Perpetual online Video & browser crashes
Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro with 2 Ghz Intel duo core and 2 GB Ram. My unit continually crashes applications when I go online to Apple, Google, Myspace, and whenever I run Livestation Online TV. I have a sister that has an Aluminum PC G4 with 1 Ghz speed and 1.5 GB RAM, but she never has any problem staying online, or watching Livestation TV. Furthermore, the left side of the unit tends to run hot to the point of freezing up and making a loud humming sound. I downloaded SMC Fan Control earlier tonight. The unit seems to have cooled down considerably.
My question is whether anyone knows of a firmware update that I can install to increase the unit's Internet, or online video stability? Any interactive online video causes the application to crash. It does NOT crash on YouTube, nor when playine a DVD, but all other online video crashes and burns. For the record, I have all the most recent Mac updates already installed to no avail. I'm beginning to think that if a slower PPC can keep up with the Internet better than my newer faster Intel Duo Core, then this investment was a waste. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Absolve me for the delayed response, but I've been out of town. I have the most recent release. However, downloading the fan regulator seems to have helped. Thank you anyway for your help. Your feedback is much appreciated.

Mac/Browser crashes when viewing online videos (any browser)
Hi,
I've had this problem for a little while, and I'm not sure what exactly it is. Sometimes when I view a video online, whether it's Flash or Silverlight, Hulu or Netflix, the video will crash. Sometimes it's just the video, other times it's the browser, and other time it's my Mac. I've tried this on Chrome, Firefox and Safari, and it happens on all three. I thought it might be a video card issue, but I can play that are on a drive fine, and it doesn't happen when I'm editing video with Adobe Premiere.
Any suggestions?

Adobe Flash Player seems to wait until I am near the end of the Yahoo comics section before it crashes, but not always, sometimes it just seems to have a mind of its own and crashes indiscriminately.
As I am the person having this problem, I am at a loss as to what to say in Reply. I thought I was making progress just by noting that video watchers and gamers were having this problem. Then I thought that it might be worthy of note that it seemed to happen more often when I was reading the yahoo comics section, I happen to like the comics. So, I suppose that my question should be, Am I being discriminated against because I do not watch online videos, play games and happen to enjoy the comics?

Online video clips causes crash
why does my macbook pro crash when I open online videos with it unplugged? Works fine when it's plugged in.
Flash video is very CPU intensive, open activity monitor and look at your CPU usage while trying to watch a YouTube video, no doubt it is at 100%.
Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about this - my 400 Mhz G3 can't handle flash video and by the look of some previous posts on the forum I'd be surprised if any can . -
Flash Player crashes when watching online video on Win 7
Hi.
I have just built a new machine and it's got a pretty good spec but I've been having this problem since I installed windows 7.
I have tried 64-bit first and then 32-bit version but still had the same problem.
I can be watchingonline content such as a programme on BBC iplayer or 4OD ( or any other site you'd care to mention) and at some point the whole screen freezes and i'm left with no choice but to press the reset button.
I'm fairly confident that i've narrowed this problem down to flash player (but not 100% sure).
This will occur several time per day & is driving me nuts. Everything else about the machine works great but online videos are a nightmare.
Any suggestions anyone?
Your help will be much appreciated.
P.S.
Yes I do have the latest version flash player.Hi.
No, nothing works.
Just went in to event viewer and it's saying something about an atikmdag error.
Been googling and this seems to be linked to ati video cards.
also stuff about Kernel 41 error but from what i can figure out.. this is a very generalised error.
Maybe it's not flash? But why does it only happen during streaming?
Getting wound up with this.
Want to buy a new videocard to see if that would work but i can't afford to waste the money if its not the problem.
Why didn't i just buy a basic Dell? -
Online video issue with OS 2.0.0.7111
I have an issue with OS 2.0.0.7111. I can only view one online video (youtube, vimeo, etc...) successfully upon which if I try to view any other video my broswer crashes and becomes unresponsive. When I close the browser the icon is permanently greyed out and the only way to get it back is to do a hard reset. I've tried doing a security wipe, reverting back to OS 1.0 then reinstalling OS 2.0 and I still have the problem. I thought it was initially a flash problem but I enrolled in the html5 program for youtube and it still occured. I recorded a video of my issue so you can have a better idea of what happens.

Mini-DVI to VGA - online video freezes when dragged from MacBook to LCD TV
I connected my MacBook to my LCD TV this morning via Mini-DVI to VGA, and am trying to stream online video. The video works fine when the browser is on my MacBook screen, but when I drag it over to the LCD TV, the video freezes. I tried setting the screens to mirrored as well, and the video wouldn't play (on either). I'm not really sure what else to try. Any help would be appreciated!
Try this...
With the TV connected, go into Displays Preferences and click on the Arrangement tab. You should see two blue rectangles meant to represent the two screens. One of the rectangles will have a white bar across the top, meant to represent the menu bar. Drag the small white bar from one blue rectangle to the other. This will move the real menu bar to the TV, making it the primary display. Now see if your video will play on the TV. -
Every time I watch any online video mac mini has kernel panic
Everytime I have attempted to watch any online video, (World Cup, online seminars, Photoshop tutorials, even a couple of times on youtube) this mac mini just shuts down and forces a restart.
If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron

Adobe flash video constantly crashes when starting to play
The flash player crashes every time I try to play a flash video in browser (vk videos as well as dailymotion and as well as youtube). Flash games are okay, though... Kongregate.com at the very least... At the same time google Chrome does not crash and plays video okay.
There're no crash reports for these crashes in about:crashes.
I tried downgrading flash to 10.3. I tried to update real player. I turned off hardware acceleration. Nothing helps! The video just crashes at the very first moment of playback.
PS: it all started recently. In august. There were no problems in July.Same problem here. Every new Shockwave version has gotten worse. I'm beginning to wonder if there's compatibility issues with the other plug-ins and/or add-ons I use?
Is there a Mozilla or Firefox 'tool' that checks the compatibility of the plug-ins and add-ons? -
I recently upgraded to Flash 8 and now anytime I open a flash enabled page in any browser the browser crashes. This happens with Safari, IE, Firefox, and Opera.
Has anyone else had this problem? How can I uninstall Flash and perhaps go back to an earlier version?
This would happen during the World Cup when all the FIFA pages are Flash pages...
17" G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6) Wireless to a Lynksys wireless router.PhoenixRising,
When you type "about:plugins" into the address field in the browser, does it list the Flash plugin? And is it enabled?
As a side note, I went to the Fifa page and the audio, yet no video loaded when used under Safari, and nothing at all loaded under Camino 1.0.2.
I am not sure how much Yahoo supports Mac browsers.
Yet if its Flash it should play. -
Online videos (not youtube) cannot play on Nokia 8...
I have a Nokia 808 Pureview.
Online videos cannot be played on most sites.
Can someone help to solve the problem?I have the Nokia 700 with Belle, and it also refuse to show Flash video from other sources that YouTube. I have been in contact with Nokia support, and they claim that the Nokia Browser indeed supports flash, but anyway it does not.

I am not able to watch online video through WIFI on my blackberry curve 8900 phone. Web pages and Images are working fine.
-SandeepThanks very much.
Actually I am trying to play videos from m.youtube.com .
1) Google blog says you need a mobile phone that plays streaming videos (RTSP/3GP with H263/AMR). As per blackberry curve 8900 docs these all formats are supported but still I cant play videos. Even I tried other sites , none of online videos are working.
Any idea what can be the issue ?
2) Do I need 3G phone that? AT&T customer supports says you need 3G phone .I am not able to get them as I am using WIFI for browsing.

Why can't I watch online videos on youtube or FB without a ton of starts and stops. Iti's so annoying that I give up. Please help.
A Mac Pro is a tower machine. A MacBook Pro is a notebook. Which do you have?
How big is your hard drive, and how much free space does it have?
Are you using WEP encryption, no encryption, or WPA2 encryption on a wireless router, and is its firmware compatible with 10.6.8?
What is your internet speed you are quoted as paying for?
Have you installed the latest Adobe Flash for 10.6.8?
Are you using the latest web browser for 10.6.8? -

Online video playback is severally laggy/choppy on my macbook pro 2011?
hey guys, got a bit of an issue here. I've been noticing some SEVERE lagging issues whilst viewing online (streaming) video, from various sites, including, novamov, youtube, and others. the videos rarely stop to buffer as i have a fast connection, but yet they still seem to lag wildly. what i mean by this, is the sound will continue as normal, the the picture will freeze sometimes for a good 5 seconds or so before resuming, this is happening increasingly more and more..
i am running Mac OSX Lion (latest Update) on my:
MacBook Pro
17-inch, Early 2011
Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b)
If it helps my hard drive space is:
Macintosh HD
Capacity: 664 GB
Available: 179.79 GB
The browser i am using is the latest version of Safari, although i have tried firefox and chrome and i experience the same issue.
I have Sophos anti-virus installed and run regular scans on my system (all clear)
i really can't think of anything else which could be causing an issue here. I haven't installed any additional software for a while, not in the time frame since the error started to occur.
I am quite surprised to be experiencing such issues as lagging on something as simple as a youtube video when my £3000+ computer handles heavy applications such as Final cut pro and Photoshop with ease...
i MUST be missing something here,
I really would appreciate any help i can get here.
thankyou very much for your time
benHey Carolyn,
Worked a treat, de-jaggy video for first time in months!!! Only point of clarification, I manually deleted the Flash plug-in before I uninstalled Flash. Don't know if this was why it worked for me rather than others but hey ...
Thanks again!
Jody

Apr 26, 2012 5:07 PM (in response to bcusick)
Hi Ben...
I am quite surprised to be experiencing such issues as lagging on something as simple as a youtube video
Try troubleshooting the Flash plugin required for most YouTube video.
Quit all open browsers. I'm using Safari as a test.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Storage tab. Click: Delete All
Now uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Make sure and uninstall the current plugin first.
Then launch Safari. From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
Now try a video.
BTW... if you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to: Open in 32 bit mode is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.
