Period end closing - Accrual Calculation

Hello SAP Gurus,
Can someone please explain me what happens when we run Allocations using Accrual Calculation  (T-Code KSA3)?
I tried to run this for a bunch of Cost Centers but summary screen always reads 'No Change - 1'. I am not sure what runs behind the scene and how to determine what is happening when the T-Code is carried out. I always run this T-Code by selecting Test run... is this the problem?
Thanks in Advance!
Nandita

hi Nandita,
<b>
Accruals and Deferrals</b>
-Post accruals/deferrals (SAP FI-TR + SAP FI)
<b>Liabilities and Owner’s Equity</b>
Accruals
Payables
-Payroll accounting (SAP HR)
-Valuate the foreign currency open items (SAP FI), see also Receivables
-Valuate the foreign currency G/L balances (SAP FI)
<b>
Accruals and Deferrals</b>
-Post accruals/deferrals (SAP FI)
Miscellaneous:
Additional Tasks (SAP FI)
-Post accruals/deferrals (SAP FI)
-Check whether the accrual/deferral documents have to be reversed
-Carry out recurring entries and update the batch input session (SAP FI)
-Reconcile cost of sales accounting/period accounting/profit center ledger (SAP FI/SAP FI-CO)
-Close the posting period (SAP FI)
-Run the reconciliation program (SAPF190)
This program checks the documents and transaction figures in the R/3 System. You can only execute this run if you do not intend to carry out any postings for the period, otherwise reconciliation differences will occur. You can schedule the job to run in the background.
Hope this will solve ur problem

    Hi
    http://www.sap-basis-abap.com/fico/sap-fi-month-end-and-year-end-activities.htm
First you will have to close the Posting period in the Materials Management side. To do this use the T.Code MMPV and give the period that needs to be Opened. Once this is done you will not be able to Post any Material Documents in the previous period.
Now at the Financial side you need to open the next period and at the same time you need to close the Previous period. This can be done in T.Code OB52

    Hi All Expert,
Pls. Provide me step of period end Closing. How we can execute previous year period (i.e 2010) in SAP business one.inform me with details.
    Thanks

    Hi Rashmi ,
    Period-End Closing Checklist are :
Period-end activities take place at the end of the month or the end of the quarter, or both, depending on how your financial accounting processes work. In either case, the checklist at the end of the period is much the same.
Make sure that all transactions for the period were posted properly, including adjustments and accruals
Print trial balance (a balance of each account and a current status)
Print vendor liabilities aging and customer receivables aging reports to reconcile receivable accounts with the G/L
Print inventory audit report to reconcile inventory with the G/L
    Print financial statements
Make a backup of your database and put it in an off-site storage location
Close or inactivate the fiscal period by locking it using the posting period window

  • Nested Kmat; Period-end closing

    Hello,
In PP we are using Nested Kmat in a Material variant (fert):
    Fert (material variant)
    ---Kmat as a bom sub-assembly)
    Kmat
    Halb...
and during variance calculation for a kmat sub-order in period end closing (KKS2) I'm getting an error message:
No suitable settlement rule found for object OR000100812538.  Message number KV206. (the explanation doesn't ring a bell for me??)
I think I know why I'm getting this error message for a configurable material (KMAT) because there are no standards cost
    What should I do?
Should I change the message from error to warning ?
Do I need to create a new PP order type with repetitive setting and product cost collectors???
What would be the better / good approach?
    Thanks!
    Luc

We're not working with sales order stock...  All sales orders are with FERTS that are MTS.
Kmats material are only used to reduce the amount of sub-assemblies created...
Variance calculation has to occurs for the top level (fert) but is there a way to exclude these kmat orders to enter in the run?
Otherwise i'm getting too many error message and analysis besome almost impossible..
    Regards!

  • Period end closing for production orders

    Dear all,
    what is period end closing???
Pl. enlist all period end activities for product costing by order scenario.
    what inventory adjustments are necessory.
what FI entries required to post??

With respect to PP- Period end closing is the procedure to close all the production orders and see that cost is flowing from production order to material
During period end - we TECO all the orders and see that production is complete from PP angle. Then costing will calculate over head/variance and settle the difference to production material or price difference a/c depending on the production material price control.
Just see below the example of a production and costing entries. Thi8s may be helpful to understand the concept.
    Planned price
    Planned Material cost = 115.15USD
Planned Activity cost = 6 USD
    Planned Over head = 25% of material cost+ 250% of activity cost = 28.79+15=43.79
    Total cost = 164.94
Product cost as per “S” price = 1 USD (example)
    After GR and confirmation
Actual Material cost = 7456.55 USD
    Actual Activity cost = 2USD
    Total cost = 7458.55
    Actual O/H  = 0
    Production variance = 7293.61 USD
    After o/h calculation
Actual Material cost = 7456.55 USD
    Actual Activity cost = 2USD
    Actual O/H = 25% of material cost+ 250% of activity cost = 1869.138
    Total cost = 9327.69
    Production variance = 9162.75
    After settlement
Actual Material cost = 7456.55 USD
    Actual Activity cost = 2USD
    Actual O/H = 25% of material cost+ 250% of activity cost = 1869.138
    Total cost = 9327.69
    Production variance = 0
Variance will be settled to Price difference a/c.
When we do the GR the FI a/c will hit as below
    Production order expense a/c -
    stock a/c +
When we GI the following a/c will hit
    Raw material a/c -
    Production order expense a/c +
    When we settle
Production order expense a/c + or -ve
    variance a/c = + or -ve
I hope this will help you.

  • How to automate FI period end closing?

    Hi,
Is there a way to automate FI period end closing?
Currently we have transaction recording for OB52, values are changed by macros in Excel and it run in batch input.
It works, but sometimes we have problem with it (eg mistake in Excel).
Is there a way to automate this procedure?
Our release is SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.70x200.
    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
With the help of ABAPer we have develop a Zprogram linked to a t.code. So at the start of the month we have schedule to run that t.code as a monthly job. the logic behind the programe is when run ar the start of the month it opens the posting period for the current month it has run & close the pervious month.
    Hope this helps.

  • Enhancement Request for Period End Closing

    Hi All,
When using Segmented Chart of Accounts, the Period End Closing procedure does not allow you to select different GLs from various companies.
The Trial Balance for example, does allow you to select the different GL sets by pressing Find in the Selection Criteria.
In cases where there is a different Retained Earnings accounts for each company on the same Chart of Accounts, you are forced to perform the Period End Closing on a single Retained Earnings account for ALL the companies.
Please can this be enhanced much like the Trial Balance.
    Kind Regards
    Tanveer

    Tanveer,
you could try use more than one retained earning account. But in the report, there is expanded button where you can choose the posting various date. I also suggest to post your message to the other forum within business one forum as suggested in the note but I am not sure it will be fulfilled quickly. Maybe in the 2 or 3 or even 5 years later who knows.
Submit a ticket to SAP support to know the work around.
    Rgds,

  • Material ledger period-end closing - material selection based period status

    Dear SAP Experts,
The OSS note 980475 describes functionality of excluding materials without inventory and postings from the period-end closing of the material ledger. The system assigns a new period status for materials without inventory and postings (05 "Period opened without inventory"). This period status is set by the dynamic period-closing program for the new period (instead of "Period opened") if the material does not have any inventory.
Could you clarify what is dynamic period-closing program for the new period?
In my system this note is implemented but still during costing closing materials are being selected even though no postings have been done on them in that period and no inventory exists.
Thankk you very much for advise.
    Best regards,
    Robert

Hi Robert, have you find out what this dynamic period closing is?is this just the option Check and close period in TCode MMPV? or is het one the CKMLCP steps?
    thanx in advance,
    Said Dahmaza.

  • Xl reporter shows different result before and after Period-End Closing.

    Hi SAP experts,
We have an issue with XL Reporter. When we ran Period-End closing and ran XL - PL Period & YTD (with the same parameters), XLR shows nil in the Actual YTD column and the monthly figures are out by a big difference (example pre-rollover it was $110K after rollover it shows negative $12M).
This happens on 2 different clients running 2 different SAP B1 (2007A PL 42 and 8.8 PL 13) on the same XL Reporter which is possibly the default XL report that comes with the installation.
I don't have any idea why the XLR is running 2 different figures altogether when running the same XLR using the same parameter before and after rolling the year over. The default SAP B1 P&L report stays the same before and after the rollover, I would have expect that the same would happen with the XLR.
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    Didy Arfiono

    Hi Julie,
Thanks for the reply. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by excluding a certain transaction for closing entries as this would defeat the whole purpose of PEC which as you stated was to transfer P&L balances to retained earnings account to be carried forward.
I've check at some guides including one from Orchestra Team (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4tUo774eXg) and so far the process that I've done is exactly what it is.
    Regards,
    Didy

  • Is it possible to undo or reverse the Period End Closing Utility

I have a client that ran the Period-End Closing Utility. Then a week later ran it again. Is it possible to undo or reverse the second mistaken operation of the Period-End Closing Utility?

    Hi,
It is not possible to Automatically Reverse the Period End Closing performed.
You can try the option of Manually cancelling every transaction involved in Period End Closing in the COPY of the database to check if it helps.

  • Improvement of Period-End Closing Utiltity

    Hello.
Currently I've been trying to test and review SAP 8.8 Preview version.
The reason I create this message is that I hope There will be some improvement of Period-End Closing functionality.
in the case of Account Segmentation, Financial Reporting of B1 allows us to select account segement easily. so this can help us to apply IFRS reporting.
however, We also need to include this funtionality for Period-End Closing.
It is very simple functionality but It is very important for ERP Market in South Korea. Because currently many local ERP Vendors enhanced their IFRS functionality. We are fighting with them desperately. SAP still doesn't give us any idea about this. That's why We have made some functionalities of IFRS using SAP B1 Account Segmentation and Add-on.
Regarding our Configuration, This Account Segmentation covers IFRS and Local GAAP.
This is the issue of SBO competitiveness applying IFRS transition period. the requirement of the functionality is very simple but this function gives me strong competitiveness in the ERP market.
Is there any chance to improve this funciton?
    Scenario
    1. Main Menu > Administration > Utilities > Period-End Closing
    2. Click Find.
    Curent Status
There's no way to select each account segmentation automatically. That is why I need to select each account segmentation manually.
    My Expectation
Hopefully SBO will help customers to select accounts by each account segment like financial reporting. Then SBO will satisfy Multi-GAAP and Multi Ledger (IFRS, Local GAAP) on the transition period.
    Thanks and regards,

    Hello Seung-Kyoo Lee,
could you please provide some more detail example of the issue you described. In particular I would like to understand what is meant by "...I need to select each account segmentation manually". My understanding is that account segmentation should be selected at the begining of the use of the database before any transaction is posted.
On the other side End Year Closing provides a possibility to select accounts however the segmentation should be already selected in the setup of the company. Do you mean something like the following example:
Setup of account segmentation: account code: segment1-segment2-segment3.
Then selection in the End Year Closing functionality is:
when segment2 is selected then all accounts with segment2 are selected regardless what is in segment3. Is it something like this?
