Photoshop CS2 will not get beyond initialisation anymore

I am using (or was) Photoshop CS2
Win XP Home
Intel 4 3.06 Ghz processor
2GB RAM
Nvidea GeForce FX Go5100 video card 128Mb, IRQ 16, BIOS 4.34.20.85.08
Packard Bell easynote H5
After updating Nvidea drivers when I load Photoshop after starting initiation sequence I get error,
"Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable.'
press enter and it crashes. ( This may have been the first time I tried CS2 for a while so may not be relevant.)
I rolled back the drivers made no difference
I checked fonts for errors and fully cleaned these up
Elements and everything else works just fine.
End of tether, please help

I have run disk checks all come up clear, I've virus checked and minor issues only, the disc is a only few months old and performs well.  All other programs run very well. Elements runs fine.  I have de fragged, I've run surface checks and run the Acronis alignment tool on the disc which is Samsung.
The Disc is partitioned with plenty of space on all partitions.
I run AV's, Proshow. pictures2exe as I'm into photography.  had I not started up Photoshop I would never have seen anything to be of concern.
I am reluctant to re-install everything unless I can be sure that it will work at the end of it.
As you can tell I did a fair bit of work before coming to the forum.

  • Photoshop CS2 will not open to double click in Snow Lepard

Since loading Snow Leopard I have been unable to open Photoshop files with a double click. Double clicking .psd file opens PS with the message "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." Right click "open with" gets the same result. I CAN open files through the file menu in PS. But, files opened via the file menu and saved as... will not open with a double click.
The "Open with" in the file info window reads "Adobe Photoshop CS2". Even forcing it to open in Preview and then back to PS CS2, sort of like hitting it with a hammer, does not improve the situation.
CS2 on and year old dual quad.
Before you knee jerk a "CS2, what did you expect..." CS2 seems to work fine once open. And I have access to another brand new iMac 24" with CS2 and Snow Leopard that does not have this problem, files open with a double click.
On my troubled machine the thousands of files in question opened yesterday, pre Snow Leopard. I have found a few PS files that are several years old that do open to a double click.
    Thoughts?

In a partial answer to my own question...
I have discovered that the Adobe CS2 files (as well as Illustrator CS2, Microsoft Office X, Silo, etc.) will open with a double click in some cases.
Files on my main hard drive (Mac pro dual quad with four one terabyte hard drives, Snow Leopard 10.6.1) is a RAID made up of two of the internal terabyte hard drives will not open with a double clip. (They do open via the file menu in the given program).
But files on non-RAID drives open with a double click as expected.
It appears that the RAID drive (Apple software RAID) is the culprit.
It is likely that a simple fix from Apple in the operating system to correct the opening of files with a double click from an Apple sotware RAID drive would solve the problem as the various programs all work fine otherwise with Snow Leopard 10.6.1.

  • Photoshop CS2 will not work with RAW images in the Minolta DimAge A2.  It use to work fine

I have used Photoshop CS 2 with my DimAge A2 for over 5 years in the RAW format.  Now it will not work with RAW with my camera.  I am using Vista 64.Any answers ?  Thanks

It would seem to me that you have probably had to reinstall Photoshop CS 2.  If that is the case, then you should download and install Camera Raw 3.7.  The version that was on your install disk was updated several times.  And one of those updates probably included support for your camera.  Install ACR 3.7 and see if that helps.

  • Photoshop CS2 will not install

FYI, I just confirmed with Adobe tech support that Apple's latest security update (or perhaps an older but recent updtae) causes the CS2 installer script to freeze the MacBookPro.
Only way to escape is with a power button forced shutdown and of course no CS2 installed.
Hey Apple, can we get this fixed this asap?

Huh, well I found out that my MacBook Pro showed up today on my doorstep, and I was all set to run home and install CS2.... now perhaps I won't be able to... i'll try the VersionCue thing and if that doesn't work, I guess I'll have to wait....
Apple has a tendancy to break things with their security updates. I also run the Sonos music mesh network at home with my Macs, and on a recent update from Apple, they (Apple) broke Windows file sharing (Sambda) on Intel Mac Minis.... which is exactly what i have as my music machine.. fortunately, they fixed it within about 2 weeks.
Will post later and tell you what kind of luck I had tonite.

  • HT1212 mini ipad will not get beyond apple screen what can be done?

This mini ipad has been frozen at the apple screen for 24 hrs.  Every so often it will go to the black screen with the loading/updatiing symbol but it too is frozen
    Can this be fixed?

Try a reset first. If this doesn't work, post back. You may need to restore your iPad using recovery mode.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • CS2 will not open. Greeted with "Your Adobe Photoshop user name...

CS2 will not open. Greeted with message "Your Adobe Photoshop user name, organization, or serial number is missing or invalid. The application cannot continue and must now exit." I click OK and PS closes. I've been using this regestered copy on this PC (running Vista 32) for years (daily or at least weekly) without problem until today. Any ideas on how I can get it working again? I have disc somewhere? Thank you.

Unfortunately your cs2 disc is no good except for the things such as the goodies or extras that came on the cd, because adobe disabled the activation servers for cs2 products.
    You can try this:
(in other words something removed the info from the windows registry)
    http://web.archive.org/web/20120325044452/http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/error-user-n ame-organization-or.html
More than likely though, you'll have reinstall photoshop cs2 using the new non activating installer.
Use just the photoshop cs2 download and serial on that page.

My first generation AppleTV will not sync with iTunes anymore.  I get an error message that says: "The Apple TV is not responding Check that any firewall software running on this comptuter has been set to allow communication on port 3689"  firewall is turned off.. Any ideas?

    Thanks Rudegar,
I only synch and do not stream off of my 1st Gen AppleTV
I will try with ethernet but will be a pain in the butt if i can not fix it with wifi for long term fix
I may end up trying to do a named IP address vs DHCP for this appleTV (not sure if i can do both and do not want to remove DHCP as i have a bunch of sensors and other devices that I prefer to dynamically add to the network via DHCP vs. assign each one
Will keep working on other fix options (factory reset, etc.)
    Thanks again

  • HT204406 I attempted to download iTunes match w/o success.  Step 1 was fine.  Step 2 gets stalled and will not move beyond 80%...  Any suggestions for a solution?  Why is iTunes stalling on step 2?

    Hi folks,
I found a solution in case your MATCH is still buggy...
JUST BOOT YOUR MAC HOLDING THE SHIFT KEY (until you see a progress bar).
Then in itunes disable and re-enable iTunes Match.
It should rescan all your library and eventually works.
At the end just reboot your Mac normally.
    Best regards from Paris.

  • Adobe CS2 will not work in Leopard

Did you know *_Adobe CS2 will not work in Leopard?_* I found out the hard way that Leopard doesn't cost $129; It's $729, because CS2 will not work so you need to upgrade to CS3. This is straight from Adobe support (albeit in Manilla). I can find no documentation on either site that warns you not to upgrade to Leopard if you're running CS2. I am dead in the water until CS3 arrives. Nice move Apple and Adobe. I usually like to get kissed first.

I'm using Adobe Photohsop CS1 and it is working. There are a couple of little glitches, but nothing major. And whenever there is a major system upgrade you can ALWAYS figure there are some things that are going to break, which is why it is a good plan to install a new system on a new drive or second partition. AFAIK the things that don't work and will never work are Photoshop 7 and Elements 2.

  • After downloading & installing application of adobe creative suite cs2 version 6,  screen of adobe photoshop cs2 is not opened by clicking icon . message is giving " ausba4.dll " was not present. Please guide me.?

I have downloaded & installed adobe creative suit cs2 version 6 but when I click the icon of adobe photoshop in desktop it is not opened & giving message " this application has failed to start because " ausba4.dll " was not found. reinstalling of the application may fix the problem " I have reinstall & opened many times but even then it is not opened. Please guide me accordingly.

I'd try disabling the Twain_32.8BA plugin in
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins\Import-Export
You can disable the plugin by putting an ~ (tilde) in front of the name or moving the plugin to your desktop.
Then try photoshop cs2 and see if you still get the error message.
I suspect the error has to do with your scanner driver, since photoshop cs2 does not have an ausba4.dll

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

I have unistalled/deleted any previous versions of the software, and used the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner tool to flush my machines. Sadly,

you can try to login to Root user account and then run the cleaner tool , and then check.

  • Photoshop CS4 will not launch after installing Yosemite.

Photoshop CS4 will not launch after installing Yosemite. All the other CS4 apps open. I upgraded Java. Genius Bar could not get it to launch.

Here's the fix I found, by way of an explanation...
Snow Leopard prompted me on my first startup with the following error:
"There is a conflict with the _______ font file. This font file contains a font name that conflicts with a system font required by Mac OS X to display onscreen text. You should move this font file to the Trash."
The fonts it said were conflicting: Helvetica, HelveticaNeue.dfont, Lucida Grande, and Monaco. I figured Snow Leopard probably wanted to replace these fonts with newer versions, and so I clicked "Move to Trash" on all four.
Apparently 10.6 trashed these fonts but didn't replace them. This was causing Photoshop to crash on load.
So I restored my ~/Library/Fonts folder from a backup made just before upgrading and this time after a reboot I said "Allow Conflict" on all four dialog boxes and launched Photoshop... everything is back to normal!
Not sure what kind of "conflict" it's referring to, but apparently moving these font files to the trash as OS X prompted me to do broke a number of apps. Should I report this as a bug?
    Thanks for the ideas!

adobe starter edition has photo numbers by the picture such as DSCO0283.JPG , where can I find that number on the pictures in PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 12--reason being that photoshop elements will not convert my catalog to version 12. If i had that number I could manually rebuild my collections into the photoshop elements 12, but all that i see in photoshop elements is dates and i have multiple pictures from the same dates. HELP! I

finally getting back to this project---adobe starter edition 3.2 is on a windows XP computer
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 12 is on our Windows 8.1 computer.
error messages--- had to give up trying to convert---I copied all our pictures to our windows 7 laptop and I installed adobe photoshop elements 12 (my bought program)
I wanted to try to convert there first. also I copied our catalog to this computer also. Everything was working fine I could see the collections just as they where on the XP computer.
then I tried to convert on the laptop. I believe the error said something about corrupt file, so I gave up that day. Next day I tried to open ADOBE STARTER EDITION 3.2  and it wanted an unlock code, no such code exists. and my copy of Elements 12 turned into a trial version which has expired. So I am a little hesitant to try to convert on the XP  computer and mess up the existing catalog,
unless there is a fool proof way. I have tried manually making collections/ albums on Windows 8.1 and PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 12  and coping pictures into the new albums. sloooow!!
I probably have about 4500 pictures and 150 collections/ albums to go. So any suggestions would be appreciated.
