Phostoshop CS4 + FCP Integration - Importing .TIF files...

I made the upgrade to CS4 and am trying to pull in some .TIF files that I had either created, converted, or were sent to me. THe originals are coming either from Adobe Illustrator CS3 files or Adobe Photoshop CS3 files.
For whatever reason I cannot get Final Cut to accept my .TIF files. I have tried adjusting several settings and keep messing with it, but it keeps giving me the error message:
File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown
What should the correct color settings be in Potoshop in order to correctly import .TIFs? Should I keep the embedded color profiles? Any other settings that I should tweak in order to properly pull these in. Does this have anything to do with my recent switch from CS3 to CS4?
My FCP project is HDV1080p30 BTW, if that makes any difference.
THANKS!

Could it be that the .PSD files were created in earlier versions of Photoshop?
I would have thought that a newer version can always open files created in an earlier version. Problems typically occur, trying to open files created in a newer version on older software, due to new features not being present.
If you dont have to animate individual layers, perhaps using the "Merge Visible..." (if you have transparency) or "Flatten Image" commands in Photoshop could be used.
Could it be that the new version of PS somehow handles layers differently? Perhaps your files were updated to that format when you opened them.

  • Flash CS4 does not allow importing .tif files

Hello, anyone know why Flash CS4 does not allow import .tif a few days to date. I worked very well and now he tells me something of a Swift 3D importer, but have not installed or that or any other programs lately, I also have QuickTime.
The truth is very strange that no permits, hopefully someone knows of that is due. Need help, please.
    Thanks

That's exactly what I'm doing (since using 1 Graphic Symbol instead of 2). In my current Flash work I have a bunch of Classic Tweens and those all worked. But when I try a Graphic Symbol that's a line of text, then it suddenly doesn't work (the timeline does change color with an arrow, but the text stays the same size with the exception of the second keyframe where it promptly turns into what's in that one). I even tried a random Classic Tween just now making a rectangle grow to make absolutely sure I wasn't doing something wrong, and that one worked immediately no problem.
And never mind that. Now it does work. I suppose I indeed did something wrong. Thank you very much for the help!
Say, one small question: does Adobe Flash have a function to properly set video clips after each other in one big video clip? Or do you have to manually count the frames and add the video clips at the proper frame yourself?

  • Why does Premiere CS4 fail to import video files from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3?

I've acquired a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It takes supherb HD video 1920x1080. But when I attempt to import the clips in Premiere CS4, I get the unsupported file error message. Am I missing a format spec in my project setup menu list? Or do I have to convert the files before importing and with what?

Please see above for what I have selected from the media panel.
In terms of the 'PDF Interactive export dialog' I am not sure what you mean, could you please talk me through this?
This is the instructions that I have been following http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/dynamic-pdf-documents.html#create_interactive_docume nts_for_pdf
    However, where it says
    "Buttons And Media
Select Include All to allow movies, sounds, and buttons to be interactive in the exported PDF file. Select Appearance Only to include the normal state of buttons and the video posters as static elements."
I cannot seem to find this menu, the only one I can find is Buttons & Forms and when I open this all of the options are graded out.  Please see the screen grab below...

  • Encore CS4 never stops importing a file

    Hi @all,
I have got a serious problem with Ncor CS4. I want to import an m2v file (5,6GB). Ncor imports it, the progress bar goes up to 100% but then it restarts to import the file and it takes again 5 Minutes, then, at 100% it restarts again and so on. It never stops importing the file.
When I hit the cancel button, Ncor crashes immediately.
Does anybody know a solution for this really annoying problem?
    My system is:
    C2duo @ 3 Ghz
    3,5 GB ram
    Win XP SP3

Well, in the meanwhile, I have read here that nvidia graphic cards may cause the problem, so I updated the driver (Nvidia GeForce 8600GTS). Then I deleted the Media Cache directory within the registry and I could import the file for the first time. But then, when I tried to add chapters, Encore crashed.
So I restarted Encore and again I could not import the file due to the infinite loop. The Media Cache directory was there again.
It can't be, that I have to delete something out of the registry everytime I want to use the program. That's really disappointing.
Well, 3.5GB is normal for a 32 bit XP system when you use 4GB ram. XP is only able to address 3.5GB out of 4GB - that's why. It is hard to say how different my PC is - I would say, it is quite standard - I have no plugins and other applications. The only hardware I installed was an E-MU 0404 Soundcard. But that's it...
I even tried it, using a completely new image (purely fresh Win XP SP3, no other software) installed Encore CS4 and had the same problem.

  • Import tif files as titles acting weird and wrong

I'm a noob to iMovie so thanks for the help. I am importing ordinary tif files as titles and when I playback the titles, visually they do this weird "swelling" and off-centering. There should be a simple dissolve to each frame to make a title build. All the tifs, which are spot-on registered out of PhotoShop, shift around and do this weird "swell" and aren't smooth at all. What gives?
    Thanks!

iM is set to add a Ken Burns effect to any added still.
you can switch-off this behavior in your Project's setting, Apple-J
select your still/clip in the Project Window, select the Crop Tool, select 'fit'.

  • How do you change a color on an imported tif file in adobe illustrator?

Hi, I have put together an illustrator file by importing various tiffs and putting them togetherfor a figure in a scientfic journal.  I have to change the red in all my images to magenta for those that are colorblind.  I was hoping someone could help me figure out how i can change red to magenta in illustrator off of imported tiff files (not objects that were created in illustrator - i know how to do that).  I have tried to get the answer from technical support over the phone but they keep disconnecting me?  Can anyone help?

Thanks for the input.  I do know how to do it in photopshop and am trying to export my files into layered .psd-s but the layers don't always export perfectly and the journal needs me to send a layered file (doesn't matter .ai or .psd).  The figure should have been put together in photoshop originally, but unfortunately it wasn't.  The Phantam CS seems interesting but you alos have to buy it and I don't want to have to purchase something to do it.  Especially since Adobe says there is a way to do it.  Just don't know what that way is....

  • Premiere Pro CS4 does not import EX1 files longer than 1 hour

I had to record a long speech and used a Sony XDCAM HD EX1 camera with a 32 Gb and a 16 Gb SXS cards. The speaker paused after 1h 26 min. I stopped the recording and waited until the green light that allows recording the segment came on. Later I recored smaller segments.
I copied all the recorded files to the PC hard disk ( Intel Quad Core 2.4 Ghz with 3.25 GB RAM with XP Proofessional SP3).
I used Sony Clip browser to watch the clips and all of them were perfect. Then I opened premiere Pro CS4 4.21 and I wanted to import this 27 GB file. In the media browser appeared only one mp4 file. All the short ones where imported normally but the big one freezed premiere and the only way to close premiere was with the windows task manager.
I checked again in the Sony XDCAM clip browser version 2.6 and you can see it perfectly. There was a detail, though: in the lower part of the preview window I saw 6 marks. When I checked the file in the disk, I found that the 27 Gb file was separated in 7 parts. Each of them was 3.51 Gb and the last one 2.5 Gb. That means that the file was cut in pieces that were less than 4Gb supposed max file lenght.
I tried many ways to import and no result. The I used the "export " of the sony clip browser. There is one choice that is "MXF for XDCAM HD". When I chose this item another panel appeared and showed a 1440 X 180 59.94i 25Mbps choice. I took it and after some time it created the 27 Gb file that I could import it normally with 4 audio tracks. But there is a drawback a "media concept" logo appeared to remeber to "buy" the program.
Anyhow, the question is: How can I import to Premiere CS4 a MP4 file created by a Sony EX1 HD camera whose lenght is more that 1 hour long ?
    Thanks
    Wolfgang

I think  is the contrary because the clip browser copies all the foleders needed. I got this opinion from another forum that copies into Final Cut:
"My workflow is to create a hard drive folder for the project, then use Clip Browser to import the clips from the card. I review the clips, labelling them, adding logging notes, setting the status and putting in essence marks as needed (the number of characters available for the essence mark description is fairly limited). I then open FCP, create and save a new project then call up XDCAM Transfer. I select the project folder and it will pull in all the clips. I then filter for OK status, occasionally create subclips then import. The clips come over to the bin, with their names and with the essence marks converted to markers. Obviously there are backups taken - I've not mentioned them."

  • Can't import .tif file

iPhoto won't import a large tiff file of a pano, one about 50K x 3K pixels, 852MB. Wondering if the problem is that it's a tiff, or the file size, or the megapixel count, or something else?
It was saved in photoshop with no image compression, 'interleaved' pixel order, macintosh byte order, and 'discard layers, and save a copy'.
I'm googling but having trouble finding anything clear and concrete about tifs and iphoto. Using OS X 10.5.6 and iPhoto '08 7.1.5 and Photoshop CS3.

Thought I had it figured: maybe 30,000 pixels in one dimension was a problem for iPhoto as it is for photoshop--as best as I can tell, that is the limit in photoshop for refusing to save files as jpegs (if offers only tif, large document format, or one other for images over that size in one dimension).
To test this idea, I took the large pano, opened the full sized tiff file in photoshop, made files of 29999, 30000, and 30001 pixels max dimension. The first two were saved directly as jpegs, the third as a tiff file that was opened in preview and saved as a jpeg from within preview, which does not appear to have a size limit as does photoshop.
    Then I tried to import 29,999.jpg (17.8 MB), 30,000.jpg (17.8 MB), 30,001.jpg (20.2MB) and 30,001.tif (322MB) into iPhoto.
    Guess which imported successfully?
    30,001.jpg and 30,001.tif.
    I am so confused!

  • CS4 won't import mpg file??

I've encoded mts to mpg, I've edit a project on school with the same software, but here at home the mpg files won't link cause it's damaged or unsupported. Am I missing any codecks or is there a way to fiks this? If there's missing codecks - how do I fiks that?? I'm a noob in this, so please help me.
    Thanks.
    Rebekka

    Rebekka,
Make sure to download the Adobe Clean Script CS4, as it will be very important in the process.
This has happened to many, and seems to be related to the updates (CS4.2 primarily). Shocking, when it does happen too!
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - before you use the re-installed program, do the full updating process. Again, important.

  • Encore CS4 Hangs on importing audio files

My newly upgraded RTX2 PC immediately hangs as soon as I try and import a WAVE or MP3 audio file into Encore. I can import other types of file into Encore. My OS is windows 7 Professional and I have the latest versions of Encore and Matrox Tools.

    The LG software was :
BD Rewiter & HD DV D-ROM Drive Solution
Which contains: PowerDVD, PowerProducer, Power2GO-Lightscribe Support, Instant Burn, Power Backup and BD Advisor.
All this software however was installed on my system when I ran CS3 and I never had any trouble before. In fact the only additional software between my old CS3 setup and the newly upgraded CS4 setup is that I now use Norton 360 instead of Macafee.
Can't help feeling that this is just another Adobe oddity, as Premier CS4 is also showing some wierd problems that CS3 never had! The old CS3 setup was actually far better than CS4 and just did the job without any aggro.
    Best wishes

  • FCP X Import MXF files?

Is possible to import, in FCP X, MXF files?

    MDSE
I have an XF100 which is almost the same as yours.
If youy download from the CF card via a card reader, you use the USB port.
If you download directly from the camera, you use a Firewire cable and connect to the FW800  port on your computer. The cable is not supplied with the camera. The output terminal is at the back of your camera, as you will see in your Instructions Manual.

  • Can fcp X import .TOD files without first having to convert?

Just hoping i can go in th fcp in one step instead of 3 very long ones...

fcp x cannot import JVC TOD files natively. you will have to convert them (preferably to prores 422).
you should be able to import files (with memory card inserted) or import from camera (with camera connected).

  • Importing .tif files, resizing, adding motion, drop shadow - 30 times?

Creating "pop up tips" in an instructional video. Is there a way to add the same behaviors to each new "Tip #" as I import them, instead of going through the same resizing, motion, drop shadow steps each time?
Sorry if this question has been answered - been searching - haven't found the answer.

Make all of the adjustments to one image, then copy that image. Select all other images in the Timeline to which you want to apply the same effects. Right-click on one and choose "Paste Attributes." When the attributes window opens, click the appropriate items on the VIDEO side, ie; Basic Motion, Drop Shadow, Filters, etc).

  • Tif files will not import with the same filenames as the .nef files

When I work on a .nef file, say x.nef, Lightroom 1.0 will allow me to export the x.nef as x.tif to the same folder as the x.nef file resides, but obviously I need to import the x.tif file into the folder for it to show up in LR When I try to import the x.tif file into LR it shows up the the file list OK. When select it and try to import it I get a message telling me that I can't import it as the file x.nef already exists. I didn't select x.nef but x.tif. It will allow me to import it into a different folder, but that is not what I want to do. i need the keep the relevant net and tif files with the same name in the same folder.
Adobe tech. support suggested; reinstalling, trashing the LR preferences folder, making new databases. None of these solved the problem. In LR beta 4 I could save import tif files with the same file name the .nef with no problem, but not in LR1.0.
Using Win XP Pro SP2. Pentium P4 3.0 with 2gig ram.
Has anyone else had this problem. Any assistance appreciated.

I agree (Adobe) that first the concept that michael.nef and michael.tif and michael.jpg are different files needs to be changed.
A duplicate is a file that has the same filename and extension and the same content measurements.
Under the above concept or any concept, ignore duplicates should bring in any file to LR with the same name (contents and measurements) and different extensions.
I do edit in NEF (more now if I use LR instead of PSE5), do save to PSD, and do save to L/F JPG. If I had to layer in PSD, then I use that for printing, otherwise LR. I always have to make large jpgs to upload to web printing sites, and even small jpgs (now we have the same name and extension (but the measurements would be different) to email. Yes, we do keep copies of an image. I can see where I might want to have the edited .NEF and the PSD in the lib to view, cuz they may have different edits on them.
