Photoshop as primary editor

I'd like to have Photoshop as my primary image editor in Dreamweaver but am unable to get it to work. When I click on the "edit" icon in the properties panel it opens Microsoft Photo Editor instead. Here's what I've done so far to fix this:
1) Go into Dreamweaver's settings Edit > Preferences > File Types/Editors and deleted all of the editors, leaving only Photoshop and then making it my Primary editor by highlighting it and selecting "Make Primary." This heading now has (primary) next to it, and there are no other editors to chose from.
2) According to Microsoft's website, their photo editor is a part of their Office package and is not able to be uninstalled. One can, however, go into the Control Panel and under Add/Remove Programs, select the entry for MS Office and change the program so photo editor is "Not Available." This has also been done.
I still get the pencil icon for the photo editor in the properties panel when I should be getting the "Ps" icon. Has anyone run into this problem or know of a fix?

You have to set Photoshop as your default editor for this type of image.
From the windows explorer, right click on an image / photo and select open with, from this menu select Photoshop, just below the program options there is a check box which says always open this type of file with selected program select this, click O/k.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 Editor Shuts Down Without Saving for Web

    Hi
I have a mac version of Photoshop Elements 12 Editor. I have been using the products for a few months with no problems until recently when I try to save for web (after the preview is shown), the program will shut down by itself when I click the "Save" button.
    Mac version OS X 10.9.5

Oh, and while you're in there delete:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
There's a saved application states folder at the same level as the Preferences folder. Delete anything in there for PSE.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 Editor : File/Open - How can I set a default folder ?

    Hi
When I am in the Photoshop Elements 11 Editor and I want to load a picture from "My Pictures" on my hard disk ...
    I go the menu item File/Open ...
Right now PE11 opens the last picture folder I worked with before ...
How can I make PE11 show the root directory of the "My Pictures" Library.
I do not want people to see which pictures I have been working with lately.

Before quitting the app after you have worked clic Edit->Preferences and click Reset preferences on next launch.
This would reset the settings and next time it will open my pictures by default with file open,
    Thanks,
    Garry

I own both Photoshop Elements and Photoshop (the original editor).  I find the elements editor to be too cumbersome to use and would just like to edit using Photoshop.  When I try to install Photoshop as a secondary editor in elements I get an error message that I don't need to this because it is already supported on the edit menu and task bar.  I can not find any way to send images to Photoshop for editing - all I can do is send them to elements editor or the premier editor.  Can someone tell me how to send them to Photoshop?  Thanks!

    Hi,
The D810 requires Camera Raw 8.6 or later - the latest version that is compatible with Photoshop Elements 12 is Camera Raw 8.5 as far as I can see.
You need to either buy a new version of Photoshop Elements or use the free Adobe DNG converter.

Have downloaded Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor from the Mac App Store onto my Mac Book Pro, set i photo preferences to Adobe PSE 10 editor, but when I try to open a file from my photo library, the following message appears: "could not complete your request because of a program error". • Photoshop Elements 8 Editor will not open

I'm running Windows Vista (Home Premium) on a Sony vaio laptop that exceeds (by a landslide) all of the requirements to operate Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.  The organizer opens just fine and functions properly.  When I try to open the editor (either through the organizer or by its self it states "launching" and does not open.  Instead within three to five seconds I get a small windows error window that pops up stating "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working" even though I can't even get the editor to open.  I've tried some of the support suggestions on the Adobe web site but clearly this is something else.  I've also removed and reinstalled the software twice with no changes.  I downloaded all of the windows updates as well.  PLEASE HELP!

    Re: Photoshop Elements 8 Editor
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go to c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.
I found this in the Elements forum and it worked!!!!

  • Adobe photoshop elements 10 editor crash when the organizer is open

My operating system is: Windows 7 Home Basic (service pack 1) 32-bit. Directx: 11.0, video card: Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT, (512 ram DDR 3, whit driver 296.10 that is the last one), PCI Express x16 Gen2. Procesor, Intel Core i7 860 2800 MHz. System Memory 2040 MB DDR 3 (Kingstone), only 1 disk drive of (931.51 GB), a system defragmented recently. I have a latest version of Quicktime from Apple. If you can help me, i glad you. Photoshop Elements 10 editor stops working properly when i have the organizer on at the same time. basically, the program not responding as if to consume all system resurces for erratic periods, but other programs works fine. as if the organizer blocks the editor or generate conflict. if i close editor, organizer works fine, if i close organizer, editor works fine, not both together. i reinstall, and the problem persist.

Are you able to edit an image file that's not in the iPhoto library with PSE 10?
Also the followinjg has some tips on configuring PSE for use inside iPhoto that you may or may not know about:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.  3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9/10 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu).  This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • How to import photos from iPhoto Library to Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor?

I can't use Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor to edit photos from iPhoto Library. If I choose File, Open, and then select 'iPhoto Library', error message is "could not complete your request because of a program error."

You can't do it that way. Any attempt to poke around in the iphoto library from outside iphoto is very likely to damage the library and cause you to lose your photos, so PSE won't let you. You have two choices:
    1. Set PSE as your external editor, send the photos from iphoto, and save them without changing the name or format (you may need to adjust the editor prefs>Saving Files>On First Save to let you do this). Then iphoto will remember your original and the last edited version.
Be sure to choose this file in Applications>Adobe Photoshop Elements 10>Support files as your external editor, not the one at the top level of the PSE 10 folder in Applications:
    2. Export the photos from iphoto, use File>Open in the PSE editor to open the images and then save them with whatever changes to name or format you like, and reimport the saved images to iphoto as new files. This way you can save as many versions as you like.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor

I purchased and installed for the Apple Shop, Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Editor yesterday but I cant seem to get it working.  Devastated!
Can anyone please assist me?  Refer to the error attached.
Thanks very much for your help.

    Guys,
You are right. Something very different about this version through MAS. I thought there was something screwy that even though the info in MAS said it could be installed in one of four different languages there was no option for which language.
Double checking this I got forced into buying it from MAS. Purchase made before I could back out and installation was automatic over which there was no control.
I can't find anything on my Lion drive about unistall.
Like I said PSE earlier versions had always let you set location and language as part of the install. And the install also included an unistaller for that app.
I wound up with an English installation which I guess is based on my location and account in MAS.
meino-w where did you download to, meaning your location?
I have to say that I am not impressed with how MAS handles this. It is also a different package than you would get from Adobe.
I am sorry that I don't have any answers, I am left with just questions myself.

How do I open my raw files in photoshop elements 12 editor.  I have a MacBook. I use the iPhoto and move the files I want to work on into elements, but it converts the raw files into jpeg files.
    Thanks for your help!!!

Are you opening the image directly from iPhoto? Right click & choose Edit in >> Photoshop Elements Editor
This link is old but gives information on set up. It relates to PSE11 but the principle is the same. In iPhoto prefs you navigate to the editor application in the support files folder. Start from Finder by holding down the Alt (Optn key) and choosing Library.

  • Adobe photoshop Elements 12 Editor - launch problem

    Hi,
    Can anyone help!
I downloaded adobe photoshop elements 12 editor.  When I open the application the page goes straight to 'create' (ready for editing) I looked up some tutorials and noticed that the first page should launch with an option to 'Oraganise' Or 'Create'.  This page does not appear for me! ?  I have no way of importing/organising my photos into the Elements Library. I do not HAVE a library!
I can import my files straight from the DS card in RAW, but it takes a long time to search for each individual photo that way. Can anyone help??

If you can launch the editor after a re-start go to:
    Edit >> Preferences >> General
Click the button to reset preferences on next launch. Close the editor and re-open again.

Problem am 26.11.13 mit Herrn Samt (Adobe Support Center) besprochen, leider habe ich bis heute kein Feedback erhalten!
