Phone after restart asking for unlock pattern which I have not set and no other option is given

Hi all, my Z3 Compact phone was heating up a lot in the recent summer days. At some point it was not reacting and not booting. So I pressed the yellow OFF button next to the nano card SIM holder.http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/xperiaz3compact/userguide/Resetting-your-device/ After this, the phone restarted and it is asking me for an unlock pattern, which I had never set before.It is not offering me any other option like Google identification or security question. And after 5 wrong attempts it tells me to wait 30 sec. I can see that the phone is working, I receive calls and can see that messages arrive. But I can't unlock the phone!! I tried a hard reset using PC companion but it complains and says that I need to have the screen unlocked to continue! So also no solution there! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, regarding repair with PC Companion, follow steps this way
Update / Repair your phone via PC Companion
Download PC Companion and install it. Do not connect your phone until you're asked to do so.
Launch PC Companion > Start Support zone > Start Phone/ Tablet Software update > select Repair my Phone / Tablet > Follow the on-screen instructions it shows.

It needs the restrictions passcode. You or someone with physical access to the phone had to set it. It can not set itself.

Apps can only be updated using the same Apple ID and password they were originally purchased with.

Whether you set the passcode or not, if the iPad insists that you enter the passcode, you will have to restore your iPad if it is disabled now.

You can edit or delete your rescue email address at My Apple ID. To edit your rescue email address:
Navigate to My Apple ID using your web browser.
Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
Note: The option to send an email to reset your security questions and answers will not be available if a rescue email address is not provided. You will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to do so.
