Photoshop CC work area troubleshooting on wacom tablet

Hi I have a very odd problem going on with photoshop cc while using my wacom tablet. For the most part it runs fine with no real problems whatsoever. I can work on photoshop normally until I move my cursor away from the wacom screen, back to my MacBook, and click out of the program. Once I do this the work area in photoshop disappears. specifically meaning the window where my current file is being made goes blank. everything around the work area appears the same, like the tools, tabs, etc.  My only solution to this problem is to turn off and on the wacom tablet. It works fine after that until I click out of the program again. Its getting pretty annoying to deal with now so any help would be super appreciated. I will post pics to give you guys an example when I get the chance. Posting from my phone right now.
here are my specs:
Macbook Pro  15-inch
2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB
OSX 10.9.2 (13C64)
Cintiq 13 HD

Is it just slow drawing, or is actual computation (image size, rotate, GBlur, etc.) also slow?
If the slowdown is drawing, then the most likely culprit would be the video card driver. Update your driver from the GPU maker's website.
If the computation slows down, then something is interfering with Photoshop. We've seen some third party plugins, and some antivirus software cause slowdowns over time.

  • How many people would like adobe to create an app where iPad works just like a wacom tablet?

Honestly, the adobe companion apps for iPad aren't that great. I feel that adobe can do better. They should improve all of them. They have potential, but need work. I have been looking around, and a lot of people have been asking this question, is there anyway to turn your iPad into a Wacom tablet. Well there isn't. You can view it on your iPad using apps like air display, but you can't use it like an art tablet with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, etc. I would appreciate anyone's comments, and ideas on this topic. Thank you for your time.

    Hi Bella,
We are working to launch more applications which can be use on Ipads or tablets. Once we will have the updates we will keep you posted.

  • How can i calibrate my wacom tablet laptop without using linuxwacom?

i recently installed the xf86-input-wacom driver, however, once i installed linuxwacom or linuxwacom-dev my system won't load X anymore.
xf86-input-wacom is great, i have sensitivity and even the button on my stylus works.  there are still two problems, the eraser doesnt work and i don't know how to calibrate it for my tablet monitor.
where can i learn how to do this without installing linuxwacom or linuxwacom-dev?

Note that you can get all current values, formatted into shell script form, like this:
xsetwacom -s --get "Wacom PL550" all > setemall
Then you have to remove everything you don't want to set (e.g. read-only parameters, and things that will always be right by default).
I have an old Cintiq (actually a Hitachi StarBoard, which is just a rebadged Cintiq AFAICT) which I want to use under my main monitor.  By default when I move the stylus from the bottom of the Cintiq up to the top, the cursor starts on the Cintiq and then goes onto the main monitor, because it mapped the area of the Wacom tablet to the entire virtual desktop (some of which is not even reachable because my main monitor is wider than the Cintiq: 1920x1200 with 1024x768 "under" it means the virtual desktop will be 1920x1968.   Unfortunately there doesn't even seem to be a calibration utility so I had to do a lot of trial and error, fiddling with the X and Y ranges, to get the cursor confined to the Cintiq and pixel-accurate.  These settings worked for me, to fix that:
    xsetwacom --set "Wacom PL550" Screen_No 1
xsetwacom --set "Wacom PL550" TwinView none
xsetwacom --set "Wacom PL550" xyDefault 0
xsetwacom --set "Wacom PL550" mmonitor 1
xsetwacom set "Wacom PL550" "BottomY" "4600"
xsetwacom set "Wacom PL550" "TopY" "2820"
xsetwacom set "Wacom PL550" "BottomX" "3320"
xsetwacom set "Wacom PL550" "TopX" "65"
So far I'm using separate screens rather than TwinView, but will try it again and see how that goes.  I was thinking of confining my mouse to the main screen as well, because being able to mouse beyond the bottom edge breaks some gestures (like slamming into the lower-left or lower-right corner to open a KDE flyout panel), and I will probably use the Cintiq mainly for drawing programs.  But being able to mouse onto it is kindof useful too, and I can always just turn it off when I'm not using it.  And I'm not sure how to confine the mouse to one screen, e.g. in xorg.conf... one would think there would be a way, and maybe the same technique could confine the stylus to the Cintiq's area of the desktop as well?
Which brings me to another problem: every time I turn it back on, it's re-detected by udev and then by X.  So I will need to run my setup script again when that happens.  Should be possible to get udev or hal to do it automatically somehow, maybe.
Yet another problem is that if I hold down the right-click button on the stylus and simultaneously press the stylus against the screen, the cursor jumps back to my main monitor.  Pressing that button on the side of the stylus is itself like a right-click, so it's not necessary to "click" against the screen at the same time, but that's still annoying behavior, and inconsistent with some types of tablets where the stylus buttons are like modifiers, and you do still have to press against the screen to actually "click".
It really rocks that X does such a good job detecting devices that come and go, though.  A few years ago, being able to turn it on after X was already running, and having it work, would have been unheard of.

  • How to I get the the Wacom tablet's pen sensitivity to work on Photoshop when it works in Flash?

    Hi Everyone!
Alright so I did some looking around to see if I could use other threads to help solve my issue before I came here to ask. A lot of them seem to be related to surface pro and some of the instructions I followed was to remove USB drivers so that they can re-install themselves and simply re-installing the Wacom drivers.
I am on Windows 8 (64bit) and am using and Intuos 4 Wacom tablet and what seems to be most peculiar is that the pressure sensitivity seems to be working just fine in Flash but has never been able to work in Photoshop. I took this as a sign that this might be more of an issue with the application than the tablet itself since it is clearly registering in another application.
Sorry if this has been answered before! If so, it would be great to get a link otherwise I would greatly be indebted to those able to help me with my problem.
    Thanks so much!

    1) You asked "Does she need to reconnect to that itunes/computer and if so what do we need to do to remove this folder of pics from her ipod?" Yes, you have to connect the iPod to that computer and go to the Photos pane for the iPod in iTunes and uncheck sync photos and the click on synce/apply. In the future do not check sync photos.
iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes
    2)
Create a NEW account for using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Then on the iPod go to
    - Settings>Messages>Send and receive and sign out your ID and sign into hers. Make sure that only her ID email address is listed.
    - Settings>FaceTime sign out of your ID and sign into hers. Make sure that under You can be reached at only her ID email address is listed
    - Settings>iCloud and sign out and sign in with hers

  • Troubleshoot using wacom cintiq 21ux pen tablet with Photoshop cs5

    Hello to all.
got my new Cintiq 21ux today. ! its my first pen tablet and i really love it !
i worked it perfectly on my photoshop cs4 and after watching some videos and reading articles i decided to upgrade to CS5 and that is when all the problem started.
long story short it seems like every time i open photoshop CS5 my wacom keyboard shortcuts and the pen calibration feat' vanish like i never did them and i need to re do them again from scratch.
to be more percise with my broblem:
I spent about an hour fixing the all the keyboard shourcuts on the Wacom "Tablet Properties Shortcut" menu (from the control panel) and i calibrated the pen.
after installing photoshop CS5 I lunched it and when i grabe my pen to try and work in the cs5 i got a messeage "Pen display tablet calibration reminder". i got the same message when i used the tablet for the first time and to my suprise when i went to the "Wacom Tablet Properties" menu - all the shortcuts i made disapper as i have never done them....
I maid a new keyboard shortcuts for the photoshop cs5 and closed the "Wacom Tablet Properties" menu. i opend it again just to make sure that the shortcuts had been saved and they had.
i opend the photoshop cs5 for the seconed time and when i moved my pen close to the tablet i got again the pop up window with the messeage "Pen display tablet calibration reminder".
needless to say - all my keyboard shortcut vanished again as never been maid.
i am using a strong pc computer with windows 7 and i have i downloaded and installed the latest cintiq wacom driver - the 6.1.5-3 driver version.
    thx in advance @

    Hi,
I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues. Which tablet is it exactly that you are using?
Which Android version do you have on it?
It would be good if you could give us a screen shot of what you are seeing.
Would it be possible for you to share the file that you cannot open?
You could send it to me privately.
Could you also please let us know what you were doing before the file got corrupted?
From which version did you upgrade by the way?
    Thanks,
    Ignacio

  • Photoshop CC 2014 incompatible with Wacom tablets?

Hey everyone, so I'm having a lot of issues with my Wacom tablets and PS CC 2014. So, I have two tablets hooked up to my computer (and before you ask, no, the issues don't stem from two tablets being connected to the computer. I already tested that.) A Cintiq 21UX and an Intuos 5. Both work very well and as you would expect in Photoshop CC, however in CC 2014 they have loads of problems. On the Cintiq, while I get great, fluid lines with the brush tool I can't change my eraser's size on the fly by rotating my pen like usual. It's very annoying and absolutely destroys workflow. Now, the eraser works, but the size can't be changed by flipping the pen from the brush tool like it normally would be able to. That's just the issue with the Cintiq though, on the Intuos 5 there's no pen pressure whatsoever! It just thinks the pen is a mouse, on both sides of it. I'm certain this isn't a driver issue, as the tablets have their drivers up-to-date and work perfectly with both Photoshop CC (standard) and Corel Painter X3.
Does anyone know how I could fix these issues?

I'm on Windows 8.1 with an Intuos4 tablet.  I updated to photoshop CC 2014 and after updating the tablet driver so I had the use Windows Ink checkbox I got the pressure sensitivity back but the lines are horrible and jagged so I'm trying to revert to the old implementation following your instructions and created the txt file named PSUserConfig.txt with the lines
    # Use WinTab
    UseSystemStylus 0
That worked to get pressure sensitivity to work whether or not the Windows ink box was checked but didn't fix the jagged lines.
I'm not sure I understand the second part of your instructions about turning off gestalt's functionality (Not even sure what that is) Is there supposed to be a PSUSerConfig.txt file because there wasn't one until I just saved the one I made.  Is any of this even going to fix the jagged lines or is that a whole different issue?
Everything works just fine in Photoshop CC 64bit

  • Wacom Tablet causes Apple wireless keyboard to stop working.

My Wacom tablet/pen causes my Apple wireless keyboard to stop working.  While working on a photo in Photoshop using my Apple (usb) mouse to make selections the keyboard works fine.  When I use the Wacom Pen to make selections, not immediately but anywhere from five to ten minutes into it, I hear what sounds like a chirp from my computer (Mac Pro) and my keyboard stops working.  The command, option, control and direction keys still work but not the number and letter keys.  I have to connect a spare Logitech keyboard via USB in order to continue and not loose my work.  After awhile I will hear the chirp again and the Apple keyboard will start working.  This will continue to occur at irregular intervals.  Without the spare keyboard I've had to reboot my computer (loosing all the work on the photo) to get the keyboard working again, but only for it to reoccur.  Any suggestions to fix this would be appreciated.

The Mac inherently keeps all input methods active, such that you could type alternate keys on alternate keyboards.
If you have third party add-ons that might change the way Bluetooth works, those would be the primary suspects.
Be sure all your Drivers are completely up-to-date, and batteries in battery-powered devices are still strong.
Bluetooth uses the same part of the frequency spectrum (but a different modulation technique) as cheap WiFi Routers, baby monitors, and microwave ovens. if you live in a busy apartment building, there may be very high levels of interference.

  • Photoshop CS4 brush lag with wacom tablet

I've upgraded to photoshop CS4 extended recently and all my brushes that worked fine under CS3 are now with a real lag.
I've installed the latest version of photoshop ( Adobe Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 update ) and the latest update for my wacom tablet, but the lag remains.
My computer is a new "24 imac:
    -  2,66 GHz intel Core 2 duo processor
    -  4 GB memory
    -  NVIDIA GeForce 9400
I use my tablet and photoshop a lot, but with this lag it's terrible to draw..
Is there someone who can help me with this or has the same problems ?
    thanks in advance

Glad I could be of service.
Speaking of services, if you are running Vista or Windows 7 (not XP) you should turn off tablet services too. They automatically start if you install a Wacom driver on these Os'es, and they can also cause hiccups and lag in Photoshop CS4.
You have to be logged in with admin privleges.
    Go to Control Panel->System and Security->Administrative Tools->Services
    Open 'Tablet PC Input Service'
Stop the service and select 'Disabled' as the startup type.
You'll know you got it because the annoying 'ripple' effect will go away when you touch the pen to the tablet, and the pop-up keyboard will go away. Of course, if you actually are running on a tablet PC then don't do this.

  • AppleScript to map wacom tablet to portion of the screen area?

Other Wacom models have options in the preferences to map a portion of the screen area but the Cintiq does not. How can I accomplish this with AppleScript?
    tell application "TabletDriver"
              set tabletNumber to 1
              set transducerNumber to 1
              set screenNumber to 2
              set XDIM to 19200
              set YDIM to 12000
              try

set XDIM to X dimension of tablet tabletNumber
              end try
              try
      -- Y dimension

I am new to photoshop but jumped ahead and bought a Wacom Tablet for Christmas.  Since Christmas, I have read all of these different posts about how the Wacom and Mac don't really "play well together".  I am disappointed, but hoping someone may have some encouraging news.  I have a macbook pro 13" - 2009 model but with most updated OS.  I do NOT have Maverick!
My question....should I even take the Wacom tablet out of the box or should I just send it back to B & H photo?  I have worked on a mac for over 30 years, but still do not feel computer savy enough to manage the mess (that it could be) of connecting the Wacom to my macbook pro.  Anyone have any suggestions?

  • With Parental Controls on, Wacom Tablet pressure sensativity will not work.

I run several high-end Mac Art and Photo-based labs and have run into an issue with Leopard's Parental Controls and Wacom Tablets - when I choose to limit the programs that my users (students) can use, Wacom Tablets will lose functionality under those logins - and it seems only to be pressure-sensitive functions. I've tried several combinations of allowing all programs except utilities, with utilities, etc - no dice - I actually have to turn off "limit programs" and that is the only point that it'll actually let me use all the Wacom's functionality under those managed users - is there a way to fix this?

..."I've allowed all Utilities, Applications, etc and no matter what, as soon as I turn on the "only allowed selected programs" option, it won't work."...
I'm not sure, but it is possible that allowing / disallowing based on the pre-defined categories may not work because the software that Wacom uses on my system is in an atypical location, and has an atypical structure - it actually has one application contained inside another. It may be necessary to approve the apps explicitly.
    Perhaps try either:
    i) Opening "/Library" > "Application Support" > "Tablet" and explicitly dragging any apps present there into the "Parental Controls" pref pane in the panel where the programmes are listed. On my system, the app is called "PenTabletDriver.app"...
    or
ii) Logging in to the managed account (with application restrictions in place), and trying to launch the "PenTabletDriver.app" programme. If this generates the "application is not allowed" message, it should be possible to "always allow" with "admin" authentication to white-list it at that stage...

  • Wacom Tablet Mapping Bug Only in Photoshop

I am using a Graphire Wireless Wacom Tablet on a Windows 7 PC at work. I installed the most recent drivers, and it works flawlessly in a duel monitor setup, and I have no trouble mapping it however I would like.
This is all great until I launch Adobe Photoshop (CS4). Upon launch of the program there is some kind of bug, and suddenly the mapping acts as if both displays were squished into only the primary display. I can toggle between displays, and instead of toggling between display 1, 2, and both, it toggles between the left and right half of the screen and the whole screen. The other monitor is still functioning normally, only the mapping of the tablet is effected, and as soon as I close Photoshop, it reverts back to normal.
I did find one posting with the same problem, but it was resolved my installing the updated drivers, which I already have, and the discussion was closed. Any help I can get would be great.

Wacom has per-appliation settings, and somewhere you've changed the tablet mapping for Photoshop.
Photoshop does not know about the tablet mapping, only the Wacom driver knows about and controls the tablet mapping.
Check the Wacom control panel/preferences.  If you can't figure it out, contact Wacom technical support.

  • Wacom tablet staying in one area on CS5

    Hello.
I am having a really annoying problem with Photoshop CS5. Whenever I use my tablet pen on photoshop, the cursor stays in the upper left corner of the monitor, instead of the entire screen. Even though this happens, when I am not on Photoshop, say I'm in a different window, the cursor acts normally. It goes all around the monitor as its suppposed to.For further info, I am using Photoshop CS5 and all of the Design suite. The tablet I am using is Wacom Bamboo Fun. Please if anyone knows a solution, it would be great. Also this problem exists on my older photoshop versions as well.
    Thanks.

The first two things that I would check are:
The Wacom driver that you are using. Wacom is usually very good at getting newer and better drivers out. If an update is available for your tablet/OS, I would definitely install that.
Next, check all the settings in you Wacom console, in Control Panel.
I'd post a screen-cap of mine, but my Wacoms and their drivers, are a little long in the tooth, and are probably not much help to you, as you likely have a newer tablet, and driver.
As a side note: I have been having similar issues (but in other programs) with my mouse on my laptop - the cursor will hang and only move up-down, or maybe at a very acute angle. I have updated my driver, and even the MS 5-button Wheel-mouse. That seems to have fixed things for a bit, but they have come back a few times, and almost always after an OS update/hot-fix. I suspect that some of those updates/hot-fixes are breaking the mouse driver. In my particular case, this is on XP-Pro SP3. This only started happening over the last few months. Still, it points out to me how fragile pointer device drivers can be.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Adobe Photoshop Touch is not working properly on my Samsung Tablet

I just recently downloaded the Photoshop Touch App to my Samsung Tablet.  The program will open and some of the tools will work, but MOST tools will not!  I have attempted to clear the cashe, uninstall, and then reinstall the program.  The problem persists.  When will Adobe provide an update with repairs so that I can actually use the App I just bought?

    Dear Guido.
We have followed instructions to uninstall and and then reinstall the Photoshop Touch program onto the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.
It is still not working properly.
NONE of the Fx's are working.  (about 26 effects!)
The Fx's under the menu headings of... "Basic" , "Stylize" , "Artistic", or "Photo" do not work!
Under the heading of "Adjustments"... only Invert, and Black and White work... NONE of the others do!
The items that do work are... the Camera Layers, Layers and Selections, Image Blending, and the Basic FX called Gaussian Blur.
Croping image size, text, etc. under the & symbol also work.
So, as you can see....at this point we have purchased an App that is practically USELESS even tho the Google Play Store said that it was compatible with our device.
Please Advise, or Create a proper Update for this device,
    Thank you
