PDFs do not open in the browser since IE11

Hi,
since the IE11 is installed the PDFs do not open in the browser with Adobe Reader, but directly in Adobe Reader.
The PDFs can be filled but not saved online because they are not open in IE.
If I disable the PlugIn in IE11 and activate again it works again indefinitely.
Can you help me?
PS: translated with Google Translate
Thanks

This, to me, sounds like it's working.  Or perhaps a problem with the translation?

  • EML files are not opened in the browser

EML files opened from a SharePoint 2010 document libraries are not opened in the browser. Instead, a dialog box is opened and prompts to save the file.
Since there's no standard application that knows how to handle EML files, and since the EML format is built into SP (send emails to document libraries), I think this behavior is unacceptable.
EML files should be opened in the browser, similar to SP 2007.

Seems the solution is in the client side configuration.
If eml files (as all other file types) are not configured to open by default in Outlook 2007 (or Windows Live Mail), they will be prompted for download or open.
The registry change link I provided earlier did not work for me. I tried this:
    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:-hgG6T55trAJ:john-h-selnes.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!6C7F16530F119E8D!3092.entry+how+to+configure+sharepoint+to+opem+eml+file+in+outlook+2007%3F&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&source=www.google.com and
solved my problem. Seems by default eml file set to MIME message/rfc822 and associated with windows live mail - SharePoint team hates Outlook team, right?
If you do not have such assoication, it opens in browser!
My settings: MOSS 2007, windows 7, outlook 2007.

  • Since upgrading to Firefox 4 I cannot get PDF files to open in the browser using Acrobat 9.0

I have my Application options set to "Use Adobe Acrobat 9.0 (default)," yet clicking on a pdf link causes the file to be downloaded and opened outside of the browser.
I've checked for missing plug-ins, but that only leads me to a download page for Adobe Reader 10, which should not be necessary since I already have the full version of Acrobat.

In my case it's with .puz files, which are crossword puzzle files used by sites like the New York Times and read by the application AcrossLite. I went into preferences and tried to change the action for the file type from "Save File" to AcrossLite but it would not take. Set it instead to "Always Ask" and then in the dialogue box selected AcrossLite and "always do this" and it gave an unknown error.
This is FF 4 on a Mac.

  • Tricky - PDF file not Opening from Web Browser based application

    Hi Guys,
Just a brief history about the issue:
At my client site everything was fine when IE7 was there and everybody were able to open PDF files from web applications in browsers. But after a IE8 upgrade, things changed and customers are facing problems. All are Windows XP SP3 machines
Issue: If they try to open a pdf file from the browser it just stucks at 0% and hangs with "Cancel" button. Even if they try to save that file it tell downloading and hangs again in the screen without downloading the file.
    Initial fix:
    Open Adobe Reader
    -> select the menu "Edit"
    -> select "Preferences"
    -> select the Category "Internet"
-> set the indicator "Display PDF in browser"
    -> Reboot the machine
This fix worrked for some people but many user are still experiencing the same thing even after changing the setting many times.
Friends, Is there anything else might be creating the trouble here. Please let me know, and why it is that for some systems it is working and for it is not ?
    Thanks,

There was a browser bug with IE in the past that seemed to span several browser versions.  It had to do with the interaction of the browser and the webserver.  The short version is that I had to toggle the caching option on the folder.
Here's what I ended up doing for my client:
Move their PDF documents into a subfolder called forms and all Flash animations into a subfolder called flash
Marked all folders in the site to "Expire Immediately" (IIS -> highlight root folder -> Properties)
Individually marked the "/forms" and "/flash" folders to toggle this caching option
In this way, it allowed dynamic pages to deliver non-cached content (from the server's perspective) and it allowed binary downloads like Flash animations and PDF files to work as expected without errors.  The bug has to do with the cache-negotiation handshaking that goes on between the browser and server.
This may not be what you're seeing but it's good to remember because I've seen it often:  the settings that you'd use to optimize a web applications don't seem to work for binary downloads like a PDF document.

  • PDF form not opening in the IE 7.0.6 version

    Hi,
I am facing a problem with E-Travel application. The user needs to attach document. After attached the pdf document unable to view the attachment in the browser it shows the blank page not the pdf. But in the earlier version of IE it is able to view the pdf. Is there any specific setting needed for the IE 7.0.6 and after?
    Kind Regards
    Mukesh

    Hi Otto,
We have find one solution for this.
The browser incompatibility causes the problem. The PDF attachments are unable to open via the URL provided by the application.
So we customized the class CL_WD_RUNTIME_SERVICES-> ATTACH_FILE_TO_RESPONSE parameter i_inplace as blank.
    Kind Regards
    Mukesh

  • Can you set a PDF to NOT open in a browser?

Is there a way to set a PDF so it opens up in an Acrobat reader, but NOT in a viewer's browser?

No, you can't control how it will be opened by a reader. You can recommend to your user(s) that they download Adobe Reader and provide a link to download the software.

  • Modzilla does not open as the browser. I get an AVG browser instead. How do I get the Modzilla browser back?

Updated FireFox and now the SEARCH page opens with AVG browser. Have uninstalled and then reinstalled FireFox but still get AVG as the browser.

First of all update Firefox, you appear to be using Firefox 5 which is old, unsupported, and not secure.
    * obtain a copy of the installer from <br />http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
** there is no need to uninstall Firefox first. Do NOT use any option to remove personal data as that will destroy bookmarks and passwords.
*an alternative easier method that may work is to use <br />'''Help -> About Firefox -> []check for updates'''
I am guessing the ''AVG browser'' is some sort of toolbar or Firefox extension. Please see
#[[Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page]]
#(CARE ! ) Thread "How to remove AVG Secure Search the manual way" [/questions/936670]
Try the first method initially. The second method may not be applicable in your circumstances, and involves direct editing of the registry, something to be avoided unless there is no alternative.

  • Firefox 3.6.13 will not open as the browser to view web pages from within Dreamweaver CS3

I build websites with Dreamweaver CS3. I am operating on Mac OS 10.4.11 using Firefox 3.6.13 - The problem began on the last software update. I like to use Firefox instead of Safari. Up to the point where I upgraded, I never had a problem but now, when I go to preview/debug in browser, Firefox loads but it goes no farther than my home page ... it will not load the Dreamweaver page preview. Safari works fine. So I think there may be a problem loading 3.6.13 past the startup page.

Here's the fix. Dump Firefox 3.6.13 and Re-Install Firefox 3.5.16. Problem solved.

    Hi Gordon,
Can you please try opening the following PDF: http://samplepdf.com/sample.pdf.
Do try to open it in browser by clicking the abobe link and in Adobe Reader itself by Right-Click on link->"Save link as".
If you still getting these error, uninstall Reader using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html and reinstall Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader.

Since upgrading to v 4.01 I am unable to print from a .pdf opened in the browser. How can I fix this?
I can save the page, open in Adobe Reader and print. When in the browser the File - Print command does nothing. Printer screen does not open.
    Windows XP, all updates installed.

    Hi,
One thing to slow it down: low ink. Please check ink cartridges and replace if required.

  • FireFox 3.6 and Adobe Reader X. Reader X PDFs opened within the browser contain links, which do not work. Anyone got clues on why the links fail and how to fix?

When we rolled out ReaderX and AcrobatX we uncheck the Diaply PDF in Browser window. OK with IE, but ignored in FireFox (3.6.16). We can live with that except the PDFs have links to other URLs and clicking on them is ignored. Same PDF opened outside the browser the links work fine. FireFox with Reader 9.4.0 no problem. Reader X with IE no problem. I can fix the Display in Browser with a change to firefox.js, but have not figured out how to fix the links when the PDF is displayed within the browser.

    My replies are in Bold.
Thank you for your response and message.
    1. Are you seeing this problem with all kinds of PDF's or some specific  kinds like secure PDF's (with doc open password or printing  restrcitions), reader extended PDF's or PDF forms.
This problem is with all kind's of PDF's.
    2. Are you opening a locally saved PDF by doing a drag drop in the  browser or right click and open with IE/FF or directly opening a PDF  hosted on the internet?
It doesn't matter. However I do it, I see this problem in Firefox, IE & Google Chrome.
    3.  Can you also check the version of the Reader X browser plugin? you  could find it at C:\Program Files\Common  Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroPDF.dll. Right click -> Properties  -> Details
If version is 9.0.x then you could try a clean install of Reader X.
I have checked it. It's the latest plug-in (though at the moment, I have gone back to Adobe Reader 9.4.1, as I've mentioned before, because I need the reader to be working fine for my work and daily life. I am just waiting for a fix before I try Adobe Reader X again.
As I've mentioned before, I am seeing this issue ONLY on my Windows 7 Ultimate (Laptop). In the desktop's at work, with Windows XP / Vista, I don't see it. Adobe Reader is working fine, browser integration is fine, the floating tool bar works fine, the right click menu pop' up where the right click is done...I can also save PDF' from the main toolbar at the top and so on...
I really have run out of ideas.... and I am very surprised that no expert support personnel (if at all there is one) have dropped by or said anything or mentioned anything about this.
    Anyway.... Cheers.

  • PDF documents not opening in Mozilla at all, PDF option is not there under the options tab applications

    Hi,
Firefox has automatically been "asking me" if I want to save the pdf document instead of showing them in the browser. I have update 22. I have tried to look for the pdf options under the options>applications settings and it doesn't even show up! Is this because I updated? I updated on July 4th and didn't need a pdf until now and this problem showed up. Before, I did not have this problem. PDFs were opening on the browser and I had that pdf option under the application's list.
So I don't know what to do since I don't even have that option on here. What should I do?

Hi thank you for taking the time to reply.
''"You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use another application like the Adobe Reader"''
Yes, I have Adobe Reader installed and that's my preffered option. I have recently and manually uninstalled Adobe reader,Reinstalled it again, restarted my computer, and I am still having the same problem. I cannot see the option to preview the pdfs in firefox using adobe. It either uses the the Firefox pdf reader Zeon? or the other option is to Always ask me to download it to my desktop.
I have attached what I see, maybe you can help me based on that. It seems the plugins work well (Figure 2) but only the pdf plugin for adobe to be previewed in firefox is missing (Figure1).
Also, I attempted to re-initialize the plugin database but it still gives me the same option as always.
''"You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the about:config page to disable the build-in PDF viewer." ''
No, if I set it to "true" then the pdf option under applications disappears. So I have kept it as false. (Figure 3 shows that it goes missing, not the same as in Figure 1)

  • Blank error message with ? appears and PDF does not open in Browser (IE11) when clicking link to open pdf. PC - IE11 Acrobat 9.0

Blank error message with ? appears and PDF does not open in Browser (IE11) when clicking link to open pdf. PC - IE11 Acrobat 9.0
Cannot access in browser PDF files unless blank box is closed and then website address is clicked on again in browser address bar and page reloaded.
Uninstalled Acrobat 9, reinstalled, still same problem.
    Help please!

Yes I can it only happens in the browser..
I reinstalled Windows on my machine and started over a couple of weeks ago.
When my desktop started up I didn’t have Acrobat installed and clicked on a pdf file and the open with xxx dialogue box came open.
I chose a different program as Acrobat wasn’t installed yet so it associated pdf files with another program.
Later Installed Acrobat and couldn’t associate the pdf file with acrobat so I went into Folder Options and manually associated PDF files with Acrobat.
Ever since then I get the error when something is downloaded and opened in the browser.
Works fine everywhere else and when I cancel the blank error, highlight the web address and press enter to reload it works 90% of the time.
    Not sure what to do..
