Photo Booth Screen Blank, Won't Take Pictures

Every time I open Photo Booth, I get a blank screen with a little movie symbol and a line through it. It won't let me take pictures at all; all I can do is view the ones I've already taken. All I can find in the help section is that if your screen is blank, the digital video camera isn't hooked up. But I have no idea what that means; I've never had to install anything for it to work. I'm so confused.

HI,
Reinstall the PhotoBooth application from your Mac install disk.
Insert your Mac install disk. Open the Optional Installs folder, then open Optional Installs.mpkg
An Installer will start... click Continue. When you get to the Installation Type in the window on the right you will see: Applications. Click the Disclosure triangle so it faces down. Select the PhotoBooth app then click: Continue.
After all software updates or installations, repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

If the pictures aren't in Photos it's not taking pictures. Didn't you ask this question two hours ago ?

Select all the photos that you need to change, then click the "Photos" menu and choose "Adjust Date and Time".
If you add a year, it will adjust all the photos that you selected by adding a year (so if you accidentally select one of the photos that already has "2012", that will change to "2013").

  • Photo Booth Help! My photo booth screen is very very dark. I thought it was the screen but its at the brightest it can possibly be! So I grabbed my mothers MacBook Pro and It's much lighter and more clear. I have just the regular macbook. Please Help.

My photo booth screen is very very dark. I thought it was the screen but its at the brightest it can possibly be! So I grabbed my mothers MacBook Pro and It's much lighter and more clear. I have just the regular macbook. I also used the my camera on tumblr and it came up like my mothers. So could it just be photo booth? I also have no idea how to find out which operating system is downloaded. This is preowned.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • Why is my Photo Booth screen green ?

When I turn on photo booth, the screen is green. When I take a picture, it remains green. Can anyone help me with this ?

    Hello TOM251
A search of iSight Discussions for "green" (without the quotation marks) returns several topics on your problem.
Here are some suggestions that worked for several other iNtel Mac users:
First, check the settings mentioned in Apple iMac G5 (iSight): Built-in iSight ... blue or green pictures.
You can also try Apple's suggestions re: Built-in iSight from How to Troubleshoot iSight.
If the reset and other Troubleshooting suggestions do not correct your problem, you can try the following:- Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.
    - Repair permissions.
    - Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update (iNtel).
    - Finish with another Permissions Repair, and then check your iSight again. Please let us know if one of these helps.

  • Photo Booth Displaying Blank Images

It's been a while since I last tried using Photo Booth and now when I open it up, the screen is blank. That is, my camera isn't projecting an image -- even when on the effects pages.
I've seen some info about how to try and troubleshoot, but it was for user's who have iSight. Having the MacBook Pro, obviously the camera is built in so that doesn't apply. I did go and remove my preferences from Home > Library > Preferences, but that didn't solve the issue either.
Has anyone else had this problem and were you able to resolve it?
    Thanks.
    -kurisu

    Thanks for the info.
My camera does work in iChat (just did a video chat w/ the parental units on Sunday), which was why I was shocked to see the video not work in Photo Booth.
Guess I'll be making a trip to the apple store.

  • Iphone 4 won't take pictures, says manage storage

My camera won't work sometimes on my iphone 4. It says go to settings and manage storage, can't take any more pictures and I only have about 900 pictures. Now on my iphone 3g, I never had this problem and I had 3000 pictures on it. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes I am experiencing the same problem! Frustrating because I also had about 4000 photos on my 3g IPhone and my current phone IPhone 4 says the same thing I have about 1000 pictures and it gives me the same message can not take picture "go to settings and manage storage" I found myself deleting most of my apps just to take more picture but even that only temporarly works. Please get back to me if you resolved this problem. ***** huh.

  • Screen Blank, won't reset

My Nano has a blank screen and won't reset. When plugged into the computer it makes a high pitched squeeling noise. I tried downloading iPOD updater, but once it was installed the computer wouldn't recognize that the iPOD was plugged in. Any suggestions?

If that doesn't work, contact Apple and ask for a replacement.

  • Photo Booth jams and won't quit

    Here is the issue:
At first, when running a photo kiosk type application such as Photo Booth or a similar 3rd party app (I also have had FunnyPhotographer installed, which works under Rosetta), it all seems to work fine.
But after a period of time working with other apps, and leaving the Photo Booth running in the background, the it will show a still image only, no longer displaying live information from the webcam. Sometimes it will work ok for quite a long time before this occurs. On other occasions I only launched another app and the display immediately froze up on the photo kiosk program. Eventually it will happen.
Once the Photo Booth displays a frozen image you can still take a snapshot of the image that currently frozen in the display window, but that is all. Live display has ceased, although the green webcam light still shines beside the inbuilt iSight camera.
When you command the app to quit, the beach ball will start rolling, and the app completely freezes.
When you force quit, the app still refuses to quit from the dock and continues to show that it is not responding when you Control-Click on it's Dock icon. This situation occurs regardless of whether you select Force Quit by Control-Clicking on the Dock icon, use Force Quit from the Apple Menu, use Activity Monitor, or even use a Terminal command to kill the process.
When you use Activity Monitor or Terminal, it will manage to remove the process from the processes list, but it will require Force Quitting twice in order to achieve this.
Despite the process no longer showing up in the process list after Force Quitting twice, it still remains locked on the Dock showing "Application Not Responding", and if you close and re-open the Force Quit window from the Apple menu Photo Booth will still be listed there.
Using Force Quit from Activity Monitor, or killing the process via the Terminal does make the green light that indicates that iSight is in use, go out.
Any attempt to re-launch thPhoto Booth in the Finder will give Error -600.
The only ways to get the frozen app back are to logout, or restart the computer (which will require two Force Quit confirmations if you haven't done this already).
Things that have already been done during attempts to resolve this issue:
    • Repair disc permissions
    • Parameter-RAM zap
    • PMU reset
    • Complete erase and re-install of Mac OS X, and full Software Update, back to version 10.4.8
    • Removal of any System changing 3rd part apps (including: Boot Camp iGlasses, Snapz Pro X (unregistered running in Demo mode), FunnyPhotographer, iClock, CopyPaste X). None of these has had any impact on the issue, so I have reinstalled them since. In any case, this problem has been in existence ever since I have had the computer, long before any non-Apple applications of any kind were installed.
In the face of the above information, AppleCare suggested that this is likely to be a hardware issue, and issued me a case number. The repairers replaced the iSight webcam and logic board, but the problem persists.
Have I found a bug here?
Anyone think they have a solution? What are people's

    Hi Paul,
Some feedback is easier than others.
For instance iChat has it's own page http://www.apple.com/feedback/ichat.html
Photo Booth is one of those few Apple apps that does not have a Feedback page of that sort.
I would ask in Discussions Feedback stating how the problem occurred and how to repeat it. Some one there may be able to point to a better place for a specific feedback.

  • My iPod 5 won't take pictures

my ipod 5 hasn't been letting me take pictures for a WHILE now. Probably about 2 months     its on my inner camera because when I bought my iPod it didn't even come with a back camera which I think is freaking stupid. I've tried everything! I'm done all I can say is FIX IT!

    Not knowing what everything was:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for yur 16 GB 5G. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following maybe less. Google for more.

  • Photo Booth - green camera light on - no picture showing

The green camera light fo the iSight camera is lit up. but when i go to Photo Booth, there is only a black screen - no image is showing, Can anyone tell me how to get an image?
    Thank you.
    Anne

    Hello Anne, (joyfulsoul)
Merely restarting you Mac may also fix your problem. If not, disconnect any USB peripherals and restart your Mac to see if the problem was caused by a conflict.
If your problem persists after the restart, try all relevant suggestions from Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight.
If the reset suggested there does not correct your problem, and if PB is the ONLY app that does NOT work properly with ANY app that uses iSight in ANY user account that you test, quit Photo Booth. Then delete the Photo Booth Preferences file (com.apple.photobooth.plist) from your Home / Library / Preferences folder. Then launch Photo Booth again and see if the problem is corrected.
If none of the above helps and you need to post back for other suggestions, please list EVERY apps that work correctly with your iSight and EVERY one that does not. Also tell us whether the problem is EXACTLY the same in every user account you tested.
If necessary, we will offer specific suggestions based on the details in your response.

  • How to get the camera icon on the locked screen so one can take pictures instantly without unlocking the device?

Verizon shows the camera icon on the locked [not home] screen. On the S4 Mini...[at least on my unit] the camera is not on the screen. So, to take a pix, one needs to unlock, then select the camera icon...then shoot.
    How to solve this?

Can't guarantee the accuracy but here's a link.  Read the 4 comments in addition to the instructions:
