Phone photos not automatically uploading to my pc

First let me say that photos taken on my and my wife's iPhone 4 have been automatically uploading to my Windows 7 PC for a couple of years.  I depend on the function to get all of our photos off the phones and into our family album.
Just a few days ago I noticed that no new photos were appearing in the My Picture/My Photostream folder.  After looking around some and finding nothing that seemed out of order I thought it might be related to the only change that I'm aware of and that's the recent iOS7 updates.
Using the procedure/sequence outlined on Apple's support page I removed all of the apply software, including iCloud, rebooted and then reinstalled everything.  During the installation I changed the new folder default to point to the old Photo Stream folder that it had previously been using.  Still, no photos, old or new, would upload.  They were showing up in the Photo Stream album on the iPhone, just not uploading to the PC.
I saw a post that said they had what sounded like the same problem and they fixed it by removing/reinstalling iCloud and accepting the default folders.  I did that and it created a new folder called My Pictures/iCloud with a My Photo Stream sub-folder along with the shared photo streams that we use in our family.  It also created a system folder that shows up in My Computer called iCloud Photos that has thumbnails for My Photo Stream, Activity (a folder that I never created) and the shared family folder Family.  The thumbnail for My Photo Stream shows a couple of pictures that were a couple of the ones that last uploaded.  However, when I open the folder it has nothing in it.  When I click on either Activity or Family it appears to freeze but after a minute or so it will show boxes with a small x in the upper left corner.  Down the right hand side are vertically stacked picture thumbnails for the pictures that I "Liked" on my iPhone.  When I click on Info I see that I was invited to share the folder follwed by another line showing that I have subscribed to the folder.
The control panel iCloud app looks fine -- like I think it always has.
I'm at a complete loss.  I really want the automatic upload to work again but I don't have a clue what to try next.
I've seen a lot of posts from folks having problems with this since upgrading to iOS7 but I haven't seen any "aha" revelations and/or solutions.
Anybody know how I can get this puppy working again?
Thanks in advance,
Howard

Darn, that didn't fix it for long.
I can’t tell you how to solve your iCloud 3.x issues.  Heck, I don’t think they’re even solvable.
But if you had a previous version of iCloud that was working correctly then I can definitely tell you how to solve the “iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing correctly to my Windows 7 PC” problem.  …without even a re-boot.
Log out of iCloud 3.0 and uninstall it.
Open My Computer and then open your C:\ drive.  Go to Tools/Folder Options and click on the View tab.  Select the “Show hidden…” radio button and click on OK.
Open the Users folder.
Open your user folder
Open ProgramData (previously hidden folder)
Open the Apple folder – not the Apple Computer folder.
Open the Installer Cache folder
In Details view sort on Name
Open the folder for the newest entry for iCloud Control Panel 2.x – probably 2.1.2.8 dated 4/25/2013
Right click on iCloud64.msi and select Install.
When finished, the synching between iCloud and your PC will be back to working perfectly as before the 3.0 fiasco.  The pictures will be synched to the same Photostream folder as before the “upgrade”.  Now all you need to do is wait until Apple/Microsoft get this thing fixed and working before you try the 3.x upgrade again.
I think the iCloud 3.0 software was written by the same folks who wrote healthcare.gov with the main difference being that healthcare.gov might eventually be made to work.
For those of you who hate to go backwards, think of it as attacking to the rear.  Which would you rather have, the frustration of no synching or everything working on an older version?
Good luck…

  • 1520 reframed photos not automatically uploading.

I just got a 1520 and was previously using the 1020.  Obviously the camera is a bit different.  But with the 1520 if I take a picture it is automatically backed up to OneDrive (per my settings - which are for highest quality backup over wifi).  That works fine.   But if I then select that picture and zoom in/reframe it and save it, the modified photo is not automatically backed up.  I either have to share it or pull it manually via USB connection to my PC.
Is this by design?  Or am I doing something wrong?
Also the reframed picture is of much lower resolution  (file size original:  5MB; reframed 400K).  Is that also by design on the 1520?
    Thanks.

Hi, classicrokr. We tried this on our end.
Pictures taken from the Nokia Lumia 1520 are automatically backed up to OneDrive with the same settings. After re-framing the pictures and saving them, they are also automatically uploaded/backed up to OneDrive.
Original pictures and the reframed ones have almost the same size and quality. However, the quality and size may depend on the capture mode that you have selected.

  • HT201060 Is there a way to be selective about which photos are automatically uploaded to the Family Sharing photo album?

Family Sharing is set up, and "My Photo Stream" and "iCloud Photo Sharing" features are enabled on all devices.  However, I would like to limit which photos are shared in the Family Sharing photo album.  Here are two scenarios:
I'm shopping for a gift for my daughter at the store, and I see the item I think she'll like.  In Messages I want to snap a photo to send to my wife to get her buy-in (authorization), but when I do this, the photo is also automatically uploaded to the Family Sharing album, and my daughter can see it on her iPod Touch until I delete it from iCloud.
On her iPod Touch, my daughter browses images of kittens and cats, cats and kittens (she's 10), and saves many of them to her camera roll to view later.  In turn, our Family Sharing photo album is full of random pictures of kittens.
Perhaps all I need to do is turn off "My Photo Stream", to prevent all photos being uploaded to all devices automatically?  And in the event I want to share a photo or an event/moment, I can create a Photo Stream on the spot...?

Probably the best solution is to put your daughter on her own iCloud ID (but under your name since she's under-aged).  She can continue to use your ID for iTunes store purchases. If you set her up with a separate iCloud ID, then her photo activity and yours will remain separate.
The Family Sharing feature may not be relevant or helpful in this scenario -- as I understand it, Family Sharing is for the sharing of purchases, not iCloud, and only in situations when family members have separate IDs for purchases but want to also share the purchases from a "central ID" (e.g. Parent's ID)

  • Why do my phone's photos not get uploaded to icloud drive automatically?

For e.g when i used windows phone, the moment i took a photo it used to get uploaded to skydrive and i could see it on my PC.
Apple doesn't have a similar service?

    Hello nealfromshanghai,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
This feature is called Photo Stream on your iOS device, as well as with the iCloud Control Panel on a Windows PC.  To learn more about this feature please read the article linked to below.

  • TS3989 New photos I take are not automatically uploaded to photo stream

    What happens?
I have turned on my Wi-fi, leave the Camera app
    But still
the new photos are only in my album, not the photo stream
    so ..
iCloud means nothing to me cos my other devices and laptop cannot receive the copies.
    Anyone helps?
    Many thanks!

    Check the following:
From your Home screen, tap Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream, and make sure the slider is set to the ON position.  If grayed out, check Restrictions in Settings>General.
From the Home screen, tap Settings > Wi-Fi, make sure the slider is set to ON, and that your device is connected to a wireless network.
Ensure that Camera app is closed on the device where you took the photo. Photo Stream will not upload photos from an iOS device until the Camera app is closed.
Ensure your iOS device has not fallen below 20% battery power. To preserve battery life, Photo Stream downloading and uploading are disabled when the battery reaches this threshold. Downloading and uploading will resume once you charge your device, and the battery charge is greater than 20%.
Note that when photo stream is turned on, only pictures taken from that point on will go to the stream, not existing photos.  For those, sync them to a computer using itunes and USB cable.

  • HT201317 Photos that I manually transfer to my photostream upload folder are not automatically uploading to My Photostream.  I am a PC user.  Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Create main folder e.g. Folder A, then sub-folders inside A e.g. B, C, D and have your Photos in B, C, D.
In iTunes Sync, click your device on the left Pane, then on right pane select "Photo" tab.
Make sure Sync photo box is checked, then select folder A, then All folders box within the selection.
Click Apply or Sync button at the lower right window.
you will have B,C,D folders under Albums.

  • Hello. My iphone was recently stolen. My laptop operates XP. I have seen that my icloud account has used about 4Gb of memory so assume that my photos have automatically uploaded to icloud. Is there anyway I can download the photos to my laptop?

    Hello
My iphone was recently stolen. I am hoping, by virtue of icloud memory used which I have viewed on a friend's Apple PC that my family photos are still on icloud. I assume that there is a chance my photos were uploaded automatically to icloud. My own laptop is XP only so I cannot access Photostream from my laptop.
Is there any way i can access icloud photostream and download all my family photos to my laptop?
    Please help.
    Nigel

Not with Windows XP, you need Windows 7 or 8, or a Mac.

  • HT4236 ipad photos not automatically syncing

my ipad wont sync the photos from my ipad to pc when i sync
it'll take photos from pc if i tick the files
so i have photos on my ipad that havent been backed up

You can do it, and it's not done via iTunes. If there are those types of photo on the iPad then your computer should see it as a 'camera' (and it should also appear in Windows Explorer) - there is help/instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

  • Sample book does not automatically upload

I have loaded current iTunes s/w and checked appropriate boxes to enable auto uploading of a sample book to my iPad.  Sample does not appear on my bookshelf on iPad.

    Hi sashton,
When troubleshooting Wi-Fi connectivity issues, I find the following resource has the most relevant information:
Troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues in OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4628
Furthermore, you may want to avoid giving your network a common name. While the following article (and excerpt) refer to iOS devices, the same applies for your Mac:
Avoid giving your wireless network a common name (SSID)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4450
If you were to give your wireless network a common name (SSID), users of your network who use iOS devices [sic] and are away from your network would run the risk of joining a different network with the same name. Having joined the unexpected network, they would be exposed to potential data theft.
Because of this security issue, Apple maintains a list of common or ambiguous SSIDs, including the default SSID for many commercially available access points, as well as the SSIDs "wireless" and "default". If your network's name is on the list, any iOS device [sic] that joins the network stores the access point's BSSID and associates it with the network's SSID. Subsequently, it will only auto-join the network if the access point's BSSID matches the information the device has stored. This avoids joining a different network with the same name.
Therefore, you may want to refer to the following article when configuring your Wi-Fi router:
iOS and OS X: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

  • When connecting I-phone 4 to I-photo, my most recent photos do not automatically show-up in I-photo to be downloaded.  What happened?

When I connect I-phone 4 to MacBook Pro  and bring up I-Photo, my newest photos taken with the I-Phone do not automatically appear.  This is something new that just started happening in the last 2 days.  Usually, everything is transferred and then I download pictures into I-Photo.  Any advice on what happened and what I need to do to get pictures off of I-Phone into I-Photo?

Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Connect your iPhone  and check to see if the same problem persists.

  • HT201317 Photo stream not automatically sending to my PC.

Photo stream is not automatically uploading to our PC. Did check to make sure photo stream is checked on. Have been able to use this within the past few weeks and now it won't work.

On your iPhone, tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Photos off then back on.
Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync the data.

  • IPhone 6 photos not backing up to iCloud

My iPhone 6 photos are no longer backing up to my Photo Stream folder in iCloud. I have all the settings on my phone set correctly:
iCloud photo library (beta) is on so photos are automatically stored in iCloud.
Upload to my Photo Stream is on so new photos are automatically uploaded to iCloud
On my computer (windows 7), all iCloud settings are correct as well. Photos is checked off so photos back up.
Weird thing is, my shared folders are backing up.... It's just my My Photo Stream folder that is not backing up...
    What to do?

    Hello Lana Alana,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you are using the iCloud Photo Library beta, then your items are automatically being stored and uploaded to iCloud.  Take a look at the information outlined below to learn more.
Can I use iCloud Photo Library to back up my Photo Library instead of iCloud Backup or iTunes?
Yes. If you turn on iCloud Photo Library, it will automatically upload and store all of your photos and videos from any of your devices that are using iCloud Photo Library. iCloud Photo Library won't be part of the iCloud Backup, because it's already storing all your photos and videos in iCloud.

  • My iphone 4s wont switch on or reset. i spoke to apple earier and they will replace the phone under warranty. i didnt back up my phone on itunes or icloud. as the phone will not switch on i am unable to do this now. any ideas how i can get these off?

My iphone 4s will not switch on. Supposidly it has been "charging" all day and stll it does not have enough life to switch on. Rang Apple this morning and they will replace the phone under warrenty free of charge. Only problem is with this being my first Apple product i didnt realise my phone did not automatically back up on itunes or icloud as i had to set this up.
Now i am trying desperately to get my phone to switch on so that i can save all of the baby pictures of my 7 month old son and its not working. i have tried to reset the phone but it does nothing!!
Can anyone PLEASE help as i am very upset and do not want to lose these precious memories?

You cannot get Applecare plus now.
It is unlikely that they will replace as it is damaged.  The only way to find out is to make an appointment at the genius and and see what they say.

  • Since installing the latest Itunes my phone does not auto sync as before, how can I set this up?

Since i updated to the newest ITunes my phone does not automatically sync as it did before. I am not able to locate my pictures or music or apps to set to auto sync. I receive no message that tells when the phone was last backed up to ICloud. I have several songs on ITunes under ICloud that are in the waiting status. This is all confusing. I have clicked on every available option.
    Thank you

I'm afraid at this point a backup can't be created anymore and the phone has been damaged too much by the water.
You'll have to get it replaced and use the latest existing backup you have.

  • TS1398 my iphone 5 will not automatically connect to known wifi

I downloaded and installed the latest software for the iPhone 5 (Version 6.1.3) - the version originally installed was 6.1.2.  Same problem exists - iPhone will not automatically connect to my home WiFi.  Even after I select my network and it connects.  If I turn WiFi off and then back on again, it will not automatically connect.  The iPhone screen states "Known networks will be joined automatically.  If no known networks are available, you will have to manually select a network."  How do I get the iPhone to work as specified above?  Thanks.
