Performance Counters on Windows Server 2003

This is a new install of ColdFusion MX7 on Windows Server
2003. When I open up Performance Monitor in the Operating System I
don't have any counters for ColdFusion.
+ The "Enable Performance Monitoring" option is checked "On"
in the CF Administrator.
+ This is a single server installation
I've never had this problem before after many CF installs. Is
there some way to add them manually?
Thanks

HI
whats your client system configuration like RAM size(Greater than 1 gb is effective) and also check the virtual memory.
sometime,Bandwidth allocation may cause the connectivity slow between client and server.
If so,try to increase the bandwidth.

  • 11g performance counters error on Server 2003

    Environment - fresh install of 11g (11.1.0.6.0) on a fresh Server 2003 R2 box. All configuration is largely out-of-the-box.
    When I start the "Oracle Counters for Windows Performance Monitor" item from the start menu, I get a dialog box error with the following:
    Unable to add these counters:
    \Oracle11 Sorts(0)\sorts in memory/sec
    \Oracle11 Sorts(0)\sorts on disk/sec
    Clicking OK to that error, Performance Monitor does come up but when I try to add a counter, there is no Oracle-related Performance Object to choose, just the standard Windows, ASP, etc. ones.
    Any ideas?

    Personally I'd rather use Grid Control on x86-64 Linux.
    But, I was asking about the error message I'm getting in hopes that perhaps someone else has seen this to. I wasn't asking what operating system to choose for Oracle, nor what management tool is best, though I do appreciate your feedback. As for why: simple curiousity. I want to poke around to see how 11g metrics are exposed and instrumented within Windows' own management frameworks, since I run into Oracle-on-Windows quite a bit. Pushing buttons in test environments just to see what they do is how we learn the strengths and weaknesses of all these technology products.

  • Windows Server 2003 No Mouse or Keyboard

    Hi,
    After a hard reboot (accidentally being unplugged) I have no mouse and keyboard input. I am stuck on the Login Screen. I am using a hard wired USB keyboard and mouse and I don't have a PS/2 on the computer. Accessing the computer remotely is not an option
    because I can't login to start any programs.
    Thanks

    You might try a repair install.

  • Active Directory not working Windows Server 2003 R2

    Hi,
    Like the subject said my root problem is either my Active Directory or DSN server. In order to properly explain the situation I will have to make the full Story. I was contacted by a family member to help
    out a Non profit organisation with there server problem. Their current config is Windows Server 2003 R2 Running DC,AD,DNS,DCHP,File Services( i know is not efficient).
    Here is how I come in to play, prior of me helping the had another server running same spec started having hardware failure and the invested in a new server. The person that set it up did replicate the server
    on the new one as far as AC and Domain controller but nothing else. We ll now the DC01 failed and no user cannot login into a new computer
    or if a new employee will try to added the changes don't take effect. Seeing the situation I went for the basic and seize fsmo roles to the new server. Perform Metadata clean up. Configure the DC02 as Master Domain Controller. Now everything
    is set up and running but still No new user can be added or any exiting can log in
    a different computer. At this point am out of answer I try everything I found in the forum. Am almost to the verge of deleting all and start
    from scratch me knowing all config. Sorry for the long story am not good on resuming stuff. Please let me know If I need to add any other detail
    I repeat DC01 is DEAD...
    Also when a new user try to login or an existing user try to loging they get the system cannot log you on now because the domain is not available

    Not Sure if this is the info requested but I ran the commands

    Hello,
    I am trying to backup multiple Windows Server 2003 R2 VMs on Hyper-V (Windows Server 2012 R2) with DPM.

    In the Windows Server 2003 R2 VM there are no errors in the eventlog.
    Only the information, that VSS is started and stopped after a while.
    When I do a Backup with ntbackup of in the VM everything runs fine.
    When I create a checkpoint with Hyper-V everything runs fine, too.
    The integration services are up to date and get-vmintegrationservice -vmname VMName shows everything is enabled and OK.
    On the Hyper-V host there are 13 VMs. 3 of them are running Windows Server 2003 R2 and 2 of them are showing this error. It seems to be no general problem with Windows Server 2003 R2 then.
    I tried the backup on a different Hyper-V host with no success.
    How can I narrow down the cause of this error?
    Thanks.
    greets,
    torsten

    Thank you to everyone in this thread!
    After digging through VSS and Hyper-V dead-ends, the solution above worked for me in a W2012 R2 environment.
    I only had this problem trying to back up W2012 R2 Hyper-V VMs stored on a CSV, hosted on a W2012 R2 Host Cluster, backing up from a Host node.  I could back up from within the guests fine.  Both Windows Server Backup and DPM 2012 R2
    gave VSS errors on the cluster hosts.
    In fact Windows Server Backup complains with 80780189 it won't back up an application with files on a CSV, which is a common cluster configuration.  This is an example of another caveat in a minefield of MS caveats buried in fine print which often negates
    configurations touted by MS Marketing, things which sound great on a sell sheet, but in practice are impractical or just not production-ready because of these restrictions.
    Disabled Backup in Integration Services, performed an offline back up from DPM 2012 R2 (which did briefly affect serving the workloads on the VM), which succeeded, and then re-enabled Backup in Integration Services.  DPM then continued to
    sync successfully after that for a day.  However, this problem returned after a period of heavy DPM backup activity.  So I redistributed backups through various Protection Groups to spread the DPM load over a longer period and this seems to
    have solved this problem.
    In general I had lots of problems installing, configuring, and now operating DPM, so the experience has not been smooth, but most of the problems have now been solved.  I find you have to "baby" this product and not push it too hard,
    otherwise things start breaking.
    Thanks again everyone!

    Hi Srini,
           The issue is resolved. Thanks for your response.
        The issue is, windows 2003 server is 32 bit and I am trying to install 64 bit 11g database. I tried installing 32 bit 11g database. Before that I have cleared the traces of virtual box in my host system and reinstalled it and tried. It worked out.
    Thanks

  • Tuxedo Memory Leak Issue (Tuxedo 8.1 - Windows Server 2003)

    Hi
    We are running tuxedo 8.1, 32 bit with patch level 258 in our windows server 2003 based production environment. We are currently facing an issue where the memory usage of machine slowly keeps on going higher and higher eventually resulting in “Memory Allocation Failure” to tuxedo servers. We then have to do a complete restart of tuxedo which stabilizes the system for other few days.
    We have been analyzing the our source code in development/test environment using different tools like a customized Alzheimer tool and IBM purify but both tools reported no memory leaks. We then developed a test tuxedo server exposing a tuxedo service which simply allocates a memory to a response buffer and then returns the response buffer. I then configured tuxedo queue with same name “MEMTEST3” and configured a TMQForward server to call this “MEMTEST3” service every time a message is en-queued to the MEMTEST3 queue.
    unsigned long _LIBENTRY ulTPAlloc(FBFR32 **ppc, long size)
    unsigned long ulRes = MSG_SUCCESS_c;
    ppc = (FBFR32 ) tpalloc("FML32", (char *) 0, size);
    if (*ppc == (FBFR32 *) 0) {
    vLogMessage(hGetLogHandle(), MSG_MEM_ALLOC_ERR_c, (char *) 0, (Event_t *) 0,
    BM_NOSUPPRESS_c, size);
    ulRes = MSG_MEM_ALLOC_ERR_c;
    return (ulRes);
    /*==============================================================================
    Service MEMTEST2
    ==============================================================================*/
    void MEMTEST3(TPSVCINFO *pRequest)
    FBFR32 *pFmlResponse = NULL;
    FBFR32 *pFml = NULL;
    unsigned long ulRes = MSG_SUCCESS_c;
    unsigned long ulActionCode = 0;
    int iExitValue = 0;
    long lTpurcode = 0;
    FBFR32 *pFmlNULL = NULL;
    userlog("Starting MEMTEST3 service.");
    if (pRequest == NULL || pRequest->data == NULL)
    vLogMessage(hGetLogHandle(), MSG_API_ARGS_ERR_c, NULL, NULL, BM_NOSUPPRESS_c);
    ulRes = MSG_API_ARGS_ERR_c;
    else
    pFml = (FBFR32 *) pRequest->data;
    userlog("MEMTEST3: GET THE MEM");
    ulRes = ulTPAlloc(&pFmlResponse, 1024);
    userlog("Ending MEMTEST3 service.");
    tpreturn( iExitValue, lTpurcode, ( char * ) pFmlResponse , 0L, 0L );
    While I was en-queuing the messages to the queue, I kept on monitoring the memory usage of the server hosting the service. What I observed was that I saw an initial hike in the usage of memory of the server followed by small jumps in memory increase. I kept on monitoring the server for a long time and the memory was never returned. What I suspect is that there is memory leak in tuxedo TMQforward process as it never released the memory allocated in the service.
    Can anyone help how this situation can be avoided ?
    Kind Regards,
    Asim

    Hi Todd,
    Also as well as my previous question, I also found your reply to another user posting something similar at Re: Memory leaks in Tuxedo libraries
    You mention that:
    In general Tuxedo will free anything it allocates, although there are cases where memory is allocated and not freed because:
    +1) it is one time or a fixed number of times allocations that will not continue to grow, and freeing up the memory just before exiting isn't of any benefit.+
    +2) the memory is under Tuxedo's memory management functions where we manage our own look aside lists to provide better buffer allocation performance and again freeing these before process termination is of little benefit.+
    Our code does only issue TPALLOC once and then a TPRETURN - could point (1) of your comment above also be something of concern to us, where we would observe a continuous growth of memory usage?
    I know it may sound like a stupid question but do we need to run our code 20,000 times before memory gets freed?
    Kind Regards,
    Asim

  • System Refresh On Windows Server 2003 ( Oracle )

    Hello Gurus,
    We are having ecc5.0 production server on windows 2003 server ( oracle as an database ).
    We want to perform system copy.
    can somebody guide me the procedure on windows server.
    Server Information
    ECC - 5.0
    Window Server - 2003
    Oracle ( 9.2.0.8.0)
    I have one doubt should we use SAPinst for export/import procedure or backup restore from our production server to dev server
    regards
    Shishir

    Hi Shishir,
    I have one doubt should we use SAPinst for export/import procedure or backup restore from our production server to dev server
    DEV System is your original System never refresh DEV System with Production. It is recommended to do System refresh on QA system or any other stand alone system (Test System).
    Also see the below points.
    1. If you have large database then use the backup restore process. this will help you to reduce your downtime.
    2. You can go for the export/import process i.e R3load using SAPinst.
    For more information see the system copy guide as suggested earlier.
    Thanks,
    Shambo

  • Windows Server 2003 R2 on MacBook Pro?

    I've spent some time on Google and it seems some people have installed W2K3R2 with Boot Camp but they have a variety of driver issues. From what I've read the keyboard mapping is the most problematic issue initially? If anyone here in the forum is running Windows Server 2003 R2 on their MacBook Pro I would be very interested in hearing about your experience. While running W2K3R2 in VMware is an option, I am looking to extract maximum performance from this installation so Boot Camp would be ideal.

    Hi,
    since W2K3 and XP-64 uses the same code-base/kernel and XP-64 is not supported by Apple with BootCamp Drivers, this might be not that easy to solve.
    I once installed XP-64 on my Mac Pro and while I was able to find most drivers for it on the internet, I couldn't get any Apple-specific hardware to work.
    And the keyboard or better said, some special-keys like Eject, Brightness, etc. was one of them.
    The basic keyboard functions should work.
    Regards
    Stefan

    While performing installation at the begining when we run sapinst server logoff at the begining, then we proceed ahead and start the installation.
    My question why in windows server installation phase why our server log off.
    I have observer in this time it creates a sapinst_instdir folder in program files and collect all the information of our installation
    Can anybody gives me answer of my doubt
    Thanks & Regards
    Shishir

    > My question why in windows server installation phase why our server log off.
    If you read the Window popping up before the system logs you off you will get that information...

  • One of the DC can't connect to AD for Windows server 2003

    Dear Sir,
    We have 2 Domain Controllers in our Domain, DC1 and DC3, which is running on Windows Server 2003 SP2, I found the DC3 failed to connect to AD, and I found the following error message logged in the system event many time
    Source: MRxSmb
    Type : Error
    主瀏覽器從電腦 DC1 收到 認為它是傳輸 NetBT_Tcpip_{C1D9AA59-2423-4059-A773 網域主瀏覽器的伺服器宣告。 主瀏覽器已中止或已強制選擇。

    Source: Kerberos
    Type: Error
    The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server host/dc1.domain.com.  This indicates that the password used to encrypt the kerberos service ticket is different than that on the target server. Commonly, this is due to identically
    named  machine accounts in the target realm (Domain name), and the client realm.   Please contact your system administrator.
    I have searched on internet, and tried some of the suggestions but still can't fixed the issue, I also can't depromo the DC3, and can't use remote desktop connection connect to DC3
    What can I do now, can I just reinstall the DC3 and process the dcpromo again?

  • Upgrading windows server 2003 domain controller to windows server 2008

    Hello friedns :
    We have a company with about 2000 users , and two windows server 2003 domain controllers , one of them acts as a primary domain controller , and the other acts as secondary domain controller , all the FSMO s are on the primary DC ,we have decided to upgrade all of our servers from windows server 2003 to windows server 2008 , the first step is to upgrade the domain controllers to windows server 2008 , our domain controllers are so sensitive and has to be active 24 hours a day , i have stress upgrading it to windows server 2008 , what is the best solution to upgrade it with no risk ?
    ( i have an opinion but i am not sure and i dont have any guide about it , i want to install a windows server 2008 and promote it as an additional domain controller to the windows server 2003 DC and the transfer all the FSMOs to it , and then promote the first domain controller !!! is that possible ? if yes , is there any guide about it? )
    If there is a guide available for it please let me know . (Specially if there is a tip & trick)
    thank you guys.
    Network is my LOVE

    Hi,
    This TechNet online article might be helpful for you.
    How to Upgrade Domain Controllers to Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee522994(WS.10).aspx
    For your convenience, I have list some general steps for your reference.
    Since the following operation have potential damage to Active Directory database, it is highly suggested that you'd better perform a full backup of Active Directory (System State) firstly. Also it is better to test the following procedure in a similar lab environment first.
    General Steps:
    =============
    1. Verify the new server's TCP/IP configuration has been pointed to the current DNS server.
    2. Make the new server become a member server of the current Windows Server 2003 domain first.
    3. Upgrade the Windows Server 2003 forest schema to Windows Server 2008 schema with the "adprep /forestprep" command on old server.
    Please run the "adprep.exe /forestprep" command from the Windows Server 2008 installation disk on the schema master. To do this, insert the Windows Server 2008 installation disk, and then type the following command:
    Drive:\sources\ADPREP\adprep.exe /forestprep
    4. Upgrade the Windows 2003 domain schema with the "adprep /domainprep" command on old server.
    Please run the "adprep.exe /domainprep" command from the Windows Server 2008 installation disk on the infrastructure master. To do this, insert the Windows Server 2008 installation disk, and then type the following command:
    Drive:\sources\ADPREP \adprep.exe /domainprep
    5. Insert Windows Server 2008 Installation Disc in the new server.
    6. Run "dcpromo" on new server to promote it as an additional domain controller in existing Windows 2003 domain, afterwards you may verify the installation of Active Directory.
    Please refer to:
    How to Verify an Active Directory Installation in Windows Server 2003
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816106
    7. Verify the new server's TCP/IP configuration has been pointed to current DNS server.
    8. Enable Global Catalog on new server and manually Check Replication Topology and afterwards manually trigger replication (Replicate Now) to synchronize Active Directory database between 2 replicas.
    Please note: It will some time to replicate GC between DC, please wait some time with patience.
    9. Disable Global Catalog on the old DC.
    10. Transfer all the FSMO roles from the old DC to the new DC.
    Please refer to:
    How to view and transfer FSMO roles in Windows Server 2003
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324801
    11. Verify that the old DNS Server Zone type is Active Directory-Integrated. If not, please refer to:
    How To: Convert DNS Primary Server to Active Directory Integrated
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816101
    Note: Active Directory Integrated-Zone is available only if DNS server is a domain controller.
    12. Install DNS component on new server and configure it as a new DNS Server (Active Directory Integrated-Zone is preferred). All the DNS configuration should be replicated to the new DNS server with Active Directory Replication.
    13. Make all the clients change TCP/IP configuration to point to new server as DNS.
    14. You may configure TCP/IP on all the clients, or adjust DHCP scope settings to make them use the new DNS server.
    Please note: It is a good practice to make the old DC offline for several days and check whether everything works normally with the new server online. If so, you may let the old DC online and run DCPROMO to demote it.
    Hope it helps.

  • Windows Serve 2003 Paging Issue

    Hi All,
    We have one windows server 2003 enterprise edition with good CPU power & 24 GB of physical memory.
    Since last few days weeks. This server becomes non-responsive with large number of event id 50 & 51. We can't access this system when this happens & someone need to go & hard reboot the system.
    Assumes this is something related to memory leak from some application but didn't find the exact trace for that.
    Any way to narrow down  this trace.
    Thanks,

    Hi sandeshgawade87,
    Did you install the following Hotfix:
    Some data is corrupted when cached and noncached I/O operations occur by using the same NTFS file handle
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981166
    From the event ID, it also can caused by the hardware issue, please check your storage hardware related system.

    This is interesting.  Microsoft recently released KB2991509 to fix a serious performance problem in all versions of IE from 7 to 11 that was caused by a bad security update.
    While the original security update was released for Windows Server 2003, KB2991509 does not list a Server 2003 download.  I presume this is because Windows Server 2003 is in the "Extended" support phase and this is technically a performance issue.
    I think that's a poor interpretation of the support policy.  If you release a defective security update that cripples performance, you should release a fix to all operating systems that received the original defective security update regardless of what
    phase of support the product is in.
    "You break it, you bought it" rules should apply here.

    Hi,
    I understand your feeling about this issue, we will keep an eye on this hotfix and inform you if we got anything new about this.

  • HP Server g5 windows server 2003 LSI logic Raid 1 rebuild

    I am running a HP Server G5 with windows server 2003 we HAD 2 160GB hdd setup with RAID 1... one hard drive died, we replaced the hard drive with another 160GB HDD but cannot figure out how to merge the old data with the new hard drive and create a new RAID 1 setup. We are working with LSI Logic utility that we access during boot. Please Help thanks!

    Hi Andrey ,
    First , I would suggest you to keep the driver up-to-date for physical NIC .
    Then check if the integration service was installed .
    Allocate more Vcpu for that VM .
    If the issue persists please try to disable "offload" for that VM :

    Hi Elton!
    I have already installed
    the latest driver for NICs. From here:
    Broadcom
    The integration service was installed of course.
    I added one additional virtual processor per VM. 2012 R2 works better. In 2018 R2 the task manager
    freezes
    when copying. Load is 100%..
    Disabling"offload"
    does not help..
