:
    if(event.target.isBoxChecked(0)) {
       event.target.fillColor  = color.green;
    } else {
    event.target.fillColor = color.yellow;

  • Missing check box data

I imported a pdf form containing check box fields and distributed the form by email.  In responses, all the data is complete.  However, when I download a response as a pdf form, the check box fields are never checked.  Why?

I’m sorry.  I just realized that the check box fields are ok when downloaded.  It’s an Acrobat 9 Pro issue.
FYI … After downloading the pdf form, I “Insert” a 2nd form to have the downloaded fields populate the 2nd form.  Upon inserting the 2nd form, all the fields in the 2nd form are populated as expected, except the check box fields, which then are all unchecked, even if they had been checked before the Insert.
    Any insight?

    cor-el,
Thanks for your prompt reply. However, the sources you gave do not seem to apply exactly to my situation. I have attached some screenshots that show what the dialogue box looks like for a pdf download, and what my settings in the Apps panel of Options are. You will note in the first screenshot that I have checked the box to handle this file type automatically; however, the next time I try to download a file of that type, the same dialogue box appears looking exactly like the one shown, so checking the "automatic" option appears to do nothing. The files to be downloaded from my Gmail messages are not generic or altered file types - they are shown as pdf, doc, docx, etc. So while your intent was good, your post did not help. Thanks anyway.

  • Check box results are not included in PDF download.

I created a form that includes 300 plus checkboxes and imported the form into FC.
I can see the form results in the excel spreadsheet and the table of results. But when I click the download PDF, none of the check box answers are downloaded. The text box results are visible on the pdf, but not the check-box results...
I want to download a completed PDF that looks like the original document... Here's a link to the pdf form...

Thanks for letting me know that there is a 'bug' and not a problem on my end.
However, two weeks for resolution is a long time to wait when your working on a form project for a client. I just signed up for my first month on Forms Central and after a frustrating week of forum and one on one support, I learn that this online or "cloud" system couldn't process the PDF form.
My concern is this... I found a possible solution to my need to obtain results from a pdf form, but is it reliable? I am currently a week behind on a project and will be even further behind if I use FC to complete the project.
I'm questioning whether I need FC or not. Couldn't I email the fillable pdf form to the user and they complete it and email it back to me... I can save the completed form and export the data????
I'm questioning the reliability and value of FC. If I could speak with support via telephone, then I wouldn't be behind on this project.. If you were in my shoes, how would you feel right now?
Yes... I am a bit frustrated that my first FC form project doesn't work. I believe my concerns are reasonable. What can be done about the two week timeframe? This isn't what I was expecting.
I would like to speak with an Adobe support rep via telephone about this issue.
    I welcome your response...

  • When saving a fill-in form that contains check boxes, the filled in check boxes do not show up on the new PDF. How do I fix this?

Basically, I have a form that comes over from a vendors that is Pre filled. I may have to manually answer some of the check boxes. Either way, when I go to save the form to put in our system, the checkboxes on the newly save PDF are now blank. How do I stop this from happening

I use windows 7 and I current have Adobe Reader XI 11.0.09. The document is transmitted from a vendor to our AWD system, when I open it, it opens in Adobe for viewing and corrections

  • Check Boxes in Excel Wookbook 97-2003 Not Saving Correctly in 2010

Hello and Thank You for Your Time,
We have a large number of workbooks with selection / check boxes that were originally save in the .xls (97-2003) format.
The reasoning for saving in this format is that we have a large organization with a number of different computers running different versions of Office products.
When these .xls files are opened in 2010 and then "re-saved", the text boxes lose their positioning and the fields become overlapped.
How do we avoid this, or what exactly is happening ?
    Thank You

    Hi,
When you say "re-saved", do you mean save the workbooks to the current file format?
Convert a workbook (Excel 97-2003) to new file format (from .xls to .xlsx) will cause compatibility issues, and it will cause a significant loss of functionality or a minor loss of fidelity in an earlier version of Excel as .xlsx format is XML-based
file format, whereas .xls is a binary file format.
I would suggest you to keep working on Compatibility Mode instead of resaving these files to .xlsx files.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Unable to Check ADD Attachment Check Box. Thereby getting only email and not the attachment (which will contain the output of BO report , in Excel Format)

    Post Author: hteoh

I have an BO related issue. I tried to schedule a smtp event in BO to email the report output as Excel. Since this report will go to different users, I unchecked the Use the Job Server's defaults (CHECK BOX). For some reason, I can't check the Add Attachment(CHECK BOX). I received the email but without attachement. Do you know why I can't use attachment. The SMTP event works perfectly if I check Use the Job Server's defaults.

    Hi!
Use the below code to populate the Sender and receiver mail ids:
    DATA GV_SENDER    TYPE SWC_OBJECT.
    DATA GV_SENDER_ID LIKE SWOTOBJID.
    SWC_CONTAINER LT_CONTAINER.
    reset data for CTCV
    CALL FUNCTION 'CTCV_INIT_USER_DATA'.
Create sender using sender mail address from new table
        SWC_CLEAR_CONTAINER LT_CONTAINER.
        SWC_CREATE_OBJECT GV_SENDER    'RECIPIENT' SPACE.
        SWC_SET_ELEMENT LT_CONTAINER 'AddressString'
                                         ZMAIL-SENDER.
        SWC_SET_ELEMENT LT_CONTAINER 'TypeID' 'B'.
        SWC_CALL_METHOD GV_SENDER    'CreateAddress' LT_CONTAINER.
        IF SY-SUBRC NE 0.
             MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE 'E' NUMBER SY-MSGNO
                     WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4
                     RAISING SENDER_CREATION_FAILED.
        ENDIF.
        SWC_OBJECT_TO_PERSISTENT GV_SENDER GV_SENDER_ID.
Similarly you can create the recipient mail id. Pass the GV_SENDER_ID to OPEN_FORM.
    Cheers!

  • Preview not saving check boxes in PDF forms

For some reason 10.6's preview will not save check boxes in PDF forms, you can click them but as soon as you save them they disappear.

I'm having the exact problem. I have a fillable PDF form that has many checkboxes. Saving the pdf (doesn't matter whether it's 'Save', 'Save All', or 'Save As' under the File menu) will clear/reset the checkboxes in the file.
Anyone know of a workaround for this? Or, is Apple fixing this soon? I really don't want to get Acrobat Pro 9 (well, I don't think it's compatible with Snow Leopard yet anyway)
If you'd like a sample PDF file to try it out, let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Check box showing double when PDF opened in Preview

I'm setting up a simple check box functionality on a PDF my company sends out. I noticed the check boxes look strange when the PDF is opened up in Preview on Mac. Not sure about PC as we don't have one here. It appears to look fine in Acrobat but I believe a good portion of our clients will use Preview. What you see in the image below is the result when I make a check box and change the color to blue green. The black check mark over it comes out of nowhere. My temporary work-around is to make the check mark art invisible so just that crappy black line shows up instead, although I hate the way it looks.
Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

You should always include a link to the FREE Adobe Reader with advice that best results will be seen using it when you distribute a PDF.
Of course you cannot control what others will use, but if you expect them to use Preview you need to dumb down the design accordingly.

  • Exporting PDF from InDesign with check boxes & name fields

We are a high production print shop and do most of our proofing via PDF. We email the customer a PDF and they print it out, show it to their customer, mark changes, and fax it back to us. We'd like to start letting the customers email their proofs back to us with a check box marked for either OK or Changes Needed, as well as a place for a name and date.
It appears that InDesign will not do this natively. I can make Acrobat do this, no problem. What I tried to do was to take a PDF of the "Proof OK" box with the check boxes and form fields and drop it into InDesign in hopes that the embedded PDF would hold it's interactive capabilities. It does not.
Is there a way to make this work like I need without a bunch of scripting in a language I don't know well? Taking the hundred or so proofs each day and manually making them interactive PDFs is not really an option for obvious time reasons.
    Thanks,
    Mike

This can't be done in ID, but I'd bet they can help you on the Acrobat Scripting forum. It shouldn't be too hard to do a script that only adds approval checkboxes and sets the document for commenting.
