Photoshop CS2 (program error msg)... Help please!!

I have installed the full creative suite 2 on my new iMac. everything works fine except photoshop?!!?
Illustrator works great, In-Design works great, But when i try to open a file or create a new page in PS it tells me "Could not create document because of a program error"???? ***?
I had a previous version of CS and it worked fine for one day, then that started happening. I installed the CS2 trial version, and it would still give me the same error msg. I erased everything and installed the new CS2 (photoshop, illustrator , in-design and acrobat). It still gives me the same darn msg.???
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks

I suggest whenever you have problems with third-party applications, the first place to start troubleshooting is with the application's documentation, then vendor's web site. Usually their sites have FAQs, lists of known bugs, or application-specific forums similar to these Discussions. Sometimes, unlike the Apple Discussions, the questions are even answered by employees of the vendor.

  • PhotoShop CS2 "Program Error" when printing

I am posting this to the Adobe Forums as well, but thought someone here might have some ideas. am having an intermittent problem printing from PhotoShop CS2 to an Epson 9800. When printing large files (200 MB average) to the Epson, PhotoShop will spool the job, taking about 50% longer than normal, and when complete, displays the following message..."The file XXXX.tif could not be printed because of a program error" No job ever gets to the print que. This happens about 80% of the time when printing. Quitting and restarting PhotoShop generally fixes the problem, and the file can be printed from another computer without issue, so this is not file specific. I have 8GB of RAM installed and PhotoShop running under 100% available memory, cache level at 8, with a dedicated 180GB scratch disk. Memory should NOT be the problem, though I do often have the full layered version of the file open in the background (I am printing from a flattened copy. I have observed that the problem is less likely to occur if no other files are open. I have a second G5 with the exact same software setup (OS, Print Driver and PhotoShop down to the decimal version #) that works perfectly every time. I have run all of the System utilities (Repair Permissions, FSCK, etc), reset the OSX printing system, reset PS preferences, trashed and re installed CS, as well as the Epson printer driver, all with no success. Any other trouble shooting ideas would be greatly appreciated. I would love to avoid a System reinstall.

I am looking for a free downloaod for photoshop cs2.  can anyone help me?  I had downloaded it previously and then I had my computer cleaned up and it was taken off.  Now, when I go to open it, it wants the license number.  Where can I find that as I know that I had downloaded it before.  The one website that has it for free must have a virus in it and my AVG will not allow it to download.  I am lost and need it really fast!  Please help me!

If you were a legitimate CS2 licensee, you'll find the link to the CS2 replacement download and new s/n in the above thread, despite its subject title.
This may explain it to you in a more convincing way:

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour and QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Photoshop CC program error when opening or placing files. VERY FRUSTRATING PLEASE HELP.

I'm an advertising graduate student that relies heavily on Adobe programs for my multiple simultaneous projects throughout the school year, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Muse, Edge Animate and Premiere Pro.
I'm using a MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite.
I have been experiencing an incredibly frustrating issue with Photoshop and Muse, both CC 2014. I'll speak about Photoshop in this thread since, well, this is a Photoshop forum. This has been happening for almost a year now. I figured Adobe would've fixed this problem by now, especially given the myriad of crash reports I send.
While working in Photoshop, sometimes when I go to place a file I get an error message that says "Could not complete your request because of a program error." It used to be that this error was fatal and I would have no other choice but to force quit out of Photoshop and restart it. We all know how incredibly time-consuming it is for Photoshop to open (especially 10-15 times in one sitting), and being in grad school, time is not something I have a lot of when I have deadlines and projects due.
This error is still happening and for the same reasons; however, now I can still continue to work on my file, as long as I don't need to open a document or place an image...which doesn't help very much because I'm doing a lot of mockups and composites and need those functionalities. It happens probably 90% of the time when I try to place or open a document.
For the record, it's a similar issue that's causing Muse to crash as well. When I try to add an image file, it causes the entire program to crash "unexpectedly," as Muse so eloquently puts it.
Until recently I had kept CS6 on my hard drive and would dig it out to use in place of CC when PSCC would crash; however, someone told me that having both versions was likely the cause for the crashes. After much hesitation, I finally uninstalled all of CS6 from my hard drive the other day (the right way, not into the trash can, since someone is inevitably going to ask that question) and I'm still having this problem, and now I don't have my CS6 version to fall back on and now I'm in a really bad spot.
I apologize for all the rambling, but I'm really very, very frustrated with this error, and I had to do something while waiting for Photoshop to restart. Someone please help.

MacOS 10.10? Yeah, Apple is working on that bug.  They already fixed the crash in the open/save dialogs, but have a few more problems to address with the open/save dialogs.

  • InDesign CS2 won't open: error msg states "Please install the MetaData plug-in and restart"

I'm unable to open my InDesign CS2 program, and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me. When I try to open it, I get an error message stating: "Cannot load Adobe InDesign CS2 because it requires MetaData. Please install the MetaData plug-in and restart Adobe InDesign."
It worked just fine last week - I have no idea what happened this week... (other than my 3-yr-old 'playing' with my computer...) I am able to open other CS2 programs like Illustrator and Photoshop. Any ideas for me??

Try trashing your preferences: Hold down Shift + Control + Option + Command immediately after launch. You'll get a dialog asking if you want to delete your preferences. If no dialog comes up you didn't do it fast enough.

  • Error msg 13019 please help

    hi
i need help in getting rid of this error msg 13019. it started after downloaded a couple of songs. and it will not allow me to sync my nano ipod thanks

Ive fixed this issue before. The steps are kinda long but they work.
This is for windows computers with iPod nano that get the error 13019 during or after a sync with iTunes.
    -Open itunes
    --click, edit, click preferences
    --select advanced
---make a note of the iTunes media folder location on a notepad.
---put a check in organize files
---take the check out of copy files
    ---click ok
--Click file, at the top of iTunes
--move mouse over library, select organize, and consolidate files. ( This ensures all music in you iTunes will be in the iTunes media folder later.)
At this point, if you have playlists you want to save:
-Create a folder on your desktop, call it, playlists
--Hover you mouse over your playlist in iTunes, should be at the bottom of the blue/grey column on the left.
--right click the playlist, select export playlist
--Navigate to your desktop and open the playlist folder and save.
---Do this for each playlist you want to save
    -Close itunes
-Click your start button, and open computer or my computer
--Using what you wrote down on your note pad, follow the path to the "iTunes folder", NOT the iTunes media folder
    --Open the iTunes folder.
    --Stop here
-You will see icons that look like folders and you will see icons that look like files-
    -You will KEEP the FOLDERS
    -You will DELETE the FILES
--If it makes you more comfortable you can cut the files out and paste on your desktop, but as of now we do not need the files any longer as we have the playlists backed up. Remember-Keep the folders.
    --That was the magic--
    -Disconnect your iPod if connected.
-When you open your iTunes, it will be empty, that is OK. We are recreating the library. Everything will come back in a few seconds.
    -Click file at the top
--Select, add FOLDER to library, not to be confused with add file.
--In the window that pops up, locate and click on computer or my computer
--From here follow the path to the iTunes media folder on your note pad, but do not open the iTunes media folder.
--Click the iTunes music/media folder one time so it highlights.
--On the bottom right you will have option to select folder, or choose folder or OK. Hit that button.
All you music will start to import back into iTunes.
    -Plug in iPod after completed
--a message pops up about being synced with a different library.
    --Click erase and sync
--Watch all your songs go on your iPod with no error message.
From here you may sync your iPod the way you want with out worrying about the persnickety error 13019!!!!!
    Hope this helps!!!
    Julian
    p.s. Follow the directions exactly.
p.s.s. To add your playlists back to iTunes:
-Click file at the top of the screen
--move your mouse over library, selecte import playlist
--on the new screen that pops up, navigate to your desktop
--open the playlist folder, select the first playlist, hit ok
    --repeat for each playlist exported

  • Photoshop CS 'Program error' but works in different account

My version of Photoshop CS suddenly stopped working. It said 'program error' when I try to load any files. Then, after quitting, it failed to reload each time.
I have tried reinstalling, then uninstalling fully (through Adobe's uninstall procedure). Also, deleting the preferences and font caches but still no luck. So I downloaded the try out version of CS2 and it installed fine. But it now says exactly the same thing '
I created a new account on the computer and tried it from there - and it worked! So I then copied my preferences to that account and it still worked, so I guess it isn't the preferences.
It seems there is something wrong with my main account but not sure where to look. Is it easy to transfer all setting and all files to the new account?
    Thanks
    Alan

I had a lot of grief with this exact problem. I fixed it by deleting my printers in mac OSX preferences. I have not re-added them yet, but since removing the printers I have not had the problem occur since - and this is after an erase and install, an archive and install, upgrading to CSII and calls to Adobe phone support were of no help. Everything else in the CS suite worked, except photshop. Photoshop would work if I created a new user account, but this work-around was not acceptable to me. In desperation, with deadlines looming, I was about to do another erase and fresh install when I found this:
Solution 6: Re-create your printers in Mac OS X.
To re-create your printers, first delete them and then add them again.
    To delete your printers:
    1. Open System Preferences from the Apple menu.
    2. Select Print & Fax, and click Printing.
    3. Select each printer in the list and click the delete key (the minus key).
For instructions on how to add your printers again, see "Setting up to print to a printer" in Mac Help or search Help using the phrase "add a printer."
    http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331627.html
That fixed the problem for me and I really hope that helps someone else. This was a terrible and frustrating problem for me, not only am I a design student but I also earn a living using the Adobe software and my mac, and Photoshop is one of my primary tools.

  • Photoshop CS2 coercion error on Intel mac

I am testing on 2 machines, one intel, one ppc (g5). On the intel machine I can't get this code to run. It keeps erroring saying it doesn't understand percent and pixels?
    tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS2"
set kScaleFactor to 75 as percent
set kResolution to 120 as pixels
set kResponse to resize image kDocRef width kScaleFactor height kScaleFactor resolution kResolution resample method bicubic
    end tell
Any ideas? I think I had a problem similar years back, but I don't recall the fix.

I get a similar error message whenever I start up any program with a GUI, using either Java 1.4.2 or 1.5 JVM on any Mac (G5, 12" Powerbook, G4 power mac) running Tiger. I cannot remember when the messages started or what they mean. However, regardless of the error, the programs run fine for the most part. So it is not specific to the MBP (or Intel-based) Mac. I just bought an MBP today and have just started getting it configured.
p.s. I have had one problem with Java programs on OS/X since upgrading to Tiger last year. I never experienced this problem on OS/X before Tiger and it has never been a problem on Linux. Seemingly randomly, when I am running a program for many hours, the JVM dies with only O/S type messages. Sometimes the messages is "bus error", most of the time the errors in the log file are obscure references to the underlying JVM code (i.e. Objective C???). This happens both with commercial Java programs and ones I write myself. For example, if I am processing thousands of files for import into a relational database, the program will fail over and over again, but at a different point in the data and a different point in the processing of that data. The only common pattern is that the problem occurs after many hours (many of my programs run for 12-40 hours). My solution thus far has been to develop on OS/X but do long runs on Linux. I've tried reporting it as a bug to Apple - but it's difficult to send a large body of code and a large relational database to Apple, particularly when, in any case, the problem will be hard to replicate. The one common thread is that all the Java programs that die in this way are using JDBC. Something changed with Tiger.

  • Photoshop CS3 Program Error

Since upgrading to Leopard I run Photoshop CS3 and I get a programming error message. I say OK and continue working. It also happens when I use the text tool.
    Anyone else? Solutions?

    Hello,
First try emptying your cache in your home directory folder (Home>Library>Caches). Trash everything located in the folder except the folder itself. Quit Photoshop if open and try again.
If that does not work, try deleting the preference file(s) for Photoshop (make sure Photoshop is closed).
If the above did not work at all, then I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop CS3.
    I hope this helps!
    Jason

  • Photoshop 2014 Program Error in text

I am currently using photoshop CC 2014. And sometimes when I am tying text, or copy/pasting text into the PSD file, an message would pop up that I "Could not complete your request because of a program error" After which, I would be totally unable to do anything to the text box at all. The text box would be blank, any attempt at copy/pasting or typing text would just cause the message to repeat.
It doesn't happen everytime I open photoshop CC 2014. Sometimes the text is fine. And then randomly it just happens. I can save the files. After which if I reopen photoshop CC 2014 it would be fine (and after a while may happen again).
I think I'll try using photoshop CC 64 bit in the mean time to see whether if this is a program issue or font issue.
I was just wondering if there is anyway I can fix this?
EDIT: just some more details, I am using Windows 7.
EDIT: Is there any other details I can supply for help on this?

No, increasing memory usage isn't really helping. The error message appeared again, this time when I was trying to edit a text bubble I already placed inside the document:

  • Photoshop CC: program error occures when working with videos

Whenever I'm trying to trim a video in Photoshop CC I'm running into this error:
"Could not complete your request because of a program error"
I can't close it by clicking "okay", so I have to close photoshop via task manager.
    - I also came across this error when I was trying to duplicate a text layer while working with a video.
    - When I was using Photoshop CS6 several months ago trimming videos worked fine.
    - I've tested if the problem appears on my laptop (Win7, i5, on board intel hd graphics) in Photoshop CC, and it does not!
    - I've deinstalled all Adobe Products (and their plugins) and ran Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner without any errors, then reinstalled Photoshop CC.
    - I restored my preferences.
    - My graphic board drivers are up to date.
    - My computer is a Windows 7 (64 bit) Home Premium, Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40 GHz,  16 GB RAM with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 graphic board.
I honestly don't know what's the matter. Unfortunately I couldn't find any other thread with the same problem.
Hope you'll be able to help
    Thanks in advance!

OK.  I suspect you might have run into one of the Mavericks bugs then.  I would certainly expect your system to handle 720 without complaining.
Apparently Adobe have made Apple aware of these bugs, and have no more control over rectifying them.
Try Google with 'Photoshop cc video Mavericks'
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5826052
I am not aware of any workarounds, but I use a PC and use PremPro for video anyway, but that's not to say there isn't one.  If this thread doesn't bring you an answer, start a new one with a subject line something like:

  • Photoshop gives "Program Error" when I try to open files while VPN

I think this may be a new one. While VPN on my company network, Photoshop CS cannot open any files. Either drag and drop, double click or even file open command. You get the clock and the message "failed to open because of a Program Error.... " or something close to that. I'm sure it says Program Error though. Works fine if I'm not VPN but soon as I'm on it stops opening files or even creating a new blank canvas gives that error. I checked Adobe forum and nothing there to find about this one. Anyone else have this happen?

    Hi, SSI.
    1. What VPN client are you using?
As a guess, your VPN client may be blocking a port that PS CS may use for license verification over the Internet. The fact that it works AOK when not using the VPN would tend to support this hypothesis. As to what port it may be attempting to use, I can't say, but you may be able to find this out from Adobe and then work with your firm's networking staff to see if this port can be opened for use when the VPN is active.
    2. You noted that you "checked Adobe forum and nothing there to find about this one." Did you post to the Adobe Photoshop forum? If not, I recommend doing so.
    3. You wrote: "You get the clock and the message "failed to open because of a Program Error.... " or something close to that. I'm sure it says Program Error though."As FYI, in cases such as this, copying down the exact text of the message is helpful.
