Personas - 1 Transaction, 2 Flavours and 2 Business Processes

Hi,
Any tips on how to handle this situation ...
We use a lot of notifications for different things, we are using them for our helpdesk system and now for something else... We also use the worklists for notifications and the various workflows.
So I have 2 flavours for a notification transaction IQS23, and 2 of the worklist and of the workflow inbox, how do I get Personas to know which flavour I want it to render based on which worklist or business process I'm coming at it from?
I have shortlinks created for all my transactions but that doesn't seem to matter since I'm coming at the transaction from a worklist or workflow inbox.
This must be possible...

This would require dynamic flavor switching once you entered the transaction, which is not yet provided in Personas.
Right now what you could do is to have a script that makes the decision which flavor is needed and then calls the appropriate shortlink, but the issue is that this will open a new tab or browser window.

Oil and Gas Business process overview

Compare and adjust business processes to a solution directory

Dear all,
I'm having truble with viewing changes that I have made in my maintenance project, using the compare and adjust function. Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
These are the steps I took:
1. I chose a solution using transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER.
2. I have made the solution settings, including creating a maintenance project, and enabling the check out/ check in & history functions.
3. Added business scenarios to the solution directory (some I chose from a project, and some I have created manualy).
4. Checked the Scenarios out to the maintenance project.
5. Made some changes in the maintenance project, including adding documents and transactions (transaction SOLAR01).
6. Changed my user-specific settings to comparison mode - "display changes made in original".
7. Checked the edited business scenarions back into the solution directory. I have checked, and the changes I've made in the maintenance project apeared now in the solution directory.
Now starts the trouble...:
8. I checked the scenarios out again from the solution directory to the maintenance project.
9. Went to transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, marked the maintenance project line, and did "compare and adjust" of a "new version of original" .
10. Went back to SOLAR01 and try to view the changes I have made in the maintenance project. I CAHNGES I'VE MADE ARE NOT MARKED...

Business Process Repository is sometimes confusing on transaction tab

I am Using SOLAR01. While creating scenarios and especially business processes by using BPR content, sometimes no transactions are listed in transactions TAB for a business process, but transactions are listed in business process steps. And in contrast sometimes the transactions are listed on Business process level and missing in Business process steps. This is confusing.
We are using SOLMAN 4.0 with ST-ICO-150 content.
An ECC6 system is assigned to project.
For example:
I choose as scenario 'Procurement and Logistics execution process for ERP' from standard BPR content.
System provides me a huge list of Business Processes.
I activate Business process 'Outbound process with WM' and goto Transactions tab. I see no transactions. But Process steps are included like 'Create Delivery' and on steps level there are transactions listed.
Same thing with most of the business processes in this standard BPR derived scenario.
Another example in contrast (for same BPR derived scenario):
I activate Business process 'Purchase Requisition with Service Directories' and goto Transactions tab. I see MANY transactions. Process steps are included like 'Release purchase requisition' and on steps level there are NO transactions listed.
In fact, the cases when transactions are available on Business process level have 'Execute' icon before the BP name in the structure tree on left-hand side area.
Can somebody explain me, why transactions from BPR content are assigned sometimes on BP level and sometimes on BP step level. In my opinion they should be on both levels. BP level should contain all transactions and BP step level only those transaction relevant for that step.

We are using the BPR content to develop process flows using ARIS for NetWeaver. Our experience is very similar to yours, to the extent that we hired an SAP consultant to help us map transactions back down to the process steps.
In the end, the value of the BPR is diminished if the transactions are not properly mapped to the process steps. We have found very few SAP experts who are even aware of the BPR (this includes actual SAP staff), but all are familiar with the transactions required to run the software. For an architect looking to have business processes designed with referenced objects the BPR is invaluable. How I long for the days of the ASAP R/3 reference model!

Business Process Engine Error and Adapor Monitor JPR error in PI 7.0 Server

Hello,
I have installed PI7.0 Server on windows server. When I use SXMB_IFR tcode I got RWB screen and RWB Business Process Engine is in red. though I have configured automatic workflow customizing through SWF_XI_CUSTOMIZING tcode. Still i am getting BPE is showing Red.
The Second Error :
Adaptor Monitor area also I am getting JPR is in Red .
Could some one please help me what to done on my PI server and how to fix?

Relation between business process and functional area during the role search

Hi Experts,
We have 2 functional areas in which we have different business process involved.
During the Access request, if the user selects one functional area then business process related to that functional area should come.
Is there any functionality in GRC, where the mapping between functional are and business process to be done?

Hi Sri,
there is relationship between 'Business process' and 'Sub-business' process as in configuration parameter you can setup that once business process is selected only relevant sub-process will be selected.
There is no such a relation between functional area and business process.

Business Process Blueprinting Tool (BPB) Publish Error - Solution Manager 7.1 SP10

The company where I work recently implemented the SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP10 and now we are trying to learn how to use the SAP Business Process Blueprinting (BPB) Tool to design all enterprise processes inside it.
I followed all the steps of the official BPB installation guide and from another BPB discussion (http://scn.sap.com/thread/3258935) but the tool is not working properly. Some relevant points are:
I can create and publish Business Scenarios but can’t do the same with Business Processes

LP_SMSY
This solved all my problems detected in the tool.

Queries on Business Process Monitoring (BPM) & Interface Monitoring

Dear all,
I have got a few queries on the subject and would greatly appreciate any valuable inputs.
Before I proceed, want to clarify that I have downloaded all overtly available documents (PDFs, SIMs) from the following URLs:

I may not have read them all though since I come from a Functional angle.
Kindly reply to whatever query you can please. Not all of them are sequential.
Queries:
(1) How are Interfaces with External Systems (beyond the firewall of the enterprise) monitored ?
(2) Is it really worth listing all such External Systems as Logical Components in their own right ? I guess this makes sense if at a Process Step level, one wants to list a 'specific' Logical Component involved instead of 'generic' term like External System. However, it would benefit only if Interface Monitoring is feasible; isn't it ?
(3) There are Interfaces which are built between SAP and External System and serve various Business Processes under various Business Scenarios. In such circumstances, it is not easy to list which Process 'owns' the Interface. Therefore, under a normal Implementation Project structure (SOLAR02), choosing a particular Process Step, getting into 'Development' Tab and listing the Interface Program name may not be feasible, since there is no particular place where it belongs.
Is it therefore a good idea to create namesake Scenario for capturing all interfaces and list a library of all interfaces and store documents right there ? If so, will these namesake processes be of any use in BPM at a later date ?
(4) If my primary objective is to accomplish Interface Monitoring and not Business Process Monitoring per se, is it a good idea to create a new Solution Landscape, and manually create Business Processes that are suited to list Interfaces than to assign Template or Implementation Project to the Solution Landscape, and inherit those Processes ?
(5) What is it that a SAP Competence (Support) Centre will find as a 'major' gain in activating BPM to monitor Interfaces alone - is there something that SolMan's BPM based Interface Monitoring gives more than what PI level reporting may provide them with ?
(6) In Interfaces with Non-SAP Systems (some of them are old/ proprietary legacy systems with Credit Card companies; some of them are like 'Active Directory' servers), is it possible to define Metrics for BPM that such systems will contribute to SolMan, for reporting purposes ? Or, is it too much to hope for

1) Its obvious, if your firewall blocks all your request to external enterprise, it is not possible to monitor.
3) These interfaces are not the one related to development tab in SOLAR02, you have to map them from BPM.
4) Yes, you don't have to depend on any project for your processes, you can add it in your Solution Landscape.

Roles for Business Process Monitoring

Hi Expert,
I'm working with sap solution manager and Business Process Monitoring.
It works fine but I need to create particular roles for my users.
I have created one solution with 2 business scenarios (scenario 1, scenario 2) and 10 Business Processes for each scenario.
I would know if exist a role in order to allow user 1 to see only BP in scenario 1 and allow user 2 to see only BP in scenario 2.
I saw roles: SAP_OP_DSWP_BPM and SAP_SMWORK_BPM but I didn't find any suitable authorization object to use.

Hi Giovanni,
the answer is unfortunately no. There is no authorization object available that limits the visibility of business processes. You could only split by solution, so creating two solutions each containing 10 business processes.
In general you can find information about roles and authorizations in SAP note 834534. There are several MS Excel files attached to this note.

Business process management on SAP HCP

Hello Experts,
If we think of implementing a solution which is completed based on SAP HCP, having a BPM designtime/runtime environment is a must have requirment. So far, I haven't been able to find any standard tool that SAP HCP offers to design and run business processes on HANA Clound.PLease correct me if I am wrong?
What are the other options (prefcerablly free) that one can explore,
I can think of below approaches:
A. We wait for SAP to release a new BPM tool for HCP.
B. We develop our own BPM package having our own tables and APIs.
C. We make use of custom third party packages that can integrate with HCP:
C.1 A third part custom package that can get installed within HCP
C.2 A third part remote BPM solution that can connects to HCP based apps using o-data/webservices technologies.
If you guys have tried any approach, would you be able to share your experience?

Establishing current business process baseline in Solution Manager

Hello Guru,
We had implemented ECC 5.0 a year ago.
We had used business blueprint SOLAR01, SOLAR02, to document some of the business processes. We found ourself currently have an incompleted business process blueprint.
We want to use Solution Manager to manage the ECC 6.0 upgrade, how do we establish the current business process baseline?
Is there a tool that will browse through ECC 5.0, and create business process map of what the current business processes that have been implemented, and the configuration objects that have been customized?

Hi Anny,
I am afraid there isn't a tool that can help retrospectively build SOLAR01 or SOLAR02 related structure and contents.
The only three possible areas for exploration I can suggest for you to investigate further, are:
(1) Use of Reverse Business Engineer (RBE)
(2) Use of SAP TAO to at least build Testing scope retrospectively
(3) Seek any views from IDS-Scheer on whether they have any plug ins for ARIS that can do a retrospective process mapping

What is Business Process Re-engineering (BPR)?
Business Process Re-engineering simply implies eliminating tasks that does not add value to a business process while reorganization the value adding tasks. It can also be perceived as a restructuring of redundant dependent tasks or work order. It involves a re-thinking and consequently a re-moulding. In appreciating this concept, it is expedient to view a process as a "chain of tasks". The truth is that in a typical business process, you can have some redundant tasks that if not present does not really have any impact. Such tasks can be eliminated thus streamlining business process.
During ERP implementation, before a business process can be re-engineered, excellent understanding of the defective process is key. This is why it is important to first carry out a critical and objective business process definition and analysis before system design. At this juncture, it is important to state that when restructuring a business process, adherence to best practices is encouraged. This allows the client to be able to leverage the redefined business process externally and not only internally.
For business process reengineering to be successful and consequently, ERP implementation, the buy-in of the end users must be achieved. Often times, I've heard people say "this is how we have been doing it and we like it that way". It is important to convince the process owners why a re-engineering is needed. And the only way to do this is to make the user uncomfortable with his hitherto work methodology. As a matter of fact, setting up of an in-house restructuring team will help to foster users conviction within the organization. The members of the team should cut across all process owners.
Conclusively, the benefits of BPR are enormous. They include the following, but not limited to
1. Business process is streamlined.
2. Business process is optimized and more efficient.
3. Strict controls can be enforced and monitored.
4. Best practices can be adhered to.
5. Time and cost saving as a result of eliminated redundant tasks.

Business Process Role Design

Hi all,
I am infant in SAP world. I am looking for best practices or templates in order to define and document business process roles. Our strategy is to create roles by function. Look at the company organization chart and the various functions and accordingly roles. I am in charge of doing the functional documentation. I wanted to know if anyone has experience in document business function role design or a template that they can share.

It is better to classify for better understanding and to assign priority.

B.Carrying out the task
Having realized the significance of designing the Role some of points to be kept in view are as follows:

A template may contain the following heads:
- Role title/Designation/Position name
- Summary of responsibilities
- Equipment/Budget level/People/Places for which responsible
- Activities in the Role
- Out put of the Role's function
- Internal/external customers

To design business process roles, one must know the processes in greater detail collected by reading, visiting,discussing, interviewing concerned people.

Details may be collected by asking simple questions and eliciting simple answers. The answers may relate to Planning, Doing, Checking.
High order terms must be avoided at this stage.

When the out come of one level activities is described in higher level abstraction, it becomes the responsibility of the higher level.This way, role description in one level after another is built up.

The out put of one Role must be input for another role.One must be conscious of this while describing a role.This is helpful to the business.
