PEI to save username and password on login

Hi,
I need to replace the functionality that was in 4.5 to pass the username and password for authenticating to other systems, while using "Remember My Password". This functionality was removed from 5.x without a workaround. Support has recommened posting here, to see if anyone has done this. They recommended righting a custom PEI to capture and store the information.
Any help would be appreciated.

Akash, I think the fundamental problem is that, in 5.0, if "Remember my password" is used, the portal does not actually ever get the password (kind of a misnomer: it would be better called, "Don't prompt me for login"), and therefore can not pass it to portlets any way.
I do know that some customers have implemented PEIs to store the password in a browser cookie alongside the new 5.0 session cookie (which is how 4.5 implemented "remember my password": it actually remembered the password, which was less secure than the 5.0 mechanism) and read it back into the portal.

Issue:
Cisco firewalls require only one level of password i.e. the domain username and password are used for both logging in as well as reaching global configuration mode.
Background:
We have multiple Cisco network devices set up which authenticate to our Windows domain controller using NPS (Windows 2008 R2). The switches we have set up all function exactly as we would hope as they require your domain username and password to login to the device. They then require a separate password when you use the enable command, this is stored in Active Directory:
Switches:
Username:domain-username
Password:domain-password
SWITCH>enable
Password:enable-password-in-Active-Directory
SWITCH#
Firewalls (as they currently are):
Username:domain-username
Password:domain-password
FIREWALL>enable
Password:domain-password
FIREWALL #
With the firewalls however, they require your domain username and password first, and then your domain password again when using the enable command. I want the firewalls to use the enable level password that the switches currently use instead of the domain password again. The current configuration look like the following:

Cisco ASA works that way by design. You could remove "aaa authentication enable" and then you could use the "enable password" command to set your enable password.
But if you do that, then ASA would change your username to "enable_15". That would break Authorization and Accounting if you're using them. Let me clarify with an example
Firewalls :
Username:domain-username
Password:domain-password
FIREWALL>show curpriv
Username : domain-username
Current privilege level : 1
Current Mode/s : P_UNPR
FIREWALL>enable
Password:enable-password-from-running-config
FIREWALL #show curpriv
Username : enable_15
Current privilege level : 15

If you're using Authorization and Accounting it's recommended to stick with your current behavior.

10.0.01 ver. doesn't sign-in automatically i look up password manager, it seems it saves usernames and passwords, when i visit websites i am not automatically signed in and when i reopen mozilla it keeps on asking main password to sign-in all the time.

mozilla fills user name when i click but after that it asks for main password (whats the purpose of remembering passwords if it will ask for main password)

my problem is not related with using main password or not...
in former versions of firefox i was automatically signed in to websites without any click... it wasnt asking me to sign-in (because my usernames and passwords were remembered-and saved in password manager)
in this version they are remembered again but i have to write first 2-3 letters of my username and it remembers my username then it remembers password...
for example when i clicked twitter.com my account and my homepage as automatically opened, but in this version when i click twitter.com it opens the sign-in page and i write first 2 letters of my user name it remembers name and password and then i signin
(difference i was at where i want to sign in with one click--- but in new version 1click for webpage-1 click for clicking to username are-1-2 letter writing to find my user name-1 click to remember password-1 click to sign in) an addition: also if i am using main password i am entering main password and click to sign-in
This can be little problem to u, but it is really annoying problem, 9-10 clicks more for each webpage which i wanted mozilla to remember my usernames and passwords... it also asks main password if i am using...
if i want to visit 5-6 different websites it means 70-80 clicks more and 50-60 letters typing according to your main password .. (in opera and mozillas former versions it is just 5-6 clicks)
so main problem is the cookies were remembered in all the sessions but after it updated to v.10.0.1 expiry date of cookies of same websites that i visit are just for one session... it is not related with the websites and their servers that i visit because if so how can Opera remembers all the time...

Why are you still using that old version of Firefox? 
3.5.19 is the latest of the Firefox 3.5 version, and that is about to be no longer supported by Mozilla.

What is the username and password for login to apex? please help

Dear Friends
I'm new with oracle Apex.
I read the installation guid i i succeed in installing it and configuring DAD's file also.
Now i log on the url:

the logon dialog appeared but i do not know the username and the password to log on
will any one tell me what is the default username or password
or how to get them?
by the way : the release i installed is Release 3.1

I belive i had not enter username or password during installation.
Do you think i have to reinstall it again.

I enter username and password to login into a website, use the site and then logoff. When I open the site again the username & password are alread filled in,

The only way to prevent to from happening that I've found so far is to close Firefox. When I open back up, go to the site the username and password are empty. This hasn't happened with previous versions of Firefox.

You can set the Boolean pref signon.autofillForms to false on the about:config page.

This can also be caused by cookies that weren't removed properly when you logged off.

Can I save my username and password to login to a wifi network on a pop-up window?

At my college, we have two ways to loging to the wifi. Either directly on the browser, or an annoying pop up window comes up. What I want to do is either stop the pop up window entirely, (preferrable) or save my password to the pop up window.
Also, this pop up window only seems to occur for me. None of my friends get it.

How to override private browsing and save the passwords all the time? How to save username and passwords when logged in no matter what?

I have a smart kid that uses computer, he gets on to web sites but it doesnt save his passwords so i can see what he is doing. He might be using private browsing or saying never remember password. I went into custom settings and said always remember. It still asks so you can say no do not remember. I set master password too. What can i do?

even if the answer is NO: u can't browse with private browsing in a new window because mozilla have though this will be too much freedom..... then at least it would be good to know!

Enter the valid user name and password to login into the workspace

As we are working on System 9.2.0, the problem we are facing are as we log into Workspace we get a error "PLEASE ENTER THE VALID USERNAME AND PASSWORD TO LOGIN TO THE SYSTEM"; and the moment we access FR studio another error message pops up which says "COULD NOT CONNECT TO GSM SERVER HYPERION:1800" we have installed Hyperion BI/UI within the same folder and configured with same repository, Every service is successfully installed and configured, in the shared services we are able to see the BI+ node and we also have tried configuring the shared services and BI/UI , twice or thrice. Kindly suggest the solution for the same.

Username and password setting

There are a few web sites that for some reason the menu to save username and password did not come up. Is there a way I can save these setting for certain websites?

As Templeton says, it depends on the coding of each site.
Many bank sites, for example, removed that capability as a security measure.
What I usually do in such cases is manually add an item to my Keychain (via the Keychain Access app in Applications/Utilities), using the full or partial name or address. Then I can find it in my Keychain when needed, and it's as secure as any "real" Keychain entry.

i hav sent username and password to login.jsp page to next servlet page, in servlet file create session and i will bound the username and password.so i will create for each user session and set the attributes..its working fine.
but problem is whn i hav enters username and password i want to knowexisting valid session users having this username and password.that is i want to enter the only one user with the same username and password.....i want to restrict the same user for two logins at same instant.....

Hi,
You could use a HashMap stored in application scope or implement a Singleton-patterned class that has a HashMap as an attribute.
After valid username & password is entered, you should retrieve this HashMap and look for an entry using username(all username must be differents)

map.put(username, new Object());
}Be aware to synchronize all read/write calls to HashMap as well as implement session listeners Interface and methods to clean HashMap when session had expired and when user had logged out.

Did you create database using dbca after installation or you choose to created during install?
If you did you can create scott schema using this
sql> @\Oracle\product\10.2.0\...\RDBMS\ADMIN\scott.sql
You can login as sysdba and see if scott user created for you, offcourse if you have created database using DBCA or during isntall in first place.
sqlplus "/as sysdba"
Sql> select username , status from dba_users where username='SCOTT';
I strongly recommend you to create new database using DBCA and it will let you walk thru all the steps.

Darren,
You need to log in to ACS on the console of the Windows server (assuming it's not an ACS Solution Engine). If you do that, http://localhost:2002 it should take you straight in with no username/password prompt. Once in you can setup admin users and access from other boxes.
