i keep getting the same errors when i repair my permissions. can any one help? here are what they are.
*Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources/OwnerGroupTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.*
*Warning: SUID file "usr/bin/lppasswd" has been modified and will not be repaired.*
*Group differs on "private/etc/cups", should be 0, group is 26.*
*Permissions differ on "private/var/spool/cups/cache/rss", should be drwxr-xr-x , they are drwxrwxr-x .*

This is commonly known: Mac OS X 10.5- Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions reports issues with SUID files.
There is nothing to be concerned about.

  • Permissions differ not being fixed...

    Hi Everyone,
I run "verify permissions" time to time and the permissions stated below always pops out even though i have run "repair permissions" several times on them. It appears again the next time i do the testing again. So it appears that they are not fixed. Does anyone have an answer for this and how to solve this issue?
    Thanks.

Does anyone have an answer for this
Apple changed the structure of some of its packages without updating the repair permissions mechanism.
    how to solve this issue?
Wait for Apple to release a patch and then install it. It can't be fixed by customers.

  • Permissions not being fixed

i tried to fix permissions on my macbook and it seemed to work fine, but five minutes later, i fixed permissions again "just to check" and i figured out that my permissions are not being fixed. What can i do?

If you recently installed the iPhoto and Front Row updates, then you are probably seeing messages that are innocuous and can be safely ignored. We all see the same thing. Hopefully this may be fixed in a future update.

  • Error -61 with FTP Write permissions error; Not a publisher

    Hi,
I am trying to use Safari to FTP with my schools server (FreeBSD) but when I try to delete something I get error -61 which is FTP Write permissions error; Not a publisher. When I select "Get Info" I see the permissions say "You can only read". How can I fix this?

    Hi Rob
so far as I know, Safari and/or Finder can only read from ftp sites - hence the response you are seeing.
I've used http://cyberduck.ch/ for a few years - there are many other free/sharewware ftp clients

  • Mapping errors not being captured in wb_rt_errors

    Hi All,
We use OWB mapping to load the data from stage tables to transactional tables. However, errors are not being captured in wb_rt_errors eventhough table loading is failing. We have no clue why it is failing. Please let us know if you have any idea why the errors are not being captured ?
We are capturing the audit id during the load erros. Using the below queries to validate the data.
    SELECT * FROM WB_RT_AUDIT  WHERE RTE_ID=15852682 ORDER BY CREATION_DATE DESC;
SELECT * FROM WB_RT_ERRORS WHERE RTE_IID=15852682; Thanks and Regards

I've had similar problems. I've found that the Flash CC file sometimes loses the reference to the document class file and that the source paths in the Actionscript settings are gone when re-opening a file. If I re-enter the document class (and paths) in the Actionscript Settings dialogue it will reconnect with Flash Builder.

  • Error not being helped

    HI
Since the beginning of November my btinternet email account will not let me send out group emails. I have been doing it for 5 years without problem. It's a group of around 100 people who have asked to be included on an in-house newsflash list. When I try to send my weekly updates to them I get an error message saying
554 Transaction failed : Cannot send message due to possible abuse; please visit http://postmaster.yahoo.com/abuse_smtp.html for more information
I have clicked this link and logged my complaint twenty times now without anyone even acknowledging receipt of it, let alone fixing it.
    all I ask is:
    that the problem gets sorted
that someone at btyahoo lives up to their 24 hour turnaround time promise
    help please

There's a limit to the number of recipients. I'm not sure what that limit is, but I've a feeling it's either 99 or 199 (or maybe 100/200 ?)
Is it possible (if the limit is 99/100) that the size of your distribution has recently crept above the magic number ?

  • Not lock code Error not yet fixed....

Hello every one......Sorry for posting same topic ....But I tried every thing ...even that
"Press and hold GREEN + RED + CAMERA when powering up. Keep the keys pressed until you get the shaking hands. That should fully reset the device, with a lock code of 12345."
And  hard reset worked...but it cant fix my lock code error.....every time when I boot my nokia 5800xm it wants some lock code...Then I put 12345 it gives error "CODE ERROR"   skips and menu comes up.....
I have newly updated Nokia 5800xm v20  dont know what to do.......
My 3 friends also got the same  problem....I think its a F.W problem....

If that reset doesn't solve it your only option at the moment is a nokia care point.

  • Phone not being fix untill a month from now

my phone/internet cut out, called verizon, they said that it will take them a month for some one to come and fix it.  i stated that i was a student online classes and need intrenet access.  Is there a place were i can file a complaint to the company ? can i contact the FCC? or my city gov. because verizon almost holds a monopoly over my city, this is the second time this has happen and i really cant change companies.

On 1 June my service was supposed be transferred. Technician came by. Turned on service. 2hours later no service. Called Verizon, got a run around. Tuesday 5:30p technician calls. "I'm on my way". 9pm still no show. 3 June 11am I am told a technician will TRY to come by my house on 4 June.
Got fed up and have told Verizon{please keep your posts courteous} . As much as I hate Comcast I will give them my business. They said they will have me hooked up with TV, Internet, Phone within 4hours.
    Verizon has a lost a very loyal and long long time customer. {please keep your posts courteous}

  • Lion Server postfix mail not being delivered to mailboxes. "SMTP restriction `reject_invalid_helo_hostname' after `permit' is ignored" and "connect to private/policy: Connection refused" errors.

All, Im stumped. In fact I have been on the phone with Apple Support and this has been escalated to the top engineers, as I think its got them too..
    Anyway, here is my problem..
I'm running an Mac Mini with OS X 10.7.4 Server. I have had mail running on it for 2 months or so, without any issues. The mail was actually migrated from 10.6 in March, and It actually went smoothly. I have 3 domains which all recieve mail and they all work (or did up until 2 weeks ago)..
So the story is this.. I can send mail from my domains, without issue.  imap and dovecot must be working.. cause all the stored mail, can be read with the mail IMAP client.. I can even transfer mail messages from one mailbox to another with Mail client. Sending mail is a breeze, it still works and the recipients still recieve their mail. But I noticed I wasnt getting any mail at all from those mailboxes... no mail, no spam, nothing.. which is unusal. I fired up Server admin and checked out the SMTP log, and this is what it showed for every email recieved: (xxxxxx is just me hiding sensitive info)

Ok, now what is odd, is these rejected messages are not even appearing in the mail queue in Server Admin. I have no idea why there are not being delivered
Ive checked my postfix main.cf file and master.cf files they both look ok.. Ive even replaced them with the main.cf.defualt.10.7 and master.cf.default.10.7 files and to no avail... same problem..
    So in summary
    I can send mail out
IMAP is working on the client end (thus dovecot is) exsisting stored emails can be accessed, read, moved unread etc..
mail is coming into the sever, but its being rejected. there is NO rejection email sent back to the sender.
mail is recieved by postfix, but cyrus isnt doing anything with it.. I have no idea where it goes...
Could anyone shed light on this...

    # TRUST AND RELAY CONTROL
    # The mynetworks parameter specifies the list of "trusted" SMTP
    # clients that have more privileges than "strangers".
    # In particular, "trusted" SMTP clients are allowed to relay mail
    # through Postfix.  See the smtpd_recipient_restrictions parameter
    # in postconf(5).
    # You can specify the list of "trusted" network addresses by hand
    # or you can let Postfix do it for you (which is the default).
    # By default (mynetworks_style = subnet), Postfix "trusts" SMTP
    # clients in the same IP subnetworks as the local machine.
    # On Linux, this does works correctly only with interfaces specified
    # with the "ifconfig" command.
    # Specify "mynetworks_style = class" when Postfix should "trust" SMTP
    # clients in the same IP class A/B/C networks as the local machine.
    # Don't do this with a dialup site - it would cause Postfix to "trust"
    # your entire provider's network.  Instead, specify an explicit
    # mynetworks list by hand, as described below.
    # Specify "mynetworks_style = host" when Postfix should "trust"
    # only the local machine.

    # The relay_domains parameter restricts what destinations this system will

    # - from "untrusted" clients to destinations that match $relay_domains or

Ok 1st one. The warning restriction message relates to this line in main.cf:
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated  permit_mynetworks  check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access  reject_non_fqdn_hostname  reject_invalid_hostname  permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
    However, that's not the problem.
I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions.  You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up.  Private/policy I think relates to grey listing.  Maybe gives you a hint.

I think this definitely is indicative of why I have been having trouble running my web host, as I always get the message 'cannot connect to localhost.' However, why did permissions repair not repair these permissions? It seems that it just essentially ran verify permissions instead.

I am trying to authorize my computer and I get an error message: The required directory was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed. Help?

I used Terminal to change the permissions on the folder in question.  I followed the instructions in this article:
iTunes: Missing folder or incorrect permissions may prevent authorization
In my case, the folder was there, so I needed the command to change permissions on the folder, not to create one.   I was hesitant to use Terminal b/c I know that if I made an error I could wipe out my hard drive or render my computer unusable.  So to be SURE I didn't make an error, I carefully copied the command from that page and *pasted* it into Terminal.  Also, before I could do anything in Terminal, I had to go change my admin password (it had been a blank password before and that's not acceptable for making changes in Terminal).  I was just super careful when entering my password or doing anything else while Terminal was open (making sure I didn't accidently hit the spacebar or another key, etc.)  And it fixed the problem right away.
What was confusing for me was that the iTunes error message said to change permissions in the FINDER, which is what I was trying to do.  It didn't mention Terminal.  What would really be helpful is if Apple included a link to a page like this in their error message.

  • IPod not being recognized by anything? This may be the FIX.

Have you seen this during install? (If not read anyway)
"usb mass storage device - an error occured during the installation of this device - the data is invalid"
You may or may not be aware of this problem. I will explain how to check and see.
Go to device manager (start menu, right click on my computer, Click manage. Goto device manager.(on Left) Look at the Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Bottom right(expand if needed)Do you see an ipod with a yellow mark next to it? If so follow the next step.
You need to search your computer for this file USBSTOR.SYS
(Go to Start menu - search - all files and folders)
When you find it, right click on it and click copy.
Then you will need to paste it to this location. c:\windows\driver cache\i386\
Go back to Device Manager, right click on the ipod (as mentioned above)and select update driver. Click next to install automatically. It should have installed the proper driver now. Plug in your iPod and see if that did it.
Please let me know if this worked for you.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -Rh $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Step 1 should give you usable permissions in your home folder. This step will restore special attributes set by OS X on some user folders to protect them from unintended deletion or renaming. You can skip this step if you don't consider that protection to be necessary, and if everything is working as expected after step 1.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

I can't play any purchased movies. Sounds like it is the 6.0 update. So what is the fix? Am I just stuck not being able to use my Apple TV until...?

Sorry I can't help but I have potentially a similar problem.
We have an Apple TV 3 and after the most recent software update (potentially coincidental timing), our purchased movies & TV shows will no longer play for our US account. We can play previews but that's it. We also tried renting a new movie but that didn't work either. No error messsage, just select play, it thinks about it, then returns you to the same screen again.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
