Photo Order

I have 77 scanned photos.  When I load them into Premiere Pro CC 2014, they are not in numerical order.

You can also, if you have Lightroom, rename and number them as you export them. Doing this helps Pr organize them, I've seen problems arise from minor issues with numbers and names.
in Lr clear the Quick Collection (if they are in one folder this step is not required)
Mark each using B to load into Quick Collection.
Select first, hold shift, select last.
Select Export from pull down menu.
Walk through your choices in terms of size, file type, and name
Under name I've found it best to use name plus sequence and start the numbering with something other than zero. I always start with 1000. And I put them together in one folder all by itself.
This is method will also allow you to bring them in as a sequence, if that is what you want you must import from the pull down menu, just click on the first image in the sequence and check the Import Images As A Sequence box.  You can adjust speed using the clip controls once they are in the timeline.

  • Automatic refresh of photo order when changing photo titles in iPhoto 9.6

I've just moved from an older version of iPhoto to 9.6.
In the previous version, when you changed the title of a photo (within an event), the sort order of the photos was automatically and immediately updated.  In 9.6 it isn't - I have to do View - Sort Photos then select another sort criteria (e.g. date), then do this again for title, to get the photo order to refresh.
Does anyone know if I am I stuck with this new (retrograde) behaviour, or if there's a way to get iPhoto 9.6 to automatically refresh the photo order?
Otherwise, is there a keyboard shortcut for refreshing the photo order, or for changing the view - sort photos criteria?
Thanks in advance for any help!

It will resort if you leave the Event (click All Events button) and then go back.  Not a good solution but quicker IMO than using the View ➙ Sort menu method.

  • Album photo order in Apple TV 2 mobile me galleries = Failure

While the order of my photos in my iPhoto albums is preserved on Apple TV 2 via 'Computers' it is clearly using image file names to sort if you go in via 'Internet>Mobile Me'. This is especially annoying since you can view your albums in order not only on the web but also on the iPhone's 'Gallery' app. Since both the iPhone and the Apple TV 2 use iOS4, one would think that Apple TV 2 would be able to do a simple but very important thing like preserve photo order within albums. One of the major reasons for getting one of these for my dad was so he could easily view baby photos on his tv. It's annoying to watch my baby go from 3 months old to birth to 1 month old in my albums! When friends try to show vacation photos from their albums... well forget it.
It's hard to tell a photo story when all of your photos are completely out of order; which is very much the case if you happen to be combining photos from more than one camera since different cameras will be naming the files with different prefixes.
My only solution so far is to import all photos that will be used in an album into iPhoto, batch change their titles to the 'time and date' they were taken, then export those photos using 'titles as filename' option, then deleting all the photos iPhoto, then reimporting them. That way when they are put onto Mobile Me/Apple TV 2 they will be at least in chronological order. What a complete pain in the ---.
Any other solutions to this problem?

I suspect that you will have to re-edit the metadata to accomplish your goal. As images are copied and moved this is often modified (place/geotag, faces, dates).......... Just a though. You can download the photos and both check it and if necessary change it in iPhoto

  • Photo order in album gets mixed up after sorting photos

I have created albums from a recent trip, which I am using to make slideshows.  To get the photos in the desired order, I first sorted the album by date, then rearranged various photos to put them the way I wanted them.  I created one slideshow from that, which worked fine.  However, I came back to the original album the next day to make a different slideshow and the photo order has completely changed, into what seems random.  They are not in date order, nor in file name order.  I am very frustrated since I spent quite a bit of time editing and reordering the photos.
Similarly, if I have sorted an album by date, then use the pull-down menu to switch to manual, the photos again go into what seems like a random order.
Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
Relatedly, when I try to change the order of photos in a slideshow by grabbing a photo thumbnail from the top of the window and drag it to the right to put it at the end of the line, the window changes to another full-screen desktop, with iPhoto gone, hidden in another desktop.  Even the desktop background has changed, into an old background that I no longer use.
Thanks very much for any assistance!

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • First photo order from apple cuts off subjects head

Who is the genius at the Apple developing room who needs to crop a photo so that the subjects head is cut off? Usually when you send a picture into a photo store, they get it right the first time without exercising their creative PHOTOGRAPHER abilities. Why can't the film processors just leave the prints as is when they receive them? Well, I guess I will go elsewhere for my photo orders as the "creative" people there just have to show off their new, exciting film techniques by expanding, editing, cropping, and did I mention that the picture order I did receive looked nothing like what I sent them...UUGGHH!!! Go work at Costco or something...I think that's where I'll try next.

How do I make sure my prints are not cropped incorrectly during processing?
Each print size has its own slightly different rectangular shape, known as the aspect ratio. For example, an 8 x 10 print is proportionately taller and narrower than a 4 x 6 print. To make your image fit these different print shapes, photo labs usually enlarge the image slightly and crop out what doesn't fit.
For the best results, you should crop your images to the same aspect ratio as the print size you are ordering.

  • Can't move photo order manually

Inside an Event the sort order for "manually" doesn't work. It is fine for the Events order but I can't move a photo order inside an event.
    Help. Thanks,
    Larry

    Larry
There is no help for this. Events are organised on a strict date and time basis. You can edit the time of the pics (Photos -> Adjust date and time) or, better still, use Albums.
Remember, Albums are much more flexible than events, you can structure them any way you want, and as they simply refer to the files in the Library they take no disk space.

  • Shared Photostream: Photo Order for Public Web site

    I create a Shared Photostream.
I add pictures to the Photostream.
The people getting the stream who are on iOS devices see the photos in the order they were added to the stream.
    First In, First Out.
However, when I create the Public Website it appears that the photos are in the reverse order.
The last ones added to the stream are the first one seen.
Is the photo order just a coincidence? Or should there be a pattern to it? Consistent with the Website?
    Thanks!

  • Imac to ipad 3 rearranged photo order

Each time I try to export an album from my iMac  to my iPad (created in iPhoto after uploading from pixs from 2 camera's memory cards) it will not export it in the photo order that it was created in the album.  Even if it export the album back to a memory card-and insert in the iPad, it does the same.  I did transferred it to a flash drive and it was in the correct order. Thank you and thanks to the board, I did create a DCIM file to transfer the pixs.
Also, why cannot I not drag the photos from the iMAC to the camera chip instead of using the  export button.

Because you've bought an iPad 3, it contains the same amount of pixels, in fact possibly higher, with that of your iMac. I don't believe that the quality would diminish if this is the case.
You could check if the quality's still okay, send it as an e-mail attachment and check the file size. Compare to that of the photo on your iMac.

  • Slideshow photo order problem

How do I fix the problem with slideshow photo order?

What problem with slideshow photo order?
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on eight different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.

  • Fixing photo order

Has anyone found a fix to make the iPad revert back to displaying photo order by date taken?  I

There were other recent threads about the same thing within the last 2 weeks. Not sure where the matter stands.
For one poster who had a critical number of photos I recommended that she name them, for example, Monday 001, Monday 002, etc. It meant they were grouped together and in the correct order and this worked for her. This is OK if only a manageable number of photos are involved.
There are a number of programmes that allow you to rename photos by batch in a PC before syncing and this might be of interest to you. I would guess that in those circumstances they will remain in order when synced.
    Hope this helps a little!

I think you can't change the name I the moments. It's grouped by the iOS. You can choose photos and create albums though.

  • Photo order within Events broken on iOS devices synchronized with iPhoto

I have a Mac running OS X 10.8.2 with iPhoto 9.4.2 (710.42) and an iPhone and an iPad, both running iOS 6.0.1.
In iPhoto, I import photos from a memory card that I use in various digital cameras and organize them by events. I view photos inside events ordered by date in ascending order. This is also the order that I want to see my synchronized photos on my iOS devices (and which I did see in the past). I sync my photos from iPhoto via iTunes by the option "Select albums, Events and Faces automatically".
My most recently imported events cause some problems on my synchronized iOS devices. Now the photo order in the iOS "Photos" app is broken in the Events view. All photos that are taken in upright format appear BEHIND all photos taken in landscape format within an event. However, I want them to be sorted by date irrespective of the picture rotation, just as I see them in iPhoto on my Mac.
Events that I had imported earlier (before ~ mid October) are still ordered as expected, just as I see them in iPhoto.
According to this, the sorting of iPhoto should be preserved: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4221
I assume that photos of newly imported events are displayed on iOS devices in the order of modification date instead of creation date (EXIF) since iPhoto automatically rotates pictures that are taken in upright format by 90° and saves them as 'modified' files besides the 'original' files. I also assume that photos of my older events are displayed in correct order on my iPad since they had already been synchronized at a time when everything worked as expected. I also tried to re-synchronized these older events on my iPhone (to see what happens) by unchecking "Synchronize Photos" -> Apply -> checking "Synchronize Photos" -> Apply and on my iPhone, those older photos are also out of order now.
Also note that my photos are ordered correctly in the "Albums -> Photo Library" view on iPhone and on the "Photos" tab on iPad. These are the same pictures as under Events. So the sorting is wrong in the Events view of newly imported events only.
I know that there are some other discussions about the order of photos on iOS devices. I want this one to be specifically about problems with a synchronized iPhoto library. Anybody else experiencing this issue?

Same issue. Ever since upgrading to iPhoto on my retina MBP to 9.4.2. Problem seen with BOTH my iPhone 5 on iOS 6.0.1 AND iPhone 4S on 5.1.1, so not an iOS issue. For me, it impacts both albums and events. In fact, sometimes you can't even see the event under iTunes->device->photo tab, until you exit iPhoto & iTunes and restart both with phone plugged in. There is a workaround for the album's mis-order: by manually sorting photos through dragging a photo to a new location within the album and then placing it back. However, this doesn't work for mis-ordered photos under events.  Right now, I just have to live with it....  I have even tried removing all photos, deleting iPod photo cache, and starting anew. Even 1 event with 30 photos have the same problem.....
Really annoying as I like to see my event photos sorted by date.
Somehow, such syncing problems always seem to occur EVERYTIME there's an iPhoto upgrade. Are apple's departments so siloed? Do they not work with one another to test a software before releasing it?
Apple, please investigate and fix the issue ASAP!

  • Reverse photo order in iMovie

    Hi,
I am making a photo slide show with iMovie, and i have imported 240 photos into the project. Now the problem is that i want to reverse the order of the photos, so to play slide show from the last photo to the first photo (an anti-chronological order).
Dragging each photo from the last to the first will take me ages to do so, so i'm wondering if there's a way that i can just reverse the order/sequence of the photos all in one click.

  • Iweb rearranges photo order when making galleries

Every time I drag a group of photos to iweb to create a gallery it scrambles the alphabetical and or numerical order. How can I fix this? Help!
I'm using a macbook pro with 2.4 ghtz chip, Mac OS X (10.5.5), iweb 2.0.4. I do not use iphoto.
    Thanks

Are you just dragging the photos from the Finder into the photo's placeholder section? Set the folder to *icon view,* select all the photos and drag into the iWeb photo page. That should maintain the alphanumerical order that was in the folder/Finder.
However if you have sequential numbering I suggest you pad zeros to the sequential number if they already don't have them. By that I mean -001, -002, 010, etc. If you have just -1, -2 -10, they will not import correctly. You'll get -1, -10, -2, -20, etc. If you don't have sequential numbers tacked on the end of the file name then it should be a straight alphanumerical import.
