PHOTO TO MOVIE slideshow can go into MobilMe Gallery?

If I make a slideshow with an application other than iPhoto or iMovie, would I be able to put that slideshow into my MobilMe Gallery? I have PHOTO TO MOVIE and would like to upload a slideshow made from it.
~L

In addition to Terence's suggestion you could import that slideshow movie into iMovie and export it out of iMovie to MobileMe in several sizes for those with different internet connection speeds. This demo page has an example: Adding a MMe Gallery from iMovie 09.

  • Cant see my iTunes, Photos or Movies, but can see YouTube?

Just open the brand new Apple TV. It arrived this morning. Used all the right ID's and passwords and can see YouTube and rent films, but the home movies, photo's and music is only showing up on the MacBook Pro. The Apple TV remote seems to work fine all of it and will allow me to see everything on the Macbook pro. I've tried, rebooting, laptop and and Apple TV, resetting Apple TV, switched on, then off and back on again Home Sharing in Itunes on the Macbook pro. Why cant I see my iTunes, Photos or Movies on my TV Screen, but can see YouTube through Apple TV? I'm going crazy!!!!!

Worked out this solution. iTunes needed upgrading to 10.0.1. Did this and now it works fine.

  • Photo to Movie Slideshow compression problems

    Hello!
I am trying to compress a slideshow that has come out of a program called Photo-To-Movie for DVD. But the quality is not good when i have motion in the frame inspite of all different bit-rate, vbr, field order, motion estimation setting variations.
Actually the motion is not so flickery on TV, but it should be viewable on a computer screen also. I notice that the flicker is worse when the motion is vertical.
Photo-to-Movie has Full Quality DV (NTSC) setting on, so the picture coming out of there is top-notch. Seen through a Quicktime player the slideshow is also alright.
Does anyone has any suggestion what to try more?
I use latest Compressor and DVD studio pro and Photo to movie.
    Thanks in advance!
    Timo

Try a flicker filter in FCP or a blur deinterlace in Compressor. A blur deinterlace filter followed by a mild edge sharpening may be all you'll need (try a setting of 5 to 10 for the edge sharpening filter).<small><hr width="75%"><small>If this suggestion helps in any way, a confirmation or acknowledgment would be appreciated, since that would also help others who may be having the same difficulty. Do for others as you would have them help you.<center>Thanks for sharing, Waymen.</center></small>

  • Ken Burns vs Photo to Movie test

I did a quick simple test to see how iMovie's Ken Burns and Photo to Movie manage high resolution, high frequency still images as their input:
I made a 3150x1728 (5 megapixel) TIF image. I chose that particular ratio because it completely fills both NTSC and PAL 16:9 frame when imported to iMovie HD 5-6's widescreen project.
I inserted 1 pixel thin horizontal and vertical black stripes at every 100 pixel. That kind of thin (high frequency) lines tend to flicker on a TV unless they are blurred.
Then I imported the still to a widescreen NTSC (I chose NTSC for Karl, Fred, Kirk and other NTSC-geared geeks iMovie HD 6.0.3 project and applied a 2 second 1-5x zoom to it.
I did a similar zoom with Photo to Movie 3.2.2's High Quality export setting and compared the results...
Well, the iMovie zoom-in was quite interesting: at modest zoom factors many stripes were omitted and the stripes disappeared and appeared as the zoom progressed! Some stripes were rendered grayish, but they were always 1 pixel thin (a recipe for flicker on a TV!). Only near the end of the zoom-in, all the stripes appeared and begun to grow thicker (and non-flickery on a TV).
The Photo to Movie zoom-in was much "duller": all stripes were preserved and they were slightly blurred (which prevents flicker on a TV).
    The winner: Photo to Movie.
The input TIF and 2 second output .dv files are below (to my surprise the 15 MB input zipped to only 1.8 MB with this material). I turned ON the high quality display for you in the .dv files, but verify that the setting sticks when viewing them with QuickTime Player Pro. You can advance one frame at a time via the left/right arrow keys.

Discussing DVD playback on a TV, Matti said:
The output that used the original TIF as its input
was full of artifacts and lots of flicker with the
moderate zoom factors. Gaussian blur was also quite
bad while the 875x480 downsampled TIF was very
peaceful. Of course the 875x480 was somewhat fuzzy
    with the extreme zoom factors.
Photo To Movie's Higher Quality setting was very
peaceful with practically no flicker on the TV.
I admit that this is an artificial and a very
difficult test image. But I have seen the same
artifacts with real JPGs as well if there are hard
lines in the image (buildings, wires, waves, fine
    patterns etc).
I've seen similar results here too, burning perhaps a hundred DVDs in the last few weeks. The goal was to compare DVD slideshows created by iMovie, Photo to Movie and FotoMagico. Matti's conclusions look familiar.
My tests used photos that are the most difficult for iMovie to handle, lots of hard lines, buildings, wires, fences, roof lines, etc.
When the goal is to burn a DVD, Photo to Movie consistently delivers good quality with a variety of source images. The quality is good across a range of image sizes and content. If you like working in Photo to Movie, you can be quite confident you'll get good results.
But I like working in iMovie, so the goal of my tests was to find a way to make iMovie work better. The solution was to downsize the image before importing it to iMovie.
As Matti suggested, iMovie delivers good results if the source image is downsized before importing to iMovie. Virtually all flicker is eliminated by downsizing to 640x480 (NTSC) or 768x578 (PAL). (Downsize less if you plan to use a 2x or greater Ken Burns zoom.)
Downsizing is easily done with iPhoto's File > Export command. It takes just a few seconds to export new copies of photos at the new size.
So is Photo to Movie "better" than iMovie for slideshows? Sometimes Yes, if you don't want to resize problem images. But often not, at least from my tests. iMovie can deliver fine results too. And to be fair to iMovie, it has other advantages.
Note: Our tests may have little in common with the pictures you often shoot, the people pictures, the landscapes, the other "soft" images. They are WAY easier for iMovie to handle, and may not require downsizing. It depends on the photo's content.

  • How do I move my downloaded video clips (from youtube etc) into my photo album so I can see them in the aurasma app?

I want to use videos downloaded from youtube in the AR app Aurasma, but, I don't know how to move the video clips into my photo album to do this.

1 - select the photo(s) in iPhoto and export (file menu ==> export) to a desktop folder - mount the USB drive and drag that folder to it.  I usually use the export custom size option to limit teh photo to the maximum pixel dimension of the photo frame letting me have more photos on the USB drive
2 - to restore the iPhoto icon in the dock launch iPhoto from the Applications folder and right click on the icon in the Dock sleecting keep in Dock

  • As of a few days ago, I can no longer import photos from my Nikon Coolpix s7c into iPhoto. Never before had a problem. (it is the version prior to iPhoto 11--all Apple software is UTD)

As of a few days ago, I can no longer import photos from my Nikon Coolpix s7c into iPhoto '08. Never before had a problem.  I sent a request to Nikon for help and they referred me back to Apple.  Help, if possible, please.

As the photos imported to the test library you know that it works with your version of iPhoto (so, you can skip the paranoia about Apple making you upgrade). The issue then is the Library, so
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • How can I make a slideshow in iPhoto into a video on an iPad 3?

Been trying to find a way to make a slideshow in iPhoto into a video. Is there a way to do this?

You can avoid the Ken Burns effect, but it would be a lot of work:
    See:  http://help.apple.com/imovie/ipad/2.0/index.html#knac3eec39c6
If you don’t want the Ken Burns effect applied to a photo, set the image position and zoom level to be the same for the start and end points.
Adjust the movement of photos with the Ken Burns effect
iMovie applies the Ken Burns effect to the photos you add to your project. With this effect, the camera appears to sweep across and zoom in on the photo. If there are people in the photo, iMovie uses face detection to keep faces within the viewing area.
You can adjust the Ken Burns effect so that the motion starts and ends on the parts of the image you specify.
In the timeline, tap the photo you want to adjust. The Ken Burns effect controls appear in the lower-right corner of the image in the viewer.
To set the way the photo is framed at the beginning, tap the Start button .
Pinch to zoom in or out, then drag the image in the viewer to frame it the way you want.
To set the way the photo is framed at the end, tap the End button .
Pinch to zoom in or out, then drag the image in the viewer to frame it the way you want.
To close the controls, tap the Ken Burns Effect button , or tap outside of the clip.
If you don’t want the Ken Burns effect applied to a photo, set the image position and zoom level to be the same for the start and end points.

  • Drop Saved Slideshows to Photo or Movie Section?

I have 2 saved slideshows I created in iPhoto. What is the best way to use iDVD to get both of them onto one dvd?
I have tried using Magic iDVD and dropped both slideshows into the photo section. I named the dvd, but I cannot see a way to name the two slideshows there. They just show up as Slideshow 1 and Slideshow 2. Is there a way to create names for them?
I tried dragging them into the movie section, and the dvd worked. The only problem is that some of the photos in the slideshow (particularly ones that were cropped) had dark around them, rather than filling the screen. While those were moving across the screen (or in or out using Ken Burns), the edges were shaking quite a bit, and that is very distracting.
So, let's start at the point where I have 2 Saved Slideshows in iPhoto. What is the best way to get them to iDVD, and then the best way to get them onto one dvd with the titles I want, and best quality?
    Joe

I would reccomend not to partition, there really is no need.
Format as Mac OS Extended; I don't journal but some people do.
You can certainly use the drive as your scratch disk and as storage.
I just create folders for what I need; so a folder for the scratch disk/media drive a project. I make a folder called Video and this is what I set in FCE System Settings. Captured video goes there and it creates the other folders like Render files. I also create separate folders for Music, Pics, Titles whatever else I need for the project. I keep the actual project files on the system drive where FCE lives
On the same HDD you could have other folders for things like music libraries, old project files, any other kind of media you want. Remember, you will always use all the extra space you can muster so by not partioning you are giving yourself the max amount of room possible
I work with large, multiple projects so at the is point I have drives that are strictly for storage but this just a space issue. Starting out, I had multiple folders on the same drive with no issues. Just keep track of where everything is

  • I created a slide show on work computer. Placed photos and movies in Media Browser. Want to use another computer (laptop) to give presentation. Do I need to copy media browser to laptop or are pictures and movies embedded in slide show and can go anywhere

I created a slide show on my work computer and placed many photos and movies in my work computer's Media Browser. Want to use another computer (laptop) to give the presentation and therefore change location of slide show. Do I need to copy the media browser to the laptop or once the pictures and movies are embedded in the original slide show, can I take it anywhere and not worry about the media browser?
I also want to optimize a movie for Keynote, so it's not too large a file. Please help.

Graphic, sound and video files are copied into the Keynote file, but make sure Keynote > Preferences - include sound and movies check box is ticked.
If you have added additional fonts they will need be changed to reflect what is on the destination machine.
If the other machine has a different Keynote version, ensure the same transitions and effects are available.

  • Can't view photos and movies emailed to me on new 16GB iPhone

I'm sure this has been asked here already, but couldn't find it. When someone emails me a photo or a movie I can't view it on the iPhone. All I see is an icon with mime-attachment under it. I'm able to view the photos and videos on my iMac and Powerbook though. The 2 most recent videos were .wmv so I'm guessing I can't view those as it is right now on the iPhone, but I have no idea why I can't view the pictures. Thanks

whoever is emailing you the photos is sending them as a .zip file not a .jpg most likely because there is more than one photo. unfortunately iPhone does not have a .zip file reader so whoever is emailing the photos has to make sure they are not zip ing them and resend them as .jpg files. (usually gmail tries to convert several images into .zip files)

  • Slideshow Fotomagico vs. Photo to Movie

I've searched a lot of forums and thought this one might have a few "high-end" users with some experience with slideshows. Most of the reviews comparing these 2 programs are 2 years old and both programs have changed a lot..including their prices. Looking at both these programs and it seems the express version of Fotomagico and the regular version of Photo to Movie cost the same yet P2M seems to give you more options in how to export your show. Can anyone comment on that, particularly the export options in fotomagico? Thanks.

Never used photo to movie ot pro show gold, used imovie and idvd many times in the past. the pro version of FM gave me access to aperture, but there is a snag with its implementation. When using FM's media browser, you can only see at a project level. This is insufficient when a project can contain 1500 images. I wanted visibility at a narrower sub-smart album view, however the devs claim aperture does not pass that information to their app. So i'm back to exporting specific images for DVD export. FM has a few limitations as i said, but it has been robust, fast and configurable enough without tearing your hair out. I do want twin audio and 2+ images-up per slide...I think there is a trial run for FM, if so give it test drive.

  • In slideshow can photo be offset?

I'd like to have the text (caption) on one side and the photo on the other. I can move the title, but can't see how to move the photo.
If Aperture can't do this, what would you recommend. My requirements are having the captions showing on the left and the photo on the right, music and looping.
I'm assuming Keynote can do this, but it will probably be a lot of work because I doubt the captions can be imported automatically. I couldn't see how to do what I want in iPhoto either.
    Thanks for any suggestions

    Thanks QT-K.
I have added the Slideshow button to the page and positioned it at the bottom (as I didn't want it on the page), and I have uploaded to iDisk.
However when I take my browser to the page I get the same error!
These changes should take immediately, right?
Oh, and I emptied Camino's cache before I revisted as well.
    Hmmm...

  • Can I extract photos from a slideshow?

I was given a slideshow someone made. It is identified as VIDEO_TS.VOB and opens in VLC. It won't play in Quicktime. Anyway, is there a way of extracting the original photos from the slideshow?
Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

    N-h:
Unfortunately, no. A screenshot is the best you can do. The original photos were converted to a 640 x 480 size for use in a QT format movie. Maybe it's time to consider an external FW hard drive for backup purposes. It's very cost effective insurance against such loss.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Can I select all flagged photos and move to a flash drive

Can I select all flagged photos and move to Flash Drive as a group rather than drag and drop one pic at a time?

    Hi David,
One way you can do it is to create a Smart Album, and make the conditions = Photo Is Flagged. That will put all of your flagged photos into a single album. Then you can export that Album to the Flash Drive via File>Export. Once you set up the Export the way you want it, and then click on "Export" it will bring up your Finder Window, allowing you to select the Flash Drive to export to.
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers,
