Phone taking ages to charge

My phone gets VERY hot when itscharging or not. Recently my phone takes a very very long time to charge. I used to be able to use it while it charges and it would charge just as fast while I'm using it. Now, when I use it while its charging the battery doesn't move. Just today, my phone was very close to finishing charging, so I went away for a while for it to complete; but when i came back, my battery had fallen despite the fact I had turned it off to speed up the process.
Is this problem due to the over-heating or is there another problem?

Hello,
There are many many possible causes...and, from what you've told us, the only things I can think of are to give you different tests to run to see if you can narrow down the cause. If we were not at an internet-distance, it would of course be simpler...but, well, we are...
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
If that does not return things to normal, then I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

  • My iPad air is taking FOREVER to charge?

My iPad was charging perfectly about two days ago and then all of a sudden it started taking AGES to charge. At first I thought it wasn't charging at all, then I realized that it was just taking SO long. The little charging symbol does not show up on the top of the screen but if I put it off, it does turn back on when I plug it in. I've tried restarting my iPad, changing chargers, airplane mode while charging, and pretty much anything else I could find on the internet. Last night I left it OFF while it was charging so it would charge faster, it went from 3% to 30%. So obviously it DOES charge but it took 9 HOURS for it to egg up 27%. This is getting really annoying and I've been needing it for school. I've also been I able to update it because the charge is too low. Any reason why or quick fixes?!

Here are a few things that may interfere with charging.
    1. Bad charger. Are you using the original Apple charger that came with the device? Try a different Apple charger.
    2. Bad cable. Try a different cable and be sure it is an Apple or certified name brand cable.
    3. Dirt, fuzz, or lint in the connection port. Check and carefully clean with a wooden toothpick if necessary.
    4. Software glitch. Reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
    5. Hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • Hi, My I-phone taking too much time to get charge

Hi, My I-phone taking too much time to get charge... I am charging through computer. It does not show whether its charging or not. Morning it was 40% , till now it 60 % after that it never moved...I have switched off my mobile and charging but percentage has moved to only 60%... I am charging from morning 9:00...its 1:30 still 60%....Please help

If you have the original battery in your iPhone 3G, it may have reached the end of it's useful life. You can contact Apple about a replacement battery. It may also be that the USB port on your computer doesn't put out enough power. Try charging the phone from a wall outlet.

  • Phone doesn't recognize charger?

I have a Droid Incredible by HTC and after it turned a year old and the warranty expired it started not taking a charge.  I've looked at other posts, but my problem is slightly different.  When I plug my charger into my phone, the phone may or may not recognize it.  If the phone does recognize it, I'll leave it alone and let it sit plugged in with ABSOLUTELY no movement and all of a sudden it will tell me I need to plug the charger in.  If it doesn't recognize the charger I'll either wiggle it or plug and unplug the charger and eventually it will recognize it.  I don't believe it's the battery because if I am able to get the phone to recognize the charger it will charge fine, it seems to be the connection inside the phone.  Anyone have similar problems, and/or solutions?

You might try calling HTC an see if they can fix the issue or if they could send you a replacement D.inc. mine has'nt went over that Hurdle yet but with it being over a year old as well it's kind of raising those back Hairs   B33....I found my Colors Yeaaa!

  • My iphone wont let me recieve yahoo mail, tried switching off phone, taking account off and on cant get server button to move says on but is pale so cant move on or off!!!!

iphone wont let me recieve yahoo mail, tried switching off phone, taking account off and on. did a restore on my phone the yahoo server says on but it is pale so you cant switch off or on.  my phone will recieve bt mail and internet not affected.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Hello there stidhambr15,
I was researching the issue you are having and recommend a couple of things. First it might be a good idea to reset the device following iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't quite get the device going again, I recommend restoring the device.
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software

Might even be a good idea to turn off the phone, reseat the SIM card, and turn it back on.

  • Palm Pre crazy symptoms: "phone offline", will not charge battery, will not start, error message "an error has occured that cannot be resolved"

This is a long description of a series of problems with my new Palm Pre. You may wish to search the text to find your specific issue(s). There is no solution in my post. Look for possible answers in the responses to come.
I bought my Palm Pre 4 days ago and it arrived 2 days ago. Phone worked great. Last night I plugged in the phone and updated the OS. After completion, I selected "Done" and went to bed.
    - First Series of Issues: "Phone Offline", will not charge battery -
In upper lefthand corner of the phone there is the message "phone offline". Although the phone has been charging all night it reads "26% battery". I called the general Sprint tech support number and we tried the following things:
    1) Restart phone (press and hold power button, then select "turn off". after power down, press and hold power button to power on.)
    2) Reset the phone (several different ways - call tech support so that you do this correctly)
The individual at Sprint then sent me to another tech support person, presumably 2nd tier.
    - Second Series of Issues: Error message "an error has occured that cannot be resolved" -
Sprint tech support person #2 also had me restart and reset the phone in a number of ways. In her words "we've tried every palm pre trick I know" and each time the phone was unresponsive. Often we received the error message "phone is offline". We did a full erase and after that the phone would no longer restart. At this point the error message came up saying "an error has occured that cannot be resolved" which referred me to www.palm.com for assistance. I think it's important to note here that this was not the typical error message (black screen with white letters) but rather the blue sky background with a semitransparent box over it with white text.
Sprint tech support person #2 then connected me with Palm support and the dance continued. Again we tried a whole bunch of resetting and restarting and erasing options. Palm support instructed me to go to: www.palm.com/rom to download WebOS Doctor, which I did. I downloaded the file. While that was happening he had me hold the "volume up" button and plug the phone into the charger. This caused a USB symbol to appear on the phone. When the file was complete I received an error message that the file couldn't run. Palm tech support person seemed surprised. I mentioned that I was on a Mac and he said he couldn't help me. He then transferred me to another Palm support person who works with Mac users.
Palms tech support person #2 then informed me that I should have selected the "mac" download option on www.palm.com/rom. I verbally walked her through the whole series of webpages, telling her that it says that you need Windows (version whatever) or Mac (version whatever) but that at no time was there an option to download a different WebOS Doctor for different operating systems. After some more discussion she told me she would have to have someone call me back tomorrow.
    - Third Series of Issues: phone stuck on USB symbol -
So at the moment the phone is completely useless. Not fantastic. I booted up the mac in Windows 7 and downloaded WebOS Doc and received the same error. I also ran Windows Vista virtually and received the same error. Later this afternoon I'm heading into work to try the same thing on Windows XP.
In the meantime, I got onto this forum and located a thread that provided a direct link to the necessary file:
    palm.cdnetworks.net/staging/rom/webosdoctorp100ewwsprint.jar
After downloading that file, which I realized could totally be a virus, I was able to get WebOS Doc working on my computer. It required that I recharge the phone completely before beginning and now it's on the screen that says "Don't disconnect your phone" and the file is at 3% complete. Only... it's been at 3% complete for almost 30 minutes.
I am hoping that Palm will follow up with me tomorrow, but I'm leaving at 7am on a business trip and would love to have the thing working. Any suggestions are welcome, even if you can just tell me how to get the think disconnected safely before my flight tomorrow. I don't fancy getting through security with my phone wired to my laptop.
    Thanks.

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
Our phone support is open every day Monday through Sunday, although there are different hours of operation for the weekend. If after a webOS Doctor reset you are still experiencing the same problems, I would likely recommend replacement, either in a local store for your carrier or through our technical support department.
There may be additional technical support offered or suggested over the phone, this would need to be done first before a replacement could be issued.
    Hope this helps,

  • Wine is taking ages to load

Wine is taking ages to load in my machine. When i run winecfg, for exemple, it takes about 10min to show me a window.
    $ winecfg
    wine: creating configuration directory '~/.wine'...
Failed to open the service control manager.
-> hangs here for about 10min
I already enabled (and disabled) the DRI module in xorg.conf, but it didint helped anything. Delete the .wine folder is not the solution either because im having this problem since i instaled wine (but i erased the folder, anyway).
    $ wine --version
    wine-0.9.30
    So ... any tips?

I have the same problem as you. I installed wine through pacman and when I do 'winecfg' , I have to wait a really long time until it loads. I don't understand why this is so. In all of the other linux distributions that I tried, wine started up quite fast (gentoo, ubuntu, zenwalk, fedora core, etc) Could someone please tell us why it takes a long time for wine to open. Thank you.
    My WINE version is wine-0.9.33
PS: I am not sure if this would be the cause, although I don't know why it would do anything but, I am running the 32 bit Arch Linux on a 64 bit machine, and this is because I need to use wine for a certain something that I have to do for my school, so I don't want to use Arch64. I know that it is possible to get wine to work in 64 bit Arch, but I have no clue how to update the package along with the rest of the system, and I can't seem to get a chroot environment to work.

It might be because I haven't backed it up in a while but the reason I haven't is cause it takes this long! Anyone know what to do?
Meg x <This is how I feel. (Confused and really upset)

You can redownload most itunes purchase by the following. What you can redownload depends upon where you are located.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Is there a way to retrieve notes from notepad if the phone powered off lost charge) before I hit the done button?

Is there a way to retrieve notes from notepad if the phone powered off lost charge) before I hit the done button?

If the phone doesn't power on and isn't seen by the computer then you wouldn't be able to pull data off it with the USB connection to your computer.
You could pursue data recovery if the notes are very valuable, but the cost can be similar to having data recovered from a failed computer drive(possibly prohibitively expensive).

  • My phone takes ages to turn on and then when it does it is unresponsive. What do I do!?

I have been having trouble with my phone for ages now, I always look after it really well, it has had screen protectors and a case on it since the day I got it.
There is no damage to the phone at all, not a single scratch!
However, the phone now takes a good 10-15 minutes to turn on now, and each time it is getting longer. The Apple sign comes up for ages and then sometimes it goes to the screen with the cirular 'waiting' sign frozen on the screen. I often have to reset the phone (holding the home and on off button) 3 or 4 times before it will turn on.
When I have eventually got the phone to turn on it will be fine for about a day and then the apps stop working completely and nothing will open. I press on the apps, and they go slightly darker like they are meant to when you press them but nothing happens. I can slide through my screens left and right but nothing will open. This means I have to turn my phone off and start the whole process again. Also will not connect to itunes, it comes up with an error saying the phone is unresponsive.
I am getting really frustrated because I look after my phone so well, this shouldnt be happening! I do not know what to do and dont want to fork out a load of money to get it fixed! I have had the phone less than a year! Please will someone help me!

Restore from backup.  If the issue continues, restore as new.

I currently have a DROID RAZR M and I'm 1 year into my 2 year contract.  Since the Kitkat update, the phone won't stay charged and it's very buggy.  I know this is not Verizons fault but it's also not mine. I would like to change my phone to an iPhone 5s and keep my same plan but switch to the Edge program. Is this possible? I don't think I should have to pay an early termination fee or anything like that since my phone has become almost unusable. I know under normal circumstances you have to wait 2 yrs to upgrade but due to the update and the poor service I'm now getting I hope Verizon can make an exception. Thank you.

How recently did you switch?  If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account.  The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices.  I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices...

  • I dropped my iphone 4s and the screen quickly went to stripes then to black. After pressing buttons the next day, the phone works, but the charge was totally depleted and the screen shakes. Is there a fix for this?

I dropped my iphone 4s (it had an otterbox-thick case on it at the time of drop) last night and the screen quickly went to different colored stripes then to black. The phone wouldn't work. This morning, I was pressing all the buttons I could-at the same time and the phone turned on with the battery completely depleted. At the time of the drop the phone had 98% charge. I plugged the phone in and began charging, however, the screen shakes. Is there a fix for the shaking of the screen? The phone works otherwise. Unfortunately, I don't have warranty on it and have only had the phone since November.

Obviously your phone was damaged by the fall. Take it in for evaluation, servicing and/or replacement at an Apple store or authorized service provider.
Since it is out of warranty you will, most likely, have to pay.

It sounds like your phone is in recovery mode, which means it needs to be restored through iTunes on your computer in order to get out of it.
